Cadiz - Mrs. Marie Earle, 90, of Cadiz died Tuesday, February 19, 2002 at Caldwell County Hospital in Princeton.
Mrs. Earle was a retired teacher from the Muhlenberg County School System with 30 plus years of service. She was a member of Rockcastle United Methodist Church in Cadiz and a member of Madeline #64 Eastern Star in Greenville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Amos Earle; two brothers, Homer Thomas and Marshall Thomas; and by her parents, Baron Elmer Thomas and Sophronia Chamberlan Thomas.
Survivors include one son, Billie Earle of Hopkins County; one daughter, Sandra Pranschke of Minneapolis, Mn.; and four grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, February 23, 2002 at Lakeland Funeral Home in Eddyville. Burial followed in Rolling Hills Cemetery in Eddyville.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to: Eddyville United Methodist Youth, Ministry Program, 214 Jenkins Road, Eddyville, Kentucky 42038; or Pidelis Sunday School Class, Eddyville United Methodist Church, 214 Jenkins Road, Eddyville, Kentucky 42038.

James Matthew Drea
Central City - Mr. James Matthew Drea, Jr., 81, of Central City died Monday, February 25, 2002 at the Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville.
Mr. Drea was born in Kincade, Illinois on September 30, 1921. He was U.S. Army retired and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by Giula Drea in 1983.
Survivors include his wife, Agnes Monaghan Drea; one son, George Drea of Central City; one daughter, Sunshine “Debra” Drea of Central City; and four grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 28, 2002 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Ben Luther officiating. Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery in Central City.
Tucker Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.

Jennie Lee Roe
Elkton - Mrs. Jennie Lee Roe, 91, of Elkton died Sunday, February 24, 2002 at Senior Citizens Nursing Home in Madisonville of natural causes.
Mrs. Roe was born in Todd County on May 12, 1910 to the late Guy and Pearlie Thomason Wilkins. She was a homemaker and a member of the New Cedar Grove Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Gid “Tom” Roe in 1976 and one son, Robert Roe in 2000.
Survivors include one son, Alton Roe of Elkton; one daughter, Agnes West of Nortonville; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 27, 2002 at Latham Funeral Home with Reverend Calvin Bond and Mr. Larry Perkins officiating at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in the Cedar Grove Cemetery.

Shirley Ann Kinney
White Plains - Mrs. Shirley Ann Kinney, 61, of White Plains died Monday, February 25, 2002 at Owensboro Mercy Health System after a short illness.
Mrs. Kinney was born in Fort Myers, Florida on January 23, 1941. She was a member of the Maple Grove General Baptist Church in South Carrollton.
Survivors include her husband of 32 years, John Kinney of White Plains; one daughter, Alana Milam of White Plains; one son, John William Kinney of White Plains; four grandchildren; and one sister, Margaret Nelson of Midland.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 27, 2002 at 2 p.m. at Gary’s Funeral Home in Greenville with Reverend Lehman Mefford officiating. Burial will follow in Old Liberty Cemetery in Greenville.

Claudie Rice
Madisonville - Mr. Claudie Rice, 70, of Madisonville died Thursday, February 14, 2002 at his residence.
Mr. Rice was born in Hopkins County on August 2, 1931 to the son of the late William Henry Rice. He retired after 20 years in the Air Force and 23 years with Earl C. Clements Job Corp. in Greenville. He was a life member of the VFW #5480, a Kentucky Colonel, a member of Melody Lanes Bowling Leagues and a member of the Retired Air Force Association. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Dorman Ray Rice.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Rice of Madisonville; his mother, Luria Edna Cartwright Rice of Madisonville; two daughters, Glenna Rae Riggs of Nebo and Theresa Rice Matthews of Madisonville; three sons, Harold Reed Rice of Dalton, Danny Ray Rice of West Liberty and William Earl “Billy” Rice of Central City; two brothers, Shirley Lee Rice and Glendal Rice both of Madisonville; eight grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Sunday, February 17, 2002 at Browder United Methodist Church with Brother Marty Martinez officiating. Burial followed in the Browder Cemetery.
Memorials may take the form of donations to Green River Hospice, Mahr Cancer Center or Browder United Methodist Church.
Barnett-Strother Funeral Home in Madisonville was in charge of all arrangements.

Thelma Eulene Warren
Central City - Ms. Thelma Eulene Warren, 92, of Central City died Tuesday, February 12, 2002 at Belle Meade Nursing Center in Greenville.
Ms. Warren was born in Muhlenberg County on January 16, 1910. She was a cook at Central City High School and a member of Cherry Hill Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Clarence Warren of Booneville, Indiana and Ray Warren of Clay, Kentucky; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Clevender Wiggins and Freeman Wiggins both of Central City; and two sisters, Nadine Eades of Central City and Ethel Brown of Bremen.
Funeral services were held Friday, February 15, 2002 at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City with Reverend Leroy Rearden officiating and Reverend Ron Noffsinger assisting. Burial followed in Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City.

