Born in Muhlenberg County, she was a member of First Baptist Church in Central City and was a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband, James Franklin Bivens of Central City; one son, Steve (Kathy) Bivens of Central City; three grandchildren; and one brother, Bill Morris of Deland, Fla.
Funeral services were held Monday, July 28, at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. W. R. Cook officiating. Burial followed in Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City.
John Richard McIntosh
GREENVILLE - John Richard McIntosh, 90, of Greenville, died Friday, July 25, 2003, at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville after a lengthy illness.
Born Dec. 4, 1912 in Todd County, he was the son of Richard Zephry McIntosh and Stella Mae Glenn McIntosh. He was a member of Pleasant Union General Baptist Church in Deerlick, Ky. He retired in 1975 as a carpenter after 40 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Nellie Mae McIntosh on Oct. 25, 2001.
He is survived by two sons, Alten McIntosh and Billy McIntosh, both of Hopkinsville; three daughters, Reva Benton of Beaver Dam, Barbara Wagner of Cadiz and Gayeleen Brawdy of Melbourn, Fla.; 15 grandchildren; 23 great - grandchildren; one great - great - grandchild; one brother, Frank McIntosh of Powderly; and one sister, Shirley Mihlfield of Fredricksburg, Mo.
Funeral services were held Monday, July 28, at Gary’s Funeral Home in Greenville with his grandson, Rev. Mark Benton, and Rev. J. W. Haire officiating. Burial followed in Evergreen Cemetery in Greenville.
Sister Joseph Mark Hayden
Maple Mount, Ky. - Sister Joseph Mark Hayden, 77, died Friday, July 25, 2003, at Mount Saint Joseph, Maple Mount.
A native of Fancy Farm, Ky., she was an educator for 46 years. She taught at St. Joseph School in Central City from 1973 - 75 and in many other schools in the Diocese of Owensboro, in the Archdiocese of Louisville and in New Mexico. She retired to the Motherhouse in 1986.
She is survived by a brother, William Albert Hayden of Mayfield, nieces and nephews, and the members of her religious community.
The funeral Mass was held Monday, July 28, at Mount Saint Joseph. Visitation will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday, July 29, with a wake service following at 6:30 p.m. Gifts in memory of Sister Joseph Mark Hayden may take the form of donations to the Ursuline Sisters of Mount Saint Joseph, 8001 Cummings Road, Maple Mount, KY 42345. Glenn Funeral Home of Owensboro is in charge of arrangements.
Willard “Bill” Case
ONENOTA, ALA. ? Willard “Bill” Case, 85, of Onenota, died Jan. 12, 2003, at the Ashville Nursing Home in Ashville, Ala.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Case; stepson, Carl Lee; three step - grandsons; one sister, Juanita Jackson; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Aug. 2 at Coleman Cemetery in Muhlenberg County with Dale Howard officiating.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Coleman Cemetery Fund. Gary’s Funeral Home in Greenville is in charge of arrangements.
Samuel “Sammy” Edward Lack
SHARON GROVE - Samuel “Sammy” Edward Lack, 56, of Sharon Grove died Sunday, July 27, 2003, at his residence of natural causes.
Born March 31, 1947 in Logan County, he was the son of Alma Childress Lack Coursey and the late Charles Edward “Ted” Lack. He was a logger and a member of the Antioch Baptist Church.
He is survived by his mother, Alma Childress Lack Coursey of Russellville; two sons, Tim Lack of Russellville and Josh Blackwell of Morganfield, Ky.; two daughters, Sheila Lack Alford of Russellville and Tonya Alder of Knoxville, Tenn.; three sisters, Sherry Taylor and Sandra Brock, both of Russellville and Sue Swenney of Clifty; and 10 grandchildren.
Visitation will be after 5 p.m. Tuesday, July 29, at Latham Funeral Home in Elkton. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 30, also at Latham Funeral Home with Mr. David Christmas and Rev. Jerry Swenney officiating. Burial will follow in Bivins Cemetery.
Mary Jo Bryant
FRANKLIN, KY - Mary Jo Bryant, 30, of Franklin, died Tuesday, July 22, 2003, at her residence.
