UTICA Milford Eugene “Jack” Renfrow, 90, formerly of Central City, died Wednesday, May 26, 2004 at his residence.
Born Oct. 6, 1913 to the late George W. and Beulah Mae Sapp Renfrow, he was a member of First Baptist Church in Central City and in the oil drilling business. He was an entrepreneur, building and operating several businesses including the Kentucky Grill, Car - o - noda Motel and the Pizza Hut in Central City. He also built Drive - Inn Theaters throughout Kentucky, Indiana and Ohio as well as developing the Rose Hill Subdivision in Central City. His last construction project was his current home in Utica, which he built at the age of 80. He was preceded in death by two sons, Jerald Lynn Renfrow and Truman Earl Renfrow.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Dorothy Crowe Renfrow; four sons, Wallace Renfrow of Ft. Worth, Texas, Randall Renfrow of Owensboro, Milford Renfrow of Clarksville, Ind. and Glenn Renfrow of Greenville; a daughter, Vicki Coates of Bowling Green; a brother, Robert Earl Renfrow of Owensboro; 16 grandchildren; 22 great - grandchildren; and nine great great - grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., May 29 at Glenn Funeral Home in Owensboro with the Rev. Bob Lowery and the Rev. Carson Bevil officiating. Burial followed in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations made to First Baptist Church in Central City Building Fund or Hospice.
Albert Vincent
OWENSBORO Albert Vincent, 83, died Wednesday, May 26, 2004 at Bon Harbour Nursing Home in Owensboro.
Born in Muhlenberg County, July 28, 1920, to the late Clarence Vincent and Virdie Gish, he was a self - employed concrete finisher and of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy (Alexander) Vincent; two sons, Albert Junior Vincent and Robert Harold Vincent, both of Owensboro; two daughters, Joyce Jefford and Vondale Fielden, both of Owensboro; a sister, Mary Jean Croft of Evansville; two brothers, Larry Wayne Vincent of Rockport, Ind. and James Thomas Vincent of St. Louis, Mo.; 10 grandchildren; 16 great - grandchildren; and three great great - grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., May 28 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Leroy Rearden officiating. Burial followed in Fairmount Cemetery in Central City.
Dora M. Lindsay
Dora M. Lindsay, 100, died Tuesday, May 25, 2004 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital.
Born in Muhlenberg County, March 12, 1904, she was a homemaker and a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church in Central City.
Survivors include two sons, Otis Gene Lindsay of Wingo, Ky. and James Robert Lindsay of Drakesboro; a daughter, Mary C. Dodson of Wingo; 16 grandchildren; 26 great - grandchildren; and three great great - grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., May 27 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Kerry Vincent officiating. Burial followed in Peanut Cemetery in Drakesboro.
Opal Evelyn Bivins
MCBAIN, MICH. Opal Evelyn Bivins, 88, died Tuesday, May 25, 2004 in McBain, Mich.
Born in Muhlenberg County, July 22, 1915, to the late William and Anna Warren, she was a beloved mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Bivins in 1975; three sisters; three brothers; two sons, Wayne and Daniel Bivins; a son - in - law, David Haas; and two grandchildren.
Survivors include her children, Faye Warren of Houghton Lake, Edward (Sandy) Bivins of Washington, Mich., Garry (Kathy) Bivins of Thomas Township; Gayle (Linda) Bivins of Cheboygan, and Lana Haas of Lexington; two sisters - in - law, Anna Lee Warren of Greenville and Ruth Warren of Atlanta, Mich.; 13 grandchildren; 14 great - grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Private funeral services were held at Case Funeral Home in Saginaw, Mich. with pastor Douglas R. Jackson officiating. Burial followed in Chapel Hill Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy can be made to Community Village, Hospital Rd., Saginaw, Mich. or the Hospice of Michigan.
Gladys M. Phelps
PELION, S.C. Gladys M. Phelps, 76, formerly of Muhlenberg County, died Saturday, May 15, 2004 at Lexington Medical Center in Pelion, S.C.
She was the daughter of the late Will and Ruby Linville and preceded in death by her husband, James H. Phelps.
Survivors include five daughters, Ruby Vincent of Greenville, June Crapps of West Columbia, S.C., Brenda Shirey and Mildred Moore, both of Pelion and Barbara Burden of Kershaw, S.C.; a foster son, Michael Phillips of Lexington; nine stepchildren; a sister, Virginia Linville of Pelion; six brothers, Henry Linville of Florida, Jim, Leonard, Hershell, Bill and Dean, all of Kentucky; 20 grandchildren; 42 great - grandchildren; seven great great - grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., May 18 at Southland Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel. Burial followed in Southland Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel Cemetery. GREENVILLE Leora A. Lee, 75, died Wednesday, May 26, 2004 at her residence.
Born Oct. 3, 1928 in Morris, Okla., she was a member of Second Baptist Church in Greenville and was a housewife.
The daughter of Isaac Armstrong and Minnie Schweikhard, she was preceded in death by her husband, X.R. Lee and daughter, Donna Jean Lee.
Survivors include two sons, Tommy Lee of Greenville and Johnny Lee of Indiana; three sisters, Ada Dunn of Ft. Myers, Fla., Merleavo Davenport of Ellingsburg, Wash., and Marbara Pennington of Lawton, Okla.; one brother, James Armstrong of Houma, La.; and several nieces and nephews.

