GREENVILLE – Matilda Jane “Tillie” Dukes, 82, died Tuesday, May 9, 2006 at the home of her son and daughter - in - law, with whom she lived, following a lengthy illness.
Born in Muhlenberg County, Jan. 10, 1924, she was the daughter of Robert Hale Whitlow and Mary Elizabeth Wall Whitlow. The last surviving child of eight children, she was preceded in death by her husband, Derald Dukes and a great granddaughter, Kara Beth Swanson. She was a member of Willow Glen Church of Christ.
Survivors include a son, Roger (Ann) Dukes of Rosewood; a daughter, Marsha (Don) Swanson of Lumberton, Tex.; four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. May 12 at Gary’s Funeral Home with Mr. James Fox and Mr. Jimmy Jenkins officiating. Burial followed at Cherry Grove Cemetery.
Wilma Lois Sapp Brooks
DRAKESBORO – Wilma Lois Sapp Brooks, 83, died Wednesday, May 10, 2006 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Born in Muhlenberg County, Dec. 19, 1922, she was the daughter of Isome Sapp and Lizzie Edna Lovell Sapp. A housewife and homemaker, she was of the Holiness faith. Including her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Morris Brooks; two sisters, Virgie Lee Sapp and Hazel Modean Sapp; three brothers, Nolan Sapp, William Euell Sapp and Lonnie Edison Sapp and a daughter, Eunice Fay Brooks.
Survivors include three sons, Gerald Ray (Katherine) Brooks of Powderly and Dinford Earl (Louise) Brooks and James Lindell (Evelyn) Brooks, both of Greenville; five daughters, Rebecca Lois Rose of Greenville, Naomi Kay Langley, Opal May (Anthony) Cain and Barbara Ann (Mark) Butler, all of Belton and Ruth Marie Garrett of Drakesboro; three brothers, Dinsel Ordell (Wilma) Sapp of Belton, Ivan Eugene (Betty Joe) Sapp of Greenville and Hubert Lindel (Ethel) Sapp of Beech Creek; a sister, Eula Lucille (Joe) Clemente of Greenville; 29 grandchildren, David Rose, Karen Ewing, Shawn Rose, Gerald Jr., John Carl, Ricky Dale, Mary Katherine, Carol Ann, Patricia, Daniel, Tommy, Gerald, James Jr., Kevin, Scotty, Angel, Jason, Crystal, Denise, Darla, John, Lori, Rickey, Tonya, Lucas, Priscilla, Natasha, Faith and Ashley and 49 great - grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. May 13 at Gary’s Funeral Home with the Rev. Gene McGehee officiating. Burial followed at Jackson Cemetery at Leigh’s Chapel Church in Greenville.
Tona Francis Faulk
MORTONS GAP – Tona Francis Faulk, 82, died Monday, May 8, 2006 at Regional Medical Center.
Born in Kentucky, Feb. 26, 1924, she was a homemaker and attended Mortons Gap First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her father, Bud Cox; her mother, Bertha Cox; a brother, Thurman Cox and a sister, Mary Virginia Moore.
Survivors include her husband, Robert W. Faulk; two sons, Larry Faulk of Mortons Gap and Terry Faulk of Hopkinsville; two daughters, LaWana Crick of Madisonville and Joan Martin of Bremen; seven grandchildren, seven great - grandchildren and a great - great grandchild.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. May 11 at Bandy Funeral Home in Nortonville with the Rev. Len Young and the Rev. Ron Wingo officiating. Burial followed at Salem Cemetery in Mortons Gap.

BREMEN – Robert D. Vincent, 62, died Sunday, May 14, 2006 at Riverside Manor in Calhoun.
Born in Muhlenberg County, May 8, 1944, he was a self - employed brick layer and a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church in Bremen.
Survivors include his wife of 24 years, Rosalie Vincent; a son, Rickie (Beth) Vincent; three daughters, Tammy Vincent and Kay (Jeff) Dukes, both of Greenville and Michelle Vincent and Jeff Jones of Bremen; his mother, Gracie Vincent of Bremen; a brother, Jimmy Vincent of Bremen; three sisters, Geneva Kyle and Nellodean Evans, both of Bremen and Connie Harrin of Greenville; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. May 16 at Tucker Funeral Home. Burial followed at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Bremen.
Larry Wayne Donovan
BREMEN – Larry Wayne Donovan, 44, died Saturday, May 13, 2005 at Regional Medical Center.
Born in Hopkins County, May 1, 1962, he was employed by General Electric in Madisonville as a die tester and was a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church in Bremen. He was preceded in death by his father, Giles Donovan and a step - sister, Angie Ball.
Survivors include his mother and step - father, Judy and Wayne Ball of Bremen; a brother, Troy Donovan of Bremen; a sister, Cathy Smith of Bremen; three step brothers, Wally Ball, Chris Ball and Darrin Ball, all of Bremen and an aunt and uncle, Stan and Sue Rice of Madisonville.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. May 16 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Ted Everly officiating. Burial followed at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Bremen.