A native of Simpson County, Ky., she was the daughter of the late Edward Lucas and Rebecca McCoy of Franklin.
She is survived by her husband, Shawn Bryant, of Franklin, formerly of Muhlenberg County; mother and father - in - law, Billy and Sheila Bryant of Franklin, formerly of Muhlenberg County; one brother, Andrew Lucas of Franklin; and one sister, Patty Phelps of Franklin.
Funeral services were held Friday, July 25, at Booker - Gilbert Funeral Home in Franklin. Burial followed in the Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin.
Henry Boyce Bethel
BEECHMONT - Henry Boyce Bethel, 76, of Beechmont, died Monday, July 28, 2003 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville.
Born Sept. 17, 1926 in Butler County, he was a member of Mud River Union Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Louie Bethel.
He is survived by six nieces, Nell Smith of Henderson, Patty Schneider of Evansville, Jennie Powers of Plymouth, Ind., Kay Burden of Drakesboro, Sharron Hawley of Lachine, Mich. and Kerri Nance of Frankfort; two nephews, Eldon Sumner of Rantole, Ill. and Billy Weatherford of Hammond, Ind.; and several great and great - great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 5:30 ? 9 p.m., Tuesday, July 29, at Tucker Beechmont Funeral Home. The body will lie in state at Mud River Union Church from noon Wednesday, July 30, until the funeral at 1 p.m. Burial will follow in Mud River Union Cemetery.
Knoxel Lewis Audas
LEWISBURG - Knoxel Lewis Audas , 83, of Lewisburg, died Monday, July 28, 2003, at Logan Memorial Hospital in Russellville.
Born Feb. 3, 1920, he was a laborer and had been employed by Hinton Lumber Co. He was preceded in death by his father, Issac Shelby Audas and his mother, Ethel Baugh Audas.
He is survived by his wife, Veneida Underwood Audas of Lewisburg; two daughters, Carrolyn Audas Hunt of Lewisburg and Jeanette Audas DeCourcy of Dunmor; two sons, Dwight Audas of Dunmor and Ted Audas of Benton; three grandchildren; three great - grandchildren; one great - great - grandchild; three step grandchildren; and one step great - grandchild.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, July 29, at Price Funeral Home in Lewisburg. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, July 30, also at Price Funeral Home, with the Revs. Carl Dugger, Bill Wilson and Jeremy Whitney officiating. Burial will follow in Dunmor Cemetery in Muhlenberg County.
Carolyn Ann Cottrell
Carolyn Ann Cottrell, 50, died Tuesday, July 20, 2004 at her residence in Central City.
Born in Muhlenberg County, Jan. 17, 1954, she was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include her mother, Flora Hayes of Owensboro; her husband, J.T. Cottrell Sr.; two sons, J.T. Cottrell Jr. and James Cottrell, both of Central City; four daughters, Lois Boyd, Sonja Taylor, Crystal Hurt and Kelly Cottrell, all of Central City; a stepson, Jimmy Dale Cottrell of Greenville; three brothers, Tommy Hayes of Sacramento, Danny Hayes of Beloit, Wis. and Robert Hayes of Evansville; three sisters, Glenda Shaw of Central City, Ellen Stanley of Evansville and Mary Knight of Owensboro; and 11 grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. July 22 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Gerald Jones officiating. Burial followed in Old Bethel Cemetery in Muhlenberg County.
Luther Ray Tucker
Luther Ray Tucker, 66, died Monday, July 19, 2004 at his residence in Central City.
Born in Muhlenberg County, July, 19, 1938, he was a machinist at TVA, a member of South Carrollton Baptist Church and a member of the Central City Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include his wife, Joetta Parker Tucker; a daughter, Debbie (K.G.) Reiss of New York; two step sons, Glenn Taylor Cisney of Bremen and Tony Cisney of Madisonville; four brothers, Robby and Leon Tucker of Indiana, George Edward Tucker of Central City and Terry Tucker of Drakesboro; a sister, Lavon Groves of Greenville; a grandson, Chris Wilcox of Richmond; and two step grandchildren, Lauren Nicole and Taylor Elizabeth Cisney.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. July 21 at South Carrollton Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike Neal and the Rev. Terry Groves officiating. Burial followed in Coleman Cemetery in Muhlenberg County. Tucker Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

MADISONVILLE Lennie C. Dennis, 82, died Sunday, July 18 at her residence in Madisonville.
