POWDERLY – Jimmy Ray Arndell, Sr., 52, died Friday, Jan. 6, 2006 in the Muhlenberg Community Hospital.
Born in Greenville, March 20, 1953, the son of Robert Wayne Arndell and Betty Ann Groves Arndell, he was of the Baptist faith and a self-employed carpenter. He was preceded in death by his father and granddaughter, Maklya Nicole Arndell.
Survivors include his wife, Vickie Kay Gamble Arndell; his mother, Betty Ann Groves Arndell of Powderly; four sons, Bobby Arndell of Bremen, Jimmy Arndell, Jr., Edwin Arndell and Jonathan Arndell, all of Powderly; a daughter, Misty Vincent of Graham; two brothers, David Arndell of Powderly and Danny Arndell, Sr. of Graham; nine grandchildren; three nephews and a niece.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Jan. 10 at Gary’s Funeral Home with the Rev. Terry Chaney officiating. Burial followed in Cherry Grove Cemetery in Weir.
John Robert Lindsey
BREMEN – John Robert Lindsey, 74, died Saturday, Jan. 7, 2006 in the Muhlenberg Community Hospital.
Born in Hopkins County Sept. 15, 1931, he was a truck driver, a member of First Apostolic Church in Bremen and a U.S. Marines veteran. He was preceded in death by two sons, Robert and Darrell Lindsey and a sister, Betty Jean Stogner.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Fielden Lindsey; four sons, Terry L. Lindsey of Hanson, Davey Lindsey of Greenville, William E. Lindsey and Thomas Lee Lindsey, both of Bremen; a daughter, Patty Evonne Reneer of Owensboro; his mother, Vera Belle Embry of Owensboro; four brothers, Joseph Lindsey of Clarksville, Tenn., Donald Lindsey of Philpot, Ben Thomas Lindsey and Charles Lindsey, both of Owensboro; 16 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Jan. 9 at Tucker Funeral Home with Bro. Larry Hamby officiating. Burial followed in Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City.
Carolyn Jean Stone
Carolyn Jean Stone, 71, died Saturday, Jan. 7, 2006 at her residence.
Born in Ohio County March 9, 1934, the daughter of the late William (Bill) and Maudie Duncan, she was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Clarence Stone; a daughter, Mary (Danny) Weiner of Central City; a son, Rick Turnmire of Louisville; a brother, Willie (Esther) Duncan of Louisville; a grandson, John Turnmire of Louisville; a granddaughter, Cathy Turnmire of Louisville; six nieces and two nephews.
Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Jan. 9 at Nelson Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Leroy Rearden officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, c/o Lanie Gardner, 401 N. Main St., Greenville, KY 42345. Tucker Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mabel Gladys Johnson
BEECHMONT – Mabel Gladys Johnson, 91, died Thursday, Jan. 5, 2006 in the Muhlenberg Community Hospital.
Born in Honaker, Va. April 24, 1914, she was a homemaker and a member of Belton-Beechmont General Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Veachel Johnson; two daughters, Shelby Reno and Dortha Lee Johnson and a son, Jewell Ray Johnson.
Survivors include four daughters, June Goff of Central City, Faye Westray of Lewisburg, Brenda Wilson of Beechmont and Vickie Mefford of Belton; a brother, Cecil Belcher of Calvert City, Ky.; six sisters, Hazel Jenkins and Judy Epley, both of Calvert City, Ky., Virginia Patterson of Little Rock, Calif., Lucille Vick of Columbia, Tenn., Wanda McPherson of Bremen and Raynell Walker of Belton; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Jan. 8 at Tucker Beechmont Funeral Home with the Rev. Leamon Mefford and the Rev. Pat Dexter officiating. Burial followed in Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City.
Guy Lee
GREENVILLE – Guy Lee, 83, died Friday, Jan. 6, 2006 in the Muhlenberg Community Hospital.
Born in Muhlenberg County Sept. 21, 1922, the son of the late John Lee and Alice Lee, he was retired from TVA, a World War II Army veteran and a member of Cave Springs Missionary Baptist Church in Greenville. He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Alton Lee, Olton Lee, Wilber Lee and Shelby Lee.
Survivors include his wife, Margie Browning Lee; a son, Ricky (Tammy) Lee of Powderly; a daughter, Sherry (Ricky) Whitney of Greenville; two brothers, J.E. Lee of Chicago and Kenneth Ray Lee of Owensboro; five grandchildren, Jennifer Brooks, Amanda Payne, Drew Lee, Justin Whitney and Jared Whitney and four great-grandchildren, Stormi Payne, Madison Payne, Zack Brigance and Keaton Whitney.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Jan. 9 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Jeff Morris and the Rev. Danny Mooneyhan officiating. Burial followed in Cave Springs Cemetery in Greenville.
Martina Louise Eaton
ROCKPORT – Martina Louise Eaton, 43, died Sunday, Jan. 8, 2006.
Born in Muhlenberg County Oct. 31, 1962, the daughter of Roy Oller and Judy Slaughter, she was a member of Browder Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Tiffany (Michael) Ford of Drakesboro and Tabitha (Shane) Epley of Greenville; a son, Scottie Flener of Greenville; her mother, Judy (Dawson) Slaughter of Rockport; her father, Roy (Linda) Oller of Powderly; her stepsister, Paula Brock of Oak Grove and a granddaughter, Makenze Ford.
Visitation will be at 11 a.m. Jan. 11. Funeral services are private. Tucker Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Raymond E. McElvain
ELK GROVE VILLAGE, ILL. Raymond E. McElvain, 68, died Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2004 at Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village, Ill.
Born in Muhlenberg County, Jan. 21, 1936, he was a retired sheet metal layout man. He was preceded in death by his father, Odie McElvain and a sister, Frieda Simonsen.
Survivors include his mother, Catherine Jones of Central City; companion, Sharon Iversen of Chicago, Ill.; three daughters, Ann Radcliffe of Rockford, Ill., Laura Gundersen of Hoffman Estates, Ill. and Stephanie Jenovai of Elk Grove Village, Ill.; two brothers, Tom McElvain of Beechmont and Gary McElvain of Dunedin, Fla.; a sister, Kay Silcox of Jellico, Tenn.; and three granddaughters.

