Felix “Rab” Ray

BREMEN ­ Felix “Rab” Ray, 93, died Thursday, May 13, 2004 at Belle Meade Nursing Home in Greenville.
Born in Webster County, Jan. 17, 1911, he was a retired manager of Stewart’s IGA Foodliner in Central City and a member of Mount Pisgah Baptist Church in Bremen. He was a veteran of World War II.
Survivors include nephew, Morris Melton of Virginia, and several other nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., May 16 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Bobby Reno officiating. Burial followed in Mount Pisgah Cemetery in Bremen.

Douglas Ray Lyon

GREENVILLE ­ Douglas Ray Lyon, 68, died Saturday, May 15, 2004 at Maple Manor Nursing Home after a lengthy illness.
Born in Muhlenberg County, July 20, 1935, the son of Jessie Owen Lyon and Anna Laura Kellem Lyon, he was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of the Nazarene Church of Henderson. He was a contractor who built homes in Henderson for 32 years before retiring in 1990 and loved to play gospel and bluegrass music on his guitar.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Bonnie Skipworth Lyon; a son, Dwayne (Melinda) Lyon of Henderson; a daughter, Theresa Lyon (Phillip) Pringle of Brentwood, Tenn.; a sister, Margie Fitzhugh of Powderly; and three grandchildren, Matthew Pringle, Stephanie Pringle and Laura Lyon.
Funeral services were held at 11:30 a.m., May 18 at Rosewood United Methodist Church with the Rev. Larry Fitzhugh officiating. Burial followed in Rosewood United Methodist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Greenriver Hospice.

Preston Ray Sharp, Jr.

KINGSPORT, TENN. ­ Preston Ray Sharp, Jr. died Thursday, May 13, 2004.
He was a graduate of Rockport High School, member of Nelson Creek Baptist Church in Central City and the Ceralvo FA&M Lodge #253. He was preceded in death by his parents, Preston and Doy Wright Sharp and a brother, William Wright Sharp.
Survivors include a sister, Judy Carol Sharp Bond of Kingsport; three nephews, Billy Ray Sharp of Central City and Terry Bond and Aaron Bond, both of Kingsport; two nieces, Lana Sharp Crowder of Nashville, Tenn. and Sherry Bond of Kingsport.
Graveside funeral services were held at 11 a.m., May 17 at Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City with the Rev. Donnie Wilkins officiating. Tucker Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Dorothy Jean “Dottie” Maxfield

ROCHESTER ­ Dorothy Jean “Dottie” Maxfield, 28, died Tuesday, May 11, 2004 at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville, Tenn.
Born in Daviess County, the daughter of James Robert “Bob” and Imogene Ferguson Maxfield, she was a 1993 graduate of Butler County High School and a 1995 graduate of Western Kentucky University. She was a R.N. at Bowling Green - Warren County Primary Care Center. She was a member of Rochester Missionary Baptist Church where she served as pianist and Sunday school teacher. She was also a foster parent. She was preceded in death by a sister, Janice Lynn Maxfield.
Survivors include her parents; a brother, Dave Maxfield of Rochester; two sisters, Sheila Stephens of Bowling Green and Kimberly D. Maxfield of Rochester; paternal grandmother, Esthlene Maxfield; a niece; four nephews; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., May 16 at Rochester Missionary Baptist Church. Burial followed in Rochester Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy can be made to the Kentucky Baptist Children’s Home. Jones Funeral Chapel in Morgantown was in charge of arrangements.

Doil Drake

BELTON ­ Doil Drake, 68, died Sunday, May 16, 2004 at his residence.
Born in Muhlenberg County, May 23, 1935, the son of the late David and Mildred Edding Drake, he was a retired steel worker and a member of Forest Oak Baptist Church in Belton.
Survivors include his wife, Karen DuBois Drake; three daughters, Barbara (Jeff) Gamble of Portage, Ind., Nancy (Jim) Miller of Greenville and Diana (Mel) Weaver of Crown Point, Ind.; two brothers, Argle (JoNell) Drake of Owensboro and Ronnie (Mary) Drake of Belton; four sisters, Lenora (Elmer) Link of Griffith, Ind., Ausalene (Boyce) Pendley of Belton, Sue (Jackie) Beliles of Drakesboro and Shirley (Wayne) Dukes of Beechmont; his stepmother, Dora Drake of Belton; nine grandchildren; and three great - grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., May 19 at Tucker Beechmont Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne Dukes, the Rev. Brian Haire and the Rev. Gene McGehee officiating. Burial will follow in Mud River Union Cemetery in Belton.

