LOUISVILLE Robert Elmon Hardison, 81, died Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2004 in the Georgetown Manor Nursing Home in Louisville after a lengthy illness.
Born in Muhlenberg County, Feb. 9, 1923, to the late Timmons Hardison and Ollie Bryant Hardison, he retired in 1983 from Munster Steel in Gary, Ind. after 30 years as a welder. He was preceded in death by a son, Jackie Lee Hardison in 1978.
Survivors include two sons, Robert W. Hardison of Louisville and Gary Ray Hardison of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; two daughters, Debbie Johnson of Elizabethtown and Sandra Kay Hardison of Louisville; three sisters, Audrey Bueker of St. Louis, Mo., Pauline Wells of Shelbyville, Ill. and Martha Pitts of Indian Mounds, Tenn.; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Feb. 21 at Gary’s Funeral Home with Rob Gwaltney officiating. Burial followed in Emberry Cemetery in Greenville.
John Edwin Craig
GREENVILLE John Edwin Craig, 80, died Thursday, Feb. 19, 2004 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Born in Muhlenberg County, Aug. 11, 1923, to the late Raymond A. Craig and Fannie Bell Hudson Craig, he was employed by W.G. Duncan Coal Company and worked in the company store for a period of time. He was employed at Peabody Coal Company Gibralter Mine for 32 years and a member of First Baptist Church in Greenville. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II having served in the military police. He was a member of Pond River Masonic Lodge #244 F & A.M. and Madeline Chapter Eastern Star #164.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Anna Laura Wilkins Craig; three daughters, Deborah (Robert) Dahlin of Birmingham, Ala., Kaye (Michael) Robbins of Greenville and Frances (William) Lavender of Pelham, Ala.; and three grandchildren, Matthew, Stephanie and Shannon.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m., Feb. 21 at Gary’s Funeral Home with Dr. Charles Midkiff and Mr. C.V. Conatser officiating. Burial followed in Evergreen Cemetery in Greenville.
Raymond Lewis Crick, Jr.
GREENVILLE Raymond Lewis Crick, Jr., 88, died Friday, Feb. 20, 2004 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Born in Muhlenberg County, Dec. 17, 1915, to the late Raymond Lewis Crick, Sr. and Delia Offie Walker Crick, he was a twin and the last of 15 kids. He retired in 1985 after 45 years as a carpenter and he was a member of Carter Creek Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Josie Lucille Pendley Crick, on Feb. 6, 2004.
Survivors include four daughters, Brenda Ray of Chesterton, Ind., Patty Rust of Greenville, Beckie Penrod of Powderly and Marty Woosley of Morgantown; seven grandchildren, Michelle Dozier, Elizabeth Dillinger, Tracy Smith, Tricia Smith, Jessica Wilson, Scott Chumley and Stephanie LeDure; eight great-grandchildren, Whitney, Kylie, Kara, Ashley, Dylan, Ian, Trent and Brooke; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Feb. 22 at Gary’s Funeral Home with the Rev. Donnie Wilkins officiating. Burial followed in Carter Creek Cemetery in Greenville.
Barbara Jean Fuller Davis
GREENVILLE Barbara Jean Fuller Davis, 64, of the Rosewood Community, died Saturday, Feb. 21, 2004.
Born in Muhlenberg County, June 7, 1939, to the late John Miller Fuller and Leona Josephine Dukes Fuller, she was a member of Browder Baptist Church. She was a loving mother, grandmother and pastor’s wife.
Survivors include her husband of 47 years, Bro. Collas Davis, Jr.; a daughter, Gina (Keith) Davis Wilkins of Bremen; three sons, Ricky (Vickie) Davis of Greenville, Bro. Barry (Shea) Davis of Central City; Larry (Teresa) Davis of Beech Creek; a brother, Danny Fuller of Greenville; two sisters, Reva Wagoner and Oretha Coakley, both of Greenville; nine grandchildren, Candice Sommers Owens, Lane Brothers, Clay Davis, Lindsey Davis, Adam Davis, Aaron Davis, Abby Jean Davis, Jakeb Davis and Nolan Davis; and two step grandchildren, Josh and Heather Wilkins.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Feb. 24 at Gary’s Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Brady officiating. Burial in Woodland Cemetery in Greenville.

Lucille McElwain Cabbage
LOUISVILLE Lucille McElwain Cabbage, 83, died Sunday, Feb. 22, 2004 at Summerfield Health and Rehabilitation in Louisville.
Born in Muhlenberg County, April 9, 1920, to the late Roy McElwain and Minnie Mallory McElwain, she was a member of Expressway Church of Christ in Louisville. She was employed as a supervisor at R.L. White Printing. She was preceded in death by her husband, John H. Cabbage and a son, Walter Lee Cabbage.
