Survivors include several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held at 3 p.m. Dec. 18 at Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City with the Rev. Gene Harper and the Rev. Bob Lowery officiating.Tucker Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Jessie Louise Cothran
EARLINGTON – Jessie Louise Cothran, 83, died Thursday, Dec. 15, 2005 at her residence.
Born in Princeton Feb. 18, 1922 to the late Jess Wilson and May (Ashley) Wilson Byrd, she was a beautician and a former beauty school instructor.She retired as an inspector for the State Board of Hairdressers and was a member of the Earlington First United Methodist Church.She was preceded in death by her husband, Liggett Cothran, in 1992; a daughter, Faye Cothran Gipson in 2004; five brothers, Ronald, Hubert, Jimmy, Johnny and Edward Wilson and two sisters, Lillian Jones and Virgie Calvert.
Survivors include a son, Liggett Cothran, Jr. of Lambertville, Mich.; two daughters, Ann Gipson of Earlington and Rita Richey of Bremen; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and four sisters, Margie Crippens of Houston, Texas, Dorothy Childers of Dawson Springs and Patsy McChesney and Shirley Stephens, both of Princeton.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Dec. 18 at the Reid-Walters Funeral Home in Earlington with the Rev. Ronnie Young officiating.Burial followed in Grapevine Cemetery in Madisonville.
Howard Franklin Cessna
LAKE STATION, IND. – Howard Franklin Cessna, 70, died Sunday, Dec. 11, 2005 at his residence.
Born in Muhlenberg County Sept. 10, 1935, he was a retired steel worker with U.S. Steel and of the Pentecostal faith.
Survivors include three sons, Howard Wayne Cessna of Greenville and Harold Shelby Taylor and William Lee Cessna, both of Powderly; a daughter, Peggy Ann Moore of Powderly; nine grandchildren and a brother, James Cessna of Portland, Ore.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Dec. 17 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Leroy Rearden officiating.Burial followed in Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City.
Robert Tomlinson Durbin
POWDERLY – Robert Tomlinson Durbin, 67, died Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2005 at his residence.
Born in Grayson County Feb. 25, 1938, he was a disabled U.S. Army veteran and a member of Rockport Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include two brothers, Joe Clayton Durbin of Clay and Jimmy Durbin of Hazel Crest, Ill. and four sisters, Karen Goff of Bremen, Deanna Cunningham of LaVergne, Tenn. and Billie Fuller and Dottie Durham, both of Beaver Dam.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Dec. 17 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Larry Isakson officiating.Burial followed in Elizabeth Cemetery in Clarkson.
James William Clemons, Sr.
James William Clemons, Sr., 69, died Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2005 at his residence.
Born in Muhlenberg County Oct. 15, 1936, he was a retired trucker.
Survivors include a son, James William Clemons, Jr. of Greenville; two daughters, Susan Clemons of Greenville and Regina Clemons of Powderly; two grandchildren; a brother, Paul Clemons, Jr. of Central City and two sisters, Helen Luke of Central City and Bonnie Noble of Frankfort.

Jeffery Lynn Adkins
OWENSBORO – Jeffery Lynn Adkins, 43, died Saturday, Dec. 10, 2005 at his residence.
Born in Sacramento Oct. 29, 1962 to Clifford and Donna Adkins of Sacramento, he worked at MPD for 17 years and was presently employed by Miles Agri Mart of Owensboro.He was of the Cumberland Presbyterian faith.
Survivors include his wife of 11 1/2 years, Karen; a son, Dalton of Owensboro; his parents; a sister, Gail Ellis of Sacramento; two brothers, Freddie Adkins of Sacramento and David Adkins of Philpot and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Dec. 14 at James H. Edgar Owen Long
ELLIOTT, ILL. – Edgar Owen Long, 72, died Friday, Dec. 9, 2005 at his residence.
Born in Todd County Jan. 20, 1935, the son of Doy Edgar Long and Zula Myrtha Cobb Long, he was a millwright at Charley Dewey Mill Wrights and he also worked as manager for Fisher Farmers Grain.He was of the Baptist faith and an Army Veteran of the Korean War.He was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter, Stephanie Long.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Eulala Mae Mayes Long; a son, Jeffery Alan Long of Paxton, Ill.; a daughter, Karen Loretta Long of Elliott, Ill.; four grandchildren and a sister, Wilma Powell of Elkton.