Mary Agnes Hancock

RUSSELLVILLE - Mary Agnes Hancock, 90, died Saturday, May 7, 2005 in Beverly Healthcare Center in Springfield, Tenn.
Born in Louisville Dec. 10, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Lillie Palmer.
Survivors include a son, John Hancock of Russellville; two sisters, June Negley of Evansville and Margie McGinnus of Louisville; a brother, Gene Palmer of Denver, Colo. and a granddaughter.
Funeral services were held at noon May 10 at Gary’s Funeral Home with John Hancock officiating. Burial followed in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Bertha Huggins Wood

GREENVILLE - Bertha Huggins Wood, 71, died Monday, May 9, 2005 at her residence after several weeks of illness.
Born in Muhlenberg County Feb. 9, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Arthur David Huggins and Lula Anthem Staples Huggins. She was a homemaker, housewife and a member of First Baptist Church in Greenville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Wood Sr. in 2003 and a daughter, Lu Ann Wood in 1987.
Survivors include two sons, Robert L. Wood Jr. of Erin, Tenn. and John Layne Wood of Louisville; a sister, Marjorie Delliger of Harrison, Michigan and a grandson, John David Wood of Erin, Tenn.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. May 12 at Gary’s Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary McAbee officiating. Burial followed in Cherry Grove Cemetery in Weir.

Izona Case

ELKTON - Izona Case, 63, died Wednesday, May 11, 2005 at her residence.
Born in Muhlenberg County Sept. 21, 1941, she was the daughter Eva Groves Cobb of Sacramento and the late Tom Cobb. She was a homemaker and a member of the Adairville Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Bernice Edward “Buddy” Case and James Kevin “Meatball” Case, both of Elkton; a stepson, Delmar Case of Elkton; a daughter, Connie Jean Jones of Monticello; three stepdaughters, Linda Sue Cobb and Joyce Case, both of Hopkinsville and Shirley Lawson of Scottsville; a sister, Martha Ann Sutton of Sacramento; 20 grandchildren and 23 great - grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. May 14 at Latham Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary Chapman officiating. Burial followed in Stokes Chapel Cemetery.

Mirtie Strader

CLIFTY - Mirtie Strader, 88, died Thursday, May 12, 2005 at her residence.
Born in Muhlenberg County March 7, 1917, she was the daughter of the late John Thomas and Dellar Welborn McGehee. She was a homemaker and a member of the New Harmony General Baptist Church for 76 years. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Edwin Earl Strader and a son Carl Strader.
Survivors include six sons, Lawrence Strader and Donald Strader, both of Elkton, Milford Strader, Billy Strader and Buin Strader, all of Clifty and Jimmy Strader of Morgantown; two daughters, Jo Nell Wells of Greenville and Shelia Hancock of Russellville; three brothers, Hazel McGehee and R.Y. McGehee, both of Greenville and Howard McGehee of Murray; two sisters, Maltie Wells of Clifty and Christine Miller of Louisville; 21 grandchildren and 32 great - grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. May 15 at the New Harmony General Baptist Church with the Rev. Tony Evitts officiating. Burial followed in the Strader Cemetery. Latham Funeral Home in Elkton was in charge of the arrangements.

Pauline Watkins Quisenberry

GREENVILLE - Pauline Watkins Quisenberry, 92, died Friday, May 13, 2005 at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville after a lengthy illness.
Born in Nebo Jan. 13, 1913, she was the daughter of the late Frank Watkins and Gertrude McDonald Watkins. She was a housewife, homemaker and a member of Greenville Main Street Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Quisenberry in 1981, a daughter, Margaret Manning in 2000 and a great - grandson, Brandt Paradis in 2000.
Survivors include two daughters, Nancy (Ken) Evitts and Glenda Ford, both of Greenville; five sons, Jerry Quisenberry of Graham, David Quisenberry, Thomas (LaDon) Quisenberry, Larry (Clara) Quisenberry, all of Greenville and Bobby (Rose) Quisenberry of Central City; three sisters, Mary Williams of Central City, Lois Eaves of Greenville and Jeannine Fitzhugh of Hammond, Ind.; 21 grandchildren; 31 great - grandchildren and 3 great - great - grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. May 16 at Gary’s Funeral Home with her son, Thomas Quisenberry officiating. Burial followed in Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Powderly.

