Rockport - Mr. Gordon Taylor Fulkerson, 89, of Rockport died Wednesday, May 1, 2002 at Maple Manor Health Care Center in Greenville.
Mr. Fulkerson was born in Ohio County on October 24, 1912. He was a retired coal miner and of the Baptist faith. He was a KY Colonel, and a former cook at Fort Knox. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Irene Kirby Fulkerson in 1951.
Survivors include three sons, William Gordon Fulkerson, Darrell Eugene Fulkerson and Shirley Lee Fulkerson, all of Central City; three daughters, Mae McIntire of Evansville, IN, Christine Fulkerson Embrey of Mt. Vernon, IN, Brenda Ziglar of New Castle, IN; 24 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 4, 2002 at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City with Reverend Tim Adcock officiating. Burial followed in Nelson Creek in Central City.
John Bowden Milam
Lewisburg - Mr. John Bowden Milam, 96, of Greenville, formerly of Lewisburg, died Friday, May 3, 2002 at Belle Meade Nursing Home in Greenville.
Mr. Milam was born in Beechland, KY on April 26, 1906. He was retired from Price Funeral Home in Lewisburg and a retired farmer. He was a member of Beechland Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his father, John Preston Milam; his mother, Annie Milam; his wife, Hollis Alice Milam; and one grandson, Christopher Milam Kauble.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Eva Joy Kauble of Hopkinsville, Mrs. Jane Givens of Central City and Mrs. Mary Ann Wilson; two sons, Mr. Jimmy Milam of Beechmont and Mr. Denny Milam of Russell; one brother, Mr. Eldon Wood Milam of Bowling Green; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services were heldSunday, May 5, 2002 at Price Funeral Home in Lewisburg. Burial followed in Beechland Cemetery in Lewisburg.

Leslie Edmond Wilkins
Springfield, Illinois - Mr. Leslie Edmond Wilkins, 61, of Springfield, Illinois died Wednesday, May 1, 2002 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.
Mr. Wilkins was born in Central City, Kentucky on July 7, 1940. He was a member of Park Meadows Baptist Church of Lincoln. He was retired from Slabjackers Construction in Springfield. He was preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Ora Dell Sallee Wilkins.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn “Sue” Piper, of Springfield; three sons, Chuck (Nancy) Wilkins of Lincoln, IL, David (Jennifer) Wilkins of Lincoln and Terry (B.J.) Wilkins of Ceder Lake, Indiana; one daughter, Sue Ellen Wilkins of Plattsmouth, Nebraska; three brothers, Don Wilkins of Greenville, Phil Wilkins of Central City and Micah Wilkins of Central City; and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 4, 2002 at Park Meadows Baptist Church in Lincoln, Illinois with Reverend S.M. Davis officiating. Burial followed in New Union Cemetery in Lincoln, Illinois.

