Ann Pauline Maurer

GREENVILLE ­ Ann Pauline Maurer, 88, died Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2004 at the Regional Medical Center in Madisonville following a lengthy illness.
Born in Breckenridge, Mich. June 9, 1916, she was the daughter of Joseph Seckar and Appolenia Seckar. She was a homemaker, retired factory worker and of the Catholic faith.
Survivors include a daughter, Carol Jean Smith of Greenville; a brother, John Seckar of Charles City, Iowa; three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Gary’s Funeral Home was in charge of the private funeral service.

Roger Glen Bard, Sr.

GREENVILLE ­ Roger Glen Bard, Sr., 50, died Thursday, Sept. 2, 2004 at his residence after a short illness.
Born in Muhlenberg County, Jan. 21, 1954, he was the son of William Emanuel Bard and Jessie Lee Hawkins Bard. He was an operator for Texas Gas Company for 31 years and a member of New Mount Zion Baptist Church in Depoy. He was a licensed auctioneer for 20 years, a member of the Muhlenberg County Fair Board for 11 years, a member of the Muhlenberg County Children’s Fund for 12 years, a member of Duck’s Unlimited, a member of the Democratic Executive Committee and a Kentucky Colonel.
Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Linda Kay Gott Bard; a daughter, Tori Lynette Bard; two sons, Roger Glen (Brandi) Bard, Jr. and James William (Carrie) Bard, all of Greenville; five brothers, John Richard Bard of Depoy, Russell Bard, Clarence Bard, Larry Bard and Claude Bard, all of Greenville; three sisters, Imogene Phipps of Drakesboro, Phyllis Boyd of Greenville and Rita Tidwell of Depoy; an uncle, Junior Hawkins of Greenville; several aunts; three granddaughters, Chantel, Chandler and Brooklyn and a grandson, James Allen.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Sept. 4 at Second Baptist Church with the Rev. Earl Hocker and the Rev. Terrance Minor officiating. Burial followed in the Old Unity Cemetery in Graham. Gary’s Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions can be made to the Muhlenberg County Children’s Fund.

Ival M. Laster

GREENVILLE ­ Ival Mae Laster, 91, died Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2004 at the Muhlenberg Community Hospital.
Born in Muhlenberg County July 26, 1913, she was a member of Lone Star General Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray J. Laster and a daughter, Janice Faye Beck.
Survivors include two daughters, Beverly (Roger) Jenkins and Patty (Jewell) Culbertson, both of Owensboro; a sister, Maxine Davis of Owensboro; five grandchildren, Jennifer Lawrence, Tony Jenkins, Becky Trainer, Terry Culbertson and Robin Culbertson and seven great-grandchildren, Camron Harper, Lexie Harper, Bailey Jenkins, Lauren Culbertson, Amy Culbertson, Clay Culbertson and Chase Culbertson.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Sept. 4 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Tony Shanks and the Rev. Delbert Bryant officiating. Burial followed in Lone Star Cemetery.

Brownie Welborn

Brownie Welborn, 80, of Central City, died Friday, Sept. 3, 2004 at the Muhlenberg Community Hospital.
Born in Muhlenberg County, he was a retired coal miner, a member of the United Mine Workers of America and a member of the Pentecostals of Muhlenberg Church in Central City.
Survivors include his wife, Minnie Miller Welborn; four sons, Ricky Welborn, Tommy Welborn and Freddie Welborn, all of Central City and Jackie Welborn of Louisville; a daughter, Shirley Withrow of Florence; a sister, Lucille Miller of Central City; 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Sept. 5 at the Pentecostals of Muhlenberg Church with burial following in Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City. Tucker Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Cleo M. Vincent

GREENVILLE ­ Cleo Morton Vincent, 86, died Friday, Sept. 3, 2004 at Belle Meade Nursing Home.
Born in Muhlenberg County Sept. 28, 1919, he worked on the bottling line at Glenmore Distilleries in Owensboro.
Survivors include three sisters, Mara Vincent and Chauncey Hammond of Greenville and Dolores Prowse of California; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were private followed by a private burial at Greens Chapel Cemetery in Greenville. Tucker Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Nelda R. Mefford James

BOWLING GREEN ­ Nelda Ruth Mefford James, 76, formerly of Greenville, died Monday, Sept. 6, 2004 at the Greenview Regional Hospital in Bowling Green.
Born in Muhlenberg County Feb. 8, 1928, she was the daughter of Raymond Mefford and Dulcie Grubb Mefford. She was a retired elementary school teacher and a member of the Beech Creek Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Ray James and a brother, Billy Grubb Mefford.
Survivors include two step daughters, Judy Soderling of Central City and Gail Overby of Florence, Ala.; three brothers, C.W. Mefford of Drakesboro, Durwood Mefford of Owensboro and David H. Mefford of Bowling Green; four step grandchildren; nine nieces and nephews; and several great nieces and great nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sept. 8 at Gary’s Funeral Home with the Rev. David H. Mefford and Mr. Jim Mefford officiating. Burial will follow at the Muhlenberg County Memorial Gardens in Powderly. Johnson-Vaughn-Phelps Funeral Home was in charge of local arrangements. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy should go to the Nelda Mefford James Memorial Scholarship Fund at the College Heights Foundation at Western Kentucky University.

