Survivors include her husband, Raymond Cobb; two sons, Thomas (Teresa) Cobb of Greenville and Clarence (Bonnie) Cobb of Madisonville; four daughters, Penny (Edward) Bethel, Lisa (Fred) Bailey, Sherry (David) Cunningham and Melissa McElvain, all of Greenville; a brother, Harold Gray of Greenville; a sister, Joyce Clark of Greenville; 29 grandchildren and four great - grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. May 2 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Neal officiating. Burial followed at Oak Grove Cemetery in Depoy.
Dolores Cohen Newman
LAKE FOREST, ILL. – Dolores Cohen Newman, 68, formerly of Greenville, died Friday, April 14, 2006 .
Born in Muhlenberg County, Aug. 5, 1937, she was a 36 - year resident of Lake Forest, Ill. and a graduate of Barat College. She was preceded in death by her mother, Rose Cohen.
Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Roger Newman; three sons, Mark of Illinois and Gregory and Matthew of Wisconsin; her father, Julius Cohen; a brother, Charles; two sisters, Marcia and Beverly; two grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Oather L. Staples
LAKE STATION, IND. – Oather L. Staples, 70, died Wednesday, April 26, 2006 at the University of Chicago Hospital.
Born in Muhlenberg County, Aug. 8, 1935, he was a Lake Station resident for 50 years and retired from U.S. Steel in Gary, Ind. after 40 1/2 years of service. A member of the First Baptist Church of New Chicago, he was preceded in death by his parents, Taft and Darlott Staples.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia; three sons, James Staples of Portage, Ind., James Davis and Juston Staples, both of Lake Station; a daughter, Lisa Steele of Lake Station; four brothers, Ray Staples of Michigan City, Bill Staples and James Staples, both of LaPorte, Ind. and Bernie Staples of Drakesboro; a sister, Elizabeth Hall of W.V.; eight grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. May 2 at First Baptist Church of New Chicago with Pastor Bill Barrow officiating. Burial followed at Calvary Cemetery in Portage, Ind. Rees Funeral Home in Hobart, Ind. was in charge of arrangements.
Thomas Noffsinger Jr.
ROSEWOOD - Thomas Noffsinger Jr., 79, of Rosewood, died Sunday, April 20, 2003, at Owensboro Mercy Health System.
Born May 6, 1923 in Muhlenberg County, he was a member of Trinity Pentecostal Church and was a retired overhead crane operator. He had been employed at General Motors in Willow Springs, Ill. He was a veteran, having served in World War II. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Gracy Carver Noffsinger; his parents, Thomas and Jodie Harper Noffsinger; one brother and two sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Nadine Robertson Noffsinger; three sons, Edmond (Terry) Noffsinger of Leroy, Ill, Jackie (Juanita) Noffsinger of Campus, Ill. and Jim Noffsinger of Morton, Ill.; two daughters, Delores (Bill) Beasley of Gilbertsville, Ky. and Darnell (Don) Christerson of Dwight, Ill.; three stepsons, Windell (Janet) Mayes of Cherryville, Kan., Earl (Carolyn) Mayes and Carl (Lisa) Mayes, both of Greenville; 17 grandchildren; 19 great - grandchildren; 10 step grandchildren; seven step great - grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 23, at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City. Burial followed at Gish Cemetery in Bremen.
Laura Diane Dukes Green
Laura Diane Dukes Green, 49, of Central City, died Wednesday, April 23, 2003, at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville.
Born Feb. 12, 1954 in Muhlenberg County, she was a member of the New Cypress Baptist Church in Greenville. She was a clerk at the Family Dollar in Central City.
She is survived by her husband, Charles Green; two sons, Jason Lear of Covington and Jamie Lear of Penrod; stepdaughter, Crystal Gish of Greenville; one granddaughter, Emma Lear of Penrod; her father, Ralph Dukes of Central City; two brothers, Steve Dukes of Bremen and Larry Dukes of Floyd Knob, Ind.; two sisters, Mary Jane Kipling of Central City and Becky Harris of Bristol, Tenn.
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 26, at Tucker Funeral Home. Burial followed in New Cypress Cemetery in Greenville.
David Evans Lindsey
CLEATON - David Evans Lindsey, 60, of Cleaton, died Thursday, April 24, 2003, at Owensboro Mercy Health System.
Born Oct. 8, 1942 in Butler County, he had been employed at CSX Railroad.
