CHARLES LEWIS ALEXANDER
Cox Funeral Home - Oak Grove, LA

Funeral services for Mr. Charles Lewis Alexander, age 87, of Oak Grove, LA, will be 2:00 PM Friday, April 22, 2005 at the Cox Chapel Oak Grove, LA, with Rev. Kenny Herring and Rev. Gayle Riles officiating.
Interment will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Oak Grove, LA.
Mr. Alexander was born December 24, 1917 and passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2005 at West Carroll Care Center, Oak Grove, LA.
Charles enlisted in the U.S. Navy, September 13, 1939.
He served 6 years.
He was stationed in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii aboard the U. S. S. West Virginia Ship.
On December 7, 1941 Pearl Harbor was attacked by Japan.
The ship was destroyed, but he managed to survive.
Later on, he was assigned to the U.S.S. Ability Ship and it too was sunk.
He managed to survive that one also.
On September 24, 1945 he was discharged from the Navy and returned soon after to Oak Grove, Louisiana, for the balance of his life, he was a farmer.
Charles also enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He and a very special friend, Cecil Parmentier, as well as Bob McCall and others, spent many days hunting in Colorado, Alaska, and Canada, as well as LA, MS, AR, and TX, or just anywhere there was game.
Charles will be greatly missed by all his hunting buddies, his family and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his son, Charles Raymond Alexander; father, William Bascom Alexander; mother, Mattie Alexander; brother, Joe Alexander; and sister Abi Garrett.
Survivors will be his wife Ruth Alexander, Oak Grove, LA; sisters: Dorothy Dee West, Oak Grove, LA, and Betty Carkeet and husband, Hulan, Bossier City, LA; brother: Albert Alexander and wife, Linda, Oak Grove, LA; sisters-in-law: Laurel Roman, Waupaca, WI, Mary Lou Hurlbert, Waupaca, WI, and Ruth Alexander, Oak Grove, LA; host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Cecil Parmentier, Delton Ray Dartlon, Mike Kovac and Tommy Clarkson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bob McCall, Marvin Hopkins, Al Partain, Tick Lester, Carroll Schrock and Gerald Green.

MRS. COLA ELIZABETH BAKER
Sheffield Funeral Home - Temple, TX

Funeral services for Mrs. Cola Elizabeth Baker 71, of Georgetown, will be held Saturday at 2:00 PM in the Georgetown Church of Christ. Ministers Mac Owen and Ben Mereness will officiate.
Burial will follow at 2:30 PM on Monday in the Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.
Mrs. Baker died at her home early Wednesday morning following a long illness.
She was born in Gatesville, Texas, on April 21, 1934.
She was the daughter of the late John and Mary Rogers Walker.
She had graduated from the Afton, Oklahoma, school system.
She married J. R. Baker on November 27, 1952.
They had lived in Uvalde, Ohio, Nevada, Marshall, Mississippi, and West Monroe, Louisiana, before moving to Georgetown, where they had lived for the past five years.
While in Louisiana, she had owned and operated a Christian Book Store, as well as serving as a Secretary for the State of Louisiana.
She was an active member of the Church of Christ of Georgetown.
She and her husband founded a Divorce and Recovery Ministry.
She is survived by her Husband J. R. Baker, Jr. of Georgetown; one son, Bill Baker of Georgia; three daughters: Marsha Rhodes of Mississippi, Mary Harris of Waxahachie, and Melissa Knotts of IL; one brother, Marion Lee Baker of Oklahoma.
Also by thirteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Visitation will be at the Cook-Walden-Davis Funeral Home in Georgetown, Texas, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday.

Audrey Lee Hales Byargeon was born on August 12, 1922 in Polkville, MS, and passed away on Wednesday, April 20, 2005 in Rayville, LA.
Mrs. Byargeon was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church in Rayville, and the Pink Ladies Auxiliary at Richardson Medical Center.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Marion and Pearl Hales; siblings, Graham Hales, Clemor Phillips, May Searcy, X. V. Hales, Dennis Hales, Ruby Free, Laverne Clark, and Francis Cardin.
Survivors include her husband, John C. Byargeon of Rayville, LA; children: Gene Hutson of West Monroe, LA, Jane Patterson of High Point, NC, John C. Byargeon, Jr. of Elm Grove, LA and Rick W. Byargeon of New Orleans, LA; siblings: Billy Ray Hales, Laura Free, Waymon Hales and Diane Free; nine grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Curt Hutson, J.J. Patterson, Trey Byargeon, Brandon Hutson, Kenneth Hales, Davie Lee Day and alternate, William Bruce Hales.
Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM, Friday at Brown-Holley Funeral Home.

