Vonie Kell, 79, Russell Springs, passed away Sunday, May 19 at the University of Louisville Hospital. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include one son, Joe (Judy ) Fisher, four daughters, Barbara (Kermit) Hadley, Columbia, Mitchelene (J.W.) Denton, Columbia, Cheryl (Carl) Posey and Kathy (Coy) Bray, both of Russell Springs, four brothers, Elmer Rooks, Edinburgh, IN, Raymond Rooks, Taylorsville, IN, Omar Rooks, Indianapolis, IN and Elvin Rooks, Shelbyville, IN. and nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Wednesday, May 22 in the chapel of the Bernard Funeral Home with Bro. Jim Goff and Bro. Paul Hart officiating. Special music was provided by God’s Children.
Interment was in the Providence Cemetery. Pallbearers were Eddie Fisher, Kevin Bray, Mark Hadley, Robert Knight, Clay Roy, and Paul Milligan.

Dona Jane Canada
Dona Jane Canada, 80, Russell Springs, passed away Friday, May 17 at the Liberty Care Center. She was a retired Olan Mills Chemical worker and a member Farmdale Baptist Church, Louisville.
She is survived by one son, Marty (Mary Ellen) Canada, Zanesville, OH, one daughter, Jane (Thomas) Clark, Russell Springs, six grandchildren, Mark Clark, Mike Clark, Randy Canada, Bethany Canada, Lori Canada, Jason Canada and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Wednesday, May 22 in the chapel of the Bernard Funeral Home with Bro. Joe Sullivan officiating.
Interment was in the Salem Cemetery.

Jerry Darrell Bernard
Jerry Darrell Bernard, 49, Dunnville, passed away Saturday, July 13, 2002 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center. He was a member of Thomas Ridge Christian Church.
Born in Boyle County on May 26, 1953, he is the son of Attis Bernard and Opal Roy Bernard who survive.
Other survivors are his wife, Myra Brockman Bernard; two daughters, Ashley Bernard and Nancy Luster; a son, Michael Bernard, all of Dunnville; two step sons, Robert and Billy Stanton, both of Russell Springs; a brother, Johnny Bernard, Russell Springs, and a granddaughter, Samantha Jo Luster.
Funeral services were Tuesday, July 16 at the McKinney-Brown Funeral Home, Liberty, with Bro. Clifton Cowan officiating.
Interment was in the Thomas Ridge Cemetery.

Stella Conover
Stella Conover, 84, Columbia, Ky, formerly of the Freedom Community, passed away Saturday, July 20 at the Summit Manor Nursing Home in Columbia.
She was a member of the Freedom Separate Baptist Church and a cook for the Adair County School System for 17 years.
Survivors include one daughter, Joyce (Stanley) Twyford, Russell Springs; two brothers, Arvil Roy, Columbia, KY and Sammy Roy, Columbus, IN; one sister, Marie Lucas, Columbus, IN, one granddaughter, one great grandchild and one step great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Eldon Conover.
Funeral services were Tuesday, July 23 in the chapel of the Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home with the Rev, Richie Curtis and Rev. Carlie Riggs officiating.
Interment was in the Freedom Cemetery.

Elsie Myrtle Witham
Elsie Myrtle Witham, 94, Russell Springs, passed away Monday, July 22 at the Fair Oaks Nursing Home in Jamestown, Ky. She was a homemaker and a member of the Rockhouse Christian Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Mabel Bledsoe, Columbia, KY and Linda (Roger) Cooper, Russell Springs; one brother, Wilson Bledsoe, Jamestown, KY; one sister, Opal Johnson, Russell Springs, and five grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Glen Witham and one grandson, Perry Bledsoe and a son-in-law, Ronald Bledsoe.
Funeral services were Wednesday, July 24 in the chapel of the Bernard Funeral Home with Bro. Carroll Egnew officiating. Special music was provided by Bro. Carroll and Phyllis Egnew.
Interment was in the Russell County Memorial Gardens.

Albert O. Burton
Albert O. Burton, 59, passed away Friday, July 19 at the Jewish Hospital in Louisville, KY after an illness. He was a member of the Freedom Church of God and a retired Kentucky State Police Trooper for 25 years, working out of the Columbia and Elizabethtown Post, He was also a lumber grader working for Bryant Sawmill in Columbia. He was in the U.S. Army and while serving in Germany he received the soldier of the month award and Marksman Sharpshooter medal.
He was the son of the late Robert L. and Bertha Wilson Burton of Columbia who survive.
Besides his mother, he is survived by his wife Glenna Burton, Columbia, Ky; two daughters, Gwendolyn (Dennis) McDonald, Windsor, Ky and Leah Burton, Louisville, KY; five brothers, Arnold Burton, Dellray Beach, FL, Mike Burton, Russell Springs, Jerry Burton, Columbia, KY, Danny Burton, Dunnville, KY, and Gary Wade Burton, Columbia, KY; three sisters, Brenda Beecher, Dunedin, FL, Patricia Thomas, Russell Springs, Teresa Withers, Louisville, KY; also surviving are three grandchildren, Jonathan Burton, Benjamin Burton, and Kristina Burton. Several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends survive.
He was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters, Allen Burton, Gwendolyn Burton and Carol Sue Knifely.
Funeral services were Monday, July 22 in the chapel of the Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home with the Rev. Carlie Riggs officiating.
Cazza Jane West
Cazza Jane West, 81, Fair Oaks Nursing Home, Jamestown, KY passed away Friday, September 20, 2002 at the Russell County Hospital. She was a homemaker.
She is survived by three daughters, Mary Woodcock, Campbellsville, KY, Nina Brown, Knifely, KY, and Betty Arnold, Columbia, KY; seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Willie Mae West and two sons, Leland and James West.
Funeral services were Sunday, September 22, 2002 in the chapel of H.E. Pruitt Memory Chapel with Bro. Tony Stephens officiating.
Interment was in the Jamestown City Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Joe Lutz, Larry Johnson, Bobby Helm, Bruce Bell, Drew Coffey, and Roger Chapman.

Ruby Grant Collins Hadley
Ruby Grant Collins Hadley, 79, Glensfork, KY passed away Sunday, September 15, 2002 at the Westlake Regional Hospital. She was a homemaker and a member of the Glensfork United Methodist Church. She had worked at the Lyons Uniform Factory and was a clerk at Columbia Dollar Store.
She is survived by her husband, Edward Hadley, Glensfork, KY; one son, Phillip Wayne Hadley and his wife, Alice, of Glensfork, KY; one sister, Marie Helm, Jamestown, KY, one grandson, Bruce Hadley and his wife, Lynette of Glensfork, KY; and two great grandchildren, Jordan and Mallory Hadley Glensfork, KY. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Bledsoe and Laura F. Grant.
Funeral services were Wednesday, September 18, 2002 in the chapel of the Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home with Rev Randy Johnson and Rev. Donald Upchurch.
Interment was in the Haven Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jimmy Dale Bledsoe, Kenny Neat, Larry Helm, Gene Whicker, Mike McQueary and John Ballou.
