GREENVILLE - Henry Brown Roll, 87, of Greenville, died September 14, 2002 in Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville as a result of injuries received in an automobile accident.
Born July 12, 1915 at Paradise, Kentucky, he was retired from Kentucky Utilities Company after 42 years as a service foreman.He was a World War II Army veteran and was a member of V. F. W. Post 5478, Greenville.He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Greenville and was married to Jewell Vincent Roll for 67 years.
He is survived by one daughter, Mimi Roll of Melborne, Florida;two sons, John Roll and Mike Roll, both of Greenville;three grandchildren;and two great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held September 17 at Gary’s Funeral Home with Rev. Rob Gwaltney officiating.Burial followed in Evergreen Cemetery in Greenville.Gary’s Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Kentucky Baptist Childrens Home.
Raymond Ford “Toad” Gray
LIVERMORE - Raymond Ford “Toad” Gray, 80, died September 14, 2002 at his residence in Livermore.
Born August 5, 1922 in McLean County, he was a member of the Livermore United Methodist Church.He was an Army Veteran of World War II, a 50 year member of the Livermore Masonic Lodge #186 F. & A.M. and a 54 year member of Local #181 Operating Engineers.He formerly served as Kentucky Highway Patrol, Kentucky State Police, McLean County Sheriff and Deputy, McLean County Constable and was currently on the Livermore City Council.He was preceded in death by a son, Greg Gray on September 21, 1982;and a granddaughter, Cindy Kirtley on July 8, 2002.
Survivors include his long time companion, Sandy Evans of Livermore;three sons, Doug Kirtley of Island, Dennis Kirtley of Central City and Keith Gray of Thonotosassa, Florida;14 grandchildren;12 great grandchildren;and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held September 17 at Muster Funeral Homes, Livermore Chapel, with Rev. Tony Weaver officiating, assisted by Rev. Halqua Wilson.Burial followed in Oak Hill Cemetery in Livermore.Funeral arrangements were handled by Muster Funeral Homes.

Boyd Wiggins
HAGERSTOWN, MD - Boyd Wiggins, 86, of Hagerstown, died July 27, 2002, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Martinsburg, West Virginia.
Born November 27, 1915 in Bremen, he was the son of the late Elijah G. and Edna H. Whitmer Wiggins.He retired from Allegheny Power in 1984 after 27 years of service.He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hagerstown and a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Army Engineering Corps.He was a Pearl Harbor survivor.He was a member of Williamsport American Legion Post 202, Disabled American Veterans Ralph Tagg Chapter, Lions Club of Halfway and AARP.He was preceded in death by nine sisters and brothers.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Eileen W. Wiggins;one son, Ronald D. Wiggins of Gaithersburg, MD;and one sister, Bertie L. Abbott of Cincinnati.He was the uncle of Ruby Wilkins of Browder.
A memorial service was held at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, Hagerstown, with the Rev. Kenneth Schmidt officiating.A private burial service followed at Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown.
Paul Robert Miller
MADISONVILLE - Paul Robert Miller, 85, of Madisonville, died September 14, 2002 at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville.
Born March 21, 1917, in Hopkins County, he was the son of the late John Robert Miller and Mary Ann Rickard Miller.He was a member of Grapevine Holiness Church.He was a coal miner at Fies Mines for Island Creek Coal Company and also a member of the U.M.W.A. District #23.He was preceded in death by one son, Larry Robert Miller in 1997, one sister, Mary Dee Wiley and one brother, Bill Miller.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Anna Mae Miller of Madisonville;one daughter, Donna Bennett of Madisonville;two sons, Rickie Miller and Jason Miller, both of Madisonville;one sister, Viola Rich of Sacramento;two brothers, Clarence Ed Miller of Madisonville and Preston Miller of Detroit, Michigan;thirteen grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Calvin Walker of Greenville;three sons, Kenneth G. Walker of Greenville, Donald R. Walker of Huntsville, Alabama and Bobby G. GREENVILLE - Lauretta J. Jasper, 75, of Greenville, died at her residence on September 3, 2002.
Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on October 26, 1926, she was a homemaker and a member of New Prospect Baptist Church in Powderly.She was preceded in death by her husband, James Jasper in 1983 and one son, David Jasper in 1988.
She is survived byone son, James Jasper, Jr., one daughter, Lorraine Jasper and one grandson, David James Jasper, all of Greenville;one sister and brother-in-law, Lizie and Printis Mayes of Drakesboro and several nieces and nephews.

