MADISONVILLE – Lloyd E. Parker, 86, died Wednesday, March 15, 2006 at Regional Medical Center.
Born in Bond County, Ill., Jan. 24, 1920, he was a farmer and a member and elder of the New Testament Christian Church of Central City. He also worked in construction before retiring in Ky. He was preceded in death by his parents, George Elmer Parker and Nevada Pearl Cruchley Parker; wife, Ada Mae Hoffman Parker and a sister, Elma Andrews.
Survivors include a daughter, Sharon Carman of Madisonville; five grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 7 p.m. March 17 at the New Testament Christian Church in Central City with Minister George Carman officiating. Private burial followed March 18 in Grapevine Cemetery in Madisonville. Barnett-Strother Funeral Home in Madisonville was in charge of arrangements.
James Albert Craig
DUNMOR – James Albert Craig, 52, died Tuesday, March 14, 2006 at his residence.
Born in Granite City, Ill. Jan. 18 1954, he was a tree trimmer.
Survivors include his father, Thomas Craig of Dunmor; a son, James Robert Craig and four sisters, Barbara Craig, Mary Craig, Sandra Alexander and Kandy Keller.
Funeral services were held at noon March 18 at Tucker Beechmont Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Winters officiating. Burial was private.
Francis Marion Miller
SILVER SPRING, MD – Francis Marion Miller, 80, died Monday, Feb. 20, 2006.
Born in Muhlenberg County, Dec. 28, 1925, he was a chemistry professor. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jennifer Miller Frantz-Lewis.
Survivors include his wife, Clara Miller; two sons, Dan Miller of Minneapolis, Minn. and John Miller of Louisville; nine grandchildren and one great-grandson.
A memorial mass was held at 10 a.m. March 4 at Our Lady of Grace Church in Silver Spring, Md. Arrangements were made by Collins Funeral Home in Silver Spring, Md. Memorial contributions may be made to the Honors Program, Northern Illinois University, DeKalb, Ill. 60115.
Billy Dale Miller, Jr.
BREMEN – Billy Dale Miller, Jr., 36, died Saturday, March 18, 2006 at Regional Medical Center.
Born in Hopkins County, March 19, 1969, he was an assembly line worker at Ensign Bickford and a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Moorman.
Survivors include two sons, Jonathan Miller and Harrison Miller; a daughter, Keasha Miller; parents, Billy Dale Sr. and Judy Miller of Bremen; grandparents, J.B. and Gladys Revlett of Sacramento and Neoma Dee Miller of Bremen; a brother, Brian G. (Emilee) Miller of Sacramento and a sister, Heather (Wes) Brooks of Bremen.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. March 22 at Tucker Memorial Chapel in Sacramento with the Rev. Mickey McPherson officiating. Burial will follow in Brier Creek Cemetery in Bremen. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Miller Children Memorial Fund, First National Bank, Bremen, KY 42325. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
Bobbie Nell Smith
Bobbie Nell Smith, 77, died Saturday, March 18, 2006.
Born in McLean County, Dec. 3, 1928, she was a former owner of Conrad and Smith Gas Co. and a member of Central City First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Smith and her parents, Tony and Ruby Conrad.
Survivors include four cousins, Imogene Conrad of Owensboro, Frank Conrad and Diann Conrad, both of Lexington and Karen Wheeldon of South Carrollton and her friend, Ann McRoy of Central City.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. March 21 with the Rev. Bob Lowery and the Rev. Greg Brooks officiating. Burial followed in Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City.
Lagartha Gottie Clark
Lagartha Gottie Clark, 87, died Sunday, March 19, 2006 at Jefferson Manor Hospital in Louisville.
Member of First Baptist Church, employed by First National Bank of Central City and an elementary school teacher at Central City and Bremen schools, she was preceded in death by her parents, George P. and Hallie Jeter and a sister, Martha Lester Corum.
Survivors include a son, Dr. Steve (Mary) Clark of Louisville; a brother, George Jeter of Booneville, Ind.; a grandson, Barry Clark of Louisville; four nieces, Martha Puryear of Chandler, Ind., Jean Carter and Betsy Posey of Booneville, Ind. and Jean Bohne of Central City.
