Born in Muhlenberg County Feb. 9, 1922, he was self - employed in the janitorial service, a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and a WWII Navy Veteran.
Survivors include two daughters, Sally A. (Frederic D.) Floberg of Winnetka, Ill. and Patricia J. (Rhodric C.) Hackman of McLean, Va.; two sons, John E. Jr. (Mary) Monaghan of Long Beach, Calif. and Stephen P. (Cindy) Monaghan of Carlsbad, Calif.; two brothers, Donald P. (Marlene) Monaghan and Martin A. (Betty) Monaghan, both of Central City; seven sisters, Agnes (late Thomas) Drea of Central City, Sr. Michael Ann Monaghan and Sr. Mary Renee’ Monaghan, both of Mount St. Joseph, Sr. Jane Monaghan of Nazareth, Kathleen (late Jerry) La Buda of Francisville, Ind., Rose (late Arnold) Mills of Lexington and Ann (late George) Boarman of Booneville, Ind.; eight grandchildren, Fred, Dan and Susan Floberg, Courtney and Scott Hackman, Mitchel, Sommer and Sierra Monaghan; 24 nieces and nephews.
Mass services were held at 10 a.m. April 16, 2005 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with Father Ben Luther officiating. Burial followed in Fairmount Cemetery in Central City. Tucker Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Sue Nell Cisney Jett
GREENVILLE - Sue Nell Cisney Jett, 76, died Sunday, April 10, 2005 at Saint Thomas Hospital in Nashville after a short illness.
Born in Rosewood Feb. 17, 1929, the daughter of the late James Leo Cisney and Audrey Elizabeth Carver Cisney, she was a member of the Rosewood United Methodist Church, employed at General Electric in Owensboro, Baxter’s in Greenville and retired from the Muhlenberg County Board of Education. She was a member of Eastern Star Madeline Chapter #58 and Mended Hearts Inc. Chapter #202. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Carroll Jett in 1989 and a brother, James Calvin (Jim) Cisney in 1986.
Survivors include a daughter, Melissa Ann Jett of Madisonville; two sons, Daniel Lynn Jett of Greenville and Carroll Michael Jett of Carlisle, Ind.; two sisters, Sondra McDonald of Greenville and Roberta Blythe of Russellville; a grandson and a great - grandson.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. April 13 at Gary’s Funeral Home with the Rev. Brent Waltrip officiating. Burial followed in Rosewood Methodist Cemetery.

Barry M. Payne
GREENVILLE - Barry M. Payne died in Fort Worth, Texas.
Born in Taylor County, the son of James L. and Mildred Payne of Greenville, he was a heavy equipment operator and a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church in Central City.
Survivors include a son, Christopher Payne of Jackson, Miss.; two daughters, Christy Payne of Jackson, Miss. and Lisa Brown of Central City; his parents; two sisters, Kathy Brown of Greenville and Donna Gootee of Powderly; three brothers, James E. Payne of Belton, Randall Payne of Beechmont and Bernard Payne of Central City; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held at 1 p.m. April 16 at Evergreen Cemetery in Greenville with the Rev. Ted Everly officiating. Tucker Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Jonell House
Jonell House, 73, died Thursday, April 14, 2005 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital.
Born in Muhlenberg County Dec. 23, 1931, she was a homemaker and a member of Luzerne General Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a brother, Daniel Jewell and two grandchildren, Tiffany Lynn House and Tyler Lin House.
Survivors include two sons, Norman House of Central City and Joseph House of Greenville; two daughters, Laquita Martin of Central City and Suzanne Probsi of San Dimas, Calif.; two brothers, Tilmon Jewell of Moorman and Auburn Case of Central City; 12 grandchildren; a step-grandchild; three great grandchildren and three step-great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. April 17 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Joe Pharris officiating. Burial followed in New Hope Cemetery.
Charles Atlas Dukes
GREENVILLE - Charles Atlas Dukes, 75, died Thursday, April 14,2005 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital after a brief illness.
Born in Muhlenberg County Sept. 30, 1929, the son of the late Raymond Atlas Dukes and Dora Green Anderson Dukes, he was member of the Greenville Church of Christ and a 1947 graduate of Greenville High School. He retired in 1992 from First State Bank in Greenville after 20 years and he operated Square Deal Grocery for many years. He was Greenville City Treasuer for 20 years and served on the Evergreen Cemetery Board of Directors. He was preceded in death by his wife Joan Forgy Dukes on Jan. 21, 2005.
Survivors include a daughter, Vickie (Rick) McClenaghan of Westerville, Ohio; three sons, Eddie Dukes and Roger (Pam) Dukes, both of Greenville and Phillip (Kathy) Dukes of Beth Page, Tenn.; a sister, Margaret Casebier of Louisville; three grandchildren, Erica Dukes Green, Beth Ann Dukes and Walter McClenaghan.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. April 17 at Gary’s Funeral Home with Mr. Steve Stovall, Mr. John Forgy and Mr. Kenneth Joines officiating. Burial followed in Evergreen Cemetery.

