Born March 5, 1951, to the late Jesse L. and Gladys Nelson Rowans, she was a member of Second Baptist Church and a registered nurse.
Survivors include her husband, Bill Clouse; a son, Ryan Clouse of Hopkinsville; two brothers, Douglas Rowans of Newburgh, Ind. and David Rowans of Central City and four sisters, Elizabeth Jarvis and Barbara Withrow, both of Central City, Virginia Edwards of Louisville and Betty Gerteisen of Owensboro.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Jan. 31 at Maddux Fuqua Hinton Funeral Home with the Rev. John Christian officiating.
Sallie Mae Vinson
MADISONVILLE ? Sallie Mae Vinson, 96, died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2005 at her residence.
Born in Muhlenberg County Dec. 25, 1908, to the late David Groves and Patsy Groves, she was preceded in death by her husband Francis Everitt (Red) Vinson in 1980.
Survivors include four sisters, Lillian Warner and Pline Cobb, both of White Plains and Mary Rolley and Jane Stanley, both of Graham; a brother, Jim Tom Groves of Graham and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Jan. 31 at Gary’s Funeral Home with the Rev. Gerald Tyson officiating. Burial followed in Vernal Grove Cemetery in Depoy.
Norman V. Dossett
SACRAMENTO ? Norman V. Dossett, 87, died Jan. 28, 2005 at Owensboro Medical Health System.
Born in Jackson, Mich. March 29, 1917, to the late Arch and Alice Dossett, he was a graduate of Western Kentucky University and taught music in the McLean County School System. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service, having served 39 years as Postmaster at Sacramento and having served as State President of the National League of District Postmasters. A veteran of World War II and the Korean War, he retired at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel from the U.S. Army Reserves after 28 and a half years of service. As a member of the Sacramento United Methodist Church, he served on the official board, held the offices of treasurer and Sunday school superintendent and taught the men’s Sunday school class. In addition, he served as chairman of the board at the Sacramento Deposit Bank and held memberships with the Sacramento Masonic Lodge #735, the Sacramento Order of the Eastern Star #67, the American Legion, James Bethel Gresham Post and the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Norma Sue Dossett in February 2000.
Survivors include his wife, Susie Batsel Dossett; a son, Jon Michael (Cathy) Dossett of San Antonio, Texas and two grandchildren, Andrew Michael and Jon Garrett Dossett.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Jan. 31 at Tucker Funeral Home in Sacramento with the Rev. Jesse Johnson officiating. Burial followed at the Sacramento United Methodist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to the Sacramento United Methodist Church Building Fund, 155 Walnut Street, Sacramento, KY 42372.
Martha Gail France
SACRAMENTO ? Martha Gail France, 52, died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2005 at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville.
Born in Hopkins County Jan. 28, 1953, the daughter of Kennety and Christine Copley of Greenville, she was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Wayne France; a son, Troy France of Bremen; a daughter, Jennie France of Bremen; her mother, Christine Copley of Greenville; a brother, Kenneth Copley of Greenville; three sisters, Brenda Capps of Bremen, Alice Durall of Greenville and Nadean Bryant of Mannington and a grandchild.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Feb. 1 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Bobby Brown officiating. Burial followed in Bethlehem Cemetery in Bremen.
Gladys Edith Bastin
Gladys Edith Bastin, 94, died Sunday, Jan. 30, 2005 at Owensboro Health Care System.
Born in Muhlenberg County Aug. 20, 1910, she was a member of the Christian Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Sara Darner of Central City; a son, John Bastin of Lexington; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held at 1:30 p.m. Feb. 1 at Evergreen Cemetery with the Rev. George Carmen officiating. Tucker Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Clarence LeRoy Griffin
Clarence LeRoy Griffin, 90, died Monday, Jan. 31, 2005 at Owensboro Medical Health System.
Born in Nashville May 17, 1914 to the late Clarence O. and Myrtle Griffin, he was a retired businessman who owned and operated Sanitary Cleaners in Central City. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Central City. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred Griffin Harding Cole and a brother, Herman Griffin.
Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Florene Scott Griffin and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Feb. 3 at Tucker Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery in Central City. Visitation will be from 4:30 to 8 p.m. Feb. 2 at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the First United Methodist Church of Central City.
Victor David Redd
CADIZ Victor David Redd, 79, died Monday, Jan. 31, 2005 at his daughter’s residence.
Born in Caldwell County March 30, 1925 to the late Edgar Thomas and Lillian Mae Jones Redd, he was a member of the U.S. Navy, retired from the U.S. Army and retired from Ingil Shipyard. He was of the Baptist faith, a veteran of World War II and a lifetime member of American Legion Post 116, VFW Post 1159, Eagles and Elks. He was preceded in death by a son, Maurice Wayne Redd, two brothers, Edgar Milton Redd and Omar Thomas Redd, and a sister, Sybil Skinner.