Betty Jo Ray Hulse
Central City - Mrs. Betty Jo Ray Hulse, 69, of Central City died Saturday, May 4, 2002 at her residence.
Mrs. Hulse was born in Muhlenberg County on October 24, 1932. She was a homemaker and enjoyed reading and spending time with her family. She was a member of First Christian Church in Central City. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mossie Hardison in 1989; her first husband, Willard Ray in 1973; and her second husband, Robert Hulse in 1994.
Survivors include two sons, David and daughter-in-law Tanya Ray of Galatin, TN and Brent Ray of Woodville, FL; one daughter, Carla and son-n-law Tim Vincent of Central City; four grandchildren, Bryan Vincent, Hustin and Abie Ray and Megan Ray; two sisters, Elaine Stechman of Auburn, AL and Ruby Anderson of East Chicago, IN; one brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Larry and Venita Ray of Central City; several nieces and nephews; one step-sister, Wanda Kenlor of Terre Haute, IN; and one step-brother, Willard Laster of Beechmont and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 7, 2002 at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City with Reverend C.W. Duncan officiating. Burial followed in Fairmount Cemetery.
Betty Lou Elmore
Drakesboro - Mrs. Betty Lou Elmore, 74, of Drakesboro died Saturday, May 4, 2002 at Owensboro Mercy Health System in Owensboro.
Mrs. Elmore was born in Butler County on April 29, 1928. She was homemaker and a member of New Paradise Baptist Church in Greenville.
Survivors include her husband, J.C. Elmore of Drakesboro; two sons, Steve Elmore of Browder and Barry Elmore of Lake City, Michigan; two daughters, Deborah Adkins of Woodhaven, Michigan and Angela Peppler of Howell, Michigan; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, James L. Hawes of Livinia, Michigan and Lucian Hawes of Scottsville, KY; and one sister, Maxine Pendley of Central City.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 7, 2002 at Tucker Funeral Home with Reverend Tim Adcock officiating. Burial followed in Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City.
Mildred Norene Wells
Kirkmansville - Mrs. Mildred Norene Wells, 87, of Kirkmansville died Sunday, May 4, 2002 at the Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville of natural causes.
Mrs. Wells was born in Todd County on February 2, 1915 to the late Oliver M. and Melissa Bell Draper. She was a homemaker and worked at Elkton Apparel. She was also a member of the Pleasant View Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Franklin Wells in 1997.
Survivors include two brothers, Albert Draper of Christian County and Arlet Draper of Corydon, KY.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 7, 2002 at Pleasant View Baptist Church with Reverend Tommy Wilhite officiating. Burial followed in Hale Cemetery.

Mabel Mae Perry Dukes
Greenville - Ms. Mabel Mae Perry Dukes, 89, of Greenville died Sunday, May 5, 2002 at her home after a brief illness.
Ms. Dukes was born in Muhlenberg County on January 27, 1913. She was a member of the Greenville Church of Christ. She owned and operated Dukes Cafe near Muhlenberg Central High School for 23 years and operated the Ramblin Rose Motel for six years. She enjoyed flowers, gardening, children and grandchildren.
Survivors include two sons, Charles W. Dukes and Perry L. Dukes both of Greenville; one daughter, Judith K. Smallings of St. Petersburg, FL.; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Nila Hailey of Owensboro; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 8, 2002 at Gary’s Funeral Home with Mr. Larry Perkins officiating. Burial will follow in Carter Creek Cemetery near Greenville.
Robie Harper, Jr.
Greenville - Mr. Robie Harper, Jr., 64, of Greenville died Sunday, April 21, 2002 at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville.
Mr. Harper was born in Muhlenberg County. He was a retired school teacher and basketball coach at Drakesboro High School. He coach for 27 years. After the consolidation of the school systems he also taught at Muhlenberg South High School and also coached the boys’ golf team.
Survivors include his wife, Glenda Peveler Harper of Greenville; one son, Eric Harper of Greenville; three brothers, Dave Harper of Penrod, Jim Harper of Beechmont and Charles Harper of Winter Park, Florida; and three sisters, Betty Hatcher, Jewell Mallorey and Marie McCauley, all three of Greenville.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 24, 2002 at 1 p.m. at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City with Reverend Gerald Jones officiating and Reverend Billy Vincent assisting. Burial will follow in the Cedar Grove Cemetery in Muhlenberg County.

