BELTON ­ Mary Catherine King, 87, died Sunday, Aug. 29, 2004 at the Muhlenberg Community Hospital.
Born in Muhlenberg County Feb. 12, 1917 she was a homemaker and a member of Horton’s Chapel Church of Christ.
Survivors include a son, Jerry King of Belton; two daughters, Jonell Mallay of Shepardsville and Joyce Parrish of Russellville; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Sept. 1 at Tucker Beechmont Funeral Home with Mr. Paul Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Horton’s Chapel Cemetery in Belton. Visitation will be at 5 p.m. Aug. 31 at Tucker Beechmont Funeral Home.

Irene Jackson
DRAKESBORO ­ Irene Jackson, 96, died Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2004 at Belle Meade Nursing Home.
Born in Muhlenberg County July 8, 1908 to the late Charles Pikney DePoyster and Neelie Jane Pendley DePoyster, she was a member of the Drakesboro Baptist Church and a former restaurant owner. She was preceded in death by her husband Roy Jackson in 1977.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Aug. 27 at Drakesboro Baptist Church with the Rev. Tom Stovall officiating. Burial followed in the Ebenezer Cemetery. Gary’s Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Patsy Beth Peterson

GREENVILLE - Patsy Beth Peterson, 74, died Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2005 at her residence.
Born in Muhlenberg County June 19, 1931, she was a homemaker and a member of Greens Chapel General Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Adrian Peterson; two sons, Terry Peterson of Custer Park, Ill. and Keith Peterson of Greenville; three sisters, Linda Dukes, Janice Sandefur and Joanne Stovall, all of Greenville; four grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Aug. 26 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Ray England, the Rev. Walter Evitts and the Rev. George Thompson officiating. Burial followed in Greens Chapel Cemetery in Greenville.

Willie Ruth McGhee Williams

Willie Ruth McGhee Williams, 51, died Monday, Aug. 22 at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville.
Born in Peach County, Georgia Nov. 5, 1953, she was the daughter of Willie Mae Owens McGhee and the late Eddie McGhee, Sr. She was a retired Residential Advisor for the Earle C. Clements Job Corps in Greenville and was a member of the Shiloh Baptist Church in Fort Valley, Ga.
Survivors include her husband, the Rev. Eddie J. Williams, Jr.; a daughter, Domenique (Ricky) George; three sons, Eddie J. (Carol) Williams III of Lynnwood, Wash., Sgt. Prentice Lamont (Suzanne) Williams of Greenville and Genealdo Le’Anthony Williams of Central City; her mother; five sisters, Patricia Ann McGhee Colbert and Janice (Charles) Davis both of Ft. Valley, Ga., Deborah Turner, Connie McGhee and Cureaka McGhee (Terrell) Coleman, all of Atlanta, Ga.; four brothers, Elder Curtis (Denise) McGhee of Macon, Ga., Alton (Yvette) McGhee of Chicago, Ill., Rickey McGhee of Tacoma, Wash. and Eddie McGhee, Jr. of Ft. Valley, Ga.; two granddaughters, Nataya Williams and Nancy George; her aunts, Mattie Donaldson, Elizabeth Anthony Miller, Mattie Walker, Leola Grant, Betty Jones, Ester Ross, Louease Clark and Willie Mae Sneed; one uncle, John Owens; her father-in-law, Deacon Eddie J. Williams, Sr.; her mother-in-law, Sister Ruby Lee Anthony Williams of Arlington, Ga.; two sisters-in-law, Ruby L. Milliner Starling of Tampa, Fla. and Millie Ann (Reed) Williams of Arlington, Ga.; five brothers-in-law, Charlie C. Hodge Williams of Ft. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Aug. 25 at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Central City with the Rev. Earl C. Hocker, Jr., the Rev. Otis Cunningham and the Rev. William Nelson officiating. Burial followed in Ft. Valley, Ga. Tucker Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Yvonda Jenkins Hagmann

SACRAMENTO - Yvonda Jenkins Hagmann, 69, died Monday, Aug. 22, 2005 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital.
Born in Muhlenberg County March 19, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Elsie and Addie Mae Groves and was of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her former husband, Judge Jenkins, a son, Edward Wayne Jenkins and a brother, Attley Groves.
Survivors include her husband, Richard “Giggles” Hagmann; a daughter, Judy Piper of Bremen; a son, Douglas N. Jenkins, of Bremen; two stepsons, L. Marvin Hagmann of Norman, Okla. and Robert O. Hagmann of Kilenn, Texas; four stepdaughters, Cheryl Yvonne Belcher of Decatur, Ill. Susan Marie Hefley of Villa Grove, Ill., Peggy Ann Betncourt of Lake Fork, Ill. and Sandra Carol McQuality of Gerard, Ill.; four sisters, Bonnie Carlton of White Plains, Shirley Stanley, Joyce Stanley and Doris Crick, all of Nortonville; two brothers, Danny Groves and Raymond Groves, both of White Plains; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and 23 step grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Aug. 26 at Gary’s Funeral Home with the Rev. Bryan Haire officiating. Burial followed in Yeargins Chapel Cemetery in Graham.

