Josie Barnett, 85, Russell Springs, KY, passed away Sunday, August 3, 2003 at the Russell County Hospital. She was the widow of Ben Barnett. Survivors include four sons, James Barnett, Franklin, IN, Gene Barnett, Leon Barnett, and Arlo Barnett, all of Russell Springs, KY; five daughters, Shirley Gillian, Whiteland, IN, Rose Wariner, Jamestown, KY, Susie York, Earlene Richardson and Justine (Odel) Johnson, all of Russell Springs, KY; one brother, Loren Simpson, Newcastle, IN; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral services were Tuesday, August 5, 2003 in the chapel of Wilson Funeral Home with Bro. Richie Curtis officiating. Interment was in the Rexroat Cemetery. Bobby J. Bell, 69, passed away at his home on Thursday, August 7, 2003 after a long battle with leukemia. He was born on March 8, 1934 and preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Alta Bell, one son, Ronnie and one sister, Donna Bell. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Faye Head Bell; three sons, Robert, Jimmie. and Ernie Bell, all of New Albany, IN; three brothers, Ernest (Patty) Bell, Russell Springs, KY, Willie Bell and Stevie (Cathy) Bell, both of Jamestown, KY; eight sisters, Opal Foley, Carol Claborn, both of Russell Springs, KY, Peggy (Earl) Popplewell, Francis (Roy) Garner, Delores (Jacky) Mann, Marge Pickett, all of Jamestown, KY, Helen Flowers, Pierson, FL, Linda Huddleston, Louisville, KY; two grandchildren and one great grandson; and a host of nieces and nephews. Bobby was a former Tree Expert with Asphlund and a construction worker for Naegel Outdoor of Indianapolis, Bobby was a true outdoorsman. Services were conducted by Bro. Leon Simpson Honorary pallbearers were Clifty Creek Home Owners Members, Mark Helm, Jeff Foley, Billy J. Conner, Doug Capps, Brandon Andrew, Stacy franklin, and Sean Sterrett. Pallbearers were John Flowers, Pete Flowers, Mark Robinson, Ronnie Lawless, Mike Copler, Justin Stearns, Stevie Bell, Robbie Bell, and Daniel Bell. Interment was in the Kean Cemetery in Jamestown, KY. H.E. Pruitt Memory Chapel was in charge of the arrangements.
Angela Bernard, 85, Cincinnati, OH, formerly of Russell County, passed away, Monday, June 2, 2003 at Hospice of Cincinnati. She was a machine operator for Empire Products. She was of the Protestant faith. Survivors include one son, Ron (Pat) Bernard, Cincinnati, OH; one brother, Roy Flanagan, Morehead, KY; one sister, Thelma Brown, Cincinnati, OH; two grandchildren, Amber (John) Baas and Eric Wayne Bernard; and one step grandson, Matthew Baas. She was proceded in death by seven brothers and sisters, Coy Flanagan, Mervin Flanagan, Virgie Oakley, Elsie Hatfield, Margaret Hatfield, Opal Whittle and Mabel Flanagan. Funeral services will be Friday, June 6, 2003 in the chapel of Bernard Funeral Home and the Brothers Billy and Johnny Dunbar will officiate. Special music will be by Diane Hughes and Bobby Dunbar. Interment will be in the Lucenda Cemetery.

Emogene Blakey Blair, 79, Of the Esto Community of Russell County, passed away at her residence on Wednesday, July 16, 2003. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marion Blair, a daughter, Lois Ann Delk and grandchildren, Jill Blair, Amanda Blair, and Kim Delk. Survivors include three sons and their wives, Roger and Judy Blair, Russell Springs, Ky, Dean and Charlene Blair, Campbellsville, KY and Larry and Pat Blair, Columbia, KY; two daughters and their husbands, Marilyn and Randy Ford, Elizabethtown, KY and Lesa and David McDonald, Russell Springs, KY; one brother, Rev. Vernon Blakey, Russell Springs, KY and one sister, Flora Lee Hadens, both of Russell Springs, KY; eight grandchildren and their spouses, Mike and Gena Delk, David and Carol Delk, Hope and Lonnie Antle, Summer and Chris Bell, Misty Blair, Brea Blair, Jason Ford, and Crystal McDonald; Great grandchildren, Kaitlyn Delk, Caleb Delk, Adam Delk, Katie Delk, Jamison Meece, Zachary Meece, Morgan Antle, Ashley Antle, Candace Antle, Shelby Bell, Hannah Bell, and Hadley Ford. Funeral services were Friday, July 18, 2003 in the chapel of the Rippetoe Funeral Home with Bro. Roy Dean Helm officiating. Special music was provided by Dean and Sheila McKinley. Interment was in the Wolford Cemetery. Pallbearers were David and Mike Delk, Lonnie Antle, Chirs Isell, Mike Grider, Jason Ford, Terry and Lewis Loy, Bobby Bryant, Len Baldock and Mark Blakey. Gladys Blair, 89, Of the Fairview Community, passed away on Friday, June 13, 2003 at the Russell County Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Emmett and Martha Crawford Gilbert and the widow of C.E. Blair. She was a homemaker and a member of the Fairview Baptist Church. She is survived by two sons, Emmett Blair, West Palm Beach, FL and Wayne Blair, Ft. Lauderdale, FL; three daughters, Virginia Bernard and Brenda McGowan, both of Russell Springs, KY and Martha Holder; eleven grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren also survive. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Helena Faye Beatty, one brother, Alson Gilbert, her husband C.E. Blair. Funeral services were Monday, June 16, 2003 in the chapel of the Wilson Funeral Home with Bro. John C. Wilson and Bro. Frank Merrill officiating. Special music was provided by Osborne Roy, Janice Popplewell and Wilma Eller. Pallbearers were Chris Shoreder, Todd McGowan, Erik Wesley, Mark Rogers, Andy Turner and Tony Marshall. Timothy Louis Blair, Ph.D., 39, Of Morehead, KY, formerly of Russell County, passed away Tuesday, December 31, 2002 in Midway, KY. He was a chemistry professor at the Maysville Community College, and a member of the Baptist faith. Dr. Blair received his B.S. degree from Western Kentucky University and his Ph.D. degree from the University of Kentucky. He is survived by his wife, Angela Fultz Blair; one son, Morgan Louis Blair; and one daughter, Madison Lee Blair, all of Morehead, KY; his mother, Sue Johnson Blair, Russell Springs; one sister, Tami Hart, Nicholasville, KY; his paternal grandmother, Louise Blair, Russell Springs, KY; his maternal grandmother, Gertie Popplewell, Gertie Popplewell Johnson, Russell Springs, KY and one nephew, Jordan Hart, Nicholasville, KY. He was preceded in death by his father, Roger Louis Blair. Funeral services were Friday, January 3, 2003 in the chapel of Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals with Dr. Dan Mantooth officiating. Interment was in the Fultz Cemetery in Carter County. Pallbearers were Mike Fultz, Adam Snipes, Roger Hart, Matt Johnson, Kevin Blair, and Greg Wells.
