Born Aug. 15, 1943 in Muhlenberg County, she was a homemaker and a member of Green River Chapel Church in Central City. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Keeling; and son, Steven Keeling.
She is survived by one daughter, Missy Holland of Central City; two grandchildren; three brothers, Thomas Chatmon of Browder, Leamon Chatmon of Evansville and Gary Chapmon of Ebenezer; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Aug. 24, at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City with the Rev. Jewell Martin officiating. Burial followed in Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City.
Stella Leola Latham
MURRAY - Stella Leola Latham, 87, of Murray, formerly of Franklin and Clifty, Ky., died Friday, Aug. 22, 2003, at Westview Nursing Home in Murray of natural causes.
Born March 16, 1916 in Muhlenberg County, the daughter of the late Andrew Jackson and Minnie Settle McGhee, she was a homemaker and a member of the First General Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Iva Latham in 1987; her son, Bernis Latham in 1988; grandson, Barry Joe Latham in 1989; and one great-grandson, Jason Latham in 1993.
She is survived by two sons, Earl Latham of Greenville and Bobby J. Latham of Jackson, Tenn.; one daughter, Wiladean Conner Estes of Murray; 15 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Aug. 24, at Latham Funeral Home in Elkton with the Rev. Brent Johnson officiating. Burial followed in the First General Baptist Church Cemetery in Russellville.
Jewel Gossett Campbell
THURMONT, MARYLAND - Jewel Gossett Campbell, 82, of Thurmont, Maryland, died Friday, Aug. 22, 2003, at the Beverly Health Care Center in Frederick, Maryland.
Born Oct. 5, 1920 in Central City, she was the daughter of the late William Hershel and Xena Blake Gossett. She was a teacher for 26 years. She was preceded in death by husband, Alonzo C. Mitchell; and husband, Jean Hampton Campbell.
She is survived by three sons, Charles Bernard Mitchell, William Ronald Mitchell and Michael Dwayne Mitchell, Sr.; one daughter, Cheryl M. Aholt; one sister, Wilma Jean Blue of Morganfield, Ky.; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Graveside services and burial were held Tuesday, Aug. 26, at Fairmount Cemetery in Central City with Father Ben Luther officiating. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the University of Maryland College of Education, College Park, Maryland or to the Western Kentucky University, College of Education, Bowling Green, Ky. Tucker Funeral Home in Central City was in charge of arrangements.
Dolly M. Owens
GREENVILLE - Dolly M. Owens, 76, of Greenville, formerly of Henderson, Owensboro and Central City, died Saturday, Aug. 23, at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Central City and attended Walnut Memorial Baptist Church Bible study class in Owensboro. She had worked at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville for 20 years as an office clerk. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Carter Owens in March of 1966.
She is survived by two sons, David Alan (Carole Ann) Owens of Central City and James B. (Carol) Owens of Greenville; one sister, Kathryn Hazelwood of Henderson; two brothers, Buckner Watson and Chester P. Watson, both of Henderson; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2003, at Rudy-Rowland Funeral Home in Henderson with the Rev. Eugene Howard officiating. Burial followed in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Henderson.
Harold Davis Alderson
GREENVILLE - Harold Davis Alderson, 89, of Greenville, died Saturday, Aug. 23, 2003, at his residence.
Born Dec. 26, 1913 in Clay, Ky., he was a member of Drakesboro Church of God. He was a retired coal miner and had worked at Caney Creek Coal Company.
He is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Monday, Aug. 25, at Tucker Beechmont Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne Dukes officiating. Burial followed in Ebenezer Cemetery.
Lanell Vincent
BREMEN - Lanell Vincent, 87, of Bremen, died Saturday, Aug. 23, at her son’s residence in Davisburg, Mich.
Born June 2, 1916 in Muhlenberg County, she was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church in Bremen. She was church pianist, Sunday School teacher and sang in the choir for many years at Mt. Pisgah.
She is survived by three sons, Gerald Vincent of Davisburg, Mich., Shelby Vincent of Houston, Texas and Douglas Vincent of Westland, Mich.; one daughter, Sharron Freeman of Harsens, Mich.; twelve grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; two brothers, Gavin Noffsinger of Atlanta, Ga. and Estil Noffsinger of Carlisle, Ky.
Visitation will be held at 5 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 26, at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 27, also at Tucker Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery in Bremen.
Margaret Jewell Revlett
OWENSBORO - Margaret Jewell Revlett, 80, of Owensboro, died Saturday, Aug. 23, 2003 at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Evansville.
Born Sept. 5, 1922 in Muhlenberg County, she was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elbert Revlett; and sister, Nita Wells.
She is survived by one son, Donald Revlett of Owensboro; two daughters, Diane Dearing of Owensboro and Delores Revlett of Hawesville; three grandchildren; two brothers, J. A. Wells of Rockville, Ind. and L. D. Wells of Clarksville, Ind.; one sister, Mary L. Gentile of Philadelphia, Pa.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Aug. 26, at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City. Burial followed in Rose Hill Cemetery, also in Central City.
Ernest Hill
NEWBURGH, IND. - Ernest Hill, 84, of Newburgh, Ind., died Sunday, Aug. 24, 2003, at his residence.
He was a member of Washington Avenue Church of Christ and a member of the VFW Post in Muhlenberg County. He was retired from Island Creek Coal Company with 40 years of service and was a veteran, having served in the South Pacific and Japan during World War II. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Self in 1997.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ruby Hill of Newburgh; daughter, Wanda Thompson Chapman of Evansville, Ind.; son, William Simmons of Evansville; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Aug. 26, at Alexander Newburgh Chapel. Burial followed in Rose Hill Cemetery in Newburgh.
