Born in Muhlenberg County, Nov. 26, 1963, he was a self - employed carpet installer for 17 years and a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church in Bremen. He enjoyed fishing and playing darts with his son.
Survivors include his wife of 16 years, Kristina Woosnam Bailey; two sons, Travis Glynn and Matthew Bailey; his mother, Roberta (Donnie) Harris of Owensboro; his father, Sherman Ray (Pauline) Bailey of Belton; a sister, Teresa Hurt of Macon, Ga.; two stepsisters, Karen Morgan of Belton and Linda Kirby of Huntsville, Ky.; and several cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., May 30 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Jimmy Bunch and the Rev. Albert Clardy officiating. Burial followed in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery in Bremen.
Dorothy Nell Layne
ROCHESTER Dorothy Nell Layne, 80, died Friday, June 4, 2004 at the Medical Center of Bowling Green.
Born in Butler County to the late William H. and Nina P. (Doolin) Truelove, she was a homemaker and a member of Rochester United Methodist Church and Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Jacob Layne, and a brother, Clifton Truelove.
Survivors include two daughters, Susan Johnson and Gwen Ramsey, both of Rochester; a son, Steve Layne of Rochester; a sister, Margaret Lehman of Lewisburg; and four grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., June 7 at Jones Funeral Chapel. Burial followed in Rochester Cemetery.
Bill Alvis Adcock
Bill Alvis Adcock, 91, died Tuesday, May 31, 2005 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital.
Born in Muhlenberg County May 21, 1914, he was a member of Nelson Creek Missionary Baptist Church and a former employee of Rose Hill Monument Sales. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Adcock in 2000 and a son, Jimmie Adcock in 1992.
Survivors include a daughter, Romona Sue (Earl) Rager of Bremen; four grandchildren, Donald Earl Rager of Madisonville, Jerry Ray Rager of Bremen, Lori Renee Kaufman of Durham, N.C. and Natalie Jo Adcock of Beaver Dam and five great - grandchildren, Kayla Dawn Rager and Kellie Christine Rager, both of Madisonville, Courtney Grace Rager and Hannah Faith Rager, both of Bremen and Alex David Kaufman of Durham, N.C.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. June 3 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Tim Adcock officiating. Burial followed in Rose Hill Cemetery.
T.H. (Jack) Humphrey
GREENVILLE - T.H. (Jack) Humphrey, 73, died Wednesday, June 1, 2005 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital following a lengthy illness.
Born in Muhlenberg County Oct. 22, 1931, he was the son of the late Timothy Homer Humphrey and Leona Humphrey. He proudly served his country as an U.S. Marine from 1951 until 1953. He was a retired coal miner and worked for Caney Creek Coal Company. He enjoyed hunting and socializing with his many friends and telling tales when there was someone sitting by to listen. He attended Bards Hill Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of seven years, Judy Lynn Garris Humphrey and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. June 3 at Gary’s Funeral Home with the Rev. Terry Groves officiating and the Rev. Gerald Beliles assisting. Burial followed in Vernal Grove Cemetery with Military Honors.
Mason Wemes
DUNEDIN - Mason Wemes, 91, died Tuesday, May 31, 2005 at her residence.
Born in Bremen Sept. 21, 1913, she was the daughter of the late Ezra Humphrey and Francis Paige Frazier Humphrey. She was a 1930 graduate of Bremen High School, a Registered Nurse and worked at Bay Pines V.A. Medical Center for 25 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Pinellas Park and its Young at Heart group and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees (NARFE).
Survivors include four brothers, John Humphrey of Lakeland, Fla, Roy Humphrey of Walling, Tenn., Robert Humphrey of Rockport, Ind. and Ray Humphrey of Central City; three sisters, Eva Mason Reese of Dunedin, Fla., Glendora Crosby of Harvard, Idaho and Nola Jordan of Lexington; a stepson, Roger Wemes of Kalamazoo, Mich.; two Godchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. June 4 at E. Dale Gunter Funeral Home in ST. Petersburg, Fla. Burial followed in Memorial Park Cemetery in St. Petersburg, Fla.