Survivors include two sons, Bruce Redd of Caldwell County and Kenny Redd of Cadiz; three daughters, Iris “Cissy” Lawrence and Sandy Bybee, both of Cadiz, and Jillian Redd of Pascagoula, Miss.; three sisters, Lois Bullock of Central City, Hazel Wadlington of Cadiz, and Myrtle Curtis of Hammond, Ind.; and eight grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Feb. 2 at Goodwin Funeral Home in Cadiz with the Rev. Robin Redd and the Rev. Paxton Redd officiating. Burial will follow at Wall Cemetery in Wallonia. SACRAMENTO – Lillian Lyons, 73, died Friday, Feb. 3, 2006 at her residence.
Born in Muhlenberg County March 1, 1932, the daughter of the late Woodrow and Gertie Miller, she was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Miller and a sister, Ruby Nell Harris.
Survivors include her husband, Roy Melvin Lyons; two sons, Roy Lynn Lyons and Rondall Wayne Lyons, both of Sacramento; a daughter, Sheila Ann Hendricks of Central City; six brothers, Daniel Miller of Central City, Curtis Miller, Harry Miller, Darrell Miller, Carroll Miller and Timmy Miller, all of Sacramento; four sisters, Donella Iglehart and Debbie Austin, both of Sacramento, Judy Oster of Missouri and Patty Woosley of Bremen and six grandchildren, Jeremy Hendricks, Tabitha Lyons, Nicholas Lyons, Justin Austin, Alison Hendricks and April Lyons.

Wilfrid Murray Winter
GREENVILLE – Wilfrid Murray Winter, 88, died Monday, January 30, 2006 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital.
Born in Milford, Mass. Feb. 11, 1917, the son of the late Murray Winter and Ethel Kirkton Winter, he served as a major in the Army during World War II and was a Kentucky Colonel. He founded Creek Oil Company, Inc., an oil exploration and production company which operated in Muhlenberg and surrounding counties for 35 years. He was a member of the Greenville United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his son, David Murray Winter and a sister, Elizabeth Winter Raymond.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Carmen “Minin” Winter; three daughters, Margie (Jim) Herald of Indianapolis, Ind., Dianne “Winny” (David) Jernigan of Greenville and Connie (Walt) Meriwether of Greenville; a daughter-in-law, Lisa Bethel Winter of Greenville; a sister, Ethel Winter Hyman of New York, N.Y.; eight grandchildren, Christen Wall, Stuart Wall, Eric (Melissa) Jernigan, Carrie Jernigan, Andrew Jernigan, Jennifer Meriweather, Chris Meriweather and Kevin Winter and one great-grandchild, Katelyn Jernigan.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Feb. 2 from the Greenville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Vernon Perdue officiating. Burial followed in Evergreen Cemetery in Greenville. George William Jernigan
GREENVILLE – George William Jernigan, 83, died Saturday, Feb. 4, 2006 in the Muhlenberg Community Hospital after a sudden illness.
Born in Muhlenberg County April 9, 1922, the son of the late Shelly Elbert Jernigan and Mable Pearl Foley Jernigan, he was a retired farmer, coal miner having worked for Amax Coal Company for 10 years and a bus driver for the Muhlenberg County Board of Education. He was a member of Mercer Baptist Church where he was a member of the church choir. He was an army veteran of World War II, serving in the South Pacific. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ernestine Heltsley Jernigan on Feb. 7, 1995; a great-grandchild, James Christian Cummings on Dec. 2, 2000 and five brothers, Roy Jernigan, Gilbert Jernigan, Jewell “Butch” Jernigan, Gene Jernigan and Howard Lee Jernigan.
Survivors include a son, Billy (Kay) Jernigan of Greenville; a daughter, Kathy Lear of Tywhoppety, Ky.; four brothers, James “Pete” (Lucille) Jernigan and Wendell (Barbara) Jernigan, all of Greenville, Lannie (Judy) Jernigan of Lewisburg and Bobby Jernigan of Utica; five sisters, Myrtle Lofthouse of Chicago, Betty Benningfield of Lakeland, Fla., Hazel Webster, Lucy (Bud) Ford and Janice (Lindell) Grace, all of Greenville; six grandchildren, Johnathan Jernigan of Glasgow, Pvt. James T. Lear of Fort Sam Houston, Texas, Lee Lear of Bowling Green, Melissa McDonald, Tabitha (Timothy) Abshire and Shellie (Richard) King, all of Greenville and six great-grandchildren.

Catholene Cox Pollock
GREENVILLE – Catholene Cox Pollock, 95, died Sunday, Feb. 5, 2006 in the Belle Meade Nursing Home after several weeks of illness.