Willajean Pendley Knight
GREENVILLE – Willajean Pendley Knight, 71, died Sunday, May 14, 2006 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital.
Born in Muhlenberg County, Aug. 31, 1934, she was a homemaker and member of Riverside Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Knight; a daughter, Daphine Knight and a grandson, Robert E. Knight.
Survivors include three sons, Richard Knight and Charles A. Knight, both of Bowling Green and Kenneth Knight of Luzerne; a daughter, Cynthia A. Knight Jones of Covington; a brother, Alfred Pendley of Elkton; a sister, Mary Crawford of Bellevue, Mich. and two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. May 17 at Riverside Baptist Church in Drakesboro with the Rev. Mike Chambers officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Drakesboro. Ms. Knight will lie in state from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 17 at Riverside Baptist Church. Tucker Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Raymond Roy Young
MADISONVILLE – Raymond Roy Young, 77, formerly of Greenville, died Wednesday, May 10, 2006 at Regional Medical Center.
Born in Bloomington, Ill., Nov. 19, 1928, he was the son of the late Coy Oscar Young and Alta Boswell Young. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Cleo J. Young and two brothers. A retired machinist for General Electric in Tell City, Ind. and a retired minister of the Apostolic Pentecostal faith, he was a U.S. Navy veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Datha Gary Young of Madisonville, originally of Greenville; two daughters, Janice Wynn of New Albany, Ind. and Anita Brooks of Smyrna, Tenn.; a step - son, Chuck Bridges of Naples, Fla.; four sisters, Ava Wilson of Milwaukee, Wis., Gladys Rustemeyer of Bloomington, Ill., Dorothy Barbee of Lafayette, Ind. and Helen Thomas of West Lafayette, Ind.; eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 7:30 p.m. May 11 at the Praise Temple in Madisonville with the Rev. Philip Cook and the Rev. Richard Sisk officiating. Burial followed at the Rest Haven Memorial Park in Lafayette, Ind. Memorial gifts may take the form of donations to the Praise Temple or the Mahr Cancer Center in Madisonville. Morris Dale Ford
BREMEN - Morris Dale Ford, 58, of Bremen, died Thursday, May 8, 2003 at the Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville.
Born Aug. 23, 1944 in Muhlenberg County, he was a member of the Brier Creek Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He had been custodian at Bremen School for 13 years and was a miner for 21 years. He was preceded in death by his father, Dennis Ford.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Gregory Ford; one son, Steve (Patty) Ford of Bremen; two grandsons, Josh Rickard and Jacob Rickard; two brothers, Clayton Ford of Bremen and Harold Ford of Tampa, Fla.; and his mother, Myrtle Ford of Bremen.
Funeral services were held Sunday, May 11, at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City. Burial followed in the Brier Creek Cemetery in Bremen.
C. Dean Ellis
SACRAMENTO - C. Dean Ellis, 62, of Sacramento, died Wednesday, May 7, 2003, at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville.
Born Nov. 7, 1940 in McLean County, he was an electrician and a coal miner. He also worked in mining construction and was a member of the Sacramento Masonic Lodge #735 and the Order of Eastern Star #67.
He is survived by his wife, Willena “Jody” Ellis; one son, James Dean Ellis of Philadelphia, Pa.; three stepsons, Kenneth Blakeley of Livermore, Bill Blakeley of Bowling Green and David Blakeley of Bowling Green; his mother, Audra Ellis of Sacramento; one brother, James Elllis of Sacramento; two sisters, Martha Markwell of Sacramento and Margie McLaughlin of Rumsey; several grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Masonic services were held Thursday, May 8. Funeral services were held Friday, May 9, at Tucker Memorial Chapel in Sacramento. Burial followed in West Union Cemetery in McLean County. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Sacramento Masonic Lodge Building Fund.
Wanda Nadine Brewer
FORT BRANCH, IND. - Wanda Nadine Brewer, 74, of Fort Branch, Ind. died Monday, May 5, at Deaconess Hospice Center in Evansville, Ind.
Born Jan. 9, 1929 in Muhlenberg County, she was the daughter of the late Claude and Clara (Ward) Addison. She was a member of the Princeton Church of Christ, was a Sunday school teacher and was active in Bible school. Her hobbies were sewing and quilting. She was also very active in T.O.P.S. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Tim Brewer, who died in 1972; and one grandson, Jason Geary, who died in 1995.
She is survived by three children, Dalyne Mooney of Peoria, Ill., Debbie Bray of Ann Arbor, Mich. and Dan Brewer of Fort Branch, Ind.; two brothers, Bermon Addison of Robards, Ky. and Vernon Addison of Elkton; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, May 9, at the Stodghill Funeral Home in Fort Branch. Burial followed in Walnut Hill Cemetery in Fort Branch. OWENSVILLE, IND. - Clara Bevil, 88, of Owensville, Ind., died Tuesday, May 6, at Owensville Convalescent Center.