Ruby Payne Risley
Central City - Ms. Ruby Payne Risley, 79, of Central City died Tuesday, February 12, 2002 at the Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville.
Ms. Risley was born in Muhlenberg County on August 7, 1922. She was a homemaker and a member of First Christian Church in Central City.
Survivors include four granchildren, Scott Risley, Dawna Turley, Brandon Risley and Misty Joines; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, February 15, 2002 at Tucker Funeral Home with Reverend C.W. Duncan officiating. Burial followed in Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City.

Jo Ann Bard
Greenville - Mrs. Jo Ann Bard, 47, of Greenville died Tuesday, February 12, 2002 at Maple Manor Nursing Home in Greenville.
Mrs. Bard was born in Hopkins County on December 16, 1954. She was a homemaker and a member of Power House Church of God in Christ in Greenville.
Survivors include her husband, Larry Lee Bard; one son, Larry DeShawnt Bard of Greenville; three daughters, Katrina Renee Harrison of Central City, Joy Lee Ann Hampton of Depoy and Ebony Shantel Monique Bard of Greenville; five grandchildren, Kaneesha Bard, Christopher Bard, Da Brayln Hampton, Ezekiel Merritt and Kyndal Bard; her mother, Martha Lovan of Nortonville; five brothers, James Sharber of Mortons Gap, William Lovan of Henderson, Terry Lovan of Louisville, Carl Garrett of Bowling Green and Ray Lovan of Evansville; and five sisters, Chequita Cowherd of Fort Wayne, In., Martha Hawkins of Greenville, Lisa Leavell of Little Rock, Ar., Karen Drake of Greenville and Leslie Tandy of Madisonville.
Funeral services were held Saturday, February 16, 2002 at Power House Church of God in Greenville. Burial followed in Old Unity Cemetery in Graham.

Anna Elizabeth "Betty" Roll Staples
Hopkinsville - Mrs. Anna Elizabeth “Betty” Roll Staples, 79, of Hopkinsville died Thursday, February 14, 2002 at Jennie Stuart Medical Center in Hopkinsville.
Mrs. Staples was born in Muhlenberg County on February 27, 2002. She was employed by Morse Florist. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Staples in March 2000.
Survivors include two sons, David Staples of Clarksville, Tn. and Richard Staples of Hopkinsville; one daughter, Debbie Frank of Henderson; two brothers, J.T. Roll of Bremen and Tom Roll of Slaughters; two sisters, Eula Mae Bastin of Owensboro and Jewell Dell Roll of Owensboro; nine grandchildren, John David Staples, Jennifer Wilson, Brandy Braziel, Jason Staples, Patrick Staples, Michael Staples, Jimmy Bastin, Julianna Staples and Justin Staples; and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday, February 17, 2002 at Tucker Funeral Home with Reverend Joe Kitchens officiating. Burial followed in Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City.

James William "Billy" Lewis
Bremen - Mr. James William “Billy” Lewis, 72, of died Tuesday, February 12, 2002 at Owensboro Mercy Health System in Owensboro.
Mr. Lewis was born in Muhlenberg County on November 25, 1929. He was retired from Whirlpool in Evansville and a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. He was past master of Bremen Masonic Lodge 59 and former president of Bremen Lions Club and served in the United States Air Force.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Mae Lou (Adkins) Lewis; two sons, Gary Lewis and Eddie Lewis both of Bremen; one daughter, Debbie Nelson of Bremen; seven grandchildren; and two sisters, Mary Katherine Miller of Hardinsburg and Nancy Price of Louisville.
Funeral services were held Friday, February 15, 2002 at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City with Reverend Leroy Rearden officiating. Burial followed in Bethlehem Cemetery in Bremen.

Louis Earnest Baker
Greenville - Mr. Louis Earnest Baker, 91, of Greenville died Thursday, February 14, 2002 at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville after a lengthy illness.
Mr. Baker was born in Dixon, N.D. on July 17, 1908. He retired in 1969 from Browning-Badgett Coal Company as a welder and was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by one son, Ralph Baker, in 1995.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Mildred Baker of Greenville; two daughters, Yvonne (Virgil) Nolan of Greenville and Kathy (Grady) Winton of White Plains; one son, Murray (Ruth) Baker of Estacada, Oregon; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Arlene Curtis of Yucca Valley, Ca.
Funeral services were held Saturday, February 16, 2002 at Gary’s Funeral Home in Greenville with Reverend Donnie Wilkins officiating. Burial followed in Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Powderly.

Bill Rager
Lufkin, Texas - Mr. Bill Rager, 70, of Lufkin, Texas, formerly of Todd County died Thursday, February 14, 2002 at Memorial Hospital in Lufkin of natural causes.
Mr. Rager was born in Todd County on October 15, 1931 to the late Harold and Clara Shelton Rager. He was a self-employed businessman and a member of the Vesper Lodge #71 and Rizpah Shrine Temple in Madisonville.
Survivors include his wife, Martha Rager of Lufkin; one son, Harold Rager of Elkton; three daughters, Carolyn Shirkey and Dixie Brooks both of Henderson and Regina M. McMurray of Lufkin; one brother, David Rager of Henderson; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held Monday, February 18, 2002 at Latham Funeral Home with Reverend Willard Clement officiating. Burial followed in Cedar Grove Cemetery.

