Survivors include his wife, Janet Harper; his mother and step-father Billie Faye and Chico Rodriguez; his father and step-mother Willie D. and Judy Harper; a daughter, Brandy (Jeffery) Bratcher; two brothers, Michael Bentancourt and Mark Bentancourt; four sisters, Martha Lavori, Becky Woods, Karen Anderson and Sharon Franklin; and 10 grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Aug. 21 at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City. Burial followed at Miller Cemetery in Cleaton.
Beatrice Louise Drake Smith
DRAKESBORO Beatrice Louise Drake Smith, 70, died Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2004 at Maple Manor Nursing Home after a lengthy illness.
Born in Muhlenberg County March 2, 1934 to the late Bivin Drake and Bertha Marie Cobb Drake, she was a homemaker and of the holiness faith. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Silva Ray Smith; two brothers, Herman Drake and Leon Drake and a sister, Marie Drake Bryant.
Survivors include a daughter, Bertha Louise Piper of Cleaton; four sons, Darrell Ray Smith, Roger Dale Smith, Bobby Joe Smith and Danny Smith, all of Drakesboro; three sisters, Dorene Hoops of Beaver Dam, Loise Cook of Owensboro and Clarabell Yates of Madisonville; four brothers, Larry Drake of Sebree, Lonnie Drake and Rosco Drake of Providence and Jerry Drake of Central City; 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Aug. 20 at Gary’s Funeral Home with the Rev. T.H. Davis officiating. Burial followed in the Wilcox Cemetery in Powderly.
Dora Lee Brown Flynn
MADISONVILLE Dora Lee Brown Flynn, 83, died Tuesday, Aug. 17, 2004 at her residence.
Born in Muhlenberg County May 22, 1921 to the late Segle Stanley and Ianthony Groves Stanley, she was a homemaker and a member of the Madison Ave. Holiness Church. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Boston Corbitt Brown; her second husband, James W. Flynn; two sisters, Elizabeth Rice and Etta Holman and two brothers, S.T. Stanley and A.Y. Stanley.
Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Lee Doyle of Madisonville; two sisters, Odell Hawkins and Enola Massey, both of Madisonville; one brother, R. D. Stanley of Slaughters; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Aug. 21 at the Barnett-Strother Funeral Home in Madisonville with Bro. George Furgerson and Bro. Billy Vincent officiating. Burial followed in the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Madisonville. Memorial gifts may take the form of donations to the Merle Mahr Cancer Center or the Green River Hospice.
Bernie Eugene Edwards
GREENVILLE Bernie Eugene Edwards, 78, died last week at his home in Greenville.
Born in Muhlenberg County Oct. 23, 1925, he was a retired hair stylist. He served in World War II and the Korean War as the youngest Chief Petty Officer in the Navy at the time. He was active in both judo and boxing. Later, he spent time in Los Angeles as a working actor. He owned his own hair salon at the Ambassador Hotel in Beverly Hills. He was a wonderful and special person, a loving father, brother and friend who will be missed terribly by his family and friends.
Survivors include a son, Blake Edwards of Chicago; three daughters, Kimberly Edwards Klytta of Park Ridge, Ill., Karen and Donna; two brothers, Douglas Edwards and Hildred Edwards, both of Powderly; three sisters, Anna Bouvia of Buff, N.Y., Marion Vincent of Central City and Carolyn Bowen of Powderly and two grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 8 p.m. Aug. 19 at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City. Burial will be in the Town of Maine Cemetery in Park Ridge, Ill
Kenneth “Jack” Jackson Weas
ALBANY, Ky. Kenneth “Jack” Jackson Weas, 70, died Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2004 at his residence.
He was a retired employee of Mosler Safe Company and a U.S. Army Veteran.
Survivors include his wife, the former Jane Edwards; three sons, Ben Weas of Charlestown, Ind., Eddie Weas of Phoenix, Ariz. and Doug Weas of Chicago; a daughter, Debbie Hailey of Gulf Shores, Ala.; two brothers, Larry Joe Weas and Lynn Weas; a sister, Cheryl Ann Boyes; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Aug. 21 at Highlands Family-Owned Funeral Home in Louisville. Burial followed at Cherry Hill Cemetery in Central City.
Essie Mae Hill Hardison
GREENVILLE Essie Mae Hill Hardison, 102, died Sunday, Aug. 22, 2004 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Born in Muhlenberg County March 2, 1902 to John Wesley Hill and Grace Caskey Hill, she was a member of the Lone Star General Baptist Church and was an employee of Muhlenberg Community Hospital for 20 years. She was preceded in death by her husband Gilbert Ray Hardison and three sons, Gilbert Junior Hardison, Walter Ray (Tootie) Hardison and Billy Hill Hardison.