LEWISBURG – Nona Garrett, 87, died Saturday, Dec. 17, 2005 at her residence.
Born in Todd County Nov. 17, 1918, she was a homemaker and a member of New Harmony General Baptist Church.She was preceded in death by her husband, James Virgil Garrett and her parents, R.D. McElwain and Eddy (Burnett) McElwain.
Survivors include a son, Wendell Garrett of Lewisburg; two sisters, Alpha Joines of Evansville and Donie Sharp of Lewisburg and three grandsons, Johnny Lynn Garrett of Horse Cave and Marty Wayne Garrett and Shane Todd Garrett, both of Greenville; 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Born in Pitt County, N.C. July 10, 1938, he was a mechanic and of the Pentecostal faith.
Survivors include his mother, Mae Bell Stocks of Greenville, N.C.; two brothers, Charles Harris and Carl Harris, both of Greenville, N.C.; a sister, Mae Smith of Stokes, N.C.; his caregiver, Wanda Harris of Central City; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Jessie Elizabeth Shelton
GREENVILLE – Jessie Elizabeth Shelton, 82, died Saturday, Dec. 17, 2005 in Clarksville, Ind.
She was employed by the Poplar Grove Nursing Home and the Muhlenberg County Detention Center and was a faithful member at the First Missionary Baptist Church of Greenville.She was preceded in death by her husband, James William Shelton.
Survivors include four sons, James Reginald Shelton of Chicago, Greg W. Shelton of Louisville and Hylan L. Shelton and Steven R. Shelton, both of Greenville; three daughters, Sharon Bard of Greenville and Carolyn Ann Tidwelland Valarie Louise Curry, both of Louisville; a brother, Wilbert Frazier of Paducah; 19 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

MORGANTOWN – Nancy Marie Proctor, 85, died Sunday, Dec. 18, 2005 at Western State Nursing Facility in Hopkinsville.
Born in Butler County, the daughter of the late Ezra and Charlotte Smith Proctor, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Nellie Osborn, Mable Brock and Exie Keeton and two brothers, Paul Proctor and Rollin “B” Proctor.
Survivors include a brother, Gene Proctor of Beechmont and several nieces and nephews.

ALLEGRE – Debbie Noffsinger, 56, died Sunday, Dec. 18, 2005 at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville.
Born in Greenville Dec. 14, 1949, the daughter of the late Dalton Higgs and Robbie Gray Higgs, she worked as a title clerk for Patriot Chevrolet and was a member of Mt. Tabor Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, the Rev. Ron Noffsinger of Allegre; two sons, Christopher Patrick Noffsinger of Clarksville and Joshua Aaron Noffsinger of Elkton; a daughter, Kimberly Dawn Sivils of Cadiz; a brother, Robert Owen Higgs of Russellville; two sisters, Lynndonna White of Noblesville, Ind. and Melissa McGehee of Powderly and two grandchildren.

Tommy Vanover, Jr.
Bremen - Mr. Tommy Vanover, Jr., 70, of Bremen died Friday, January 11, 2002 at the Regional Medical Center in Madisonville.
Mr. Vanover had retired from Kentucky Utilities Company.
Survivors include his wife, Sarah Louise Vanover; two sons, Danny and Gary Vanover of Bremen; three daughters, Shirley Covington of Greenville; Shelia Melendez of Dawson Springs; and Angie Harris of Bremen; three sisters Edna McCoy and Linda Neal of Bremen and Gertie Conway of Moorman; one brother, Carlos Vanover of Bremen; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, January 14, 2002 at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City. Burial followed in Bethlehem Cemetery in Bremen.

