Services for Mae Starnes Campbell, age 83, of Columbia, will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, February 25, 2005 from the chapel of Riser Funeral Home in Columbia, with Rev. Shane Duke officiating.
Interment will follow in the Welcome Home Cemetery in Grayson.
Mrs. Campbell was born in Caldwell Parish, on October 29, 1921 to the union of Alfred Franklin and Gertrude Darden Starnes and died Tuesday, February 22, 2005 at the Citizens Medical Center in Columbia.
She was a homemaker and was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Elvin Campbell.
Survivors include her sister and brother-in-law, Dollie and Morgan Legendre of Westwego; her brothers, Gene Starnes of Pearl River, and James Starnes of Saraland, AL; six nieces and two nephews; six great-nieces and eight great-nephews.
Pallbearers are Tommy Brown, Johnny Brown, Jeff Wyant, Danny Ostrum, Chris Frederick, Clayton Perot, Nick Lindsey, Kenneth Ray Fatheree, Curtis Perot and Ken Black more.
Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM and Friday from 8:00 AM until time of services at Riser Funeral Home, 7131 Hwy. 165, Colum bia.

WILLIE F. COX

Services for Willie F. Cox, age 76, of Grayson, will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, February 24, 2005 at the Clarks Pentecostal Church in Clarks, LA, with Rev. Gary Thomas and Chester Stapleton officiating.
Interment will follow in the Adams Cemetery west of Kelly.
Mr. Cox was born on May 9, 1928 in Kelly, to the union of Gilbert and Minnie Jones Cox and died Tuesday, February 22, 2005 at the Citizens Medical Center in Columbia, after an extended illness.
He was retired from the Louisiana Department of Highways.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Willard Cox; his sister, Charlene McMillan; his son-in-law, Dan Stamper and his grandsons, Joey Cox and Joel Cox.
Survivors include his wife, Varnell Cupples Cox of Grayson; his seven children: Bill Cox, Jan S. Arnold and her husband, Trebla, Marty Cox, Terry Cox and his wife, Connie, all of Grayson, Rhonda Stapleton and her husband, Chester of Kelly, Paul Cox and his wife, Betty K. of Columbia, and Timmy Cox and his wife, Cherie of Clarks; thirteen grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and his sisters: Modene Starkey, Yvonne Mosely and Annette Hardwick.
Pallbearers will be Cliff Stamper, Jason Stamper, Mike Stapleton, Josh Stapleton, Jessie Cox, Madison Green and Timmy Cox, Jr. Scotty Albritton will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
Visitation is at the Clarks Pentecostal Church until time of services.

WAYNE DALE "BOOBY" JOHNSON

Mr. Johnson was born on March 3, 1924 and passed away Monday, February 21, 2005 in Jackson, MS.
Mr. Johnson was a graduate of Chatham High School and briefly resided in San Antonio, TX, where he was trained as a sheet metal worker.
He was a WWII veteran of the Army Air Corps and served in the Pacific Theatre and India.
Mr. Johnson and his father, Dave, owned and operated Johnson Service Station in Chatham, LA.
Mr. Johnson then owned and operated Johnson Oil Company and Chatham Citgo for many years.
He was a member of Sikes Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of over 55 years, Martha Johnson of Chatham, LA; one daughter: Carol Ann Johnson of North Potomac, MD; one son: Dale F. Johnson of Chatham, LA; one sister: Thetis Davidson of Ardmore, OK; two brothers: Dr. David Edsel Johnson and wife, Francis of Birmingham, AL, Dr. Johnny Ray Johnson and wife Barbara of Florence, AL.
Pallbearers will be Eddie Gatlin, Herman Leonard, Ira Reeves, Eddie Langston, Bobby Keith Barnette, and David Loveridge.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Floyd Jones, Dr. Kay Kovac, and Robert Poche.

Bill was born May 26, 1931 in Forest, LA, and passed away at home February 22, 2005 in West Monroe, LA.
Bill is survived by the love of his life Marga Massey Lockard: Mrs. Bobby Ray (Betsy) Jackson; Mrs. Johnny Ray (Linda) Freeman; William Earl "Billy" Lockard, Jr. (wife, Corina); and Mark Lockard (wife Donna).
He was blessed with seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Mr. Lockard is also survived by brother, Henry Edward Lockard.
He was preceded in death by his parents, family members and grandson, Tomas Michael Freeman.
Pallbearers will be Bill's four grandsons, Jesse and John Freeman; Richard and Robert Jackson; and dear friends, Ray Hebert, Jr. and Jerry Harkins.
The family greatly appreciates Overton Brooks Veterans' Hospital in Shreveport, friends at The United Way, and the many friends and churches who have remembered them in prayers.

