DRAKESBORO ­ Theadore Raymond Piper, 49, died Sunday, Oct. 19, 2003 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital.
Born in Muhlenberg County, Sept. 17, 1954 to Teddy Piper and Erma Smith, he was employed as a truck driver and of the Holiness faith.
Survivors include his wife, Eva Fleming Piper; two sons, Raymond Lee Piper of Beech Creek and Troy Lynn Piper of Drakesboro; a daughter, Lori Ann Piper of Beech Creek; two brothers, Bobby Earl Piper of Cleaton and Arthur Dean Piper of Bremen; three sisters, Carolyn Sue Phelps of Cleaton, Joyce Ann Saddler of Beech Creek, and Norma Jean Daugherty of Drakesboro; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Oct. 22 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Foster officiating. Burial will follow in Miller Cemetery in Cleaton. Visitation will take place at 5 p.m., Tuesday at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City.

Otis Lee Clay
LOUISVILLE ­ Otis Lee Clay, 32, formerly of Central City, died Saturday, Oct. 18, 2003 at Norton’s Hospital in Louisville.
Survivors include his mother, Zehnda Clay; his father, the Rev. Otis L. Cunningham (Janet) of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Central City; four sisters, Octavia Denise Clay, Vonda Ann Crawford, Nancy Cunningham, and Lynn Cunningham; a brother, Minister Therron M. Cunningham (Kendra).
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Oct. 25 at the Temple of Faith Baptist Church, 1703 Bicknell Ave., in Louisville. Visitation will be held from 1 to 4 p.m., Oct. 24 at Hathaway & Clark Funeral Home, 2718 Virginia Ave., and 6 to 9 p.m. at the church.

Robert L. Wood, Sr.
GREENVILLE ­ Robert L. Wood, Sr., 73, died Monday, Oct. 20, 2003 at his home after a lengthy illness.
Born in Muhlenberg County, Dec. 15, 1929, to the late Clarence Zilman Wood and Lillian Angeline Milam Wood, he was a member of First Baptist Church in Greenville. He retired in 1988 as a Lt. of Public Safety for TVA, Paradise Steam Plant after 29 years of service. He was a Muhlenberg County Deputy Sheriff for four years. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Lu Ann Wood in 1987.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Bertha Huggins Wood; two sons, Robert L. Wood, Jr. of Erin, Tenn. and John Layne Wood of Louisville; and a grandson, John David Wood of Erin, Tenn.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Oct. 22 at Gary’s Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary McAbee officiating. Burial will follow in Cherry Grove Cemetery in Weir. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., Oct. 21 and after 9 a.m., Oct. 22 also at Gary’s Funeral Home.

Imogene Higgins
ALLEGRE ­ Imogene Higgins, 87, died Monday, Oct. 20, 2003 at Jennie Stuart Medical Center in Hopkinsville of natural causes.
Born in Todd Co., June 21, 1916, to the late John Washington Dunn and Sue Antha Groves Dunn, she was a homemaker and a member of Allegre Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest E. Higgins in 1992.
Survivors include a son, Danny Higgins of Allegre; a daughter, Rita Higgins Rust of Allegre; a sister, Selma Edwards of Elkton; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Oct. 22 at Latham Funeral Home with the Rev. Neil Immel and the Rev. J.R. Craig officiating. Burial will follow in McColpin Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., Oct. 21 and after 9 a.m., Wed. at Latham Funeral Home in Elkton.

