Besides her parents, she is survived by one daughter Linda Michelle Ashbrook, Russell Springs; one son Matthew Lee Cape, Russell Springs; her step-mother, Betty Ashbrook, Russell Springs; five step brother; two step sisters; three brothers Phillip Ashbrook, Columbia, Dennis McWhorter, Jamestown and Ricky McWhorter, Russell Springs; and two sisters, Rita Campbell, Columbia and Pam Lawless, Jamestown.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 31, 1999, 10:00 a.m. at Bernard Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jeff Aaron officiating.
Burial was in Whites Chapel Cemetery.
Special singing was provided by The Singing Rexroats.
Pallbearers were: Phillip Ashbrook, Dennis McWhorter, Ricky McWhorter, Timmy George, Greg George and Randy George.

Olza Thomas
Olza Thomas, 71, Russell Springs, died Monday. August 30, 1999 at the home of her daughter.
She was born in Russell County November 22, 1927 to the late Naomi Ruth Rexroat Shepard and the late Grover Franklin Shepard.
She was a homemaker and member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ellebree Thomas and one brother Woodrow Shepard.
She is survived by two sons, Lewis Thomas and Garry Moore Thomas and his wife Patricia, both of Russell Springs; one daughter, Thelma Jean Hall and her husband Morris, Russell Springs; one brother Ollie Shepard, Cincinnati, Ohio; one sister, Naomi Thomas, Windsor, Kentucky; five grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
Services were held Thursday, September 2, 1999, 10:00 a.m .at Bernard Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Monroe Robertson officiating.
Burial was in Wilkerson Cemetery.

John R. Grider
John R. Grider, 89, Russell Springs, died Tuesday, August 27 at Russell County Hospital.
He was born in Jamestown, Kentucky to the late Rosa L. Blankenship and the late Otha B. Grider.
He was a logger and farmer and Army Veteran of World War II.
He was preceded in death by his wife Haidee Blankenship Grider and an infant son, J.R. Grider.
He is survived by three sons, Phillip Grider, Greensburg, Indiana, Gilbert Grider and Lindon Grider, both of Russell Springs; three daughters, Pauline Mann and Mary Kaye Grider, both of Jamestown, and "Peaches" Ilene Carter, Scottsville, Kentucky; two brothers, Robert Grider, Jamestown, Kentucky and Everett Grider, Franklin, Indiana; four sisters, Lola Ballenger, Russell Springs, Dorothy Ballenger, Jamestown, Agnes Kean and Tina Conner, both of Franklin, Indiana; twelve grandchildren; and eighteen great grandchildren.
Services were held Friday, July 30, 1999 at Jamestown Christian Church with Bro. James Goodin and Chris Halloway officiating.
Burial was in Ridge Crest Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Phillip Grider, Jr., Richard Wooldridge, Shayne Wooldridge, John Wooldridge, Richard Matherson, Coy Mann, Jay Grider.

Timothy "Tim" Leigh Parker
Timothy "Tim" Leigh Parker, 32, Brooksville, Florida died Tuesday, August 3, 1999 at his residence after a long illness. Born in Lexington, Kentucky, he came to the area three years ago from Russell Springs. He was a auto mechanic and a Protestant.
Survivors include three sons, Jessie, Brandon and Cody Parker, all of Brooksville; his mother Fredricka "Susan" Parker, Brooksville; his father and step-mother Howard and Annette Parker, Russell Springs; two brothers Brian Parker, Sarasota, Florida and Chad Parker, Russell Springs; and one step sister Melanie Corman, Nicholasville, Kentucky.

Marvin Winston Catron
Marvin Winston Catron, 64, Columbia, died Saturday, August 7, at the Veteran's Hospital in Louisville.
He was the son of the late Proctor and Ivona Brown Catron of Webbs Crossroads in Russell County.
He is survived by two sons, Tony and Todd Catron; three daughters, Tammy Cook, Carrie Estes, and Tonya Grant all of Columbia; five grandchildren; two brothers, Joseph Catron, Monticello, Indiana and Welby Catron, Glensfork; and four sisters Marie Brown and Merlin Dickerson, both of Louisville, Mavis Delk, Cincinnati, Ohio and Janice Patterson, Franklin, Indiana.
Funeral services for Marvin Catron were held Tuesday, August 10 at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of the Rippetoe Funeral Home in Russell Springs, with Bro. Billy Dunbar officiating.
Burial was in Mill Springs National Cemetery in Nancy, Kentucky.

Oral Blakey
Oral Blakey, 78, formerly of Russell County died Saturday, August 7, in Horse Cave.
He was the son of the late William C. and Bertha Coffey Blakey.
He was a US Army Veteran during WWII.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Oma Lawless Blakey.
He is survived by his second wife, Wilma Jean Blakey, Horse Cave, Kentucky; one son Marvin Lee Blakey, Magnolia, Kentucky; one grandson; and two sisters, Irene Miller and Helen Lawless, both of Russell Springs.
Services were held Wednesday, August 11, 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Rippetoe Funeral Home, with Bro. Wayne Hatcher officiating.
Burial was in Dixon Cemetery.

James "Jim B" Dunbar
James, "Jim B" Dunbar, 83, Russell Springs, died Wednesday, August 4, 1999 at Russell County Hospital after a long illness.
He was born in Russell County September 19, 1915 to the late Lula Wilson Dunbar and the late John Marcus Dunbar.
He was a former Russell County Jailer, from 1965-1969 and 1973-1981, a member of the Bernard Ridge church of God, and a US Army Veteran.
He was preceded in death by his wife Malzora Bernard Dunbar.
He is survived by four sons, Jimmy Dunbar and his wife Jean, Bro. Billy Dunbar and his wife Ann, and Bobby Dunbar and his wife Debbie, all of Russell Springs and Bro. Johnny Dunbar and his wife Marlene, Somerset; three daughters Nora Lene Fryman and her husband Jack, Lexington, Diana Hughes and her husband Ronnie and Brenda Hudson and her husband Bobby, both of Russell Springs; one sister Lura Coulter, Mooresville, Indiana; and fourteen grandchildren.
Services were held Saturday, August 7, 1999, 11:00 a.m. at Bernard Ridge Church of God with Bros. James Small, Johnny Dunbar and Billy Dunbar officiating.
Burial was Lucenda Cemetery.
Special music was provided by Bobby Dunbar, Linda McGowan and Shane Russell.
Honorary pallbearers were Daryl McQueary, David Bernard, Ronnie Whittle, Kenneth Hadley and Steve Bledsoe.