A memorial service for Frank Durward McFarland, age 59, of Downsville, will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, February 26, 2005 at the Downsville United Methodist Church in Downsville, with Rev. William Strokes, Jr. and the Rev. Owen Peyton officiating.
Mr. McFarland was born July 9, 1945 in Ruston, and died February 22, 2005 at his home near Downsville.
He served in the U.S. Navy as an electronic mechanic.
Mr. McFarland is survived by his two brothers: Marvin R. McFarland and wife, Mary Lou and Wayne B. McFarland and wife, Virginia, all of Downsville; one sister: Becky M. Gleason and husband, Jim of Ruston, as well as three nieces and four nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred M. and Doris B. McFarland.

Mrs. Mills was born in Caldwell Parish, on September 26, 1913 to the union of Jim and Carrie Alford Batson and died on Tuesday, February 22, 2005 at the Haven Nursing Center in Columbia.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Pentecostal faith.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Willie Junior Mills; her son, Wallace Mills and her granddaughter, Ashley Taylor.
Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law: Willie and Donna Mills of Columbia, Donnie and Theresa Mills of Hebert; her daughters and sons-in-law, Carrie and Jodie Roberts of Columbia, Dinah and Donnie Caraway of Grayson, Debbie and Johnny Walters of Oak Grove; her daughter, Carolyn M. Caldwell of West Monroe; her sisters, Georgia Johnson of Grayson, Mary Lee Ray of West Monroe, and Gladys Bailey of DeRidder; nineteen grandchildren; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Joey Roberts, Chris Mills, Charlie Caldwell, Jerry Mills, Kelvin Caraway and Billy Caldwell.

DOUGLAS FRANKLIN MOORE

Doug was born on February 20, 1954 and passed away on Tuesday, February 22, 2005 at LSU Medical Center in Shreveport, after a short illness.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Betty Ray Moore and his grandmother, Mrs. Willie B. Cochran.
Doug Moore was an avid sportsman, who loved hunting with his grandson and especially spending time with his wife, family, and friends.
The family would like to thank everyone for the donations and all the calls and prayers during Doug's illness.
Doug is survived by his wife, Nancy Echols Moore of Bastrop; one son, Ben Moore of Monroe; three daughters: Angela Moore of West Monroe, Mary Dempsey and Melissa Dempsey, both of Bastrop; two grandsons, whom he deeply loved, Hunter Moore of West Monroe, and Brock Laing of Bastrop; his father, H.D. Moore of Bastrop; two sisters, Jana Wooten and husband, Bobby and Gail Tatum and husband, Bennie, all of Bastrop; one brother, Kevin Moore of Bastrop; three nephews: Pat Moore, Glenn Anderson and Russell Anderson, all of Bastrop; and one niece, Taryn Moore of Bastrop.

RONALD DENNIS SADOW

Funeral Services for Ronald Dennis Sadow, 73, of Monroe, will be Friday, February 25, 2005 at 4:00 PM at Kilpatrick Funeral Home Chapel in Monroe, LA, with Monsignor Edmond Moore officiating.
Interment will follow at St. Matthew Cemetery, under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Monroe, LA.
Ronald was born March 30, 1931 in Astoria, NY, and passed away Tuesday, February 22, 2005 in Monroe, LA.
He was a graduate of Jamaica (NY) High School and entered the University of New Hampshire in 1949, where he obtained a B.S. in Civil Engineering in 1953.
During his time at UNH, he lettered in several sports and played on UNH's Yankee Conference champion football team in 1950.
He also completed Reserve Officer Training Corps study and was commissioned a second lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force upon graduation.
After advanced training at Wright-Patterson AFB in Dayton, OH, he was stationed as an assistant installations officer at Hamilton Air Force Base in San Francisco, CA, where he met Helen Veronica Haddock.
They married November 11, 1955.
After discharge from the Air Force, he attended the University of Tennessee, and completed a M.S., concentrating in the area of environmental engineering in 1957.
Employed by Dow Chemical for several years in the Norfolk, VA, area, a subsequent transfer brought him to the Texas Gulf Coast, where he worked in areas of increasing responsibility for Monsanto Corporation, Turner, Collie and Braden Engineers, and Walsh Engineering. I
n 1981, he accepted a senior-level position at Ford, Bawcon, and Davis in Monroe, where he remained for the next dozen years, and spent one year working for the U.S. Department of Energy's Waste Isolation Pilot Plant in Carlsbad, NM, before retiring from fulltime work in 1996.
He continued working parttime until his death.
Mr. Sadow was a professional engineer for almost 50 years and held numerous offices, and wrote a number of articles about, and won awards in the profession.
Licensed in dozens of states, he was an authority on treatment of sewage, waste water, and runoff.
In 1968, he won the American Society of Civil Engineers' Water Pollution Control Federation's Wilhelm Rudolfs Award for the best publication in the area, and subsequently, he served on the executive board of the organization, as well as on its Texas board, culminating in holding the office of president of the Texas organization in 1971.
He was preceded in death by his father, Sigmund John Sadow and by his mother, Beatrice Strzelecki Sadow.
He is survived by his wife: Helen of Monroe; son: Jeffery Dennis Sadow and daughter-in-law, Deshae Elizabeth Lott Sadow of Bossier City, LA, and by son, Jonathan Carl Sadow and daughter-in-law, Jennifer Beth Hurley Sadow of Kerrville, TX.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Community Pharmacy, 502 Grammont Street, Monroe, LA 71201.