Born in Lawrence County, Ill. Oct. 17, 1910, the daughter of the late Grover C. Cox and Hattie Jane Fox Cox, she had lived in Greenville since 1929. She was a retired secretary for the Greenville United Methodist Church after 15 years. She was a member there for 77 years and was active in Sunday school work. She also volunteered at the Muhlenberg Community Hospital for 40 years and was a member of the Eastern Star for over 60 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Archie Duncan Pollock; two brothers, Bernard Cox and G.C. Cox, Jr. and one grandson, Charles C. Pollock.
Survivors include two sons, Dr. A.D. (Clara Ann) Pollock of Nashville and Harry (Kathy) Pollock of Greenville; a sister, Jean Sumner of Owensboro; two brothers, Dr. Billy Joe Cox of Louisville and Gaylord Cox of Lexington; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Feb. 7 from the Greenville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Vernon Perdue officiating. Burial followed in Unity Cemetery in Graham. Mary Margaret Allen
DRAKESBORO – Mary Margaret Allen, 65, died Friday, Feb. 3, 2006 at her residence.
The daughter of Robert Earl (Buck) Thomas and Beatrice Thomas, she was a wonderful wife and a beloved mother. She retired from Caldens of Greenville. She loved her flower gardens and playing yahtzee. She was preceded in death by her father.
Survivors include her husband, Oscar Lee Allen, Sr.; her mother, Beatrice Thomas of Powderly; a daughter, Mary Lee (Eddie Bland) Brake of Drakesboro; two sons, Tex Ray (Tammy) Allen and Oscar Lee (Teresa) Allen, Jr., all of Drakesboro; a sister, Anna (Phillip) Newman; two brothers, Jimmy (Christine) Thomas and Rudy (Joann) Thomas; 10 grandchildren, Sara Elizabeth (Brad) Owens of Dunmor, Ashley Allen of Hartford, Misty Dawn (Robert Earl) Brake-Hambrick, Stephanie Ann Brake, Tracy Louise Allen, Eddie Lee Brake, Tex Ray Allen, Jr., Oscar Lee Allen, Kristi Nicole Allen and Kayla Allen, all of Drakesboro; two great-grandchildren, Jason Tyler Brake-Hambrick of Drakesboro and Carley Elizabeth Owens of Dunmor; a step-great-grandchild, Jessica Griffin; and several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

Anna Lee Duncan
GREENVILLE – Anna Lee Duncan, 86, died Saturday, Feb. 4, 2006 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital.
Born in Hopkins County Jan. 13, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Clinton William Gatlin and Bonnie Stodghill Gatlin. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and a member of the First Christian Church in Central City. Her hobbies included sewing and quilt making.
Survivors include her husband of 67 years, the Rev. C.W. Duncan; a daughter, Charlotte Duncan Ogden of Owensboro; a son, Dennis (Teresa) Duncan of Greenville; a brother, W. C. Gatlin of Madisonville; a granddaughter, Heather Duncan; six grandsons, Benji Ogden, Heath Duncan, Matt Ogden, Bryar Duncan, Chad Vincent and Jeremy Vincent and a great-granddaughter, Hailey Vincent.

Bessie Tooley, 85, died Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2006 at the Beaver Dam Health Care Manor.
Born in Muhlenberg County Aug. 5, 1920, she was a homemaker and a member of Trinity Pentecostal Church in Central City. She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Norman Ray Tooley; a son, Danny Carol Tooley and a sister, Merle Milstead.
Survivors include six sons, Wendell Ray Tooley of Roselle, Ill., Bradley Lee Tooley of New Harmony, Ind., Norman Wayne Tooley and Gary Lynn Tooley, both of Bremen and Elbert Dwight Tooley and Teddy Clay Tooley, both of Sacramento; two daughters, Rebecca Jo Chinn of Cromwell and Jetta J. Morse of Owensboro; two sisters, Mable Cook of Florida and Lucille Gregory of Central City; 22 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Nina Ann Cady
Nina Ann Cady, 34, died Jan. 29, 2006 in Paducah.
Born in Hopkins County Sept. 24, 1971, the daughter of Daniel and Shirley Tooley Bowles, she was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include her husband, Gene Cady; her parents; a brother, Van Bowles and her grandmothers, Alma Lois Tooley and Stacy Bowles.
Private funeral services were held with the Rev. Carl Sparks officiating. Burial followed in Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City. Tucker Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
David Ward “Dada” Gunn
CLEATON – David Ward “Dada” Gunn, 61, died Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2006 at his residence.
Born in Muhlenberg County June 13, 1944, the son of the late John Mitchell and Gladys Gunn, he was a truck driver and a member of Cleaton Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a brother, Daniel “Danny Boy” Gunn.
Survivors include a son, David Gunn of Central City; a daughter, Angela Keating of Cleaton; two sisters, Betty Geary of Cleaton and Kathleen Taylor of Palastine, Ill.; five brothers, Jimmy Gunn of Central City, Buddy Gunn of Cleaton, Johnny Gunn of Graham, Kenny Gunn of South Carrollton and Mitchell Gunn of Greenville; his companion for life, Shirley Gunn; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