Dorothy Mae Perez
Dorothy Mae Perez, 75, of Central City, died Nov. 8, 2002, at her residence.
Born May 25, 1927 in Springville, AL, she was a homemaker and of the Catholic faith.
She is survived by two sons, Thomas Oscar (Wendy) Perez of Stokesdale, NC and John Anthony (Tricia)Tarrance of Earlville, Ill.; two daughters, Dorothy Jean Gray and Yvonne Marie (Timothy R.) Groves, both of Central City; eight grandchildren, Jess Williard Gray, Jennifer Lynn Gray, Trevor Andrew Perez, Tavia Marie Groves, Maegan Leandra Groves, Timothy Ray Groves, Jr., Cory John Tarrance and Daniel Paul Tarrance; one great-grandchild, four brothers, Eugene Hudgins of Georgia, Lawrence Hudgins of Woodriver, Ill., Gordon Hudgins of Bennettsville, SC, and Hubert Hudgins of Montgomery, Ala.; three sisters, Diana Hudgins and Gayle Hudgins, both of Georgia, and Mildred Phillips of Sylacauga, Ala.
Funeral services were private. Tucker Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Charles Wilson “Frog” Clark
Charles Wilson “Frog” Clark, 51, of Central City, died Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2002 at Owensboro Mercy Health System.
Born July 19, 1951 in Wayne County, Michigan, the son of Mr. and Mrs. George Clark, he was a member of the First Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by one brother and sister-in-law, Johnny and Gail Clark of Central City and two nephews, Zackery Clark and Jacob Clark.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 16, at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City with the Rev. Bob Lowery officiating.
Burial followed in Fairmount Cemetery in Central City. Tucker Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Glen D. Minton
BELTON - Glen D. Minton, 69, of Belton, died Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2002, at his residence.
Born May 12, 1933 in Muhlenberg County, he was of the Baptist faith and was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy. He was employed by IREW. He was preceded in death by a son, Kenny Minton, two grandchildren, Joshua and Misty; and wife, Janet.
He is survived by his companion, Ann Crick of Island; two sons, Rickey Minton of Penrod and Greg Gibson of Ill.; two daughters, Misty Minton Gunn of Belton and Denise Bell of Ill.; six grandchildren, Chelsie Brown, Ethan Brown, Greg Gibson, Dawn Gibson, Margaret Gibson and Vanessa Bell; three great grandchildren; one brother, J. W. Shellborne of Ill.; three sisters, Frances Dotson of Ill., Orine Powell and Virginia Ballard, both of Paducah.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 16, at Tucker Beechmont Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Chambers officiating. Burial followed in Riverside Cemetery. Tucker Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Joe Lear, Jr.
ELKTON - Joe Lear, Jr., 77, of Elkton, died Thursday, Nov. 14, 2002, at his residence following an illness.
Born May 24, 1925 in Muhlenberg County, he was the son of the late Joseph Allen and Pearl Groves Lear. He was a retired coal miner and a member of the United Mine Workers of America.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Beatrice Lear, of Elkton; one daughter, Wanda Williams of Elkton; and one granddaughter, Shannon Williams of Elkton.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 16, at Latham Funeral Home in Elkton with the Rev. B. A. Mercer officiating. Burial followed in Glenwood Cemetery. Latham Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Edgar C. Fulkerson
LOUISVILLE - Edgar C. Fulkerson, 78, of Louisville, died Thursday, Nov. 14, at Norton Audubon Hospital.
He was a native of Galatia, Ill., a retired employee of the Ford Motor Co., a member of Robert E. Newman VFW Post #3636 and a member of United Auto Workers Local 862. He served on the committee and was an active supporter of the Democratic party. He was preceded in death by his father, Claude H. Fulkerson, of Muhlenberg County.
He is survived by a niece and her husband, Laverne Mitchell Waldrop and Tommy Waldrop; and a nephew and his wife, George and Patricia Mitchell.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 16, at the Evergreen Mausoleum Chapel. Burial followed in Evergreen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Murray State University Foundation, 100 Nash House, Murray, KY 42071. Embry-Bosse Funeral Home in Louisville was in charge of arrangements.

Ronald Charles Curran
Ronald Charles Curran, 66, of Central City, formerly of California, died Tuesday, Nov. 12, at his residence.
Born May 2, 1936, in Cleveland, Ohio, he was of the Catholic faith and was a retired teacher.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Johnson Curran of Central City; one son, Charles Curran of Cleveland; two stepsons, John Smith and Wayne Smith, both of California; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and two brothers, Jim Curran and Puggie Curran, both of Cleveland.
Fuenral services were held Friday, Nov. 15, at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City with the Rev. Danny Epley officiating. Burial followed in Fairmount Cemetery in Central City. Tucker Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mary Greenwood
Mary Greenwood, 85, of Central City, died Nov. 14, 2002 at Blue Grass Hospital in Versailles, Ky.
Born June 15, 1917, in Logan County, she was self employed in the grocery business and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Central City. She was preceded in death by her husband, Delbert, and one grandson, John.
She is survived by two sons, Larry Greenwood of Lawrenceburg, Ky. and James Greenwood of Alvaton, Ky.; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Patty McDonald of Russellville, Jennie McDonald of Louisville and Betty McRoy of St. Louis.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Nov. 17, at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. W. R. Cook officiating. Burial followed in Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City. Tucker Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mary Stovall
NASHVILLE, TENN. - Mary Stovall, 101, died Friday, Nov. 15, 2002, at the Treveca Health Center in Nashville following a lengthy illness.
Born Oct. 8, 1901, in Paducah, she was the daughter of W. D. and Golda Tudor. She was the oldest member of Judson Baptist Church in Nashville and had worked several years for Lovemans and Rich Swartz in Nashville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gus Stovall, on May 2, 1968.
She is survived by one son, Shelby Stovall, of Valdosta, Georgia; two daughters, Marie Head and Imogene Jones, both of Nashville; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were conducted Sunday, Nov. 17, and burial followed, at Oak Grove Cemetery in Depoy with her grandsons, the Revs. Ray Carter and Patrick Jones, officiating. Gary’s Funeral Home in Greenville was in charge of arrangements.