Survivors include a daughter, Delvania (Bob) Johnson of Owensboro; a son, Jerry (Judy) Hardison of Glasgow; two sisters, Jessie Hale and Elizabeth Sherrod, both of Greenville; nine grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Aug. 24 at Gary’s Funeral Home with the Rev. Joe Pharris and Bob Lewis officiating. Burial followed at Lone Star Cemetery in Weir.
Daisy D. Pegues
NEWBURGH, Ind. - Daisy Dede Davidson Pegues, 90, died Sunday, August 15, 2004 at her residence at Bell Oaks Terrace.
Born in Pensacola, Fla. to Porter and Vera Davidson, she is formerly of Hopkinsville and Muhlenberg County.
Survivors include her husband of 65 years, E.G. Pegues; two daughters, Dean P. Wilson of Newburgh and Joanne Hudspeth of Atlanta; seven grandchildren, Brian Dozer, Robin (Dozer) Wheeler, Amy (Dozer) Bailey, Chris Wilson, John Hudspeth, Leigh Hudspeth and Steve Hudspeth and seven great-grandchildren.

ANDERSON, Ind. Bobby Earl Tucker, 63, died Sunday, Aug. 22, 2004 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital.
Born in Muhlenberg County Aug. 23, 1940 he was a retired concrete worker.
Survivors include a fiancé, Carol Crawford of Anderson, Ind.; a daughter, Toni Christine Humes of Anderson; a son, Bobby Earl Tucker II of Anderson; three brothers, Leon Tucker of Elkhardt, Ind., George Tucker of Central City and Terry Tucker of Rochester; a sister, Lovon Groves of Greenville and six grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Aug. 24 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Terry Groves officiating. Burial followed at Coleman Cemetery in Muhlenberg County.
Betty Lou O’Bannon
Betty Lou O’Bannon, 61, died Sunday, Aug. 22, 2004 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital.
Born in Muhlenberg County April 21, 1942 she was a homemaker and a member of Richardson General Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Ray O’Bannon and her father, Johnny Woods.
Survivors include her mother, Pearl Marie Ferguson of Greenville; two sons, Perry Ray O’Bannon and Timothy Lee O’Bannon, all of Greenville; four daughters Marie Cathers of Central City, Mary Margaret Brown of Lewisburg, Tonya Smith and Carrie Holland, both of Central City; two brothers, Tommy Woods of Greenville and Bobby Woods of Owensboro; two sisters, Thelma Hampton of Central City and Shirley Warner of Greenville; 18 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Aug. 24 at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City with the Rev. T.H. Davis and the Rev. Glenn Harper officiating. Burial followed in Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City.
Aubrey Johnston Cornette
GREENVILLE - Aubrey Johnston Cornette, 75, died Sunday, Aug. 22, 2004 at the Muhlenberg Community Hospital.
Born in Muhlenberg County Aug. 21, 1929 to Claude Allen Cornette and Eunice Carroll Johnston Cornette, he was a graduate mining engineer from the University of Kentucky in 1952, a registered professional engineer since 1958, a member of the Kentucky Professional Engineering and Surveying Registration Board from 1985 until 1993, a past registered professional land surveyor, founder and former owner of Cornette Engineering Services of Madisonville, a member of the Disciples of Christ (Christian Church), a past member of the American Institute of Mining Engineers, The Kentucky Society of Professional Engineers, The Western Kentucky Mining Institute and the Kentucky Mining Institute. He also served two years in the United States Army as a member of the Very Heavy Support Group. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Beulah Stovall Cornette.
Survivors include his wife, Bernice Genet Cornette; two daughters, Carol L. Cornette of Louisville and Fran Cornette Mosley of Greenwood, Ind.; two granddaughters, Mae Louise Mosley and B.J. Mosley; two nieces and three nephews.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Aug. 25 at Gary’s Funeral Home with the Rev. Billy Cox and the Rev. Vernon Perdue officiating. Burial will follow at the Evergreen Cemetery in Greenville. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until funeral time at 1 p.m. Aug. 25 at Gary’s Funeral Home in Greenville.
Charles E. Woodall
GRAHAM Charles E. Woodall, 95, died Sunday, Aug. 22, 2004 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital Long Term Care Facility.