He is survived by one son, David Scott Lindsey of Cleaton; three daughters, Tammy Lewis of Cleaton, Regina Fleming of Rochester and Mary Ann Tinkle of Sacramento; seven grandchildren; his mother, Maxine Lindsey of Cleaton; one brother, Donald Lindsey of Jetson; and three sisters, Christine Phelps of Jetson, Janice McGrew of Browder and Linda Neal of Louisville.
Funeral services were held Friday, April 25, at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. T. H. Davis officiating. Burial followed in Miller Cemetery at Cleaton.
Martha Lester Corum
Martha Lester Corum, 89, of Central City, died Tuesday, April 22, 2003, at her residence.
Born Dec. 9, 1913 in Henderson, she was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Central City. She and her husband, Bill Lester owned and operated Lester Motors in Central City from 1952 to 1972. She continued until 1978 when she sold her dealership to her son - in - law, Stuart Bohne. She was a member of the First National Bank Board of Directors where she was also former chairwoman. She has also served as past president of the Central City Lioness Club and served on the Central City City Council from 1983 - 1995. She was preceded in death by husbands, William Lester and Otto Corum.
She is survived by her daughter, Jeanie (Stuart) Bohne of Central City; two grandchildren; six great - grandchildren; one sister, Gottie Clark of Central City; one brother, George Jeter of Booneville, Ind.; one stepson, Frank Corum of Madisonville; one stepdaughter, Ann Corum Cummins of Madisonville; and one foster child, Susie Chumley of Central City.
Funeral services were held Thursday, April 24, at the First United Methodist Church in Central City. Burial followed in Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the First United Methodist Church Memorial Fund. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Terry Lynn Wood
DRAKESBORO - Terry Lynn Wood, 46, of Drakesboro, died Monday, April 21, 2003, at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville.
Born Oct. 6, 1956 in Muhlenberg County, he was of the Pentecostal faith and was a construction worker.
He is survived by one son, Eric Wood of Drakesboro; one daughter, Jill Mohon of Drakesboro; three grandchildren; his father, James A. Wood of Drakesboro; two brothers, Tommy Wood of Beechmont and Donnie Wood of Belton; and one sister, Thelma Saddler of South Carrollton.
Funeral services were held Thursday, April 24, at Tucker Beechmont Funeral Home with the Rev. Chris Vaught officiating. Burial followed in Hazel Creek Cemetery.
Earl F. Kiper
GREENVILLE - Earl F. Kiper, 80, of Greenville, died Monday, April 21, 2003, at his residence.
Born Nov. 26, 1922 in Muhlenberg County, he was of the Baptist faith and was retired from Valemite in Michigan where he was a tool maker. He was a member of the Elks Lodge.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Blythe Kiper; two sons, Kenneth Kiper of Pontiac, Mich. and Ronald Kiper of Douglasville, Ga.; one daughter, Bonita Warren of Hartford; eight grandchildren; and three nephews.
Funeral services were held Thursday, April 24, at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City with the Rev. Sylvester Vaught officiating. Burial followed in Rose Hill Cemetery at Central City.
Louis Harold Villines
GREENVILLE - Louis Harold Villines, 87, of Greenville, died Tuesday, April 22, at his residence.
Born April 18, 1916 in Webster County, he was a member of Greenville First Baptist Church and had served as deacon since 1967. He was retired from the U.S. Dept of Agriculture in 1979 after 40 years as area supervisor for several counties in Western Kentucky for the Farmers Home Administration. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, having served in World War II. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Clay and Fannie Sigler Villines; one sister, Agnes Hill; and grandson - in - law, Jonathan Hobgood.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Evelyn Cooper Villines of Greenville; one daughter, Judy Whitmer of Bremen; one granddaughter, Erica Hobgood of Powderly; one sister, Thelma Coffman of Providence; one brother, Jimmy Villines of Dixon; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Friday, April 25, at Gary’s Funeral Home in Greenville with the Revs. Gary McAbee and Rob Gwaltney officiating. Burial followed in Evergreen Cemetery at Greenville.
Arthur L. Knight
BEECHMONT - Arthur L. Knight, 80, of Beechmont, died Wednesday, April 23, 2003 at his residence.