Funeral services will be held at noon March 23 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Lowery officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City. Memorial gifts may be made to the Central City First Baptist Church or Hospice of Louisville. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
Donald Dean Croger
GREENVILLE - Donald Dean Croger, 74, died Sunday, March 19 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital after a brief illness.
Born in Morris, Okla. Nov. 7, 1931, the youngest son of Roy Croger and Ruby Golden Cramer Croger, he married Patricia Evelyn Elliott April 10, 1950. He worked for Ryan Oil Company for 17 years prior to his employment of 24 years at Texas Gas Transmission Corporation, retiring in 1992. Member of the Cave Springs Missionary Baptist Church and the Pond River Masonic Lodge, he was a Kentucky Colonel. He loved to work on old cars and tractors, drink morning coffee with the boys and attend Friday night auctions at Hunt’s Auction in Dawson Springs. He was preceded in death by his father, Roy Croger and a brother, Troy Croger.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Patricia Croger; mother, Ruby Croger of Mattoon, Ill.; two sons, Keith (Shirley) Croger of Greenville and Kye (Jimmie Lynn) Croger of Central City; three grandsons, Troy (Alexandria) Croger of Hopkinsville, Kacy Croger of Owensboro and Karson Croger of Central City; two granddaughters, Amy Croger of Los Angeles, Calif. and Charity Croger of Owensboro; two great grandchildren, Alexia and Kamron and one brother, Lee Croger of Chicago, Ill.
Masonic services were held at 7 p.m. March 21 at Gary’s Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. March 22 at Gary’s Funeral Home with the Rev. Jeff Morris officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Greenville. Visitation will be after 9 a.m. March 22 at Gary’s Funeral Home.
Marjorie Forgy Stovall
OWENSBORO - Marjorie Forgy Stovall, 75, of Owensboro, died Tuesday, March 11, 2003, at her residence.
Born in Butler County, she was a homemaker and a member of Owensboro Christian Church and had been a Sunday school teacher for over 40 years and was currently teaching the Lydia Class. She held numerous offices in the New Horizons and Early Morning Homemakers Clubs and served as president of the Daviess County Homemakers Association. She was a founding member of Ambassadors Seniors Ministry at Owensboro Christian Church.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Paul Stovall; two sons, Stephen Stovall of Bowling Green and Chris Stovall of Atlanta, Ga.; one daughter, Benita Heady of Owensboro; one grandchild; two great-grandchildren; one brother, John Forgy of Trezevant, Tenn.; and three sisters, Lydia Geibel and Joan Dukes, both of Greenville and Janrosa Joines of South Haven, Miss.
Funeral services were held Thursday, March 13, at Owensboro Christian Church. Burial followed in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Glenn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Linda Jean Gamble Leggs
Linda Jean Gamble Leggs, 56, of Central City, died Tuesday, March 11, 2003, at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville.
Born June 29, 1946, in Muhlenberg County, she was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Central City where she served on the trustee and usher boards and was a member of the senior choir and missionary society. She was past president of the Council of Central City Housing Authority and was a member, and served as secretary, of the Magnolia Chapter #84 Order of Eastern Star. She was also a member of Future Homemakers.
She is survived by two sons, Grant Gamble of Louisville and Dwight Gamble of Owensboro; one stepson, Gary Leggs of Owensboro; two daughters, Crystal Gamble and Nicole Douglas, both of Central City; two sisters, Martha Stevenson and Beverly Hocker, both of Central City; three brothers, J. D. Gamble of Albuquerque, New Mexico, John Mark Martin of Central City and Kenneth Webb of Owensboro; 15 grandchildren; two uncles; and three aunts.
An Eastern Star service was held Friday, March 14. Funeral services were held Saturday, March 15, at Ebenezer Baptist Church with the Rev. Otis Cunningham officiating. Burial followed in West End Cemetery in Greenville. Tucker Funeral Home in Central City was in charge of arrangements.
Marguerite Knight
DRAKESBORO - Marguerite Knight, 74, of Drakesboro, died Tuesday, March 11, 2003, at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville.
Born Nov. 11, 1928 in Butler County, she was a homemaker and a member of Union Chapel General Baptist Church.
She is survived by two sons, Danny Knight of Drakesboro and Steve Knight of Hammond, Ind. ; one daughter, Debra Knight of Lexington; ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one brother, Grover Whitaker of Belton.
