Born in Owensboro Medical Health System Feb. 12, 2006, she was the daughter of Chad and Stefanie Noffsinger Skimehorn of Calhoun.
Survivors include her parents; her twin brother, Willam Ace Skimehorn; grandparents, Sherri and Gary Ahaus of Cincinnati, Sam Noffsinger of Sacramento and Billy and Sherry Skimehorn of Bremen; and great-grandparents, Shirley Revlett of Calhoun, Bill and Frances Skimehorn and Dorothy Newson, all of Bremen.
Private funeral services will be held Feb. 22 at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel with the Rev. Ken Berggren officiating. Burial will follow in the Brier Creek Cemetery in Muhlenberg County. Visitation will be held from noon until 1:45 p.m. Feb. 22 at Musters in Calhoun.
Eula Wells
GREENVILLE - Eula Wells, 83, of Greenville, died Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2003, at Muhlenberg Community Hospital following several weeks of illness.
Born Feb. 19, 1919 in Muhlenberg County, the daughter of James Franklin Wells and Lissie Ellen Kelly Wells, she was a member of Second Baptist Church in Greenville.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Feb. 13, at Gary’s Funeral Home with Dr. Ray England officiating. Burial followed in Olive Grove Cemetery. Gary’s Funeral Home in Greenville was in charge of arrangements.
Ethel B. Skipworth
DUNMOR - Ethel B. Skipworth, 99, of Dunmor, died Monday, Feb. 10, 2003, at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville.
Born Jan. 9, 1904 in Kentucky, she was a homemaker and a member of the Myers Chapel United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willis R. Skipworth; father, John Johnson; mother, Lena Antle Johnson; daughter, Clara Belle Brigance and son, Aubrey Skipworth.
She is survived by one daughter, Juanita Skipworth Johnson of Russellville; one son, Anthony Skipworth of Dunmor; 10 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; four step grandchildren; one sister, Donna Mahan of Central City; and one brother, Charles R. Johnson of Brandenburg, Ky.
Funeral services were held Thursdsay, Feb. 13, at Price Funeral Home in Lewisburg with the Rev. Kenneth Vincent officiating. Burial followed in Myers Chapel Cemetery in Muhlenberg County. Price Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Cherry Powell
ELKTON - Cherry Powell, 77, of Elkton, died Monday, Feb. 10, 2003, at his residence after a long illness.
Born May 13, 1925 in Todd County, the son of the late Walter and Maggie Howell Powell, he was a retired farmer and a member of the Elkton Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by one sister, Georgia Hurt in 2000.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Lois Powell of Elkton; two sons, James Lee “Jim” Powell of Central City and Joe Powell of Elkton; one brother, James O. Powell of Elkton; four grandchildren, three step grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Feb. 13, at Elkton Baptist Church with the Revs. Jerry Tracy and Neal Immel officiating. Burial followed in Glenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Pennyrile Hospice or Kentucky Baptist Children’s Home. Latham Funeral Home in Elkton was in charge of arrangements.
Irvan F. Thornberry
ANDERSON, IND. - Irvan F. Thornberry, 81, of Anderson, Ind., died Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2003, at his residence.
Born July 20, 1921 in Livermore, he was a member of Victory Baptist Church in Anderson and was retired from Inland Steel in East Chicago, Ind. He was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Pacific Theatre. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Mercer and Ora Iglehardt Thornberry and brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his wife of sixty years, Dorothy Howard Thornberry; one son, Merce Thornberry of Spencer; daughter, Linda T. Garner of Anderson; brother, Calvin Thornberry of Crown Point, Ind.; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and one step grandson.
Funeral services were held Friday, Feb. 14, at Robert D. Loose Funeral Home and Crematory in Anderson. Burial followed in Memorial Park Cemetery in Anderson. Wilda Lucille Roddy
WAXAHACHIE, TEXAS - Wilda Lucille Roddy, 87, of Waxahachie, died Monday, Feb. 10, 2003.