John Earl Sommers Jr.
GREENVILLE - John Earl Sommers, Jr., 83, of Greenville, died Saturday, Aug. 23, 2003, at Jennie Stuart Hospital in Hopkinsville following several weeks illness.
Born Feb. 15, 1920 in Henderson, Ky., he attended First Baptist Church in Greenville. He was a coal miner and had retired from P. & M. Coal Company after 30 years and was a veteran, having served in North Africa and Italy during World War II.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Anna Mae Sommers of Greenville; one daughter, Sandra Rogles of Greenville; two grandchildren; and one brother, Charles Sommers of Greenville.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Aug. 26, at Gary’s Funeral Home in Greenville with the Rev. Gary McAbee officiating. Burial followed in Evergreen Cemetery, also in Greenville.
Trevor Wade O’Neal
LEWISBURG - Trevor Wade O’Neal, 36, of Lewisburg, died Sunday, Aug. 24, 2003, at Logan Memorial Hospital in Russellville.
Born July 22, 1967 in Kentucky, he was a member of Lewisburg Cumberland Presbyterian Church and a member of the Lewisburg Fire Department for 18 years and former assistant chief. He was a former employee of the City of Lewisburg Water Plant.
He is survived by his wife, Rhonda Jones O’Neal of Lewisburg; mother, Anita Hunt O’Neal of Lewisburg; father, Joe O’Neal of Lewisburg; one daughter, Heather O’Neal of Lewisburg; one son, Trevon O’Neal of Lewisburg; two brothers, Robbie O’Neal of Penrod and Chris O’Neal of Lewisburg; and maternal grandmother, Jewel Hunt of Penrod.
Visitation will be at 4 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 26, at Price Funeral Home in Lewisburg. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 27, also at Price Funeral Home with the Revs. Sam Romines and Bob Thurman officiating. Burial will follow in Lewisburg Cemetery.
Charles Womack Parker
GREENVILLE - Charles Womack Parker, 87, of Greenville, died Saturday, Aug. 23, 2003, at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville after a lengthy illness.
Born June 16, 1916 in Beech Creek, he was the son of James Womack Parker and Deoma O’Neal Parker and was a member of the Greenville United Methodist Church. He retired as a welder from General Motors Corporation in Flint, Mich. and he was a lifetime member of Morning Star Lodge #556 of the Masons and a member of the Muhlenberg County Amateur Radio Club. He was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army in North Africa during World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Warren Parker.
He is survived by two daughters, Marilyn Sue Parker and Diane Blackwell, both of Warrenton, Virginia; friend, Kathryn Tomes of Greenville; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Visitation will be from 6 8 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 26, and after 9 a.m. Wednesday, at Gary’s Funeral Home in Greenville. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 27, also at Gary’s Funeral Home, with the Rev. Vernon Perdue officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Greenville. Memorial contributions may be made to the Greenville United Methodist Church in Greenville.
Anna Margaret Locke
MADISONVILLE Anna Margaret Locke, 72 died Tuesday, Aug. 17, 2004 at her residence.
Born in Muhlenberg County, June 11, 1932 to the late Willie “Bill” Vincent and Dollie Calvert Vincent, she was a retired production line worker for General Electric and a member of the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by one step-grandson, Chad Harper.
Survivors include her husband of 42 years, Oscar “Lee” Locke; a step-mother, Ann Vincent of Bremen; a son, Rick Pryor; a daughter, Darlene Stokes; two step-daughters, Sandra Curneal and Sharon Locke; a step-son, Walter Locke, all of Madisonville; a brother, Donald Moore of Dawson Springs; three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, six step-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services were held at 1 p.m. Aug. 20 at the Barnett-Strother Funeral Home in Madisonville with the Rev. Chester Cannon and the Rev. Heath Harper officiating. Burial followed in the Odd Fellows Cemetery. Memorial gifts may take the form of donations to the Merle Mahr Cancer Center, First Cumberland Presbyterian Church or the Green River Hospice.
Eva H. Hoover
DIXON Eva H. Hoover, 90, died Friday, Aug. 20, 2004 at Medco Center in Henderson.
Born in Butler County, Oct. 14, 1913, she was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her husband Andrew C. Hoover and two sons, Claud Porter Hoover and Henry Curtis Hoover.
Survivors include a son, Marshall Carlisle Hoover of Madisonville; three daughters, Ruby Crick of Mortons Gap, Sarah Lovell McClain of Henderson and Betty Rigdon of Diamond, Ky.; 28 grandchildren, 81 great-grandchildren and 53 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Aug. 23 at Tucker Beechmont Funeral Home with the Rev. Leamon Mefford officiating. Burial followed at Union Ridge Cemetery in Belton.
Thomas Carl Fulkerson
BEAVER DAM Thomas Carl Fulkerson, 86, died Tuesday Aug. 17, 2004 at his residence.
Born in Ohio County, May 2, 1918 to the late Thomas King Fulkerson and Ollie Lee Downey, he was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, retired from TVA Paradise Plant and a member of Pond Run Baptist Church in Echols.
Survivors include his wife, Lorene Robinson Fulkerson; three sons, James L. Fulkerson of Hartford, Robert K. Fulkerson of Beaver Dam and Glenn D. Fulkerson of Springfield, Ky.; a daughter, Shirley Ann Barnes of Beaver Dam and 12 grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Aug. 20 at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam. Burial with military honors followed at Pond Run Cemetery in Echols.
