Born in Muhlenberg County Aug. 22, 1945, he was the son of Wanda and Gene Luckett of Beechmont. He was a disabled veteran, having served in the United States Air Force, and a member of Country Side Baptist Church in Clearwater, Fla.
Survivors include his wife, Lisa Hamilton Spurlock; three sons, Teddy Lee Spurlock, Jr. of Morgantown, Lance Spurlock of Beaver Dam and Jarred Spurlock of Oldsmar, Fla.; two daughters, Bridgett Spurlock of Hartford and Olivia Spurlock of Oldsmar, Fla.; a brother, Tommy Spurlock of Greenville and five grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Aug. 6 at Tucker Beechmont Funeral Home with the Rev. Brian Browning officiating. Burial followed in Jackson Cemetery at Leigh’s Chapel Baptist Church in Beech Creek.

"J. V" Richey
GREENVILLE - "J. V." Richey, 73, died Thursday, Aug. 4, 2005 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital.
Born in Muhlenberg County Oct. 20, 1931, he was a coal miner, carpenter, logger and a member of New Harmony Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Odessa Gish Richey; four sons, Don (Joy) Richey of Central City, Gary (Donna) Richey, Kelly (Shannon) Richey and Jeff (Wilma) Richey, all of Bremen; a daughter, Brenda (Jeff) Schindler of Bremen; two brothers, Bobby Richey and Richard Richey, both of Bremen; a sister, Nora Mae Bruce of Versailles, Ky. and nine grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Aug. 7 at Tucker Funeral Home with Dan Yeager and the Rev. Leroy Rearden officiating. Burial followed in New Harmony Cemetery.
Thomas Patrick Chambers
CALHOUN - Thomas Patrick Chambers, 37, died Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2005 at Owensboro Medical Health System.
Born in Chicago, Ill. Nov. 27, 1967, he was the son of the late Billy G. Chambers and Francine Burden. He was a self - employed computer technician, the former owner of Digital Concepts in Owensboro, obtained a degree in Technical Science and of the Catholic faith.
Survivors include a son, Ryan Thomas Chambers; his mother and stepfather, Francine and Randall Burden of Madisonville; two brothers, Bill G. Chambers, Jr. and Shawn M. Chambers, both of Lexington; a stepbrother, David Burden of Owensboro; two sisters, Michele Ashton of Calhoun and Jennifer Chambers of Madisonville and two stepsisters, Tena Nixon of Selmer, Tenn. and Michele Allhouse of Ft. Myers, Fla.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Aug. 6 at St. Sebastian Catholic Church in Calhoun with Father Pete Hughes officiating. Burial followed in Calhoun Cemetery. Tucker Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Roger Dale Koonce
BREMEN - Roger Dale Koonce, 48, died Thursday, Aug. 4, 2005 at his residence.
Born in Cook County Sept. 19, 1956, he was the son of Herbert Sr. and Etta Margaret Koonce of Bremen. He was self - employed in the computer repair/vehicle transportation business and a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Marsha Robin Koonce; a daughter, Shannon (William) Knight of Bremen and a grandchild, Logan Knight.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Aug. 7 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Ted Everly officiating. Burial followed in Fairmount Cemetery in Central City.
Olton Lee
GREENVILLE - Olton Lee, 81, died suddenly Thursday, Aug. 4, 2005 at his residence.
Born in Weir Nov. 2, 1923, he was the son of the late John Marion Lee and Alice Marie Hardison Lee. He was a member of the Greenville Church of Christ, an Army Veteran of World War II and the Korean War in the 313th Infantry, received a Bronze Star for the Battle of Normandy and one for the African Middle Easten Theater and a life member of V.F.W. Post 5478 in Greenville. He retired in 1982 after 12 years as a U.M.W.A. coal miner for Ayr Gem Mines and was a member of the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels. He was preceded in death by a twin brother, Alton Lee and brothers, Wilburn Lee and Shelby Lee.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Betty Louise Allen Lee; a daughter, Linda Lee (Allen Ray) Wease of Fairview, Ky.; three brothers, Guy (Margie) Lee of Greenville, J.E. Lee of Chicago and Kenneth (Carolyn) Lee of Owensboro; a granddaughter, Amy Wells (Chad) Bryant of Elkton and two great - grandchildren, Taylor and Aaron Bryant of Elkton.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Aug. 7 at Gary’s Funeral Home with Mr. Johnny Kelton officiating. Burial followed in Friendship Cemetery in Greenville.
Alsie Grimes Wells
BELTON - Alsie Grimes Wells, 94, died Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2005 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital following a lengthy illness.
Born in Warren County June 20, 1911, she was the daughter of the late Emmanuel Grimes and Mary Francis Garrett Grimes. She was a homemaker and a member of the Central City Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by a great - grandson in 1978.
