Anna Kathleen Howerton

GREENVILLE ­ Anna Kathleen Howerton, 89, of Greenville, formerly of Louisville, died Saturday, July 29, 2006 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital.
Born in Muhlenberg County April 3, 1917, she was a retired nurse for the V.A. Medical Center in Louisville and a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. She was a member of Clifton Heights Baptist Church and was a volunteer for the United Crescent Hill Ministries, the Wayside Christian Ministries and Dare to Care. She was preceded in death by her parents, A.W. and Georgia (Gill) Howerton and a sister, Flossie Wood.
Survivors include two sisters, Dorothy Mohon and Mary B. (Bill) Martin; eight nieces and nephews ; 17 grand nieces and nephews and nine great - grand nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. (EST) Aug. 5 at the Chapel of Arch L. Heady - Cralle Funeral Home in Louisville with the Rev. Michael Galdamez officiating. Burial will follow at 1:30 p.m. (CST) at Evergreen Cemetery in Greenville. Visitation will be from 6 - 8 p.m. (EST) Aug. 4 at the funeral home.

Anna Rachel Johnson Hinderman

GLENVIEW, ILL. ­ Anna Rachel Johnson Hinderman, 81, died Wednesday, July 19, 2006 at Hampton Plaza Healthcare Centre in Glenview, Ill.
Born in Greenville Oct. 26, 1924, she was a teacher and a member of the Presbyterian Church of Glenview. She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel L. Hinderman.
Survivors include a sister, Mary Louise Pond of Fort Worth, Texas; a niece, Dr. Sharon Nations of Southlake, Texas and two nephews, Ronald W. Pond of Solana Beach, Calif. and Richard A. Pond of Houston, Texas.
Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. Aug. 2 at Evergreen Cemetery in Greenville with the Rev. Gary McAbee officiating. Tucker Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Aubrey Lee Massey
BREMEN - Aubrey Lee Massey, 53, of Bremen, died Tuesday, July 22, 2003, at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville.
He was born August 2, 1949 in Henderson County.
He is survived by two brothers, Forrest Massey of Evansville and Billy Massey of Waterloo, N.Y.
Graveside services and burial were held Thursday, July 24, at New Harmony Cemetery in Bremen. Tucker Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mary Bryant Jones

BREMEN - Mary Bryant Jones, 75, of Bremen, died Tuesday, July 22, 2003, at Jennie Stuart Medical Center in Hopkinsville.
Born April 27, 1928 in Daviess County, she was a homemaker and a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Troy Jones Jr. of Bremen; one son, Troy Wayne Jones of Central City; two daughters, Lisa Jones and Judy Conway, both of Bremen; five grandchildren; and three great - grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, July 25, at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City. Burial followed in Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City.

Robert “Bob” Belcher

HOPKINSVILLE - Robert “Bob” Belcher, 51, of Hopkinsville, died Wednesday, July 23, at his resident of natural causes.
Born Feb. 13, 1952 in Hopkinsville, he was the son of Delbert Samuel Belcher and Beverly Virginia Stepp Belcher. He was a retired coal miner and had worked at River Queen Coal Mine. He was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses and was also a member of the Wild Turkey Federation. He was preceded in death by his father, Delbert Samuel Belcher.
He is survived by his wife, Sara Jane Todd Belcher; his mother, Beverly Virginia Stepp Belcher; one son, Christopher Michael Belcher of Madison, Ind.; one daughter, Tasha Hyneman of Evansville; two brothers, William Johnny Belcher and Joseph Thomas Belcher, both of Hopkinsville; and one grandchild.
Memorial services were held at The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses with Bro. Flavis Spears officiating. The body was cremated. Hughart & Beard Funeral Homes, Inc. in Hopkinsville was in charge of arrangements.