Carolyn Lee McDonald
Central City - Mrs. Carolyn Lee McDonald of Central City died Tuesday, April 23, 2002 at the Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville.
Mrs. McDonald was born in Muhlenberg County. She was a member of First Christian Church in Central City and worked at Merle Norman Cosmetics in retail sales.
Survivors include her husband, Ronnie McDonald of Central City; one son, Joseph Scott Staples of Island; one step-son, Ronald Duwayne McDonald of Owensboro; two step-daughters, Trina McDonald of Seattle, WA and Kimberly McDonald of Central City; one grandchild, Misty Staples; one brother, Lamont Tucker of Central City; her father, James W. Tucker of Powderly; and her mother, Mattie M. Tucker of Cherry Hill.
Funeral services were held Friday, April 26, 2002 at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City with Reverend C.W. Duncan officiating and Reverend Donnie Neal assisting. Burial followed in Fairmount Cemetery in Central City.
Irene W. Rogers
Hopkinsville - Mrs. Irene W. Rogers, 70, of Hopkinsville died Saturday, April 20, 2002 at her home following a brief illness.
Mrs. Rogers was a native of Muhlenberg County and was born on January 18, 1932 to the late Daniel and Gertie Mae Putty Weatherford. She was a retired registered nurse at Western State Hospital and was a member of the Henderson Memorial Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra Rogers Westerman.
Survivors include her husband, David C. Rogers, Sr. of Hopkinsville; two sons, David C. Rogers, Jr. of Lakeland, Florida and Mark W. Rogers ofWest LaFayette, Indiana; one daughter, Jackie Rogers Lipham of Ledbetter; two brothers, Eugene and James Weatherford both of Lacy; three sisters, Ozie Weatherford Shelton of Greenville, Mildred Weatherford Sullivan of Hopkinsville and Dorothy Weatherford Boyd of Hermiston, Oregon; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held Tuesday, April 23, 2002 at Green Hill Memorial Gardens.

James Everette Richardson
Villa Rica, Georgia - Mr. James Everette Richardson, 58, of Villa Rica, Georgia died Tuesday, April 23, 2002 at his home.
Mr. Richardson was born in Stewart County, Tennessee on November 14, 1943. He was a meat specialist for Supervalu Wholesale Distribution Center in Atlanta, Georgia. He was a member of Carter Creek Baptist Church in Greenville and was attending First Baptist Church of Villa Rica, Georgia. He was an Army Veteran of the Vietnam War.
Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Bobbie Louise Webb Richardson of Villa Rica, Georgia; one daughter and son-in-law, Tina L. and Gregory Clemons of Greenville; one son and daughter-in-law, James H. (Jay) and Christa Richardson of Lindale, Texas; two grandchildren, Chad Michael Clemons and Whitney Danielle Clemons; one sister and brother-in-law, Geraldine and Howard Smith of Stanley, North Carolina; one brother, Thomas Edward Richardson of Clarksville, Tennessee; his mother-in-law, Mildred Webb of Tahlequah, Oklahoma; two step-sisters and brother-in-laws, Mae and Jimmy Hunter of New Mexico and Faye and Lester Brown of Lexington; and several nieces and nephews.

Rubin Gail Pogue
Elkton - Mr. Rubin Gail Pogue, 77, of Elkton diedMonday, April 22, 2002 at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee of natural causes.
Mr. Pogue was born in Belton, Kentucky on June 4, 1924 to the late Ellis and Mae Harper Pogue. He was a retired plumber and a member of New Harmony Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Martha Pogue of Elkton; two daughters, Bonnie Key and Kathy Johnson, both of Louisville; one sister, Irene Self of Owensboro; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Thursday, April 25, 2002 at Martin Funeral Home in Elkton with Reverend Bob Bullock and Reverend Roger Skipworth officiating. Burial followed in New Harmony Cemetery in Todd County.
Laura Edna Coe
Beechmont - Ms. Laura Edna Coe, 90, of Beechmont died Monday, April 22, 2002 at Belle Meade Nursing Home in Greenville.
Ms. Coe was born in Butler County on September 10, 1911. She was employed at the Muhlenberg Community Hospital as a Nurse’s Aide and a former head cook at Hughes-Kirk School. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Greenville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Robert Clarence Coe; her father, Mr. John Clayburn Smith; her mother, Mrs. Margaret Ann Perry Davidson Smith; and one son, Bill Neil Coe.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Margorie Ann Lomax of Owensboro and Mrs. Betty Thompson of Russellville; three sons, Mr. Morris Coe of Evansville, Indiana, Mr. John Frank Coe of Indianapolis, Indiana and Mr. James “Jim” Coe of Puerto Rico; 19 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Louis Edward Davis
Bremen - Mr. Louis Edward Davis, 80, of Bremen died Sunday, April 28, 2002 at the Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville.
Mr. Davis was born in McLean County on October 24, 1921. He was a car man employed at ICRR and was a member of New Harmony Baptist Church. He was also a veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Lillian Davis of Bremen; two sons, Dewayne Davis and Mike Davis both of Bremen; three daughters, Joan Brown of St. Charles, MO, Diane Delashmit of Lebanon, TN and Cheryl Gray of Bremen; 13 grandchildren, Robby Davis, Tony Davis, Candi Vincent, Jeff Gray, Julie Gray, Billy Mike Davis and Michelle McDonald all of Bremen, Chasity Weldon of Sacramento, Tracy Hardison of Alamogordo, New Mexico, Scott Brown of Ofallono, MO, David Brown of St. Peters, MO, John Delashmit of Tennessee and Jaime Balyeat of Tennessee; and two brothers, Hershel Davis of Evansville and Cecil Davis of Louisville.