Margie H. Bruce

GREENVILLE ­ Margie Humphrey Bruce, 88, died Friday, Sept. 3 at her residence.
Born in Muhlenberg County, she was a homemaker and a member of the Mount Pisgah Baptist Church in Bremen. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Jay Bruce, two sons, Donnie Bruce and Ronnie Bruce and a daughter, Jo Ann Dexter.
Survivors include a son, Charles W. “Billy” Bruce of Greenville; a brother, Charles Humphrey of Central City; 10 grandchildren ; and 12 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Sept. 6 at Tucker Funeral Home. Burial followed at the Mount Pisgah Cemetery.

Alva Jr. Cottrell

BEECHMONT ­ Alva Jr. Cottrell, 67, died Monday, Sept. 6 at the Muhlenberg Community Hospital.
Born in Muhlenberg County Dec. 23, 1936, he was a retired barber and a member of Mud River Union General Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Laverna Cottrell; a son, Tony Cottrell of Morgantown; two daughters, Regina Martin of Morgantown and Dana Pentecost of Browder; three sisters, Virginia Cook of Newburg, Ind., Earlene Downing of Louisville and Elva Schroader of Greenville; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Sept. 8 at Mud River Union General Baptist Church with the Rev. Hobart Eaton, the Rev. Gerald Beliles and the Rev. Brian Haire officiating. Burial will follow at Mud River Union Cemetery. Tucker Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mildred Reed

Mildred Reed, 79, of Central City, died Monday, Sept. 6 at the Muhlenberg Community Hospital.
Born in Mt. Vernon, Ill. Jan. 31, 1925, to the late Edwin and Viola Beckemeyer, she was retired from Pay Less Drug Company and worked at Sanitary Cleaners for 18 years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Central City where she was in the choir for 25 years. She was preceded in death by a foster son, Bill “Bub” Phelps and a great grandson, Matthew Ryan Phelps.
Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Clayton Reed; foster daughter, Susan (Donald) Phelps Anglin of Smithland; a daughter-in-law, Sharon Liken Phelps of Beaver Dam; a sister-in-law, Mary Lee Reed of Mt. Vernon; and three grandsons, Scott (Amy) Phelps, John Phelps and Andrew Anglin.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sept. 8 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Jeff DiMatties officiating. Burial will follow at the Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Mt. Vernon, Ill. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimers Association.

Flodean Cobb Quisenberry

BRADENTON, FL ­ Flodean Cobb Quisenberry, 74, died Sunday, Aug. 27, 2006, at her home.
Born in Muhlenberg County Dec. 14, 1931, she was a retired highschool teacher and a member of First Baptist Church in Palmetto, Fla.
Survivors include her husband, Bill Quisenberry; a daughter, DeAnn Clark of Palmetto, Fla.; two granddaughters, Annette Wurst and Tiffany Clark; and two great-granddaughters, Sydney Keyes and Kristen Keyes.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Sept. 2 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Lowery officiating. Burial followed in Evergreen Cemetery in Greenville.
Expressions of sympathy can be made in the form of donations to her home in Bradenton, 1725 Manatee West, Bradenton, FL

Mildred Maria Baker
GREENVILLE ­ Mildred Maria Baker, 97, died Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2006, at her home after a short illness.
Born in Des Moines, Iowa, Sept. 21, 1908, she was the daughter of the late Adolph and Mary Blanche Hayes Heath. She was a homemaker and a member of Carter Creek Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years in 2002; a son, Ralph Edward Baker in 1994; and a daughter, Alice Marie Bowden, Aug. 8, 2006.
Survivors include three daughters, Yvonne (Virgil) Nolan of Greenville, Kathy (Grady) Winton of White Plains and Betty (Jim) Osborne of Washington state; three sons, Murray (Ruth) Baker of Crescent City, Calif., Jerry (Roselee) Klides of Elmont, Tex., and Glen (Susan) Bowden of Rouge River, Ore.; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great grandchildren; and her caregiver, Janise Marie Walker of Greenville.
Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Sept. 1 at Gary’s Funeral Home with the Rev. Kevin Burden officiating. Burial followed in Memorial Garden Cemetery in Powderly.