Born April 17, 1923 in Muhlenberg County, he was a retired steel worker and coal miner. He was a member of the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Drakesboro and was also a member of the Masonic Lodge. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sheila Faye Horne; his parents, Ethel and Will Knight and by nine brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Gladys Knight; two sons, William Roger Knight of Drakesboro and Michael Arthur Knight of Maryville, Tenn.; four daughters, Brenda May Guida of St. Louis, Shirley Knight of Hammond, Ind., Peggy Williams of Belton and Barbara Smith of London, Ky.; 17 grandchildren; 14 great - grandchildren; three brothers, James Knight of Pontiac, Mich., Marion Knight of DeMont, Ind. and Royce Knight of Pontiac, Mich.; and one sister, Betty Steele of Beechcreek.
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 26, at the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Drakesboro. Burial followed in Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery. Tucker Beechmont Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Lucy Embry
Lucy Embry, 93, of Central City, died Saturday, April 26, 2003, at her residence.
Born Nov. 30, 1913 in Grayson County, she was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy.
She is survived by four sons, Charles Embry of Central City, James Embry of Greenville, Franklin Embry of Drakesboro and Rev. Louis Embry of Hopkinsville; three daughters, Lorie Beliles and Linda Embry, both of Central City and Brenda Hodges of Hartford; fourteen grandchildren; and 18 great - grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 29, at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City with the Revs. Arnold Harper and Roy Ellis officiating. Burial followed in Rose Hill Cemetery, also in Central City.
Neville H. Rust
GREENVILLE - Neville H. Rust, 75, of Greenville died Saturday, April 26, at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville.
A member of Rosewood Methodist Church and a retired veteran of the Air Force, he was a member of Pennyrile Allied Community Services where he served on the Board of Directors for 15 years. He was the chairman of the PACS Board for two terms and was currently Chairman of the PACS finance committee. He was also a member of the PACS Building and Executive Committees. He retired as supervisor with the Tennessee Valley Authority in 1983 and was a former Commissioner of the Muhlenberg County Water District. He was a member of the Muhlenberg County Joint City/County Planning Commission and an active member of the Pennyrile Area Development District where he was the Chairman of the Board of Directors for two years, served on the Executive Committee and the West Kentucky Development Council. He was also the Chairman of the PADD Aging Committee.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Hattie Rust of Greenville; two daughters, Elaine (Phillip) Calvert of Scottsville and and Roxanne (Dale) Todd of Greenville; one sister, Chauncey Dearmond of Greenville; three grandchildren, Lance Todd of Greenville, Patrick Wagoner of Scottsville and Kelly Todd Flemetakis of Seattle, Washington; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Monday, April 28, at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City. Burial followed in Evergreen Cemetery in Greenville. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Foundation.
Jerry Lee Maynard
GALLATIN, TENN. - Jerry Lee Maynard, 64, of Gallatin, died Thursday, April 24, 2003, at his residence.
Born April 11, 1939 in Evansville, he was an acccoutant with Equipment Finers, Inc. He was a member of the Faith Missionary Baptist Church in Clarksville, Tenn. and was a veteran of the U.S. Marines. He was preceded in death by his father, George Maynard.
He is survived by his wife, Lanette Lacefield Maynard; his mother, Libby Williams of Evansville; one sister, Phyllis Beumer of Evansville; three sons, Ruset Maynard of Vincennes, Ind., Bret Maynard of Owensboro and Tim Emerson of Clarksville; four daughters, Julie Bevil of Beaver Dam, Andrea Sheldon of Sarasota, Fla., Jan Keen and Kelli Maddox of Clarksville; 11 grandchildren; and one brother, Ken Maynard of Erlanger, Ky.
Funeral services were held Monday, April 28, at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City. Burial followed in Fairmount Cemetery in Central City.
Jerie L. Bennett
Jerie L. Bennett, 66, of Hillview died Sunday, April 27, 2003, at Norton Audubon Hospital after a battle with heart disease and arthritis.
Born Oct. 1, 1936 in Greenville, the son of Eddie and Flora Uzzell Bennett, he was a machinist for Republic Industries and was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Wilkerson Bennett; one daughter, Lori Ann McMullan; four sons, Stephen K. Bennett, Michael A. Bennett, Paul E. Bennett and Kenneth W. Bennett; three brothers Ned Bennett, Cecil Bennett and Tommy Bennett; three sisters, Frieda Stewart, Sharon Sullivan and Linda Carter; six grandchildren; four great - grandchildren; and a host of other relatives, nephews, nieces and friends.
Visitation will be held from 1 9 p.m. Tuesday, April 29, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at family - owned Schoppenhorst, Underwood & Brooks, Preston Highway at Brooks Road. A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 30, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 299 Crestwood Lane. Burial will follow in Brookland Cemetery.