Jane S. Bannister

HENDERSON - Jane S. Bannister, 72, died Monday, May 9, 2005 at her residence.
Born in Graham Aug. 8, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Bridgette Spinks. She was of the Baptist Faith and a member of Eastern Star.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Robert Bannister; three sons, John Robert Bannister, Tony Marcus Bannister, both of Henderson and Derek Alan Bannister of Madisonville; a sister, Nancy S. Teague of Henderson; 10 grandchildren and 5 great - grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at noon May 11 at Benton - Glunt Funeral Home in Henderson with the Rev. Bill Bingham and Father Jason McClure officiating. Burial followed in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Henderson.
Memorial Contributions may be sent to Henderson County Diabetes Coalition, American Cancer Society or St. Anthony’s Hospice.

Mary Joyce Williams

Mary Joyce Williams, 79, died Monday, May 1, 2006 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital.
Born in Muhlenberg County, June 3, 1926, she was a homemaker and member of Sharon General Baptist Church in Greenville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Williams; a son, Ronnie Williams and a daughter, Linda Moore.
Survivors include a daughter, Phyllis (Bobby) Doss of Central City; two sisters, Lois Eaves of Powderly and Jeanine Fitzhugh of Hammond, Ind.; a daughter - in - law, Karen Williams of Central City; three grandchildren; Melinda (Tim) Hale and Chris Doss, both of Central City and Brady (Whitney) Williams of Lexington and five great grandchildren, Eli Doss, Bailee Hale, Macey Hale, Carter Hale and Courtney Hale.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. May 5 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Larry Shadowen, the Rev. Tony Evitts and the Rev. Roger Putnam officiating. Burial followed at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Central City. Expressions of sympathy can be made to Sharon General Baptist Church Building Fund.

Addie W. Vandygriff

BREMEN – Addie W. Vandygriff, 81, died Tuesday, May 9, 2006 at Regional Medical Center.
Born in Muhlenberg County, Dec. 30, 1924, she was a homemaker and attended Bremen Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Bessie Whitmer and a sister, Jessie Hendricks.
Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Harold Vandygriff; a daughter, Marilyn (Bro. Tom) Carroll; a sister, Irene Boykin; a granddaughter, Beth Ann Carroll and a grandson, Ricky Carroll, all of Bremen.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. May 11 at Tucker Memorial Chapel in Sacramento with the Rev. J.W. Haire officiating. Burial followed at Shaver’s Chapel Cemetery in Bremen.

Ruth Boren Lester

CADIZ – Ruth Boren Lester, 70, died Tuesday, May 9, 2006 at her residence.
Born in Lafayette, Ky., July 23, 1935, she was a member of Linton United Methodist Church and retired from the Cabinet for Families and Children Community Based Services where she was a secretary for 32 years. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Fred Boren; her mother, Dolly Atkins Boren; a brother, Odell Boren and two sisters, Betty Ann Hill and Mary Grace Boren.
Survivors include her husband, E.S. Lester; two sons, Jeff Lester and Jason Lester, both of Cadiz; three sisters, Dorothy Jenkins, Louise Jessup and Margie Boren, all of Greenville; two step - brothers, J.W. Jones of Morganfield and Jim Jones of Central City and two grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. May 11 at Goodwin Funeral Home in Cadiz with the Rev. Irvin Darnall officiating. Burial followed at Boren Cemetery in Trigg Co. Memorial contributions may be made to Pennyroyal Hospice, 101 W. 18th St., Hopkinsville, KY 42240.

Clifford Arnold

DRAKESBORO – Clifford Arnold, 92, died Tuesday, May 9, 2006 at Belle Meade Nursing Home in Greenville.
Born in Muhlenberg County, June 15, 1913, he was a member of Dunmor Baptist Church and a retired coal miner from Caney Creek Coal Mines. He was preceded in death by his parents, Abner and Ellie Arnold; two grandsons, David Casebier and Raymond Arnold, Jr. and six brothers.
Survivors include his wife, Nora Reeves Arnold; a son, Raymond (Bea) Arnold of Central City; two daughters, Sandra (Bill) Beasley of Caneyville and Dorothy (Glendall) Casebier of Drakesboro; a sister, Irene Hicks of Evansville; two grandsons, Danny Beasley and Jim Casebier; two granddaughters, Kim Washburn and Elizabeth Mullen; four great - granddaughters, Kristen Washburn, Audra Jenkins, Michelle Jenkins and Stephanie Casebier; three great - grandsons, Chad Arnold, Jarrod Arnold and Stephen Washburn and five great - great granddaughters, Carly Arnold, Erin Phelps, Ellie Phelps, Erika Phelps and Jessy Jenkins.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. May 11 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Russ Stephens and the Rev. James Watt Sr. officiating. Burial followed at Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City.