Born Dec. 11, 1914 in Daviess County, she was a homemaker and a member of Forest Oak Baptist Church.
She is survived by two sons, Jewell Ray Bevil and David Bevil, both of Griffith, Ind.; two daughters, Viola Gaston of Princeton, Ind. and Shirley Mosby of Hobart, Ind.; 12 grandchildren; six great - grandchildren; and one brother, J. C. Sumner of Franklin, N.C.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 10, at Tucker Beechmont Funeral Home. Burial followed in Union Chapel Cemetery.
James (Jay) Edward Clark
GREENVILLE - James (Jay) Edward Clark, 65, of Greenville, died Saturday, May 10, 2003 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital after a short illness.
Born Oct. 3, 1937 in Hopkins County to Onnie and Wallace Clark, he was a long - time member of the Second Baptist Church in Greenville. He was a ten year veteran of the Air Force and retired after 30 years as an electrician from Peabody Coal Company. He was preceded in death by his parents, Onnie and Wallace Clark; his daughter, Deborah Ann Clark and one sister, Martha Ann Clark.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Amy B. Clark; two sons, William E. Clark of Russellville and Franklin E. Clark of Beechmont; three grandchildren; and three brothers, Donald Clark and Kenneth Clark of Madisonville; and Roger Clark of Terre Haute, Ind.
Visitation will be at 5 pm. Tuesday, May 13, at Gary’s Funeral Home in Greenville. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 14, also at Gary’s Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Kubach officiating. Burial will follow in Bethlehem Cemetery in Madisonville.
Celia Mae Whitney
HAMMOND, IND. - Celia Mae Whitney, 91, of Hammond, Ind., died Friday, May 9, 2003.
She was a retiree of Queen Anne Candy Company in Hammond and a member of Hoffman Street Southern Baptist Church where she volunteered her time at the drop - in center. She also volunteered at the Salvation Army and enjoyed spending time with family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Corbit Dayton Harvey Whitney.
She is survived by three daughters, Mae (Cecil) Goggans of Dyer, Ind., Sue (Luther) Webb of Springfield, Tenn. and Ann (Luke, deceased) Mosley of Whitesboro, Ala.; seven grandchildren; five great - grandchildren; and one sister, Opal Lee Mattingly of Morganfield, Ky.
Visitation will be Wednesday, noon to 2 p.m., at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City, followed by graveside services and burial at Forest Grove Cemetery in Browder. Funeral services were held Monday, May 12, at Bocken Funeral Home in Hammond.

Mary Joyce Williams, 79, died Monday, May 1, 2006 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital.
Born in Muhlenberg County, June 3, 1926, she was a homemaker and member of Sharon General Baptist Church in Greenville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Williams; a son, Ronnie Williams and a daughter, Linda Moore.
Survivors include a daughter, Phyllis (Bobby) Doss of Central City; two sisters, Lois Eaves of Powderly and Jeanine Fitzhugh of Hammond, Ind.; a daughter - in - law, Karen Williams of Central City; three grandchildren; Melinda (Tim) Hale and Chris Doss, both of Central City and Brady (Whitney) Williams of Lexington and five great grandchildren, Eli Doss, Bailee Hale, Macey Hale, Carter Hale and Courtney Hale.

Linville James “L.J.” Putty
HOPKINSVILLE – Linville James “L.J.” Putty, 83, died Monday, May 1, 2006 at his residence.
Born in Muhlenberg County, April 1, 1923, he was a member of Henderson Memorial Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for years. He was a carpenter and a WWII U.S. Army Air Corp Veteran. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Sarah Elizabeth Boyd Putty in 1979; an infant daughter, Brenda Putty; his parents, Roy Elgin and Beulah Marie Elkins Putty; a brother, Lee Putty and a grandson.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Putty; two sons, Jim Putty of Christian Co. and Jeff Putty of Hopkinsville; a step - son, Bruce Orten of Christian Co.; a daughter, Debbie Thorn of Hopkinsville; two brothers, Launie Ray Putty of Christian Co. and Donald Putty of Hopkins Co.; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Eula Delaney Brister
DRAKESBORO – Eula Delaney Brister, 95, died Wednesday, May 3, 2006 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital.
Born in Muhlenberg County, Nov. 4, 1910, she was a homemaker and member of Union Chapel General Baptist Church. Formerly employed by Calumet Township School in Gary, Ind., she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy O. Brister and an infant daughter, Carolyn Faye Brister.
Survivors include four sons, Oscar Brister of Drakesboro, Donald Brister of Cedar Lake, Ind., Phillip Brister of Parsons, Tenn. and Russel Brister of Sebree; a sister, Vesta Annes of Indianapolis; 11 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. May 6 at Tucker Beechmont Funeral Home with the Rev. Leamon Mefford officiating. Burial followed at Union Chapel Cemetery in Drakesboro.