Survivors include her husband of 76 years, T.R. Wells, Sr.; two sons, T.R. (Linda) Wells, Jr. and Dalton L. (June) Wells, both of Belton; four sisters; a brother; four grandchildren, Lynette (Don) Cobb of Athens, Ala., Dwight Wells of Newaygo, Mich. and Kevin (LeAnn) Wells and Darlene (B.J.) Westfall, of Belton; 11 great - grandchildren and seven great - great - grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Aug. 8 at Tucker Beechmont Funeral Home with Mr. Frank Dockins and Mr. Gage Cobb officiating. Burial followed in Horton’s Chapel Cemetery.

OWENSBORO - Hope Regina Carbon, 48, died Sunday, Aug. 7, 2005 at Owensboro Medical Health System.
Born in Columbus, Ga. Oct. 17, 1956, she was the daughter of Naomi Williams of Greenville and Bob Williams of Central City.
Survivors include her husband, Eddie Carbon; a daughter, Misty Deneal Webb; a stepson, Eddie Thomas Carbon; her mother, Naomi Williams of Greenville; her father and stepmother, Bob and Donna Jean Williams of Central City and a brother, Allen Neal Williams of Central City.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Aug. 10 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. T.H. Davis and the Rev. Alan Harris officiating. Burial will follow in Gish Cemetery in Bremen. Visitation will be after 5 p.m. Aug. 9 at Tucker Funeral Home.
Betty Lynn Epley
GREENVILLE Betty Lynn Epley, 67, died Saturday, Aug. 5, 2006 at Jennie Stuart Medical Center in Hopkinsville.
Born in Muhlenberg County, March 1, 1939, she was a homemaker and member of Duvall’s Chapel General Baptist Church in Greenville. She was preceded in death by her parents, Paschal and Otha Williams Putman and two bothers, L.P. Putman and William Kenneth Putman.
Survivors include her husband of 48 years, H.C. Epley; a son, Kevin (Melissa) Epley of Central City; a daughter, Dr. Sondra Epley of Richmond, Va.; a brother, James Kelly Putman of Torrance, Calif.; a grandson, Ethan Epley and two step - grandchildren, Matthew Moore and Hannah Moore.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Aug. 8 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Curtis Yarbrough officiating. Burial followed at Green’s Chapel Cemetery in Greenville. Norma Catherine “Kitty” Locke Tomes
GREENVILLE Norma Catherine “Kitty” Locke Tomes, 59, died Friday, Aug. 4 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Born in Muhlenberg County, July 5, 1947, she was the daughter of Norman Locke and Dorothy Ann Reynolds. The families of Dorothy Reynolds and Charles Neeley were united in 1951. A 1966 graduate of Greenville High School, she worked for Jarvis, Cornette and Peyton Law Firm. She retired from TVA in 1983 and later worked at K Trucking and B & M Sales. She is remembered for her tremendous love of family and friends and as a loving wife to Jerry and a wonderful mother to her son, Cody. Kitty dedicated her life to everyone she knew or came across, always putting others first.
Survivors include her husband of nearly 40 years, Jerry Tomes; her 23 year old son, Cody Tomes of Greenville; mother - in - law, Louise Tomes of Greenville; two brothers, John Hill Neeley of Nashville and Tommy Lynn Locke of Hodgensville; four sisters, Anita Pinkston of Paducah, Claire Heineman of Yorktown, Ind., Annie Perrino of Mooresville, N.C. and Mary Locke Morris of Hodgensville and numerous nieces and nephews.

Margaret Fairchild Vincent
GREENVILLE Margaret Fairchild Vincent, 84, died Sunday, Aug. 6, 2006 at her home following a lengthy illness.
Born in Muhlenberg County, Jan. 1, 1922, she was the daughter of Newton and Annie McIntosh Fairchild. A member of Duvall’s Chapel General Baptist Church for many years, she was a devoted wife and mother. She was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed making quilts, crocheting and embroidering, tending her roses and visiting with her wonderful neighbors. She was married for 59 years to William Harold Vincent, who died June 15, 2005. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Lolla Fairchild, Lillian Fairchild, Lois Jarvis and Daisy Bigler; four brothers, Orville Fairchild, William Fairchild, Leonard Fairchild and Ray Fairchild; her first husband, Charles Duvall and a great granddaughter, Elizabeth Lynn Taylor.
Survivors include a son, Jim (Edna) Duvall of Owensboro; a daughter, Carol Taylor of Memphis; two granddaughters, Robin Dennison of Owensboro and Melissa Heffernan of Indianapolis; four grandsons, Greg Taylor and Jeff Taylor, both of Memphis, Jamie Duvall of Owensboro and Ben Duvall of Louisville; 13 great grandchildren; sister - in - law, Inez McDonald of New Cypress and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Aug. 8 at Gary’s Funeral Home with the Rev. Ken Miller officiating. Burial followed at New Cypress Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Green River Hospice.