Born in Muhlenberg County, Nov. 26, 1963, he was a self - employed carpet installer for 17 years and a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church in Bremen.
Survivors include his wife of 16 years, Kristina Woosnam Bailey; two sons, Travis Glynn and Matthew Bailey; his mother, Roberta (Donnie) Harris of Owensboro; his father, Sherman Ray (Pauline) Bailey of Belton; a sister, Teresa Hurt of Macon, Ga.; two stepsisters, Karen Morgan of Belton and Linda Kirby of Huntsville, Ky.; and several cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Carolyn Faye Sadler, 45, died Wednesday, May 26, 2004 as a result of an accident on the Western Kentucky Parkway.
Born in Chicago, Ill., Sept. 7, 1958, she was a C.N.A. at Beaver Dam Health Care Manor. She was preceded in death by her son, Jason Neal Sadler; father - in - law, Scott Justice and a brother - in - law, Denny Bevil.
Survivors include her husband, Ronnie Sadler of Central City; a daughter, Jessica Faye Sadler of Central City; her parents, Hazel and Samuel Garrett of Urbana, Ill.; an adopted daughter, Nicky Evitts of Eldarado, Ill.; five brothers, Earl, Gary and Peter Paul Garrett, all of Urbana, Ill., David Garrett of Indianapolis, Ind. and Sammy Garrett of Paducah; two sisters, Susan Bevil of Drakesboro and Luann Eaves of Central City; grandmother, Elnora Garrett of Drakesboro; mother - in - law, Eva Justice of Tennessee; two adopted grandchildren, Brandon Shane Hill and Sierra Danielle Piper; and several nieces and nephews.

Everett Preston Clemons, 85, died Saturday, May 29, 2004 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital.
Born in Muhlenberg County, April 18, 1919, he was a retired coal miner and a member of New Life Church in Powderly.
Survivors include his wife, Arizona Ward Clemons of Central City; two stepdaughters, Chree Lynn Simms and Carol Pendley, both of Central City; five step grandchildren; and four step great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m., May 30 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne Rice officiating. Burial followed in Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City.
William Hillard Collins
William Hillard Collins, 78, died Thursday, May 27, 2004 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital.
Born in Ohio County, March 3, 1926, to the late Rudolph Collins and Myrtle McNut Collins, he was a retired laborer at Tennessee Valley Authority and a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Central City.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy L. Collins of Central City; a son, William Collins, Jr. of Phoenix, Ariz.; a daughter, Susan Arnold of Pittsburg, Pa.; a brother, James Collins of Louisville; three sisters, Corrine Collins of Indianapolis, Ind., Grace O’Bannon of Cleveland, Ohio and Mary Elizabeth Hamilton of Central City; and one grandchild.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., June 1 at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Central City with the Rev. Otis Cunningham officiating. Burial followed in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Princeton. Gamble Funeral Home in Hopkinsville was in charge of arrangements.
Pauline Humphrey
GREENVILLE Pauline Humphrey, 79, died Monday, May 31, 2004 at Ridgewood Terrace in Madisonville.
Born in Newport, Ark., Feb. 7, 1925, to the late Charley and Edith Davis, she was lab technician for Dana Corporation and a member of the First Assembly of God in Greenville. She was preceded in death by a brother, David Davis and a sister, Connie Ivy.
Survivors include three sons, Mickey Gene Morgan and David Floyd Humphrey, both of Chicago, Ill. and Roger George Morgan of Greenville; four brothers, Cliff Davis of Little Rock, Ark., Jim Davis of Seattle, Wash., Don Davis of Newport, Ark. and Leslie Davis of Walker, La.; two sisters, Tacey Cravens of Jonesboro, Ark. and Shirley Davis of Newport, Ark.; and five grandchildren, Rose Ann Morgan, Allie Bornheimer, T.J. Bornheimer, Ken Morgan and Keith Morgan.

Jimmy Clay Norris, 53, died Wednesday, May 19, 2004 at Jewish Hospital in Louisville.
Born in Muhlenberg County, Oct. 24, 1949, he was a member of Paradise Baptist Church and the owner and operator of Norris Heating and Cooling.
Survivors include his wife, Wilma Faye Norris; a daughter, Yvette Anderson of Port Orange, Fla.; his mother, Louise Norris of Beech Creek; a sister, Carol McElvain of Greenville; and one grandchild.
Graveside funeral services were held at 11 a.m., May 21 at Union Cemetery in Butler County with the Rev. Tim Adcock officiating. Tucker Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Reverend Robert Daugherty
The Rev. Robert Daugherty, 88, died Wednesday, May 19, 2004 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville.
Born in Ohio County, Aug. 8, 1915, he was a member and minister at the Central City Apostolic Church for 45 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice Daugherty and a daughter, Betty Daugherty.
Survivors include a daughter, Delores Dukes of Central City; a son - in - law, Lowell Dukes of Central City; a sister, Ruby Renfrow of Greenville; a grandson, Billy Bob Dukes of Central City; a granddaughter, Staci James of Central City; a great - grandson, Lucas James; and several nieces and nephews.

James William Jowers, Jr.
MADISONVILLE - James William Jowers, Jr., 88, died Friday, May 21, 2004 at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville after a short illness.
Born in Jackson County, Tenn., the son of James William Jowers, Sr. and Sallie Pearl Fronabarger Jowers, he was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He retired from the Michigan Consolidated Gas Company in Detroit, Mich. as a draftsman.
Survivors include a son, Rodger Jowers of Newburgh, Ind.; a daughter, Linda Wheatley of Dixon; four grandchildren, Kimberly Smith of Dixon, Barbara West of Newburgh, Ind., John Jowers of Madisonville and Jennifer Richmond of Slaughters; and seven great - grandchildren.

Born in Muhlenberg County, Jan. 10, 1943, he was a self - employed tree trimmer and a member of Maple Grove Baptist Church. He was also a U.S. Army veteran.