Survivors include a son, Roy Cabbage of Belton; three daughters, Brenda Federspiel of Georgetown, Ind., Dianne Thompson of Upton, Ky. and Shelia Wulf of Louisville; a sister, Mary Ellen Bray of Louisville; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Feb. 25 at Sanders Funeral Home in Russellville with Jack Carver officiating. Burial will follow in Horton’s Chapel Cemetery in Muhlenberg County. Visitation will be held until time of service Feb. 25 at Sanders Funeral Home.
Marjorie Fulkerson
DRAKESBORO Marjorie Fulkerson, 89, died Saturday, Feb. 21, 2004 at Hospice Palliative Care of Louisville in Louisville.
Born in Muhlenberg County, Nov. 25, 1914, she was a homemaker and a member of Riverside Baptist Church in Browder. She was preceded in death by her husband, Orval Fulkerson and a daughter, Brenda Fulkerson.
Survivors include a son, Stanley Fulkerson of Beechmont; a daughter, Barbara Baker of Crestwood, Ky.; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Feb. 24 at Riverside Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike Chambers officiating. Burial followed in Allen’s Chapel Cemetery in Muhlenberg County. Tucker Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Clarence “Moody” D. Silvy
ELKTON Clarence “Moody” D. Silvy, 58, died Friday, Feb. 20, 2004 at his residence of natural causes.
Born in Christian County, Dec. 13, 1945, to the late Elbert Silvy and Gladys Hurt Silvy, he was a mechanic at Clifton’s Auto Salvage. He was preceded in death by a sister, Carrie Monroe in 1999.
Survivors include his mother, Gladys Hurt Silvy of Elkton; three brothers, Albert Lee Silvy of Springfield, Tenn., Dorris Franklin Silvy of Hopkinsville and Robert Owen Silvy of Florida; five sisters, Helen Sawyer of Elkton, Thelma Rager and Wilma Gilkey, both of Central City, Earline Silvy of Elkton and Ruth Morton of Russellville.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Feb. 23 at Latham Funeral Home in Elkton with the Rev. Jerry Sweeney officiating. Burial followed in Bethel Cemetery.
Andrew Jordan Bowles
BREMEN Andrew Jordan Bowles, 18 months, died Saturday, Feb. 21, 2004 at Kosair Children’s Hospital in Louisville.
He was born in Muhlenberg County, Aug. 16, 2002, to Jonathon and Minnie Bowles of Bremen.
Survivors include his parents; two sisters, Bianca and Austina Bowles; his grandmother, Edith Cartwright of Greenville; his grandparents, Charles and Linda Bowles of Bremen; and great-grandmother, Anna Mae Burden of Bremen.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Feb. 24 at New Harmony Baptist Church with the Rev. Dan Yeager and the Rev. Danny Smith officiating. Burial followed in New Harmony Cemetery in Bremen. Tucker Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Eldon McPherson
BELTON Eldon McPherson, 87, died Friday, Feb. 20, 2004 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital.
Born in Muhlenberg County, March 5, 1916, he was a retired coal miner for Gibraltar Coal Company in Central City. He was a member of Hazel Creek Baptist Church in Belton and a member of the Hazel Creek Masonic Lodge #842 in Beechmont. He was also a veteran of World War II.
Survivors include two sons, Shelby McPherson of Lewisburg and Howard McPherson of Belton; three daughters, Eva Jean McKenney of Drakesboro, Dorothy Knight and Fay Brown of Belton; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two step great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Feb. 23 at Tucker Beechmont Funeral Home with the Rev. Terry Chaney and the Rev. Don Piper officiating. Burial followed in Riverside Cemetery in Muhlenberg County.
Kenneth L.V. Wright
GREENVILLE Kenneth L.V. Wright, 78, died Saturday, Feb. 21, 2004 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital following a lengthy illness.
Born in Muhlenberg County, Jan. 21, 1926, to the late Frank and Ruthie Wright, he retired in 1983 after 47 years as a coal miner. He was a member of New Cypress Missionary Baptist Church. He was an avid clay target marksman, hunter, fisherman, Braves baseball and U.K. basketball fan. In recent years he made his home with daughter, Sandra and Jerry Strader. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Venita Dukes in 1951; his second wife, Geraldine Loney in 1996; a brother, T.C. Wright; and sister, Earnestine Vincent.
Survivors include two daughters, Debra Atcher and Sandra (Jerry) Strader, both of Greenville; two sons, Kenny (Janet) Wright of Graham and Steve Wright of Greenville; a step daughter, Diane (Truman) Stewart of Greenville; two brothers, Frank Wright, Jr. and Bobby Wright; three sisters, Earline Brock, Ruby Brown and Inez Gossett; three grandchildren, Venita Wright, Jason Jennings and Josh Wright; five step grandchildren, Terril Stewart, Timmy Stewart, Dawn Simms, Jason Strader and Jordan Strader; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside funeral services were held at noon at New Cypress Cemetery with the Rev. Roy Finley officiating. Gary’s Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Luke Ezra Vincent
BREMEN Luke Ezra Vincent, infant, died Sunday, Feb. 22, 2004 at Kosair Children’s Hospital in Louisville.