Patsy Lee Burns
DOVER, TENN - Patsy Lee Burns, 62, of Dover, Tenn., died Saturday, Nov. 16, 2002, at her residence.
Born April 6, 1940 in Muhlenberg County, she was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith.
She is survived by her husband, Emitt Burns; two daughters, Kay Wilson of Greenville and Teressa Mabrey of Drakesboro; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; mother, Gwyndolyn Higgs of Central City; two brothers, Ronnie Higgs of Evansville and Larry Joe Higgs of Pleasant Ridge; four sisters, Mimi Harris of Grove, Okla., Sheila Huffman of Boonville, Ind., and Jamie Mehne and Candy Allega, both of Evansville.
Visitation will be at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19, at Tucker Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 20, at 11 a.m., also at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City. Burial will follow in Cherry Hill Cemetery. Tucker Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mamie Nell Sears
SHARON GROVE - Mamie Nell Sears, 83, of Sharon Grove, died of natural causes Sunday, Nov. 17, at the Medical Center of Bowling Green.
Born March 3, 1919 in Todd County, the daughter of the late Bishop and Florence Wright Stinson, she was retired from Red Kap sewing factory and was a member of Antioch Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilmer Sears, in 1979, one son, Gene Sears, in 1981, and one daughter, Anita Joe Griffith, in 1990.
She is survived by three sons, Billy Don Sears of Lewisburg, Gail Sears of Sharon Grove and Glen Sears of Russellville; two daughters, Elaine Sears Leach of Russellville and Loretta Faye Sears of the home; 17 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Nov. 19 at the Antioch Baptist Church with the Rev. Jimmy Kenner officiating. Burial followed in Gants Cemetery. Latham Funeral Home in Elkton was in charge of arrangements.

Linda Dale Maddox
POWDERLY - Linda Dale Maddox, 48, of Powderly, died Saturday, Nov. 16, 2002, at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville.
Born in Ruston, La., she was a clerk and a member of Greenville Church of Christ. She was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Air Force.
She is survived by her husband, Byron Maddox; two daughters, Vanessa Denise Maddox of Graham and Melissa Lynn Maddox of Powderly; two sons, Donald Ray Maddox and David Alan Maddox, both of Powderly; two grandchildren, Clayton Nathaniel and Wesley Scott; two brothers, Raymond Hyde of Alexandria, La. and Arnie Gene Hyde of Tioga, La.; and one sister, Pamela Kay Hyde, of Shrieveport.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Nov. 19 at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City with Byron Groves officiating. Burial followed in Memorial Gardens in Powderly. Tucker Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Charles F. “Buddy” Evitts
BEECH CREEK - Charles F. “Buddy” Evitts, 64, of Beech Creek, died Sunday, Nov. 17, 2002, at his residence.
Born Nov. 28, 1937 in Muhlenberg County, he was a retired electrician employed by Gilbraltar Coal Company and was a member of Carter Creek Baptist Church. He was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his wife, Rozella Coppage Evitts; two sons, Dale Wayne Evitts of Drakesboro and Charles Mitchell Evitts of Greenville; one daughter Pamela Jean Blake, of California; two step-sons, Lester Greer of Hartford and Donald Seaton Greer of Magan; one step-daughter, Cathy Beatty of Fordsville; six grandchildren; six step grandchildren; one great-grandchild; nine step great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Christine Vaughn and Peggy Ward, both of Greenville.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Nov. 19 at Tucker Beechmont Funeral Home with the Rev. Kevin Burden officiating, assisted by the Rev. Donnie Wilkins. Burial followed in Lewisburg Cemetery. Tucker Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