Funeral services were held Saturday, March 15, at Union Chapel Church with the Rev. Kerry Vincent officiating. Burial followed in Union Chapel Cemetery. Tucker Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Chester Morris Rainwater
HOPKINSVILLE - Chester Morris Rainwater, 48, of Hopkinsville, died Wednesday, March 12, 2003, at Jennie Stuart Medical Center in Hopkinsville.
Born Oct. 16, 1954 in Muhlenberg County, he was a mechanic employed at Dana Corp. in Hopkinsville. He was of the Baptist faith and was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Marines. He was preceded in death by one brother, Michael Rainwater.
He is survived by his mother, Mary Rainwater of Drakesboro; one brother, Billy Rainwater of Whitehouse, Tenn.; four sisters, Debra Boyd and Carolyn Lear, both of Central City, Pam Casebier of Newburgh, Ind. and Melissa Dene of Bowling Green; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Saturday, March 15, at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Tom Stovall officiating. Burial followed in Highway Cemetery in Drakesboro. Tucker Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
James Howard Lyons
BELTON - James Howard Lyons, 79, of Belton, died Tuesday, March 11, 2003, at Maple Manor Nursing Home in Greenville.
Born July 10, 1923 in Muhlenberg County, he was retired from Green River Steel. He was a member of Beechmont Baptist Church and the Masonic Lodge, Hazel Creek #842.
He is survived by his spouse, Louise Walker Lyons; one son, Jimmy Lyons of Belton; one daughter, Marilyn Gail Wells of Russellville; four grandchildren, Jill Herndon, Christie Witt, Letasha Lyons and Danielle Lyons; and four great-grandchildren.
A Masonic service was held Friday with Earl Newman officiating. Funeral services were held Saturday, March 15, at Tucker Beechmont Funeral Home with the Revs. Ron Wells and Gary Hines officiating. Burial followed in Carter Creek Cemetery in Greenville. Tucker Beechmont Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Bennie Elizabeth “Sis” Bartlett
DRAKESBORO - Bennie Elizabeth “Sis” Bartlett, 97, of Drakesboro, died March 11, 2003, at Belle Meade Nursing Home in Greenville.
Born in Butler County, she was of the General Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Horace Bartlett in 1971.
She is survived by one daughter, Hilda Hope of Drakesboro; two grandchildren, Linda Shrull of Smiths Grove and Charlotte Williamson of Cadiz; six great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; first daughter, Naomi Clark of Central City; 1/2 sister, Itiline Uzzle of Cadiz; and several nieces and nephews.

Clark Edwin “Eddie” Steele
POWDERLY - Clark Edwin “Eddie” Steele, 44, of Greenville, died Thursday, March 13, 2003, at Owensboro Mercy Health System, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Born January 24, 1959 in Muhlenberg County, the son of Kenneth and Alberta Steele, he was an auto body technician and worked for Wright Body Shop in Russellville. He was a member of the Church of Latter Day Saints and was a Powderly City Council member.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Missy Steele, of Powderly; one son, Christopher Steele of Greenville; one daughter, Suzanne Williams of Beechmont; one step-daughter, Lisa Wells of Powderly; one granddaughter, NaTaya Williams; one brother, Ben Steele of Greenville; two sisters, Kendra Newman and Rita Peterson, both of Greenville.
Funeral services were held Sunday, March 16, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Greenville. Burial followed in Nebo Cemetery. Gary’s Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Lelia M. Kelly
BREMEN - Lelia M. Kelly, 97, of Bremen, died Friday, March 14, 2003, at Maple Manor Health Care Center in Greenville.
Born Dec. 30, 1905 in Muhlenberg County, she was a homemaker, a member of East Union Missionary Baptist Church in Graham and a member of Bremen Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Eldred A. Vinson; second husband, Jim Kelly; and three sons, Eldred, David and Harold.
She is survived by one daughter, Lola Browning of Graham; nine grandchildren, Shirley Miller, Ruby Pendley, David Browning, Susan DeArmond, Barry Vinson, Michael Vinson, Karen Hiltunen, Marilyn Hinkle and Lisa Harris; 12 stepgrandchidren and 21 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday, March 16, at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City with the Rev. Ron Wingo officiating. Burial followed in Corley Chapel Cemetery in Graham. Tucker Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