Born June 20, 1915 in Muhlenberg County, she was a Concessions Manager for Sports Services from 1939 until her retirement in 1980. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Fred Roddy, and her son, Leslie P. Roddy.
She is survived by two grandsons, Patrick Roddy and Nathan Baker; two brothers, Dewey Dwire of Bremen and Flavis Dwire of Louisville; two sisters, Mary Howard of Island and Iris Smith of Lansing, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Friday, Feb. 14, at Laurel Land Memorial Chapel. Interment followed at Laurel Land Memorial Park. Laurel Land Funeral Home in Dallas was in charge of arrangements.
W. Marvin Wilson
EVANSVILLE , IND. - W. Marvin Wilson, 91, of Evansville, formerly of Muhlenberg County, died Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2003, at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Evansville.
Born May 29, 1911 in Muhlenberg County, he was the owner and operator of Wilson’s Marathon Station. He attended Bethel Temple and enjoyed playing his guitar and singing. He enjoyed sports and sponsored softball teams in Evansville. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandson, Tony. He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene; two sons, Jerry Lynn and Jerome Wilson; and one grandson, Terry Wilson.
He is survived by one son, Gerald “Pete” (Martha) Wilson of Evansville; one grandson, Tony Wilson of Evansville; one sister, Patricia Spicer of Central City; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 1, at Ziemer Funeral Home in Evansville with the Rev. David Schwambach officiating. Burial followed at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery in Evansville. Novella Sanford Grundy
Novella Sanford Grundy, 80, of Central City, died Wednesday, Feb 12, 2003, at Good Samaritan Nursing Home.
Born July 23, 1922 in Muhlenberg County, she was a homemaker and a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
She is survived by one stepson, Joe Sanford, Sr. of Britton, Mich.; three grandchildren, Kelli Thiede of Nahsville, Tenn., Joe Sanford, Jr. of Tecumseh, Mich. and Amanda Sanford of Britton, Mich.; and six great-grandchildren, Danielle, Katelyn, Brandon, Amber, Zachary and Morgan.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 15, at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City with the Rev. Ernest Bean officiating. Burial followed in Fairmount Cemetery in Central City. Tucker Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Richard Allen Bedwell
CADIZ - Richard Allen Bedwell, 56, of Cadiz, died Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2003, at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville after several months illness.
Born May 9, 1946 in Madisonville, the son of Frank Richard Bedwell and Nora Verna Choate Bedwell, he was a teacher at Graham High School and Guidance Counselor at Muhlenberg South High School. He retired from Trigg County High School as Guidance Counselor after 30 years in education. He was a former K.A.P.O.S. president and served on the state cheerleading board of directors for more than 20 years. He coached state champion squads at Muhlenberg South High School and Trigg County High School. He served as director of Muhlenberg South Marching Suns Color Guard and most recently received Outstanding Coach of the Year for Trigg County Dance Cats Dance Team. He graduated from Earlington High School in 1964 and Western Kentucky University with a Bachelors, Masters and Rank I degrees.
He is survived by his mother, Nora C. Bedwell, of Earlington; brother, Maurie S. Bedwell of Owensboro; aunt, Martha Choate of Earlington; and God-children, Chris and Kristen Sparks of Cadiz.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 15, at Second Baptist Church in Greenville with the Rev. Carl Sparks officiating. Second funeral services were also held Saturday at First Christian Church in Earlington officiated by the Revs. Roger Pedro and David Simpson. Burial followed in Oakwood Cemetery in Earlington. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Richard Bedwell Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Kentucky Telco Credit Union, 933 Tamarack Road, Owensboro, KY 42301. Ralph Bennett Williams
DRAKESBORO - Ralph Bennett Williams, 77, of Drakesboro, died Feb. 12, 2003, at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville.