Born in Muhlenberg County, Jan. 28, 1922, she was a retired clothing sales clerk and enjoyed genealogical research. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Dennis.
Survivors include a son, Dale Dennis of Louisville; three daughters, Cynthia Weir of Greenville, Ind., Mary Allen of Hixson, Tenn. and Anita Saulsgiver of Holister, Fla.; two brothers, William M. and Robert L. Childress of LaPorte, Ind.; six grandchildren; four great - grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. July 23 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Leroy Rearden officiating. Burial followed in Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City.
Frankie Whitaker
GREENVILLE Frankie Whitaker, 83, died Wednesday, July 21, 2004 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital following a lengthy illness.
Born in Logan County, June 12, 1921, to the late William Henry and Laura Williams Whitaker, he was a member of Bards Hill General Baptist Church and a retired farmer. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Elta Williams Whitaker.
Survivors include a daughter, Peggy Wayne of Bowling Green; a brother, Johnnie Whitaker of Shelbyville, Tenn.; a sister, Lottie Scott of Greenville; two grandchildren, Brett Wayne of Greenville and Elissa Collins of Bowling Green; and five great - grandchildren, Kaleb, Gabrielle, Madenline, Ty and Brock.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. July 24 at Bards Hill General Baptist Church with the Rev. Terry Groves officiating. Burial followed in Yeargins Chapel Cemetery. Gary’s Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Wanda Lee Newton Terry
Wanda Lee Newton Terry, 71, died Wednesday, July 21, 2004 at her residence in Central City.
Born in Hancock County, June 19, 1933, to the late Alex and Rosetta Nugent Newton, she was employed by Jerry’s Restaurant in Shelbyville and Owensboro for 11 years and at the end of her working career, for displaced homemakers in Owensboro. She was preceded in death by her husband, Byron Wilson Terry and a daughter, Mary Susan Coffman.
Survivors include three daughters, Judith Dawn Spencer of Frederick, Md., Lori Lee Rice of Greenville and Beth Lynn Farmer of Central City; two sons, Michael Gleen Terry of Owensboro and Marc Hughes Terry of Tampa, Fla.; three sisters, Mary Susan Faulkenburg of Tell City, Ind., Louetta Jarboe of Cannalton, Ind. and Carol Perkins of Memphis, Tenn.; a brother, Alex Newton of Memphis, Tenn.; 17 grandchildren; 4 great - grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. July 27 at Gary’s Funeral Home. Burial followed in Evergreen Cemetery in Greenville.
Thomas Howard Rose
BREMEN Thomas Howard Rose, 81, died Thursday, July 22, 2004 at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville.
Born in Muhlenberg County, April 21, 1923, to the late Grover and Lillie Rose, he was a retired boilermaker with local union #40 for 41 years and a faithful, active and loving member of Church Street General Baptist Church in Bremen. His favorite activity was spending time with his grandchildren and great - grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Tommie Rose and two brothers, Gene Tunney and Jack Rose.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Ruth Grundy Rose; three sons, Larry (Phyllis) Rose, Mack (Pam) Rose and Sid (Becky) Rose, all of Bremen; three sisters, Mary Bell Steele of Powderly, Margaret Krumrie of Portage, Ind. and Judy Peck of Fla.; eight grandchildren, Kelly, Tanya, Jeremy, Ashlyn, Collin, Isaac and Eli Rose and Gina Wright; three great - grandchildren, Hunter and Emma Rose and Hannah Wright.

Ruthell Lear Walker
GREENVILLE Ruthell Lear Walker, 77, died Sunday, July 25, 2004 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital following a lengthy illness.
Born in Muhlenberg County, July 9, 1927, to the late Hillard and Carrie Heltsley Lear, she was a homemaker and farmer and attended Landmark Assembly of God Church. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Patsy Bivins.
Survivors include her husband of 58 years, James Franklin Walker; a son, William Franklin Walker of Greenville; a daughter, Betsy Wells of Elkton; a brother, Thomas Lear of Elkton; eight grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.
