James Daniel Walker, Jr.
James Daniel Walker, Jr. passed away on May 24th, 2009. His last gesture so gracefully symbolized his life: surrounded by his wife Sheila, and daughters Merissa, Melissa and Krista, Danny Walker peacefully raised his hands in worship as he went on to meet Jesus.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 29, 2009 at the First Pentecostal Church in Leesville, Louisiana and will be followed by a graveside funeral service at the Elisha Memorial Cemetery in Hineston, Louisana.
James Daniel Walker, Jr. was born to J.D. and Mary Walker on November 9, 1956 in Leesville, Louisiana. He was faithful member of Leesville 1st Church and a lifelong LSU and Saints fan. He loved Louisiana and was proud of his country! He married the love of his life, Sheila Dousay on March 10, 1978. Together they had three girls, Merissa, Melissa and Krista and later “adopted”, LeSharon and Crystal who lovingly called him “Papa Bear”.
A hard worker and provider for his family, Danny worked in the automobile industry for 20+ years with a short stint in tele-communications and his last 8 years worked successfully in home repair. His work ethic was strong and he rarely missed a day of work. Throughout his illness, he would be forced to take “lil’ breaks” but still kept “workin’ on”.
In May of 2000, Danny Walker brought his family from Louisiana to Sacramento, California, and the Walker’s made The Rock Church their home.
Danny loved to camp, fish and hunt. He enjoyed company and talking with friends over coffee. Never one to meet a stranger, he was a friend to all and given many loving nicknames: Danny to most, Walker to his buddies, Hamster to his girls, and to his precious Aden, “Unka Dan-e”.
Those who knew Danny, knew that he was an optimist- about life, about hardship, about sickness and even about passing on. His attitude never missed the mark of excellence! People were amazed at how well he coped through all of his life’s circumstances.
He loved God, his family, his friends, his church and his country to his last breath.
Preceded in death by his father, J.D. Walker and sister, Judith Pechota he is survived by his wife, Sheila Walker, daughters, Merissa Walker, Melissa Allen married to Robert Allen, Krista Corbitt married to Nolan Corbitt, mother, Mary Walker and sisters Dianne Page and Christie Bishop.