Born Aug. 25, 1925 in Barltolomen County, Ind., he was a member of Beech Creek Baptist Church; He was a retired Marine, winning numerous prestigious awards while serving in Korea, World War II and Vietnam .
He is survived by his wife, Mary Murphy Williams; one daughter, Sharyn A. (William E. ) Carver of Penrod; two granddaughters, Sheryl M. (Rodney) Dorris of Beechmont and Marylee C. (Kevin) Schreiber of Bowling Green; seven great-grandchildren, Rodney Dorris, Billy Dorris, Timmy Dorris, Kathleen Smith, Nicholas Smith, Brittany Smith and Kristi Schreiber; one brother, Roy Williams of Columbus, Ind.

Carol Lee Bastin
BELTON - Carol Lee Bastin, 61, of Belton, died Feb. 14, 2003, at Belle Meade Nursing Home in Greenville.
Born March 10, 1941 in Chicago, she was a homemaker and a Lutheran.
She is survived by two sons, Ray Samuel Bastin and Jeffery Bastin, both of Chicago; two daughters, Janice Oldham of Cincinnati, Ohio and Tina Camplin of Belton; seven grandchildren; one brother, Artie Dorsch of Chattanooga, Tenn.; and two sisters, Barbara Baggett of Livingston, Ill. and Debra Russell of Chicago, Ill.
Funeral services were private with the Rev. Danny Greene officiating. Burial was private. Tucker Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Orville Keith Bivin
Orville Keith Bivin, 72, of Central City, died Friday, Feb. 14, 2003, at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville.
Born Aug. 25, 1930 in Muhlenberg County, he was a member of New Harmony Baptist Church in Bremen. He and his wife, Peggy, owned and operated Bivin’s Furniture for 31 years. He was a past member of Central City Fire Department and enjoyed fishing, gospel singing and U.K. basketball. He was a UMWA coal miner for 12 years and worked for I.C.R.R. for four years. He was preceded in death by one son, Claude Duncan Bivin.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Peggy Taylor Bivin of Central City; one son, David Bivin of Beechmont; two daughters, Ellen Spicer of Central City and Beth Humphrey of Bremen; five grandchildren, Monica Dockery of Edwardsville, Ill., Alicia Cain of Beechmont, Taylor Humphrey of Bremen, Beau Bivin and Jason Spicer, both of Central City; and five great-grandchildren, Dylan Cain, Zachary Cain and Hughston Cain,
all of Beechmont, Grant Dockery and Harrison Dockery, both of Edwardsville, Ill.

Verble J. Young
MAYFIELD - Verble J. Young, 90, of Mayfield, died Thursday, Feb . 13, 2003, at Heritage Manor.
She was the daughter of Enos Sutherland and Etta James Burnett, was a member of Grace Baptist Church and a homemaker. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two brothers, two sisters, one half brother and one half sister.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Rev. Leonard Young; one son, Charles Young of Mayfield; three daughters, Margaret Jones and Jo Ann Raley, both of Mayfield and Brenda Moreland of West Chester, Ohio; one brother, Van Rudolph Burnett of Mayfield; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

John “J.C.” Celby Green
MADISONVILLE - John “J.C.” Celby Green, 85, of Madisonville, died Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2003, at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville.
Born Aug. 7, 1917 in Greenville, he was of the Christian faith. He was a brick layer and coal miner. He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Green in 1997; his father, John Green; his mother, Bessie Bethal Stewart Green; one son, Ronnie Vanover; two sisters, Bea Haley and Ruby Green; and three brothers, William Green, James “Pete” Green and Franklin Green.
He is survived by one daughter, Starla Vanover Hill of Madisonville; one grandson; one sister, Jeanetta Gasca of Greenville and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Friday, Feb. 14, at Harris Funeral Home in Madisonville with the Rev. Bruce Ferrell and Starla Hill officiating. Burial followed in Odd Fellows Cemetery. Harris Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