Samuel Barrett (Sambo) Stanley
POWDERLY - Samuel Barrett (Sambo) Stanley, 85, died Thursday, April 14, 2005 at his residence after a lengthy illness.
Born in Muhlenberg County March 10, 1920, the son of the late Netter and Angejella Ann Groves Stanley, he was of the Pentecostal faith. He was a farmer who retired from Gatton Farms in 1984 after 29 years. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Dorothy Mae Stanley in 1943 and Addie Agnes Stanley in 1944.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Sally Williams Stanley; five daughters, Edna Hayes of Sacramento, Stella Pool of Madisonville, Phyllis Stanley of Evansville, Linda Groves of Graham and Paulette Stanley of Central City; four sons, Earl Stanley and Bruce Stanley, both of South Carrollton, Rondal Stanley of Madisonville and Jeffery Stanley of Graham; a brother, Jay Stanley of Graham; two sisters, Pauline Linville of Hopkinsville and Josephine Cornette of Cleaton; 14 grandchildren; 10 great - grandchildren and four great - great - grandchildren.

Carolyn McDonald Todd
Carolyn McDonald Todd, 50, died Saturday, April 9, 2005 in Perry, Ga.
Born in Muhlenberg County March 19, 1955, the daughter of Marjorie Ross McDonald and the late John William McDonald, she was a sixth grade math teacher at Muhlenberg North Middle School and a member of Drakesboro First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Neagle.
Survivors include her husband, David A. Todd; a daughter, Leanna M. Todd of Central City; her mother, Marjorie Ross McDonald of Browder and two sisters, Mary Helen Wynn of Greenville and Betsy Wolf of Swanee, Ga.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. April 19 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Tom Stovall officiating. Burial followed at Rose Hill Cemetery.

GREENVILLE - Carrie Williams, 96, went home to be with the Lord Friday, April 15, 2005.
Born Nov. 14, 1910, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joe Rice, she was a member of Bard Hill General Baptist Church in Greenville. She spent her life enjoying her seven children, 10 grandchildren, 17 great - grandchildren and three great - great - grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Wealthy Williams on Jan. 26, 1974; two brothers, Lonnie Rice and Mack Rice and two sisters, Beatrice O’Dell and Lovie Nell Lile.
Survivors include four sons, Granvil (Avanelle) Williams and Donald (Mary Belle) Williams, both of Greenville, J.T. RUSSELLVILLE - Jackie Lee Dukes, 69, died Tuesday, April 19, 2005 at his residence.
Born in Muhlenberg County Feb. 14, 1936, he was the son of the late Walter and Nannie (Cornett) Dukes. He was employed by TVA as a pipe fitter and a member of the Carter Creek Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his first wife Shirley Dukes.
Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Dukes; a daughter Kaye Lawson of Lewisburg; three sons, Roger Dukes of Dunmor, the Rev. Mike Dukes and Bryan Dukes, both of Lewisburg; a step daughter, Darla Barrow of Auburn; two sisters, Brenda Keplinger of Powderly and Robbie Brock of Greenville; five grandchildren, a step grandchild and a great - grandchild.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. April 21 at Price Funeral Home in Lewisburg. Burial followed in Dunmor Cemetery.

Born in Muhlenberg County Jan. 30, 1932, she was a homemaker and a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Central City. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry T. Buchanan.

Joseph Harold (Tom) Allen
MADISONVILLE - Joseph Harold (Tom) Allen, 78, died Saturday, April 23, 2005 at Regional Medical Center after a short illness.
Born in Weir Aug. 29, 1926, he was the son of Carl Edward Allen and Hazel Marie Crick Allen, he was a retired farmer and was a member of Cave Springs Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Eddie Allen in 1996; a daughter, Judy Darlene Allen in 1966 and a grandson, James Allen.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Verda Powell Allen; a son Mark (Lee) Allen of Madisonville; two sisters, Verna Mae Dukes and Betty Lee both of Greenville; three grandchildren, Andrew Louis Allen, Emily Marie Allen and Belinda Allen and four great - grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. April 26 at Gary’s Funeral Home with Dr. Thomas Branson officiating. Burial followed in Friendship Cemetery in Greenville.
Dallas Allen Toomey
OWENSBORO - Dallas Allen Toomey, 89, died Friday, April 22, 2005 at Owensboro Medical Health Systems.
Born in Penrod May 31, 1915, he was the son of the late Allen and Annie Toomey, and was a member of Southside Church of Christ in Owensboro. He was a 42 - year member of the Traveler Protective Association. He was a decorated WWII, U.S. Army Veteran, serving in Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe with the 3596th QM Truck Company. He hauled supplies, ammunition, rations and personnel over improvised roads under combat conditions and blackouts. He received numerous decorations including the American Theater Ribbon, EAME Theater Ribbon with five Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Medal and Victory Medal WWII. He was a former business partner in Western Plating Co. in Owensboro and a former partner, with his son Lanny, in Auto Paint and Supply Co, Inc. He enjoyed various hobbies including bowling, watching baseball games and traveling with his family. He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include his wife Clara Nell Gaston Toomey, who he married in 1948; a son Lanny David Toomey of Owensboro; a daughter and son - in - law, Lynette Dawn (Toomey) and Jeff Johnson of Owensboro; two brothers, Delbert Toomey of Owensboro and Wilbur Toomey of Greenville and a sister Clara Davis of Owensboro.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. April 25 at James H. Davis Funeral Home in Owensboro. Burial followed in Hortons Chapel Church of Christ Cemetery in Muhlenberg County.