Lucille Frymire Bailey
Lucille Frymire Bailey, 97, died Monday, Nov. 1, 2004 at Belle Meade Nursing Home in Greenville.
Born in Livingston County, April 7, 1907, she was a homemaker and a member of Grand Rivers Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Randolph Frymire, and her second husband, Marshall Bailey.
Survivors include a son, Randolph Frymire of Highland, Calif.; two daughters, Hazel Wade of Central City and Margaret Camp of Paducah; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and four great great-grandchildren.

Terry Johnson Gold
GREENVILLE Terry Johnson Gold, 68, died Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2004 at Saint Thomas Hospital in Nashville, Tenn. after a short illness.
Born in Evansville, Ind., Aug. 26, 1936, the son of the late James Vaughn Gold and Verna Mae Johnson Gold Butler, he graduated from Castle Heights Military Academy in 1955. He was a U.S. Army veteran having served in the Korean War from 1958 to 1963. He retired from Tennessee Valley Authority in 1992 after 29 years of service as supervisor in the service shop turbine group. He was a private contractor for TVA turbine group from 1992 until 2004. He was a member of the Machinist Local 2244 and served as president and union steward. He was a member of the Kentucky Colonels and the Kentucky Bikers Association since it was founded in 1999. He was also a member of H.O.G. (Harley Owners Group) for 11 years and has been riding motorcycles since 1951. His first Harley Davidson was a 1948 and he enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson Road King motorcycle and spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Lois J. Powell Gold; a son, Jimmy Gold of Greenville; a daughter, Shawn (Tim) Chappell of Greenville; three granddaughters, Brittany Gold, Woody Gold and Haley Chappell, all of Greenville; a step granddaughter, Catherine Mason Vincent of Greenville; and a step grandson, Jaxson Hunter Vincent of Greenville.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Nov. 5 at Gary’s Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Winters officiating. Burial followed in Rose Hill Cemetery in Newburgh, Ind. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital.
Dennis Wayne Anderson
BREMEN Dennis Wayne Anderson, 56, died Saturday, Nov. 6, 2004 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital.
Born in Bullitt County, Jan. 1, 1948, he was a truck driver and a plumber. He was a member of Mount Pisgah Baptist Church in Bremen and a U.S. Navy veteran. He was preceded in death by his mother, Virginia Anderson.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia Smith Anderson; his father, Martin R. (Faye) Anderson of Brandenburg; four sons, Troy Anderson of Brandenburg, Danny Jones and Billy Jones, both of Bremen; and Terry Jones of Madisonville; three daughters; Tammy Francis of Mt. Washington, Tina Anderson of Shepardsville and Tina Jones of Madisonville; three brothers, Glenn Essex and Randy Anderson, both of Brandenburg, and Jerry Anderson of Elizabethtown; 15 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Nov. 9 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Neal and the Rev. Tondra Daugherty officiating. Burial followed in Old Bethel Cemetery in Central City.
John Wesley Stirsman
OWENSBORO John Wesley Stirsman, 64, died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2004 at his residence.