He was born in Louisville, Feb. 19, 2004, to Michael “Mike” and Candi Vincent of Bremen.
Survivors include a sister, Gabrielle Vincent; paternal grandparents, Eddie and Judy Vincent of Bremen; maternal grandparents, Dewayne and Joan Davis of Bremen; great grandmothers, Frances Brown and Lillian Davis, both of Bremen; uncles and aunts Jeff and Kim Vincent, Robby and Gretchen Davis, and Tony Davis; and cousins, Seth Davis, Chase Davis, Madison Vincent and Grace Vincent. Private graveside funeral services were held Feb. 24 at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery in Bremen with the Rev. Tondra Daughtery and the Rev. Ron Wingo officiating. James William “J.W.” Williams
NORTONVILLE James William “J.W.” Williams, 87, died Sunday, Feb. 22, 2004 in the Dawson Pointe Nursing Home in Dawson Springs, Ky. after a lengthy illness.
Born in Muhlenberg County, March 12, 1916, the last of 12 children, to the late Eugene Williams and Kate Lear Williams, he was a farmer. He was preceded in death by his wife, Geneva Kemble Williams in 1990.
Survivors include two sons, Jackie Williams of White Plains and Johnny Williams of Harrisburg, Ill.; three daughters, Brenda Cotton and Cynthia Winfield, both of Nortonville, and Kathy Williams of Madisonville; 11 grandchildren, Retha, Johnnie Carol, Kenny Jr., James, Stephanie, Beth, Christina, John, Josh, Alecia and Patrick; three step grandchildren, Tony Jr., Crystal and Chuck, Jr.; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Feb. 25 at Gary’s Funeral Home with the Rev. Larry Phaup officiating. Burial will follow in Good Hope Cemetery in Mannington, Ky. Visitation will be held after 9 a.m., Feb. 25 at Gary’s Funeral Home.
E.G. Pegues
EVANSVILLE E.G. Pegues, 92, formerly of Central City, died Friday, Feb. 18, 2005 at the VNA Hospice Center in Evansville.
Born in Birmingham, Ala. he was a graduate of Western Kentucky University and a disabled World War II veteran. He was a retired manager of J.C. Penney and later retired as a cost accountant at Fort Campbell, KY. He was a longtime member and deacon of the First Presbyterian Church of Hopkinsville (Central City) and an active member of the business community. He and his wife, Dede, lived for many years in Central City and Hopkinsville before moving to Newburgh, Ind. in 2002 to be near their daughter and her family. He was preceded in death by his wife in August 2004.
Survivors include two daughters, Dean (Jeff) Wilson of Newburgh and Joanne Hudspeth of Atlanta, Ga.; seven grandchildren, Brian Dozer, Robin (Dozer) Wheeler, Amy (Dozer) Bailey, Chris Wilson, John Hudspeth, Leigh Hudspeth and Steve Hudspeth and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Feb. 21 at Browning Funeral Home in Evansville. Memorial contributions may be made to the “Mallory Wheeler Leukemia Fund” account at any Fifth Third Bank branch or by mail c/o Dean Wilson, 3100 North Lake Court, Newburgh, IN 47630. This fund was established to defray medical costs for Mr. Pegues’ great-granddaughter.
Gey Nell Lear
GREENVILLE Gey Nell Lear, 82, died Saturday, Feb. 19, 2005 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital.
Born in Greenville Dec. 27, 1922, she was a member of Bard’s Hill General Baptist Church and a retired nurse from Muhlenberg Community Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elvis Lear.
Survivors include a daughter, Betty (Bobby) Almon of Greenwood, Ind.; two sons, Ricky (Sheila) Almon and Dwayne (Anita) Lear, all of Greenville; seven grandchildren, Erica Killams, Cierra Lear, Lauren Lear, Ashley Lear, Jeana Haley, Shannon Almon and Dustin Almon and one great-grandchild, Shavanna Haley.

Dollie Evitts Kinison
DUNMOR Dollie Evitts Kinison, 87, died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2005 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Born in Livingston County, April 2, 1917, the daughter of the late Gus N. and Pearl Ramage, she retired after 30 years of employment at General Motors. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Johnny Evitts; a son, Johnny Evitts and two sisters, Elizabeth Buchanan and Mae Haley.
Survivors include her husband, Tommy Kinison; a sister, Eula Dell Hankins of Dunmor and a brother, Joe Ramage of Taylor, Mich.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Feb. 19 at Gary’s Funeral Home with the Rev. Tommy Drury officiating. Burial followed in the New Cypress Cemetery in Greenville.