Jonathan Lynn Smith

BREMEN - Johnathan Lynn Smith, 27, of Bremen, died Thursday, July 24, 2003, at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville.
Born July 29, 1975 in Crossville, Tenn., he was a member of Life Temple Pentecostal Church in Lewisburg. He was a welder and a member of Boiler Maker Union Local 55. He was preceded in death by his sister, Angela Renee’ Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Tonya Lynn Webster Smith; two sons, Jonathan Lynn Smith, Jr. and Isaac Levi Smith; his parents, Max and Mary Smith of Spring City, Tenn.; one brother, Leonard Smith of Dayton, Tenn.; one sister, Lisa Ann Smith of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; grandmother, Rachel Bowen of Spring City, Tenn.; and a host of friends and relatives.
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 26, at Tucker Funeral Home with the Revs. Jimmie Brindley, Paul Uzzle Jr. and Richard Phelps officiating. Burial followed in Webster Cemetery in Butler County.

Orton Ray Simmons

LIVERMORE - Orton Ray Simmons, 54, of Livermore, died Monday, July 21, 2003 at Owensboro Mercy Health System.
Born Sept. 27, 1948 in Livermore to the late Jodie and Louise Simmons, he attended Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church. He was a 1966 graduate of Livermore High School. He was employed as a correctional officer at the Green River Correctional Complex in Central City and was a former member of the Kentucky National Guard. He enjoyed spending time with his family, riding horses and hunting.
He is survived by his wife, Robin Curry Simmons; one daughter, Bridget Simmons of Livermore; one half - sister, Mildred Ray Simmons of Owensboro; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services were held Thursday, July 24, at Muster Funeral Homes, Livermore Chapel, with the Rev. Clifford Sparks officiating. Burial followed in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in McLean County. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Pleasant Hill Cemetery Fund, c/o Diane Hoover, 613 Raymond Curry Lane, Livermore, KY 42352. Louise L. Winkler

YORK, PA. - Louise L. Winkler, 96, of York, Pa., formerly of Central City, died Wednesday, July 23, 2003, at the HCR Manor Care North in York.
Born May 20, 1907 in Muhlenberg County, she was a retired elementary school teacher and had been employed by Central City Elementary School. She taught piano and was a member of the First Christian Church in Central City. She was also a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority.
She is survived by one daughter, Jean Ferrell Atherton of York; one brother, Charles Evans Lacefield of Louisville; two grandchildren; and four great - grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday, July 27, at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City. Burial followed in Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City.

Wayne H. Love Jr.

Wayne H. Love Jr., 70, died Friday, July 25, 2003, at his residence in Central City.
Born June 14, 1933 in Mason County, W. Va., he was a member of the First Christian Church in Central City. He was a retired coal miner and a veteran, having served in the Korean War. He was a member of Boilermakers Local #667 in Charleston, W. Va. and was chaplin of the Central City Masonic Lodge #673, chaplin of the Muhlenberg County Shrine Club and the Rizpah Temple in Madisonville. He was chairman of the board of the Muhlenberg County Agricultural Center and was past board member of the First Christian Church in Central City. He was also a Kentucky Colonel.
He is survived by his wife, Alberta Brewer Love of Central City; one son, Michael Hill of Greenville; one daughter, Sharon Gish of Central City; and three grandchildren.
Masonic services were held Saturday, July 26, at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City. Funeral services were held Sunday, July 27, also at Tucker Funeral Home, with the Rev. C. W. Duncan officiating. Burial followed in Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City.

