Survivors include one son, Avery ( Patti) Owens, Anderson, IN and one daughter, Wilmoth (Verlus) Polston, Brownsburg, IN; five grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three children, Ethridge Owens, Charles Alton Owens, Lillian Wynia; two brothers, Olen Foley and Otha Foley; and two sisters, Ora Wilson and Ona Thornton. Funeral services were Saturday, June 7, 2003 in the chapel of the Bernard Funeral Home with Bro. Glen Richardson officiating. Special music was provided by Dale Stilts, Boyd Richardson, and Linda Robertson. Interment was in the New Friendship Cemetery. Pallbearers were Edwin Brown, Jerome Foley, Trent Foley, Lonnie Roy, Hugh Polston and Roy Foley. The Bernard Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Joshua Dale McWhorter, 18, Russell Springs, KY passed away Saturday, June 21, 2003 at the Russell County Hospital. He is survived by his parents, Ricky Dale McWhorter, and Bonnie Tate, both of Russell Springs, KY; one son, Larry Speltz, Russell Springs, KY; two brothers, Jared Smith and Waylon Smith both of Jamestown, KY; his maternal grandmother, Mary Ruth Daniel, Windsor, KY and her paternal grandmother, Linda Ashbrook, Jamestown, KY. Funeral services were Tuesday, June 24, 2003 at the Thomas Ridge Christian Church in Liberty, KY with Bro. Donald Wilson officiating. Interment was in the Thomas Ridge Cemetery. Leroy Murphy, 60, Columbia, KY passed away Wednesday, April 23, 2003 at his residence. He was a retired oil well driller and a member of Tabor Community Church. Survivors include his wife, Gale Robinson Murphy, Columbia, KY; two sons, James (Kim) Murphy, Breeding, KY and Leroy (Chastity) Murphy Jr., Columbia, KY; two daughters, Janice (Larry) Rooks, Columbia, KY and Candi (Bentley) O’Dell, Columbia, KY; two step-children, Angela (Tim) Richard and Felisha (Shawn) Atchley, Russell Springs, KY; two brothers, Glenn Murphy, Columbia, KY and Howard Murphy, Greensburg, KY; one sister, Mary Elizabeth Murphy, Greensburg, KY; five grandchildren and eight step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers, James, Harlan, Gene, and Ronnie Murphy and one sister, Jeanette Taylor. Funeral services were Friday, April 25, 2003 in the chapel of Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home with Bro. Jimmy Murphy and Bro. Ralph Hadley officiating. Interment was in the Haven Hill Cemetery. Claud Goodin, 78, Of the Millerfield Community of Adair County, passed away Wednesday at Norton’s Hospital in Louisville, KY. He was a farmer and of the Baptist faith. He is survived by five daughters, Wilma Carter, Columbia, KY, Helen Graham, Columbia, KY, Barbara Wesley, Russell Springs, KY, Sheila Goodin, Columbia, KY, and Angie Carter, Columbia, KY. Besides his parents, William and Barbara Ann Adkins Goodin, he was preceded in death by his wife, Susie Goodin and one son, Larry Goodin. Graveside services were Friday at the Tarter Cemetery with Bro. David Coffey officiating. Wilson Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Ricky Grant, 38, Glensfork, KY, passed away Friday July 25, 2003 at the Westlake Regional Hospital Emergency Room, Columbia, KY. He was a drywall contractor by trade. He is survived by his parents Raymond and Geneva Andrew grant, Glensfork, KY; three sons, Jordan Wade Grant, Johnathon Wade Grant and Justin Wade Grant, all of Glensfork, KY; one sister, Stephanie Grant, Jamestown, KY; his maternal grandmother, Christine Huddleston Andrew, Glensfork, KY; and a host of other relatives and friends. Ronald M. Neathery, 80, Jamestown, KY passed away Saturday, August 23, 2003 at the Veterans Hospital in Lexington, KY. He was a retired city and county employee in Anderson, IN.
Survivors include three sisters, Theda Conway, Jamestown, KY, Sue Jones, Eagle, Idaho and Barbara Sorg, Anderson, IN; one brother, Elwood Neathery, Jamestown, KY; and a host of nieces and nephews also survive. Donald “Jack” Grider, 75, Russell Springs, KY, passed away on Friday, July 4, 2003 at the Jewish Hospital in Louisville, KY. Survivors include two daughters, Lisa Zaghgo and Tracy Seali, both of Louisville’ one sister, Bonnie Grider, Arizona; his step-mother, Quinnie Grider, Fair Oaks Nursing Home; and two grandchildren also survive. Funeral services were Monday, July 7, 2003 in the chapel of Rippetoe Funeral Home with Bro. John Wilson officiating. Interment was in the Rexroat Cemetery. For many years she and her late husband, E.O. “Pud” Grider owned operated the Star Theater and the Lake Trail Drive-In in Russell Springs, KY Survivors include a daughter, Suzanne Harris, Russell Springs, KY; a sister, Fern Brown, Jamestown, KY; two grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Funeral services were held on Sunday in the chapel of Rippetoe Funeral Home with Bro. Carroll Egnew and Bro. Jim Kingry officiating. Special music was provided by David and Rose Withers and Bobby Dunbar. Interment was in the Russell Springs, Cemetery.