Julian Ray Newton, Sr.

HOPKINSVILLE - Julian Ray Newton, Sr., 78, died Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2005 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital.
Born in Trigg County Oct. 8, 1926, he was the son of the late Edward Newton and Clemmie Mathis Newton. He was a farmer and a member of the Flat Lick Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War and received the Purple Heart. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Smith Newton in 2001 and a daughter, Linda Lavon Newton in 1974.
Survivors include four sons, Woodrow E. Benson and Francis Smith, both of Penn., Julian Ray Newton, Jr. of Todd County and Charles H. Newton of Christian County; 10 daughters, Betty Lou Davis, Barbara Ann Slacker and Beverly Jean Hoban, all of Penn., Judy Goddard of Elkton, Doris Abbott of Hopkinsville, Martha Jane Bedwell of Cumberland City, Tenn., Brenda L. Anderson of Christian County, Candy Kay Brode of Crofton and Mary M. Powell and Margaret Tucker, both of Todd County; one brother, Edward Buel Newton of Christian County; 43 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren and 3 great great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Aug. 27 at Flat Lick Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Christian County with the Rev. Will Stone, Bill Gizzard and the Rev. Ron Noffsinger officiating. Burial followed in the Flat Lick Cemetery. Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Nathaniel Austin Dunn

GRAHAM - Nathaniel Austin Dunn, 49, died Friday, Aug. 26, 2005 in Muhlenberg Community Hospital.
Born in Muhlenberg County Dec. 4, 1955, he was the son of Melvin and Mary Kathryn Dunn. He was a truck driver and of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include two sons, Austin Wayne Dunn and Melvin Ray Dunn; a daughter, Kathryn Marie Dunn, his mother, Mary Dunn Steele; a sister, Pat (Jimmie) Brewer of Greenville; four brothers, Danny (Jean) Dunn, Donald (Anitia) Dunn and Tindell Dunn, all of Greenville and Timmie (Elaine) Dunn of Hopkinsville and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Aug. 28 at Gary’s Funeral Home with the Rev. Danny Mooneyhan officiating. Burial followed in Greens Chapel Church Cemetery.

Eva Mae Davis

CADIZ-Eva Mae Davis, 74, died Sunday, Aug. 28, 2005 in Freelandville Community Home in Freelandville, Ind.
Born in Muhlenberg County June 4, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Charlie Reeves and Ruth Browning Reeves. She worked for 20 years at General Electric, six years at Peabody Coal, three years for the Army Corp of Engineers and was a member of Cave Springs Baptist Church in Greenville. She loved quilting, knitting, crocheting and was a wonderful gardener. She was preceded in death by a brother, Roscoe Reeves.
Survivors include her husband, Cecil Davis; two daughters, Linda (Dan) Kixmiller and Wilma (Fred) Robbins, both of Freelandville; a brother; two sisters and three grandchildren, Clint (Suzanne) Kixmiller of Washington, Ind. and Casey Robbins and Jessc Robbins, both of Freelandville.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Sept. 1 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Marshall Fortner officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Greenville. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Aug. 30 at Bethel United Church of Christ in Freelandville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Freelandville Community Home. McClure-Utt Funeral Home in Bicknell, Ind. was in charge of the arrangements.

Pansy Rhea Gray

GREENVILLE - Pansy Rhea Gray, 82, died Friday, Aug. 26, 2005 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital.
Born in Muhlenberg County Jan. 28, 1923, she was the daughter of the late William and Irene Durall. She was a homemaker and a member of Second Baptist Church in Greenville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lois Gray and a brother, Lyndell Durall.
Survivors include three sons, Daniel Gray of Portage, Ill., Fred Gray of Lake Mills, Wis. and Ronald Gray of Owensboro; a daughter, Pam Huff of Greenville; two brothers, Gerald Durall of New Carlile, Ohio and Whipple Durall of Weir; two sisters, Bonnie Beard of Naples, Fla. and Faye Brown of Wildwood, Fla.; nine grandchildren; four step grandchildren; one great grandchild and three step great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Aug. 29 at Tucker Funeral Home with Dr. Ray England officiating. Burial followed in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Joan M. Barnhill