Don L. Brown

OWENSBORO - Don L. Brown, 66, of Owensboro, died Thursday, July 24, 2003, at his residence.
Born Jan. 30, 1937, he was of the Baptist faith. He retired from Whirlpool Inc. after 29 years and he enjoyed hunting, dancing, playing cards, Nascar, deer hunting and motorcycle riding. He was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army. He was preceded in death by his mother, Louise Pennington on Sept. 1, 1987, and his father, W. A. Pennington on July 11, 2003.
He is survived by his long - time friend, Mildred Dillehay of Owensboro; three sons, Donald L. Brown Jr. and Donald Ray Brown, both of Owensboro, and Kenneth R Brown of Pellville; two daughters, Vicky Darlene Finley of Owensboro and Felicia Ann Wimsatt of Stanley; nine grandchildren; two great - grandchildren; one brother, Charles Ray Brown of Morehead City, N.C. and two sisters, Beverly “Goldie” Payne of Owensboro and Nancy Andrews of Port Orange, Fla.
Funeral services were held Sunday, July 27, at James H. Davis Funeral Home in Owensboro. Burial followed in Rosehill Cemetery in Owensboro. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to Hospice, 723 Harvard Dr., Owensboro, KY 42301 or First Freewill Baptist Church, 4314 5th Street Road, Owensboro, KY 42301.

Gwendella Chatmon

BROWDER - Gwendella Chatmon, 94, of Browder, died Friday, July 25, 2003, at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville.
Born Dec. 31, 1908 in Illinois, she was a member of Browder Missionary Baptist Church and was a homemaker.
She is survived by three sons, Thomas Lee Chatmon of Browder, Leamon Ray Chatmon of Evansville and Gary Wayne Chatmon of Beechmont; one daughter, Joyce Ann Keeling of Central City; 10 grandchildren; 20 great - grandchildren; and two great - great - grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday, July 27, at Tucker Beechmont Funeral Home with the Revs. Fred Harrison and Shane Garrett officiating. Burial followed in Ebenezer Cemetery in Drakesboro.

Beverly Kay Laster

GREENVILLE - Beverly Kay Laster, 48, of Greenville, died Friday, July 25, 2003, at her residence.
Born March 5, 1955, she was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church and was a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband, James Michael Laster of Greenville; three daughters, Michelle Steele of Central City, Shannon Zackery of Bremen and Felicia Snyder of Greenville; four grandchildren; two brothers, Oscar Whitaker of Powderly and Johnny Whitaker of Owensboro; and two sisters, Sue Whitaker and Debbie Baker, both of Owensboro.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 29, at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City with the Revs. Danny Epley and William Pierce officiating. Burial followed in Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City.

Robert Ellsworth Williams Sr.

BEECHMONT - Robert Ellsworth Williams Sr., 65, of Beechmont, died Saturday, July 26, 2003, at Muhlenberg Community Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Born March 8, 1938 at Ennis in Muhlenberg County, he was the son of Raymond Franklin Williams and Ruth Evelyn Mercer Williams. He graduated from Drakesboro High School in 1956. He was a retired U.M.W.A. coal miner and retired electrician with International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church and was a mason of McKinley Lodge #712 F. & A.M. of Schererville, Ind., and was a shriner of Rizpah Temple in Madisonville.
He is survived by two sons, Robert Ellsworth Williams Jr. of Nashville, Tenn. and Bruce Franklin Williams of Ashland City, Tenn.; one daughter, Susan Childs of Beechmont; five grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; three sisters, Joyce Killebrew of Hopkinsville, Ann Corley of Greenville and Fran Sears of Henderson; and special friend, Phyllis Groves of Greenville.
Visitation will be Saturday, August 2, after 9 a.m. at Gary’s Funeral Home in Greenville. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., also at Gary’s Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery in Greenville.

William David Gill

BEECH CREEK - William David Gill, 83, of Beech Creek, died Sunday, July 27, 2003, at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville.
Born May 1, 1920 in Muhlenberg County, he was a retired salvage yard operator. He was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ott and Elva Gill; three brothers, Buddy Gill, J. E. Gill and Paul Gill; and one sister, Patty Luckett.
He is survived by one brother, Glenn Gill of Beech Creek; four sisters, Lillian Brokaw of Evansville, Ind., Dorothy Whitney of Beech Creek, Jo Mauzy of Beechmont and Kay Kamuf of Owensboro; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 29, at Tucker Beechmont Funeral Home. Burial followed in Hazel Creek Cemetery in Belton.