Haley Joe Avery
BELTON - Haley Joe Avery, infant, died Wednesday, June 1, 2005 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital.
Born in Muhlenberg County June 1, 2005, she was the daughter of Amber Piper and Joseph Avery.
Survivors include her parents, grandparents, Lloyd and Angie Avery of Central City and Dale and Gloria Piper of Belton and great - grandparents, Sarah Piper and the late James Piper of Belton, Edna and Tommy Hayes of Bremen, Jerry and Ann Quisenberry of Graham and Zella and Joe Avery of Nelson Creek.
Graveside services were held June 3 at 1 p.m. at the Mt. Moriah Cemetery in Penrod with Mr. Darrell Puryear officiating. Tucker Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Robert E. “Juggy” Locke
GRAHAM - Robert E. “Juggy” Locke, 80, died Thursday, June 2, 2005 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital.
Born in Muhlenberg County Feb. 6, 1925, he was a retired mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Billie Black Locke; a son, Steve Locke of Greenville, a sister, Mary Ann Hendricks of Graham and a granddaughter, Chandy Locke of Greenville.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. June 4 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Eades officiating. Burial followed in Yeargins Chapel Cemetery.
Elliott Harden Skaggs
GREENVILLE - Elliot Harden Skaggs, 67, died Friday, June 3, 2005 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital following a lengthy illness.
Born in Taylor County Dec. 12, 1937, he was the son of the late William Edgar Skaggs and Ruby Lee Sanders Skaggs. He retired in 1989 from T.V.A. as a carpenter after 13 years and had farmed all of his life. He was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church in Rosewood for over 25 years and he served as a Deacon.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Mary Frances Farmer Skaggs; two sons, Mike (Theresa) Skaggs and Billy Ray (Gena) Skaggs, both of Greenville; two daughters, Diane Jones and Carol (Keith) Rice, both of Greenville; a brother, Wilson (Regina) Skaggs of Campbellsville; a sister, Judy Wurmser of Campbellsville; 11 grandchildren, Charlie, Joey, Amy, Christy, LeAnn, Whitney, Ryan, Heather, Caleb, Bethann and Brysen and six great - grandchildren, Matt, Katie, Levi, Alyssa, Hayden and Carly.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. June 5 at Gary’s Funeral Home with the Rev. Curtis McGehee and the Rev. Richard Allen officiating. Burial followed in Macedonia Cemetery in Rosewood.
Norman Hayes Stewart
BREMEN - Norman Hayes Stewart, 85, died Friday, June 3, 2005 at Jewish Hospital in Louisville.
Born in Muhlenberg County April 19, 1920, he was a World War II Veteran and served in North Africa and Italy in the Army. He retired from Vogue Mines and was a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife Frances Lucille Stewart in July of 1996.
Survivors include four sons, Danny (Lou) Stewart of Scottsboro, Ala., Gayle Stewart of Central City, William A. Stewart of Bremen and Kenny (Lynn) Stewart of Madisonville; a daughter, Brenda (Danny) Thomasson of Bremen; eight grandchildren, Dana, Sam, Sean, Joshua, Stacie, Andy, Chance and Danielle and one great - grandchild, Luke.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. June 6 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Gerald Jones officiating. Burial followed in Cedar Grove Cemetery.

Wayne T. Ewing
BONITA SPRINGS, FLA. - Wayne T. Ewing, 71, died Thursday, June 2, 2005 at his residence.
