Billie Juanita Bernard, 65, Russell Springs, died Sunday, May 21, 2000 at University of Louisville Hospital.
She was born in Spokane, Washington January 28, 1935 to the late Fern Gardner Williams and the late Bill Williams.
She was a homemaker and a member of Bernard Ridge Church of God.
She is survived by her husband Robert Bernard, Russell Springs; one son Robert Bernard, Anchorage, Alaska; three daughters, Deborah Bernard and Pam Glessing, both of Anchorage, Alaska and Denise Whitaker, Richmond, Kentucky; one brother, Arthur Williams, Spokane, Washington; two sisters, Patricia Hilborn, Spokane, Washington and Wanda Erdman, Valley, Washington; nine grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
Services will be held (today) Thursday, May 25, 2000, 2:00 p.m., at Bernard Funeral Home with Bro. James Small officiating.
Burial was in Lucenda Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Shawn Bagneschi, Chris Bagneschi, Arthur Moeller, B.J. Kittoe, Jason Glessing and James Whitaker.

Ensley Wright
Ensley Wright, Sr., 84 of Russell Springs, died Tuesday, August 1, 2000 at Fair Oaks Nursing Home in Jamestown.
He was born in Cowgill, Illinois May 17, 1916 to the late Charlie and Mary Martha Stevenson Wright.
He was a retired highway department engineer, a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of the Mt. Hope Separate Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Caylor Wright (Feb. 18, 1970), and two brothers, Homer and Arthur Wright.
He is survived by his wife, Lena Wright of Russell Springs; two sons, Charley Wright of Portage, Indiana and Ensley Wright, Jr. of Bowling Green; two daughters; Alene Ashbrook of Mt. Orab, Ohio and Jewell Hogan of Lawton, Oklahoma; seven stepchildren; Gaye Goodin, Judy York, Rita Smith, Cathy Smith and Alva Smith, all of Russell Springs, James Smith of Louisville, and Zula Coomer of Berea.
28 grandchildren, 49 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services were held Friday, August 4, 2000, 10:00 a.m. at Bernard Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Bobby Conner and Bro. Danny Bailey officiating.
Burial was in Slate Branch Cemetery in Somerset
Special music was provided by Mt. Hope Church Choir.
Pallbearers were Jeff Womack, Mike Gadberry, Lee Eric Wright, Tony York, Clay Ashbrook and Kenneth Wright.

Bertha Conover
Bertha Conover, 85, a resident of Summit Manor Nursing Home in Columbia, formerly of the Oak Grove Community, passed away Thursday, August 3, 2000 at Summit Manor.
She was the daughter of the late William Preston and Mary Elizabeth Bryant and the widow of Bennie Conover who preceded her in death on May 11, 2000.
She was also preceded in death by two sons-in-law Dencil Hoover in August 1995 and Eddie Cox on April 16, 2000.
She was a member of Oak Grove Church of God of Prophecy.
She is survived by five daughters, Evalena (Carlos) England, Louisville, Kentucky Miladean Cox, Edinburg, Indiana, Donetta (Donald) Campbell, Glenda Sue Hoover and Mary Ann Collins, all of Columbia, Kentucky; one son Herman Ray (Betty) Conover, Columbia, Kentucky; nine grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
Services were held August 5, 2000 at 10:00 a.m. at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home in Columbia, Kentucky with Pastor Bob Richards officiating.
Burial was in Conover Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Chad Collins, Michael Collins, Dwayne Cox, Chris Conover, Curt Burton, Jeff Burton, Chuck Coomer and Barry Bardin.

James L. Helm
James L. Helm, 78 of Jamestown, died Saturday, August 5, 2000 at Westlake Regional Hospital in Columbia.
He was born in Jamestown August 10, 1921 to the late Stevie and Maude (Kean) Helm.
He was a construction worker.
He was preceded in death by one son Larry Helm.
He is survived by his wife, Faye (Weston) Helm; four sons, Bobby Helm of Oakland, Kentucky, Billy Helm and Jerry Helm both of Jamestown, and Tommy Helm of Columbia, Kentucky; two daughters, Sharon McElroy of Bowling Green, Kentucky and Sharolet Huckleby of Columbia, Kentucky; one sister, Mary Harris of Jamestown; and one brother, Kenneth Helm of Jamestown. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, August 7, 2000, 10:00 a.m. at H.E. Pruitt Memory Chapel with Bro. Johnny Dunbar officiating.
Burial was in Jamestown Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Lonnie Helm, Danny Helm, Greg Helm, Dwight Harris, Nathan Skaggs, and Tony Holt.

Thelma Coffey
Thelma Coffey, 79, of Columbia died Tuesday, August 1, 2000 in Adair County.
She was born June 29, 1921 in Tompkinsville to the late Hershal and Laura (Halsell) Brown.
She was a housewife and a member of the Union Chapel United Methodist Church.
She is survived by two sons, David Coffey of Columbia and Haven (Buck) Coffey of Russell Springs and two daughters, Ada Marie Laper of Columbus, Indiana and Ruth Anne Lane of Brodhead, Kentucky. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
Funeral services were held Saturday, August 5, 2000 at H.E. Pruitt Memory Chapel with Bro. Gary Hardin officiating.
Burial was in the Dixon Cemetery in Jamestown.
Pallbearers were Glen Garner, Wilber Garner, Elijah Bledsoe, Paul Woods, Mack Woods and Rudolph Woods.

Elmer C. Mills
Elmer C. Mills, 75, of Brooks, died August 5, 2000 at Norton Audubon Hospital.
He was a native of Creelsboro, Kentucky. He was retired after 38 years of service at American Standard.
He was a member of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church and past president of Local 1344 International Association of Machinist and Aerospace Workers.
Mills served as a member of the Bullitt County Planning Commission before being appointed a commissioner for the Kentucky Turnpike Water District, where he also served time as its District Manager.
He was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Bettie Polston Mills.
He is survived by his wife Reba D. Bolin Mills; two sons Gerald David and Baron; three sisters, Anna Grant, Alta Hayes and Ruby Spurling; one brother, Paul Mills; two grandchildren Ronnie Mills and Amanda Johnston and one great-grand daughter, Autumn Johnston.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 8, 2000 at Shoppenhorst, Neurath Brooks Funeral Home in Pioneer Village, with Bro. Sonny Mull officiating.
Burial was in Brookland Cemetery in Pioneer Village.
Pallbearers were Rick Spurling, Carl Pait, Ron Mills, Jon Johnston, Greg Sullinger, and Bill Harned.