A native of Greenville, born to the late Glen and Jessie Stirsman, he was a retired insurance sales representative at AIG Insurance for 38 years, receiving numerous awards. He was a member of First General Baptist Church and enjoyed attending Bridgepointe Baptist Church. He was also a member of the YMCA for 25 years. His interests were his love of his wife, children and grandchildren, and traveling, walking and helping underprivileged families. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Lawrence, Andrew, William Glenn Jr. and Leamon Earle Stirsman.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Glenda Evitts Stirsman; two daughters, Tammy (Steve) Stirsman Leach of Lexington and Gena Stirsman Boling of Owensboro; two brothers, Willie G. Stirsman of Central City and Elmon Ray Stirsman of Evansville, Ind.; three sisters, Ina Meeks of Salinas, Calif., Inez Evitts and Shirley Stirsman, both of Greenville; four grandchildren, Tyler and Tara Hagan of Lexington and Jonathan Shacklett and Bryson Boling of Owensboro; two step grandchildren, Blake Leach of Pensacola, Fla. and Arthur Leach of Hartford; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Nov. 7 at Glenn Funeral Home Chapel in Owensboro. Burial followed in Evergreen Cemetery in Greenville. Expressions of sympathy can be made as donations to the Lupus Foundation, A Christmas Wish or Bridgepointe Church.
James Clifton Davison Jr.
James Clifton Davison Jr., 81, died Thursday, Nov. 4, 2004 at his residence in Central City.
Born in Louisville, Nov. 28, 1922, he was a member of Green River General Baptist Church in Central City and a retired pipe fitter for Tennessee Valley Authority. He was also a U.S. Navy veteran having served in World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Davison and a daughter, Nancy Davison Arnett.
Survivors include a son, James Davison III of Floyd Knobbs, Ind.; two daughters, Geneva McRee of Island and Mary Wiles of Central City; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and six great great-grandchildren.

Francis Nevaline Phillips
SACRAMENTO Francis Nevaline Phillips, 89, died Sunday, Nov. 7, 2004 at Brighton Cornerstone Nursing Home in Madisonville.
Born in Hopkins County, Jan. 27, 1915, she was a homemaker and a member of Brier Creek Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Bremen.
Survivors include a son, Rodney Phillips of Sacramento; two daughters, Wanda Phillips of Shepherdsville and Wilma Harlan of Bremen; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Nov. 10 at Brier Creek Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Bremen with the Rev. Gary Whitworth officiating. SOUTH CARROLLTON Wilson Coleman Brown, 85, died Sunday, Nov. 7, 2004 at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville.
Born in Ohio County, Nov. 26, 1918, he was retired from Island Creek Coal Mines and was a member of South Carrollton United Methodist Church. He was also a veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Lorine Bullock Brown; a son, Coleman Brown of Versailles; a stepdaughter, Deloris Slinker of South Carrollton; two sisters, Jean Stevens of South Carrollton and Kay Roark of Central City; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

BREMEN Lillie Mae Skimehorn, 98, died Sunday, Nov. 7, 2004 at Belle Meade Nursing Home in Greenville.
Born in Muhlenberg County, Nov. 30, 1905, she was a housewife and a member of Neals Chapel General Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Rondle Skimehorn of Central City and William Skimehorn of Bremen; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two great great-grandchildren.

Marshell Yost Newman
BEECH CREEK Marshell Yost Newman, 86, died Sunday, Nov. 7, 2004 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital.
Born in Muhlenberg County, May 29, 1918, he was a retired coal miner and electrician. He was a member of Beech Creek Methodist Church and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include two daughters, Jimmie (Harold) Bowers of Houbstadt, Ind. and Patricia (Jimmy) Rager of Beechmont; two brothers, E.L. Newman of St. Louis, Mo. and Bobby Newman of Hammond, Ind.; a sister, Thelma Hendricks of Hammond, Ind.; five grandsons, Joseph P. Bowers, Mickey R. Bowers, Benjamin Drew (Robin) Bowers, Chad Rager and Chris Rager; and four great-grandchildren, Chase Bowers, Justin Bowers, Faith Bowers and Leighia Bowers.