Born in Beech Creek Dec. 1, 1933 the son of the late Opheus Ewing and Elizabeth Turner Ewing. He graduated from Hughes Kirk High School then attended Georgetown College and later received his Masters Degree from Western Kentucky University. He also served his country for two years in the United States Army. He taught and coached basketball at Hughes Kirk and Graham High Schools until 1963 when he left to take a job with Peabody of Operations for Peabody Coal Company. By 1985 he was named President of Marketing and Development for Peabody. IN 1990 he retired form Peabody after serving 27 years in these various capacities. In 1993, he took a job with Kerr McGee in their coal subsidiary division and retired from there in 1997. He and Jane then moved to Bonita Springs, Fla. to begin their retirement. His retirement consisted of consulting for numerous companies in the coal industry, serving on various boards and enjoying lots of golf. He accomplished so much in his professional career but his greatest joy came from his family. He was so proud of his wife, daughters, four grandchildren and son - in - laws and it was their love that he valued most in life. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. His courage, faith, and strength blessed the lives of all who knew him and he will be greatly missed.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Jane Bruce Ewing; two daughters, Allyson (Bob) Green and Sally (Jim) Clymer; a sister, Margaret Mefford and four grandchildren, Elyse Lucchese, Mitch Green, Amanda Green and Blair Green.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. June 8 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Phillip Kazee officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Donald Lee “Cowboy” Lockhart
INDIANAPOLIS - Donald Lee “Cowboy” Lockhart, 68, died Friday, June 3, 2005
in Indianapolis.
Born in Central City May 16, 1937, he was the son of the late Kerson Lockhart and Ethel Lee Tooley Lockhart. He was a supervisor for Peerless Pump for 24 years, served in the U.S. Air Force and a member of the Moose Lodge 500.
Survivors include is wife, Mary Nelson Lockhart; four sons, Jackie Lee Hope, Jimmie Lyn Nelson, Billie Joe Lockhart and Donell Lane Lockhart; four daughters, Billie Jean West, Donna Kay Lockhart and Darlene Dee Lockhart, Leighann Bennett; a brother, Phillip Hope; 16 grandchildren and 5 great - grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. June 7 at G.H. Herrmann Funeral Home in Indianapolis with the Rev. Willie Bates officiating. Burial followed in Floral Park Cemetery in Indianapolis.
Jason Gene Crynes
WHITE PLAINS - Jason Gene Crynes, 27, died Saturday, June 4, 2005 at his residence.
Born in Linton, Ind. Aug. 23, 1977, he was the son of Larry Dean Crynes, of Sullivan, Ind. and Debra Kaye Majors Kendall and the stepson of Jerry Kendall, both of White Plains. He was a member of Mount Carmel Cumberland Presbyterian Church in White Plains. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Clarence Dean Crynes.
Survivors include a brother, David Crynes of White Plains; a stepsister, Rachel Kendall of Plant City, Fla.; a stepbrother, Shadow Kendall of Linton, Ind.; his grandparents, Orvil and Anna Majors of White Plains and Wanda Crynes of Linton, Ind.; three uncles and an aunt.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. June 8 at Mount Carmel Cumberland Presbyterian Church in White Plains with the Rev. John Shoulta officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Carmel Cemetery in White Plains. Visitation will be held from 5 - 8 p.m. June 7 at Gary’s Funeral Home and after 9 a.m. June 8 at Mount Carmel Cumberland Presbyterian Church in White Plains. Gary’s Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
William Harold Knight
William Harold Knight, 67, died Monday, May 29, 2006 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital.
Born in Muhlenberg County, July 24, 1938, he was a retired coal miner from Gibraltor Coal Mines. He was a 23 - year member of the Central City City Council, past president of UMWA Local 1092, a member of the Central City Masonic Lodge, Second Baptist Church in Greenville, the Scottish Rites and was a Shriner.
Survivors include his wife, Ann Vincent Knight; a son, William H. “Bill” (Dana) Knight, Jr. of Bowling Green; a brother, Kenneth Knight of Owensboro; two sisters, Judy Devine of Owensboro and Adelene Wilson of Drakesboro and four grandchildren, Kristin Carver of Leavenworth, Kan., Matthew Knight and Kayla Knight, both of Greenville and Jacob Knight of Bowling Green.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. June 1 at Tucker Funeral Home with Dr. Ray England and the Rev. Jerry Brown officiating. Burial followed at Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City.