Helen Alice Wilkins Beck
Hopkinsville - Mrs. Helen Alice Wilkins Beck, 96, of Covington’s Convalescent Center died Thursday, February 14, 2002 at Jennie Stuart Medical Center following a long illness.
Mrs. Wilkins was born in Christian County on October 12, 1905 to the late James William and Osey Annis Fritz Wilkins. She had been a bookkeeper for Cayce Yost and for radio station, WFIW. In addition, she had served as bookkeeper for several Christian County Sheriffs. She was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in deathby her husband, David Kirby Beck in 1976.
Survivors include two sisters, Mary Frances Bouldin and Anne Elizabeth Primm, both of Hopkinsville.
Funeral services were held Monday, February 18, 2002 at Hughart and Beard Funeral Home in Hopkinsville with Reverend James E. Talley officiating. Burial followed in Riverside Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

Jannie Gayle Rose
Greenville - Ms. Jannie Gayle Rose, 52, of Greenville, died Saturday, February 16, 2002 at her residence.
Ms. Rose was born in Tennessee on July 25, 1949. She was a receptionist at the Muhlenberg County Detention Center.
Survivors include one son, Michael Rose of Powderly; one daughter, Shelia Shelton of Greenville; three grandchildren, Hailey Shelton, Rien Shelton and Colbie Sorrels; her mother, Eldren Versie Wilson of Red Bolin Springs, Tn.; one, half brother, Jimmy Wilson of Henderson; and three sisters, Jo Ann Colpus, Betty Sue Wilson and Wilodene Meadows all of Tennessee.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 19, 2002 at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City with Reverend Billy Vincent officiating.

Jessie Everly Griffin
Bremen - Mrs. Jessie Everly Griffin, 91, of Bremen died Saturday, February 16, 2002 at her residence in Bremen.
Mrs. Griffin was born in Muhlenberg County on October 23, 1910. She was a homemaker and a member of First Apostolic Church in Bremen.
Survivors include her husband, George Griffin of Bremen; one son, Isaac D. Griffin of Hammond; two daughters, Mary Paris of Hammond and June Nanie of Bremen; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 19, 2002 at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City with Reverend Charles Rhodus officiating. Burial followed in Rose Hill Cemetery.

William "Happy" Knight
Beech Creek - Mr. William “Happy” Knight, 82, of Beech Creek died Monday, February 18, 2002 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville.
Mr. Knight was born in Muhlenberg County on January 17, 1920. He was a retired coal miner. He was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church and a veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bessie Knight and grandson, Jeffery Knight.
Survivors include two sons, Bobby Hearld Knight of Beaver Dam and James Edgar Knight of Browder; one daughter, June Hill of Browder; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one sister, Geneva Joines of Beech Creek.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 20, 2002 at Ebenezer Baptist Church with Reverend Ron Melton officiating and Reverend Mike Chambers assisting. Burial will follow in Ebenezer Cemetery in Ebenezer.

Arlyn Edward Jenkins
White Plains - Mr. Arlyn Edward Jenkins, 68, of White Plains died Sunday, February 17, 2002 at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville.
Mr. Jenkins was born in Manitou, KY on March 20, 1933 to the late Sam Shirley and Rebecca Cates Jenkins. He worked for 16 years as a floor maintenance worker at Kentucky Rest Haven in Madisonville. He belonged to the Pleasant View Missionary Baptist Church in Madisonville and was a lover of gospel music. He was preceded in death by his twin brother, Marlyn Jenkins and another brother, Junior Jenkins.
Survivors include his wife, Audrey Phillips Jenkins of White Plains; four daughters, Meneisa Jenkins of Mortons Gap, Peggy Masoncup of Hopkinsville, Janice Poe of Madisonville and Mary Conrad of White Plains; three sons, A.J. Jenkins of Greenville, Sherman Conrad of White Plains and Carroll Conrad of White Plains; one sister, Shirley McGinnis of Madisonville; two brothers, Jerry Jenkins of Mortons Gap and Cleatus Jenkins of Dawson Springs; 15 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 20, 2002 at Reid-Walters Funeral Home in Earlington with Reverend Chuck Evans officiating. Burial will follow in Oakley Home Cemetery in Manitou.

Minnie Ethel Napier
Central City - Ms. Minnie Ethel Napier, 87, of Central City died Sunday, February 17, 2002 at her residence in Central City.
Ms. Napier was born in Lauren County, Kentucky on November 22, 1914. She was a homemaker and a member of First Christian Church in Central City.
Survivors include two daughters, Natalie McDowell of Ormond Beach, Florida and Patricia DeVault of Owensboro; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Lucy Ford of Central City.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 20, 2002 at 1 p.m. at Tucker Funeral Home with Reverend C.W. Duncan officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City.
