Survivors include two nieces, one great-niece and three great-nephews.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Sept. 19 at Tucker Beechmont Funeral Home with the Rev. Steve McElvain officiating. Burial followed in Rosewood Methodist Cemetery in Rosewood.
Shirley Jane Bivins Campbell
GREENVILLE Shirley Jane Bivins Campbell, 69, died Saturday, Sept. 16, 2006, at Maple Manor Healthcare in Greenville after a lengthy illness.
Born in Greenville, Nov. 14, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Helen Huggins Bivins. She was a housekeeper for many years and was of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Lillian Holihand.
Survivors include a daughter, Stephanie Lynett Meeks of Louisville and a close friend and caregiver, Danny Word of Powderly.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sept. 18 at Gary’s Funeral Home. Burial followed in Cherry Grove Cemetery in Weir.
Dorothy Helen Garrett
Dorothy Helen Garrett, 68, died Saturday, Sept. 16, 2006, at Muhlenberg Community Hospital.
Born in Muhlenberg County Oct. 2, 1937, she was a homemaker.
Survivors include two brothers, Raymond Jewell and Charles W. Jewell, both of Central City; a sister, Delodres Jean Pearson of Clarkesville, Ind.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Sept. 19 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Ted Everly officiating. Burial followed in Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City.
Patricia Travis Eatherly
FORTH WORTH, TEX. Patricia Travis Eatherly, 67, passed away Thursday, Sept. 14, 2006, peacefully at her home after a courageous battle against ovarian and multiple myeloma cancer.
Born in Cincinnati March 25, 1939, she grew up in Owensboro. She was a graduate of Owensboro High School. She was a 36-year member and longtime Sunday school teacher at Southcliff Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Elizabeth Johnson, formerly of Ebenezer, and her father, Merle Robert Travis.
Survivors include her husband of 45 years, Charles Eugene Eatherly; three daughters, Dawn Eatherly of Dallas, Paige (Kendall) Killian and Tricia (Gideon) Davis, both of Fort Worth; two sisters, Merlene Maggini and Cindy Travis, both of Southern Calif.; and three grandchildren, Morgan and Truett Killian and Levi Davis, all of Fort Worth.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sept. 18 at Southcliff Baptist Church in Fort Worth with the Rev. Dr. Carroll Marr officiating. Burial followed in Laurel Land Memorial Park in Fort Worth.

Zadie Craft Walker
GREENVILLE Zadie Craft Walker, 97, died Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2003, at Sparks Nursing Home after a lengthy illness.
Born in Muhlenberg County Aug. 25, 1906, to the late Walter Craft and Bessie Blankenship Craft, she was a retired schoolteacher for the Muhlenberg County school system and taught at the Rowe School for eight years. She was a member of the Cherry Grove Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Melvin Walker, in 1975, and daughter, Ramona K. Walker.
Survivors include a daughter, Doris Bloss of Nashville; two sisters, Christine Lacefield and Pauline Wells, both of Greenville; a brother, Melvin Craft of Hopkinsville; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were 1 p.m., Sept. 13 at Gary’s Funeral Home with Jimmie Jenkins officiating. Burial followed in Cherry Grove Cemetery.
Lanny Irene Simmons
OWENSBORO Lanny Irene Simmons, 81, died Sunday, Sept. 7, 2003 at Owensboro Mercy Health System.
Born in Muhlenberg County Nov. 20, 1921, to the late Robert Hope and Roxie Jenkins, she was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church in Central City.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Simmons, and granddaughter, Micki Lynn Simmons.
Survivors include a son, Jim Simmons of Greensboro, N.C.; a daughter, Carolyn Mercer of Ponce Inlet, Fla.; a sister, Velma Lile of Central City; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services were 11 a.m., Sept. 11 at Tucker Funeral Home with Rev. W. R. Cook officiating. Burial followed in Forest Grove Cemetery.
Woodrow Crick
MADISONVILLE Woodrow Crick, 87, died Monday, Sept. 8, 2003 at Regional Medical Center.
Born in Christian County Aug. 15, 1916, to the late Ather and Eva Crick, he was a retired coal miner from Pyro Mining. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of Coles Chapel Church. Three sisters preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Corene Crick of Madisonville; two daughters, Faye Dennison of Madisonville and Carolyn Whitaker of Greenville; a sister, Dorothy Foster of Graham; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were 11 a.m., Sept. 10 at Bandy Funeral Home in Nortonville with Rev. Danny Strader officiating. Burial followed in New Salem Cemetery in Nortonville.
James William “J.W.” Brown
BREMEN James William “J.W.” Brown, 79, died Thursday, Sept. 11, 2003 at his residence.
Born in Muhlenberg County, he was retired from Green River Steel Co. as a rolling mill operator and was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mary “Frances” Gamblin Brown; two daughters, Sharon Keith and Julie Lee “Judy” Vincent, both of Bremen; three grandchildren; a step grandchild and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were 11 a.m., Sept. 13 at Tucker Funeral Home. Burial followed at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery.
Noble J. Decker
SACRAMENTO Noble J. Decker, 94, died Thursday, Sept. 11, 2003 at Riverside Manor Health Care in Calhoun.