CHARLESTON S.C. - Joan M. Barnhill, 74, died Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2005 at Roper Hospital in Charleston, S.C. after a valiant fight against cancer.
Born in Greenville Dec. 19, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph R. Martin. She attended the University of Kentucky, received a B.A. Degree in 1949 and was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority. After college she moved to Washington D.C. and became a junior photo editor at National Geographic. Following that, she became a homemaker, a role she enjoyed and was most proud of. As a family, they lived in Washington D.C., San Juan, Puerto Rico, Connecticut, Boston, New Hampshire and most recently she wintered in Charleston, S.C. She was a member of the Junior League, an active churchgoer, was involved in garden clubs and was a volunteer docent with the Historic Charleston Foundation in Charleston, S.C. She was active in golf at Dorado Beach Club in Puerto Rico, Chevy Chase Club in Washington D.C., Bald Peak Colony Club in New Hampshire and Yeamans Hall in Charleston, S.C. Her most rewarding time was spent with her seven grandchildren and her many friends. She was preceded in death by her sister, Louise Moore Sparks.
Survivors include her husband, J. John Barnhill; a daughter, Laura M. (Troy)
Barnhill of Ithaca, N.Y.; two sons, John D. Barnhill of Richmond, Va. and Paul M. Barnhill of Wellesley, Mass. and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Aug. 27 at the Greenville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Vernon Perdue officiating. Burial followed in Evergreen Cemetery in Greenville. Gary’s Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 102454, Atlanta, GA 30368-2454.

Louella Wells Cassels

EVANSVILLE - Louella Wells Cassels, 83, died Saturday, Aug. 27, 2005 at her daughter’s residence.
Born June 2, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Claud and Bertha Lovell. Formerly of Greenville, she was retired from Southern Sates Cooperative in Greenville and was a member of Boeke Road Baptist Church in Evansville. She taught Sunday School and was the church pianist for many years at Carter Creek Baptist Church outside of Greenville. She was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, Charlie Wells in 1975, her second husband, Claude Cassels in 1994, a daughter Joyce Lee Wells in 2001, a brother, Alton Lovell and two nephews.
Survivors include a daughter, Sandra Russ; a sister, Dathna Fleming; three grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and one nephew.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Aug. 30 at Boeke Road Baptist Church with her two grandsons, Pastor Edward Russ and Pastor Timothy Russ, officiating with participation by Jesse Knox and her great grandsons. Burial followed at Pleasant Hill Cemetery outside of Greenville. Memorial contributions may be made to Boeke Road Baptist Church Building Fund. Alexander Funeral Homes was in charge of the arrangements.

Richard Harold Avery

GREENVILLE ­ Richard Harold Avery, 74, died Monday, Aug. 21, 2006, at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville.
Born in Muhlenberg County Oct. 8, 1931, he worked for Green River Steel and was a member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, Richard Carroll Avery of Owensboro and two brothers, Doug Avery of Central City and Charles Gayle Avery of Sonoma, Calif.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Aug. 24 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Lowery officiating. Burial followed in Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City.

George Russell Kirtley

BROWDER ­ George Russell Kirtley, 45, died Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2006, at his residence.
Born in Muhlenberg County March 16, 1961, he was a laborer and a member of Browder General Baptist Church.
Survivors include his companion, Kathy Hunt of Browder; a brother, Leslie C. (Donna) Kirtley of Beechmont; two sisters, Barbara (Neal) Travis of Belton and Mary Lou (David) Lyon of Springfield, Tenn.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Aug. 25 at Tucker Beechmont Funeral Home with the Rev. Tom Carroll and Steve Perry officiating. Burial followed in Memorial Gardens in Powderly.

Marsha Lee Dunning

BEAVER DAM ­ Marsha Lee Dunning, 53, died Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2006, at Owensboro Medical Health System.
Born in Muhlenberg County Sept. 25, 1952, she was a homemaker and member of Cleaton Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Lindell Dunning; a son, Stuart Wayne Dunning of Leitchfield; a daughter, Kristen Dawn Bastin of Sacramento; a brother, Joey Whitworth of Drakesboro; a sister, Sandra Whitworth of Central City; and six grandchildren, Caleb, Sarah, Robert, Destiny, Alexia and William.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Aug. 26 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. T.H. Davis and the Rev. Timmy Camplin officiating. Burial followed in Eades Cemetery in Central City.

William Roscoe Gibson

LEWISBURG ­ William Roscoe Gibson, 82, formerly of Penrod, died Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2006, in Greenview Hospital in Bowling Green.
Born in Gus, Ky., Aug. 9, 1924, to the late Roscoe Charlie and Lydia McPherson Gibson, he was a farmer and a member of Mt. Moriah Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Lucille Brumley Gibson.
Survivors include two sons, David Gibson of Dunmor and Billy Gibson of Spring City, Tenn.; two sisters, Carolyn Sue May and Mary Carmon, both of Owensboro; a brother, Guy Maurice Gibson of Dayton, Ohio; a granddaughter; a grandson; and four great-grandsons.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Aug. 26 at Price Funeral Home, Inc., in Lewisburg with Bro. Larry Chapman officiating. Burial followed in Mt. Moriah Church of Christ Cemetery.