William Miller

William Miller, 81, died Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2006, at his home.
Born in New York Dec. 18, 1924, he was a self-employed laborer and a US Army Veteran. He received a Purple Heart in WWII. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Carl, Robert, and Charles Miller.
Survivors include his wife, Jeanette Trimarco Miller; a son, William A. Miller of Browder; a daughter, Candace L. Knight of Drakesboro; three brothers, Henry Miller of Pa., George Miller of N.Y. and Paul Miller of N.C.; three sisters, Irene Whaley of N.J., Marion Dams of N.Y. and Shirley Zeko of N.C.; three grandchildren, Christine Anderson, Barbara Nantz and Jaqueline Miller; and three great-grandchildren, Michael Anderson, Tristen Nantz and Nicole Anderson.
Burial was in Fantinekill Cemetery in Ellenville, N.Y. Tucker Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

James Lake Revelette

James Lake Revelette, 67, died Thursday, Aug. 31, 2006, at Muhlenberg Community Hospital.
Born in Muhlenberg County July 7, 1939, he was a truck driver and of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda Rager Revelette; two sons, Eddie Revelette of Benton and Jeff Revelette of Okla.; a daughter, Tammy Revelette of Benton; two step-sons, Allen Bell of Tex. and Danny Bell of Central City; four grandchildren and four step-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Sept. 2 at Fairmount Cemetery with the Rev. Danny Epley officiating. Tucker Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Jeffrey Scott Fraze

Jeffrey Scott Fraze, 44, died Sunday, Sept. 3, 2006 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital.
Born in Jeffersonville, Ind. Dec. 19, 1961, he retired from the United States Army and was a member of the VFW and the Central City National Guard having served his country for 13 years in the armed services. He was preceded in death by his parents Jerry and Sandra Fraze, grandparents Albert and Lucille Bethke and Ivan and Gladys Fraze.
Survivors include his loving companion of 14 years, Lisa Sumner; one son, Nickolas Wayne Fraze of Central City; two daughters, Sandra Fraze of Evansville and Kelly Cheri Fraze of Central City; one brother, Donald Wayne (Rose) Fraze of Monticlair, VA; one sister, Patricia (Tim) Rolley of Bremen; two step-daughters, Scarlett Sumner and Misty Sumner both of Central City; step-mother, Sylvia Fraze of Nelson Creek; one step-brother, Bobby (Kathy) Mosby of Nelson Creek; one step-sister, Gloria (Jimmy) Groves of Morgantown; six nephews and five nieces.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Sept. 6 at Tucker Funeral Home with Rev. Curtis McGehee officiating. Burial will be held in the Fairmount Cemetery.

Doris Lee Piper

Doris Lee Piper, 72, died Sunday, Sept. 3, 2006 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital.
Born in Muhlenberg County Dec. 23, 1933, she was retired from Loney Video and Tanning and a member of Second Baptist in Greenville.
Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Doyle W. Piper of Greenville; one son, Doyle W. Piper, Jr. of Greenville; one daughter, Gayra Lee Piper of Greenville; three grandchildren, Joshua and Sierra Piper and O.J. Spoon and wife Wendy; one great-grandchild, Alexie Spoon; mother, Naomi Ruth Bruce of Central City; two brothers, Michael Bruce and Billy Bruce both of Chicago; three sisters, Patsy Leach of Central City, Linda Sosa of Indiana and Sandra Blankenship of Chicago.
Funeral services will be held 12 noon Sept. 7 at Tucker Funeral Home with Rev. Ernest Bean

Audrey D. Watkins

EVANSVILLE - Audrey D. Watkins, 78, died Friday, Aug. 26, 2005, at her daughter’s residence with all of her children by her side.
Born in Greenville Oct. 3, 1926, she was a member of Faith Church of the Nazarene. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Lewis Watkins, her granddaughter, Tasha Pike Stuteville and two sisters, Gladys McDonald and Ozzie Settles.
Survivors include a son, Roger W. (Gail) Watkins; two daughters, Glenda D. (Bill) Lloyd and Donna S. Watkins, both of Evansville; two sisters, Bertha Weedman of Red Oak, Texas and Eunice Allen of Evansville; a brother, Edward (Peggy) Vincent of Evansville; five grandchildren, Stephanie (Rodney) Farmer, Shelley (Brian) Spears, Melissa Pike, Angela Lloyd and Drew Watkins and five great-grandchildren, Brittany Farmer, Brooke Farmer, Braden Farmer, Dylan Spears and Chelsey Spears.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Aug. 28 at Browning Funeral Home with Pastor Carl Mann II of New Horizon Fellowship Church officiating. Burial followed in Oak Grove Cemetery in Depoy. Memorial contributions may be made to Tasha House, 2807 Stringtown Rd., Evansville, IN 47711.