AIDA MCILVAIN DUCHESNE

Mrs. Aida P. (McIlvain) Duchesne, age 67, of West Monroe, LA, died Tuesday, April 19, 2005, at Glenwood Regional Medical Center in West Monroe, LA.
She was the daughter of the late Leonard McIlvain and the late Pilar McIlvain, having been born on May 17, 1937 in Manila, Philippines.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, her son, David Duchesne and grandson, Corey Dylan Atchison.
She was a homemaker and a very loving mother.
She was a member of the Catholic Faith, and was an avid Fisherman, and loved her camp on Lafourche Lake.
She is survived by her daughters, Lisa Bruce of Bogart, GA; Frances and husband, Felix Boyd of Denham Springs, LA:, Sandra and husband, Gene Atchison of West Monroe, LA; sons: Clyde Duchesne of Monroe, LA: Andrew Duchesne of Shreveport, LA: Lloyd Duchesne of Shreveport, LA; son, Daniel and wife, Ginger Duchesne of Calhoun, LA: son, Nathan and Brien Duchesne of Monroe, LA: son, Adam and Jessica Duchesne of West Monroe, LA; two sisters: Frances and Rosie; one brother, Manuel McIlvain, all of California; a loving companion, Clinton Works; nineteen grandchildren, four great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Thomas Duchesne, Jr., Roy Lee Duchesne, Jr., Gene Atchison, Todd Atchison, Eddie Duchesne and Steve Poole.

BRIAN DEL HARRISON
Monroe, LA

A celebration of the life of Brian Harrison will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2005 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the home of his sister, Sandra Evangelista, 615 Avoyelles, Monroe, LA. 71201.
Brian was born on May 22, 1956 and passed gently into the afternoon on April 20, 2005 after a long battle with cancer.
So that others might be healed, Brian asked that his body be donated to LSU Cancer Center in Shreveport, and his ashes buried in Pine Bluff, Ark.
Brian was born in Monroe, LA and grew up there and in Pine Bluff, Ark.
Brian was preceded in death by his father, Loyd Harrison and brother, Allan Harrison.
Survivors include mother, Mattie Harrison, sister, Sandra Evangelista, niece, Renee Evangelista and nephew, Casey Evangelista, all of Monroe, stepmother, Iva Harrison, stepbrother, Malon Harris and his wife, Joyce of Hot Springs, Ark., and a multitude of friends.
Memorials may be made to LSU Bone Marrow Unit in Shreveport, or Southern Care Hospice in Monroe.

EDGAR L. "BUDDY" HARRISON

Funeral services for Mr. Edgar L."Buddy" Harrison, age 85, of Monroe, will be 10:00 AM, Saturday, April 23, 2005 at Memorial United Methodist Church, located at 401 Sherrouse Avenue with Reverend Jayne Trammell-Kelly officiating.
Visitation will be held at Mulhearn Funeral Home located at 2308 Sterlington Road on Friday evening, April 22, 2005, between 5:00 and 8:00 PM.
Buddy was born on July 9, 1919 in Huttig, Arkansas, grew up in Bastrop, Louisiana, and moved to Monroe, in 1946, where he was a resident until he passed away Wednesday, April 20, 2005, after a lengthy illness.
He was the owner and operator of Central Tower Service Station and Tower Sport Shop for over 34 years and was well-known for his whistling, singing and cheerful spirit as he served his many customers.
Buddy was a World War II veteran where he fought in the European Theater, including the Battle of the Bulge.
Buddy helped to liberate our soldiers from prisoner of war camps — one being a best friend whom he grew up with in Bastop, Mr. E.D. "Bo" Shaw.
Buddy loved the outdoors as well as people.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved fishing, turkey and quail hunting with family and special friends.
As an avid gardener, he enjoyed tending his roses and vegetables, sharing his bounty with others.
Buddy was active in many civic organizations including the North Monroe Lions Club and was a lifetime member of the Monroe Little League Baseball Board.
He was faithful in service to his Church, including being active in the United Methodist Lay Witness program coordinating missions at churches in Louisiana, and surrounding states, as well as in Mexico, Israel, and Ireland.
He also coordinated Lay Speaking Schools for over 35 years, himself serving in many churches as a lay speaker.
He was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church for over 50 years, serving as Chairman of the Board, President of Methodist Men, teaching Sunday School and holding many other positions.
He is survived by his most precious and beloved wife of nearly 67 years, Dorothy Washburn Harrison: one daughter, Judith "Judy" Foret and husband Delvin of Houma, Louisiana; two sons, Edgar L. "Bud" Harrison, Jr. and wife, Carolyn of Bastrop, Louisiana; William W. "Bill" Harrison and wife, Brenda of Monroe: grandchildren; John Leach and wife, Chris and Steve Leach and wife, Faith, both of Highlands Ranch Colorado, Jeannie H. Brock and husband, Stephen of Springfield, Virginia; Gary Harrison of Bastrop: Dorobeth and Katie Harrison of Monroe; one step-granddaughter, Shellie Clement and husband, Paul of Chauvin, Louisiana, and twelve great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Barksdale Harrison, and is survived by three sisters, Bernice Castleberry of Freehold, New Jersey; Faye Crain of Sachse, Texas; Helen Murphy of Searcy, Arkansas; and sister-in-law, Naomi Harrison of Beaumont, Texas, and many loved nieces, nephews and their spouses.
Buddy will be missed by all who knew and loved him, yet will be remembered by the legacy of his love and faith that he shared so freely.

