Graveside services for Mrs. Ruby Alta Jackson Owens Ellis, age 87, of West Monroe, LA, will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, February 21, 2005 at the Mulhearn Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel in Monroe, LA, with Rev. Tom Gaumnitz officiating, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe, LA.
Mrs. Ellis died on February 19, 2005 at the Glenwood Regional Medical Center in West Monroe, LA.
She was of the Baptist Faith and worked for thirty-two years as a Surgical Technician at LSU Medical Center, Monroe.
Mrs. Ellis loved her grandchildren, helping others that were in the nursing homes, was an avid art enthusiast and also loved cats.
She was a mall walker.
Mrs. Ellis loved to travel after retiring.
She also maintained her own home and enjoyed working in her yard.
Mrs. Ellis is preceded in death by her son, Leon K. Owens; grandson, Tom Gaumnitz, Jr. and her brother, Irbey Jackson.
Survivors include her two daughters, Jeanette Owens Cook and Carolyn Owens Gaumnitz both of West Monroe, LA; grandchildren: Shelia Gaumnitz Parks of Dallas, TX, Celeste Cook Carter of Monroe, LA, Kristi Cook Harper, Junior Owens and Don Owens all of West Monroe, LA, Wayne Owens of South Louisiana, and Nina Williams of West Monroe, LA; numerous great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until service time at Mulhearn Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel on Monday.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or to the Gideon's International.

Mrs. Wene was born July 8, 1922 in Collinston, LA, and passed away February 19, 2005 in West Monroe, LA, after a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Wene was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers.
Mrs. Wene is survived by her husband, Robert S. Wene; sons: Ronald A. Wene and wife, Ginny of Cape Girardeau, MO, Robert Dan Wene and wife, Judy of Homer, LA, and William Jeffery Wene and Chau of West Monroe; grandsons: Michael D. Wene and wife, Lisa of Canton, MI, Clayton H. Wene and wife, Donna of Los Angeles, CA, Steven Wene and wife, Julie of Arnold, MO, and Nicholas Conner Wene of West Monroe; granddaughters: Jill Wene Cheeks and husband, Ben of North Carolina, Jennifer Wene of Little Rock, AR, and Karen Wene Cladis and husband, Jason of Cape Girardeau, MO; great-grandchildren: Sarah Wene, Lauren Cladis, Jackson Checks and Hannah Wene; sisters: Beryl LaRocco, JoAnn Gregory and Rita Harris and husband, Barney, all of West Monroe; brother, Max Eldridge of Monroe, LA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