Earl J. Barbee, 88, of Central City, died September 3, 2002, at Belle Meade Nursing Home in Greenville.
Born in Muhlenberg County on September 8, 1913, he was a coal miner and was of the Pentecostal faith.
He is survived by four nephews, Jimmy Barbee, Jewell Barbee, Darvin Barbee and Jerry Barbee;two nieces, Retha Baize and Kaye Barbee Bivins.

MADISONVILLE - Beatrice C. Shanks, 81, of Madisonville died Monday, September 2, 2002 at Regional Medical Center.
Born in Lava Hot Springs, Idaho on January 29, 1921, she was the daughter of Thomas William Nolan, deceased,and Vera Aslett Nolan Hadley, also deceased.She was a retired bookkeeper from Baker and Hickman and from Corum Motor Company, both of Madisonville .She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph U. Shanks, on January 21, 2000 and one brother, William Thomas Nolan.
Survivors include one daughter, Lana Moore, of Madisonville;two sisters, Betty Watson of Twin Falls, Idaho and Mayme Vanderdoes of Lynchburgh, Virginia;two granddaughters, Tara Moore and Katherine Moore,and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held September 5 at Harris Funeral Home in Madisonville who was in charge of arrangements.Burial followed in Shavers Chapel Cemetery near Bremen.

GREENVILLE - Winfred Lee Thompson, 63, died September 5, 2002 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital.
Born in Muhlenberg County on July 16, 1939, he was a retired businessman and a member of Greenville First United Methodist Church.He played basketball for Kentucky Wesleyan College, 1958-1962.He was preceded in death by two brothers, Raleigh Gene Thompson and Gary Randell Thompson and by his father, Buster Thompson.
Survivors include five sons:Rodney Wayne Thompson and John Charles Thompson, both of Central City, Douglas Earl Thompson of Frankfort, James Richard Thompson of Ashland, Oregon, and foster son, Randy Hutchans of West Virginia;six grandchildren, Ashley, Jeremy, Brandi, Cody, Courtney and Jonathan;three brothers, Charles William Thompson and Richard Thompson of Greenville and John Mark Thompson of St. Marys, Georgia;and his mother, Malvina Thompson of Central City.

Born June 29, 1948 in Franklin, Tennessee, he was a self-employed welder and was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War.He was a member of Nelson Creek Missionary Baptist Church.

EVANSVILLE - Charles R. Son, 73, of Evansville died September 8, 2002 at St. Mary’s Medical Center.
He worked for Automobile Association of American (AAA) until 1994 and retired as Sales Manager after 15 years of service.He was the Manager of Town Finance in Tell City and the Assistant Manager at A & P Grocery Store in Tell City.Charles graduated from Central City High School and attended Draughan Business School in Nashville.He was a member of the First Christian Church and was a former President of Tell City Jaycees. He was named Outstanding Post Commander in the 8th District American Legion of Tell City in 1968-69.
He is survived by his wife of eighteen years, May Lou Siebe Son of Evansville;two sons, Jim and his wife, Vicki Siebe of Elberfeld, IN and Tim Siebe of Folsomville, IN;one daughter, Rhonda and her husband, Larry Stewart, of Magnolia, TX;grandchildren, Ryan and his wife, Denise Siebe, Jonathon Siebe, Stephanie, Zachary, Daniel and Bethany Stewart, Jason and Julie Conner, Ryan and Rachel Conner;great granddaughter, Allison Conner;nieces, Brenda Harris Diggs, Mary Ellen Stewart, Ann Ruff, Nancy Riley and Mary Pat Gehret;great niece Stacy Brungardt and great nephew, Scott Harris.

GREENVILLE - Kenneth Kennedy, 78, died September 6, 2002 in the Western Kentucky Veterans Center in Hanson after a lengthy illness.
Born June 7, 1924 in Muhlenberg County, he was an Army veteran of World War II and received five bronze stars and the purple heart.He was a life member of V.F.W. Post #5478, Greenville.He was a member of Mercer Baptist Church in Powderly and was a Section Forman for I.C. Railroad where he retired in 1978 after thirty years.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-six years, Nell Kennedy of Greenville;one son, Jerry (and wife, Patty) Kennedy of Powderly;one daughter, Beverly (and husband, Jimmy Don) Dickinson of Greenville, one grandson, Jason Dickinson of Greenville;one granddaughter, Cammie McIntosh of Greenville;two great grandchildren; two brothers, Earnest Kennedy of Louisville and Buell Kennedy of Greenville;one sister, Betty Peterson, of Fenton, Missouri.