Joanne Nelson
Joanne Nelson, 64, died Saturday, Aug. 5, 2006 at her residence.
Born in Muhlenberg County Feb. 10, 1942, she was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Wesley Nelson; a son, Michael Nelson of Hobart, Ind.; a daughter, Kimberly Krill of Chesterton, Ind.; four grandchildren and one great - grandchild.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Aug. 8 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Leroy Rearden officiating. Burial followed at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery in Bremen.
Mary “Aunt Mary” Rebecca Poyner
DUNMOR Mary “Aunt Mary” Rebecca Poyner, 97, died Friday, Aug. 4, 2006 at Russellville Health Care Manor.
Born in Dunmor May 6, 1909, she was a former school teacher for the Muhlenberg County School System. The oldest member of Dunmor Baptist Church, she was also a member of the Eastern Star and of the Retired Teachers Association. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mason Poyner; her parents, James Andrew Simmons and Heneritta Katherine Simmons and a brother, Henry Clay Simmons.
Survivors include a sister, Mildred Dorris of Dunmor and two nieces.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Aug. 7 at Price Funeral Home, Inc. in Lewisburg. Burial followed at Dunmor Cemetery in Dunmor.
Gerald “Preach” Beliles
BELTON Bro. Gerald “Preach” Beliles, 64, died Saturday, Aug. 5, 2006 at Owensboro Medical Health System.
Born in Belton Sept. 30, 1941, he was a minister for 38 years and Pastor of the Bards Hill General Baptist Church for over nine years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Moncie and Nellie Beliles of Belton.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Barbara Brumley Beliles; a son, Timothy (Heather) Beliles of Belton; two daughters, Tammy (Rodney) Good of Park City and Lori (Chris) Copas of Bowling Green; five grandchildren, Tosha (John) Whitaker of Morehead, Brandon (Hilary) Beliles of Drakesboro, Jennifer Beliles of Beech Creek and Alana and Leah Copas of Bowling Green; a great granddaughter, Harley Whitaker of Morehead; three sisters, Lavell (Jack) Cartwright of Evansville, Lavena (the late Jr.) Cottrell of Beechmont and Freda (Mike) Carter of Westmorland, Tenn. and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Aug. 7 at Tucker Beechmont Funeral Home with the Rev. T.H. Davis and the Rev. Jewell Martin officiating. Burial followed at Mud River Union Cemetery in Belton.
Robert Earl Rutledge
GREENVILLE Robert Earl Rutledge, 78, died Friday, Aug. 4, 2006 at Maple Manor Nursing Home.
Born in Tenn. May 12, 1928, he was employed by Goodyear Aero Space, a member of the Pond River Masonic Lodge in Greenville and of the Presbyterian faith.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia Somogyi; three sons, Larry Rutledge of Calif. and Robert Terry Rutledge and Allan Rutledge, both of Ohio; a daughter, Cathy Hummel of Ohio; a brother, Alvis Aaron Rutledge of Va.; two sisters, Doris Hartman of Va. and Sue Ballack of Tenn.; five grandchildren and three great - grandchildren.
Funeral services and burial were private. Tucker Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Clarence “Ed” Fentress
CALHOUN Clarence “Ed” Fentress, 74, died Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2006 at Sunny Acres Personal Care Facility in Calhoun.
Born in Muhlenberg County March 2, 1932, he was the son of the late Homer and Flora Stovall Fentress. He was a member of Calhoun Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by four brothers, W.C. “Red” Fentress, Melvin Ray Fentress, Darrell Fentress and Bobby Fentress.
Survivors include several nieces, nephews and friends at Sunny Acres.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Aug. 4 at Tucker Memorial Chapel with the Rev. J.W. Haire and Bro. Richard Sams officiating. Burial followed at Station Baptist Cemetery in McLean County.
Jewell Rich Moore
SACRAMENTO Jewell Rich Moore, 69, died Saturday, Aug. 5, 2006 at her residence.
Born in Muhlenberg County April 27, 1937, she was a homemaker and a member of Living Word Church in Central City. She was preceded in death by her husband, Goble J. Moore and a son, Larry J. Moore.
Survivors include a sister, Linda (Donald D.) Gish of Bremen; a brother, Danny Rich of Central City; two nieces, Dori S. Bruce and Dana L. Waller, both of Bremen; two nephews, Chad D. Baggett and Adam W. Gish, both of Bremen; a great - niece, Cassi S. Shadowen of Bremen; two great - nephews, Zack W. Shadowen and Joe D. Bruce, both of Bremen and a grandchild, Jordan Dukes of Lake Malone.
Funeral services were held at 12:30 p.m. Aug. 8 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Dave Rich and the Rev. Enoch Rich officiating. Burial followed in Yeargins Chapel Cemetery in Graham.