Born in McLean County, he was a retired heavy equipment operator and farmer and a lifetime member of the New Cypress Cumberland Presbyterian Church. His wife, Eunice E. Decker preceded him in death in 2002.
Survivors include a daughter, Marilou Blanford of Owensboro; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Alice R. Aubrey
Alice R. Aubrey, 75, died Thursday, Sept. 11, 2003 at the Muhlenberg Community Hospital.
Born in Bastrop, Texas on Aug. 1, 1928, she was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church in Central City. Her husband, Sheridan Aubrey, and a daughter, Diane Aubrey, preceded her in death.
Survivors include two sons, Sheridan Aubrey Jr. of Nashville and Randall Lee Aubrey of Houston, Texas; three daughters, Lynn Graves and Sherilyn Sue Aubrey, both of Central City and Theresa Ojeda of Houston; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held 1:30 p.m., Sept. 14 at Tucker Funeral Home. Burial followed in Fairmount Cemetery.
Melvin Joshua “Short” Griggs
ELKTON Melvin Joshua “Short” Griggs, 92, died Thursday, Sept. 11, 2003 at Hearthstone Place in Elkton of natural causes.
Born in Missouri March 4, 1911 to the late Joshua and Josie Redd Griggs. He was a farmer and a member of the Elkton Church of the Nazarene. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Elizabeth Griggs in 2001; two sons, Charles “Woody” Griggs in 1977 and Melvin Griggs Jr. in 1997; and one daughter, Leona Griggs in 1937.
Survivors include a son, Terry Griggs of Elkton; a daughter, Helen Williams of Hopkinsville; 19 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren and 26 great-great- grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Sept. 14 at Latham Funeral Home with Bro. Larry Cardwell officiating. Burial followed in the Glenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Pennyrile Hospice.
Rodney Eugene Reynolds
BRADENTON, FLA. Rodney Eugene Reynolds, 68, formerly of Central City, died Friday, Sept. 12, 2003 at Blake Medical Center in Bradenton, Fla.
Born in Muhlenberg County Feb. 14, 1935, he was retired and a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Central City. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He was preceded in death by a stepson, Joe Landrum; a daughter, Elizabeth Reynolds; his wife, Patricia Reynolds and wife Margaret Reynolds.
Survivors include two sons, Donald Eugene Reynolds of Cleaton and Michael Leon Reynolds of Selmer, Tenn.; two daughters, Cynthia Jean Robertson of Bradenton, Fla. and Sandra Kay Williams of Clearwater, Fla.; three stepdaughters, Penny Majors, Rita Capps and Vickie Landrum, all of Central City; a stepson, Eddie Landrum of Central City; a sister, Joyce Ann Smith of Bradenton, Fla.; four sons-in-law; two daughters-in-law; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Sept. 16 at Tucker Funeral Home with Rev. Leroy Rearden officiating. Burial followed in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Elizabeth “Liz” Mae White
BELTON Elizabeth “Liz” Mae White, 30, died Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2003 as the result of an automobile accident.
Born July 29, 1973, she was a student at the Muhlenberg Campus Madisonville Community College and a member of Oak Forrest Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her father, Eugene White and paternal grandparents, Odell and Elizabeth White.
Survivors include two daughters, Amber and Brittany Dukes, both of Belton; her mother, Treva (Hunt) White of Lewisburg; her fiancé, Michael Gormley; a sister, Delania Powell of Lewisburg; and maternal grandparents, Alex and Allie Hunt of Lewisburg.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Sept. 11 at Price Funeral Home Inc. with Rev. Mickey McPherson and Rev. Morris Fuller officiating. Burial followed in the Lewisburg Cemetery in Logan County.
Lawrence Coleman “Tob” Davis
SACRAMENTO Lawrence Coleman “Tob” Davis, 81, died Sunday, Sept. 14, 2003 at his residence.
Born in McLean County, Nov. 5, 1921, he was a retired farmer and retired from the State Highway Department. He was a member of Poplar Grove Cumberland Presbyterian Church and the Sacramento Masonic Lodge #735 F and AM, as well as a veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Marie Ellis Davis.
Survivors include two sons, Lawrence Eugene Davis and Dynis Allen Davis, both of Sacramento; two daughters, Sherril Marie Duncan of Central City and Doris June Smiley of Madisonville; a brother, William Curtis Davis of Sacramento; two sisters, Opal Tucker and Shelly Arnett, both of Sacramento; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 17 at Tucker Memorial Chapel in Sacramento with Rev. Roy Gene Ellis officiating. Burial will follow in Poplar Grove Cemetery.
Dennis Calvin “Taterman” Latham
BREMEN - Dennis Calvin “Taterman” Latham, 88, died Monday, Sept. 15, 2003 at Regional Medical Center.
Born in Todd County, Oct. 3, 1914, he was a retired coal miner and a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Martha Jane Latham.
Survivors include his wife, Mae “Sigears” Latham; three sons, Calvin Latham of Greenville, William Latham and Merle Latham, both of Bremen; three daughters, Dorothy Jett of Benton, Bertha Sue Piper of Bremen and Helen Dennis of Sacramento; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