Born in Muhlenberg County Oct. 31, 1908 to George William Woodall and Sarah Gossett Woodall, he was a carpenter by trade. A lifelong resident of Muhlenberg County, he served in the Civilian Conservation Corps during World War II. He was a member of the Graham Union Presbyterian Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Woodall and a son, Franklin Dean Woodall.
Survivors include two sons, Rondal (Donna) Woodall of Greenville and Harold Koon of Bremen; two sisters, Hallie (Earl) Brown and Ruby Noffsinger, both of Central City; five grandchildren, Rhonda Kay (Terry) Noffsinger, Sherry (Terry) Brown, Mark (Kim) Woodall, Kim (Chad) Clark and Krista (Ken) White; six great-grandchildren, Spenser, Chase, Baker, Hannah, Cameron and Jackson.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Aug. 25 at Gary’s Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Drury officiating. Burial will follow in the Corley’s Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Aug. 24 at Gary’s Funeral Home.
Mary Ann Booth Floyd
WESTLAND, MI - Mary Ann Booth Floyd, 46, died Thursday, Aug. 18, 2005 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor, Mich.
Born in Muhlenberg County Dec. 25, 1958, she was the daughter of the late Nancy Durham Riley and Chelsie H. Booth. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Marty Floyd; a daughter, Stacy Floyd of Westland, Mich.; a son, Matt Floyd of Westland, Mich.; her stepfather, Lon William “Billy” Riley of Sacramento; a sister, Judith Noffsinger of Alvaton, Ky.; a brother, William “Billy” Booth of Santa Monica, Calif., one grandson and several aunts and uncles.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Aug. 23 at Tucker Memorial Chapel in Sacramento with the Rev. Leslie Moody officiating. Burial followed in Station Baptist Cemetery in Sacramento.
Raymond Edward Arnold
DUNMOR - Raymond Edward Arnold, 92, died Thursday, Aug. 18, 2005 at his residence.
Born in Butler County Feb. 7, 1913, he was the son of the late Alvin Radio Arnold and Bessie Elizabeth Johnson Arnold. He was a veteran of World War II and a retired laborer from Hinton Lumber Company. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Elizabeth Latham Arnold.
Survivors include two sons, Lee Arnold of Lewisburg and James Arnold of Dunmor; three sisters, Lilliam McMillian, Evaline Wallace and Lula Latham, all of Dunmor; four grandchildren; one step-grandchild; five great-grandchildren and three step great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Aug. 20 at Price Funeral Home in Lewisburg with Brother Kevin Daughtery officiating. Burial followed in Hughes Cemetery in Dunmor.
Estelle Greenfield
ELKTON - Estelle Greenfield, 87, died Monday, Aug. 15, 2005 at her residence of natural causes.
Born in Todd County Oct. 17, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Eva Powell Rager. She was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Tabor Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Albert Greenfield; a son, Daryl Ray Greenfield of Elkton; five sisters, Eula Mae Garrett of Greenville, Mildred Jordan, Elsie Evans, Glennie Garrett and Margie McCord, all of Hopkinsville; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Aug. 17 at Latham Funeral Home with the Rev. Ron Noffsinger and the Rev. J.R. Craig officiating. Burial followed in Glenwood Cemetery in Elkton.
Charles Edward Robinson
Charles Edward Robinson, 76, died Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2005 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital.
Born in Muhlenberg County April 23, 1929, he was a retired coal miner from Peabody Coal Company, a member of Central Masonic Lodge and the Pentecostals of Muhlenberg. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Damon Robinson and Bob Robinson.
Survivors include his wife, Willodean Logsdon Robinson; a son, Danny Jones of Beechmont; a daughter, Marilyn Woodruff of Beech Creek; a sister, Helen Vaught Hendricks of Graham; three grandchildren, Susie Rice of Beech Creek, Kim Yonts and Dana Shutt, both of Beechmont and six great-grandchildren, Taylor, Jenna, Brescia, Jessica, Madelyn and Hannah.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Aug. 19 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Mac Robinson officiating. Burial followed in Fairmount Cemetery in Central City.
Randall Ray Walker
MARION - Randall Ray Walker, 85, died Monday, Aug. 15, 2005 at Crittenden County Health and Rehab Center.
Born in Marion Jan. 31, 1920, he was the son of the late Leslie and Elva Hill Walker. He was a member of Marion Baptist Church and an Army veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Janis Highfil and a brother.
Survivors include his wife, Connie Walker; a son, Daryl Walker of Powderly; a brother, Eugene Walker of Salem, Ky.; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Aug. 18 at Gilbert Funeral Home with the Rev. Darrell Clarke officiating. Burial followed in Chapel Hill Cemetery in Marion.