J.C. Stovall
Bowling Green - Mr. J.C. Stovall, 73, of Bowling Green died Thursday, April 25, 2002 at his residence.
Mr. Stovall was born in Greenville to the late Earl Stovall and Eula Mae Stovall. He was a retired employee of Sear Roebuck and Company for 35 years. He was past owner of Lee’s Famous Recipe Restaurant in Owensboro. He was of the Baptist faith and was an Air Force Veteran of the Korean War. Not only was he preceded in death by his parents but also one sister, Earlene Downey and one brother, Hildred Stovall.
Survivors include one daughter, Beth James of Bowling Green; one son, Scot Stovall of Owensboro; one step-son, Bill Wathen of Owensboro; three brothers, Forrest Stovall of Owensboro, Paul Stovall of Owensboro and Harold Stovall of Fort Charlotte, Florida; and seven grandchildren.

James W. Gardner
Eddyville - Mr. James W. Gardner, 76, of Eddyville, formerly of Paducah, died Monday, April 22, 2002 at Lourdes Hospital in Paducah.
Mr. Gardner was born in Kentucky on December 9, 1925. He was a retired coal miner for Island Creek Ties and Webster County and South Hopkins Coal. He was also a member of Bassmasters Club, Bass Anglers Society and was a Veteran of World War II. He was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by one son, Steve and one daughter, Jimmie.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Alexander Gardner of Eddyville; one brother, Charles Gardner of Providence; three sisters, Maxine Lovan of Madisonville, Imogene Whitledge of Haubstadt, IN and Hennerita Heath of Evansville, IN; one grandson, Christopher Michael Gardner of Madisonville; and two great-grandchildren, Dylan and Eric Gardner of Madisonville.
Funeral services were held Thursday, April 25, 2002 at Townsend-Jones Funeral Home in Providence. Burial followed in White Oak Cemetery in Webster County.
James Douglas Vick
Greenville - Mr. James Douglas Vick, 67, of Greenville died Wednesday, April 24, 2002 at Owensboro Mercy Health System in Owensboro.
Mr. Vick was born in Muhlenberg County on July 5, 1934. He was a supervisor at Malone Lumber and a member of New Cypress Baptist Church in New Cypress in Muhlenberg County. He was also an Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Martine Noffsinger Vick of Greenville; one son, Michael Vick of Henderson; one brother, Drexel Vick of Bremen; three sisters, Nancy Corelius of Greenville, Myrtle “Tootsie” Baldwin of Madisonville and Sue Durall of Greenville; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 27, 2002 at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City with Reverend Jeff Noffsinger officiating. Burial followed in New Cypress in Greenville.
