February 17, 2005 - Obituaries from The News-Star, Monroe, Louisiana 71201

FAYE BRUNSON BELL
Mulhearn Funeral Home - Rayville, LA

Faye Brunson Bell of Mangham, Louisiana, died Sunday, February 13, 2005 at the St. Francis Hospital after a short illness.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Leslie Bell, and her daughter, Lisa Burns Gregorie.
She is survived by her children, Robert L. "Bubba" Bell, III and Jennifer (Mrs. John) Taylor.
Her deceased daughter Lisa's son, Cole Gregorie, became her "fourth child".
Her four other beloved grandchildren are Brunson Taylor and Charlotte Taylor, both of Orlando, Florida, and Ceres (Mrs. Byron) Kitchens, of West Monroe, and Emy (Mrs. Toby) Traylor of Monroe, and her great-grandchildren, Peyton and Gus Kitchens, Chloe Taylor, and Sage Traylor.
She was born on December 4, 1919 in Mangham, at the Brunson family farm on Snake Ridge.
Her long, full life reflected her many talents.
Her love of music was evident when as a young girl, she became an accomplished violinist, playing with the Mangham Symphony and winning first in state competitions for many years.
After graduating from Mangham High School in 1936, she attended Louisiana Tech in Ruston, studying art, another of her passions.
At the outbreak of the war, she married her longtime love, Robert Leslie Bell, Jr. on February 6. 1942.
During World War II, and for a few years after, she worked at the Mangham Post Office.
She found her true calling, however, when she returned to college at Northeast Louisiana College to receive her degree in education.
She became an English teacher and librarian at Mangham High School and, in later years, taught fifth grade language arts.
Her many students brought great joy; each one was special and unique in her sight; each held a special memory in her heart.
After retirement from the school system, she worked with the Franklin Parish Special Education Program.
In the fifties, she and her close friends met together each month at the Mangham Literary Club.
Her special pride was her involvement in the Richland Parish Library Board, and she was influential in building the current Mangham Library.
Even though she was the only child of Alvin Brunson and Bessie Traweek, her extended family of Brunson and Traweek cousins and those of her husband's family, the Bells, brought her great pride and joy throughout her life.
She shared her zest for living with those around her, and, like the ancient Greeks, there was never a stranger at her door because she welcomed everyone and made sure they were treated as esteemed guests.
Memorial services were held at 7:00 PM on February 16, 2005 at Mangham Methodist Church.
Interment followed at Gwin Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home of Rayville, LA.