Loretta 'Moneymaker' Dickerson
Madisonville - Mrs. Loretta Moneymaker Dickerson, 72, of Madisonville, formerly of Onton, died Monday, January 14, 2002 at the Regional Medical Center in Madisonville due to complications of cancer.
Mrs. Dickerson was born in Evansville, Indiana on December 7, 1929 to the late Charles Edward Moneymaker and the former Elizabeth Knight and one sister, Gertrude Cates. She retired from The Division of Employment Services for the State of Kentucky and was the founder and former owner of The CornucopiaHealth Food Store in Madisonville. She was a member of Onton United Methodist Church, 40 year past member of First United Methodist Church and Opal Audis Sunday School Class in Madisonville. She earned her Associate Degree from Madisonville Community College and was a member of several bridge clubs.
Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Odis (Murl) Dickerson; four sons, Eddie Dickerson (Lisa) of Nashville, Tn., Jerry Dickerson of Madisonville, Danny Dickerson (Cindy) of Madisonville and Brian Dickerson (Buffy) of White Bluff, Tn.; six grandchildren; and three sisters, Christine Ashley of Smyrna, Tn., Nellie (Tab) Deason of Smyrna, Tn. and Emojean Fridy Pennington of Onton, Ky.
The body was cremated and agraveside service was held Friday, January 18, 2002 at Onton Cemetery in Onton with Reverend Billy Raby and Reverend Les Chapman officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army.
Lois Marie Rickard
Central City - Ms. Lois Marie Rickard, 90, of Noblesville, Indiana, formerly of Central City died Tuesday, January 15, 2002 at Riverview Hospital in Noblesville, Indiana.
Ms. Rickard was born in Moorman on April 29, 1911. She was a retired upholstery shop owner and a member of God of Prophecy in Central City.
Survivors include one son, Joe A. Rickard of Noblesville, In.; 10 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and one sister, Purvy Mascello of Chicago, Illinois.
Funeral services were held Saturday, January 19, 2002 at Tucker Funeral Home with Reverend Arnold Harper officiating. Burial followed in Gish Cemetery in Bremen.
Carl E. Patterson
Sacramento - Mr. Carl E. Patterson, 67, of Sacramento died Tuesday, January 15, 2002 at Methodist Hospital in Henderson.
Mr. Patterson was born in McLean County on May 2, 1934. He was a millwright in construction. He was a member of Sacramento Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Sacramento.
Survivors include one daughter, Debra Scott of Sacramento; one grandson; three brothers, Arthur Patterson and Herman Patterson, Jr. both of Sacramento and Delbert Patterson of California; and one sister, Mary Nell Seddon of Evansville, Indiana.
Funeral services were held Friday, January 18, 2002 at Tucker Memorial Chapel in Sacramento with Reverend Leslie Moody officiating and Reverend John Butler assisting. Burial followed in Sacramento Presbyterian Cemetery in Sacramento.
Mayme Swinney
Greenville - Ms. Mayme Swinney, 87, of Greenville died Tuesday, January 15, 2002 at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville, Tn. following a short illness.
Ms. Swinney was born in Todd County on March 24, 1914. She was a homemaker and a member of Joines Chapel General Baptist Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Pat Jackson of Greenville, Mrs. Brenda Sadler and Ms. Belina Swinney both of Trenton, Ky.; one grandson, Clint Jackson of Greenville; and one great-grandchild, Oakley Jackson of Greenville.
Funeral services were held Friday, January 18, 2002 at Joines Chapel Church with Reverend Jerry Sweeney officiating. Burial followed in Joines Chapel Cemetery.
Captola Galyen Webb
Greenville - Mrs. Captola Galyen Webb, 83, of Greenville died Wednesday, January 16, 2002 at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee after a short illness.
Mrs. Webb was born in Muhlenberg County on March 20, 1918. She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Greenville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Webb in 1989.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Shirley Hancock, Mrs. Patty Drury and Mrs. Harlene Grace all of Greenville; two sons, Mr. Bobby (Peto) Webb of Greenville and Mr. Larry Webb of Benton; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Mr. Lois Galyen of Greenville and Mr. Jimmy Galyen of Hopkinsville.
Funeral services were held Saturday, January 19, 2002 at Gary’s Funeral Home in Greenville with Reverend Phil Walton officiating and Reverend Richard Summers assisting. Burial followed in Evergreen Cemetery in Greenville.
James Leeman Phillips
Shepherdsville - Mr. James Leeman Phillips, 69, of Shepherdsville died Tuesday, January 15, 2002 at his residence.
Mr. Phillips was born in Muhlenberg County on June 7, 1932 and retired in 1982 from International Harvester after 25 years as a press operator. He was Korean War Veteran servingin the army and was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by one son, Stephen Phillips in 1957 and his parents, Erix and Opal Phillips in 1969 and 1995.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Charlene Mosby Phillips of Shepherdsville; one son, Thomas Phillips of Shepherdsville; one daughter, Deborah Phillips of Shepherdsville; one grand-daughter, Madison Phillips of Shepherdsville; three brothers, Darrell Phillips of Greenville, Grant Phillips and Roger Phillips both of White Plains; three sisters, Lillian Richey of Mt. Clemens, Mi., Willa Dean Porter of Fayettville, N.C. and Marvine McMaster of Mt. Washington, Ky.; several nieces and nephews; and two aunts, Lizzie Peterson and Mary Stanley both of Greenville.