SSGT. JONATHAN CARL LANE

Goldsboro, NC — SSgt. Jonathan Carl Lane, 25, died Wednesday, April 20, 2005 at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Lane was born in Farmerville, Louisiana, and was the son of Lawrence and Brenda W. Lane of Marion, Louisiana.
He was serving in the United States Air Force and was stationed at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base.
Mr. Lane had served his country during Iraqi Freedom and in Korea.
He was an outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting, fishing and time with his son.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 22, 2005, at 10:00 AM at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base Chapel.
Graveside services will be Saturday at 3:00 PM at Union Cemetery in Marion, Louisiana.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Amy Vaccarello Lane; his son, Tyler Jonathan Lane of the home; his brother, Erick Lane of Conway, AR; and a host of relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Seymour Funeral Home, 1300 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro, NC, and Saturday from 1:00 PM until 2:30 PM at Litroe Baptist Church in Louisiana.

Mrs. McConathy was a member of the Ansley Union Church and a retired teacher having taught in the Walker, Fellowship, and Quitman communities.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar B. McConathy.
Survivors will be her three sisters-in-law: Nell Walker of Jonesboro, LA, Pauline Gunter of Quitman, LA, and Ruby McConathy of Quitman, LA; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Preston was born in Spearsville, LA, on November 30, 1920 and passed away on April 21, 2005 after a lengthy illness.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ellison and Mae Hollis Telford; an infant sister; two brothers, Buster Telford of Bernice, LA, and Ray Telford of Ruston, LA; and an infant son, John Bruce Telford.
He was a veteran of World War II serving in the Army for two and one half years.
He moved to Ruston, with his family after being discharged and worked for many years as a building contractor.
He was an avid fisherman and hunter and enjoyed many hours working on his farm in the Antioch Community.
He was a very faithful long time member of Temple Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-five years, Corrie Byrom Telford of Ruston; one son, James Preston Telford of Ruston, LA; one daughter, Judith Ann Crawford and husband, J.D. of Dubach, LA; one sister, Maybelle Grafton of Ruston, LA; one brother, Leon Telford and wife, Geneva of West Monroe, LA; five grandsons: Brian and Elizabeth Crawford of Tallahassee, FL, Jamey and Traci Telford, Joe Dan and Ashley Telford of Little Rock, AR, and Jeremy Telford of Ruston, LA; one granddaughter, Leslie Telford of Ruston, LA; five great-grandsons; one great-granddaughter; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

L. C. "PUDDLE" WILSON

Services for L. C. "Puddle" Wilson, age 81 of Columbia will be held at 4:00 PM, Saturday, April 23, 2005 from the Burroughs Pentecostal Church, Hwy 4 East, Columbia, with Rev. Richard Smith officiating.
Mr. Wilson's cousin, Rev. Jack Bates will deliver the eulogy.
Interment will follow in the Burroughs Garden of Memories Cemetery.
Mr. Wilson was born on February 12, 1924 in Gillette, Arkansas, to the union of Joseph Wallace and Cora Tenney Wilson and died Wednesday, April 20, 2005 at his residence in Columbia.
He was a retired logger and rice farmer, being the first farmer in West Carroll, to plant rice.
He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Army.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sons: Douglas Carl Wilson and Dennis Eugene Pearson.
Survivors include his wife: Donna Hatten Wilson of Columbia, his daughters and sons-in-law: Peggy Lou and Sonny Williams of Tallulah, and Kathy Dianne and Ronnie Loyd of Choudrant, his stepsons: Skip Hatten and Butch Hatten both of Columbia, his step-daughter: Cheryl Wirruh of Reno Valley, CA; his brother: Waymon Teague of Greenbrier, AR, his sister: Sallie Nichols of Eufaula, AL; his grandchildren: Phillip Parker, Jeff Parker, Dewayne Wilson, Michelle Wilson, David Scott Wilson, Chad Wilson, Lacy Barnes, Mandi Noland, Autumn Loyd, April Pearson and Shayne Pearson, his great-grandchildren: Ryland Barnes, Carley Wilson, Cody Wilson, Jessica Williams, Carmen Parker, Courtney Ezelle and Brittney Kay Parker and one great-great-grandchild: Skyla Marie Willingham.