Mrs. Shandy was retired from Olinkraft following 20 years of service.
She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother.
Mrs. Shandy loved gardening and crafts.
Mrs. Shandy is survived by her husband, Daniel K. Shandy; children: Pat Haley, Peggy Frith, Debra Bidleman, all of West Monroe, LA; and Richard A. Shandy of Virginia Beach, VA; five siblings: Jerry Young, Mary Alexander, Florence Harris, Leland Adams, and Frances Adams, sixteen grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Michael Bidleman, Daniel Hill, Keith Haley, Chris Evans and Jimmy Williams and Ricky Bidleman.

RITA LAVERNE REEVES

Mrs. Reeves was born January 22, 1925 and died February 22, 2005.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lillie and Wesley Rea.
Mrs. Reeves was a loving mother and devoted wife.
She worked with her husband in his State Farm Insurance Agency until retirement.
She was a member of Cook Baptist Church for many years, where she served faithfully in several capacities.
In later life, she became a member of Temple Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband of fifty-seven years, J.E. Reeves, Jr.; two sons, Gene Reeves and wife, Alicia and Dean Reeves; one daughter, Reita Reeves; five grandchildren: Allison Granger and husband, David, Angie Johnson and husband, Matt, Jared Reeves, Nicole Reeves and Wesley Reeves.
She is also survived by two great-grandchildren, Ethan Granger and Ian Johnson.
Visitation will be Thursday, February 24, 2005 from 6:00 PM until 8:30 PM.

CALVIN STEWART SPEARS

Stewart died February 18, 2005 as a result of a car accident in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
He is survived by his wife Jennifer Spears and three-year-old son, Elijah Spears, father and stepmother, Calvin and Judy Spears, mother, Lila Burmfield, sister, Channon Christion, step-brothers, Timothy McCall and Shane McCall, step-sister, Shelly Tarver, nephews, Justin, Jarred and Landon, nieces, Cindell, and Lauren.
Maternal grandmother, Betty Brumfield and many aunts, uncles, and cousins, who all loved him very much.
Funeral services will be held Sun., February 27, 2005 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Schmidt & Bartelt Funeral Home in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin.

GLENN DAVID TARVER
Columbia, LA - Educator

Glenn David Tarver, died mid-day, February 19th at the age of 70.
Glenn was born Columbia, Louisiana, on August 30, 1934.
As a youth, he was an avid outdoorsman enjoying sports and hunting.
Glenn received a Bachelor's Degree in Science and minor in Math from NLU.
He received his Master's at Mississippi Baptist College.
During the Korean War, Glenn served his country in the United States Marine Corps as a Corporal.
He began his career as a basketball coach in Enterprise, La.
He next taught Math at Columbia High, finishing as a Guidance Counselor at Caldwell Parish High School.
After retirement, Glenn fulfilled his dream as a cattle farmer.
Glenn was married to Patricia Ann Tarver for 47 years.
Glenn's also survived by his daughters, Nancy Wild married to Wayne Wild of Crowley, his daughter, Wenda Carr married to Robert Carr of Monroe, one special grandchild, Matisha Jenkins of Baton Rouge, brother Jim Tarver, brother-in-laws Charles Meredith and Johnny Meredith, and several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 26, 2005 at the Columbia Heights Baptist Church in Columbia, Louisiana.
Officiating will be Rev. Bruce McGee.
Glenn, forever the educator, wanted people to learn from his many illnesses and as a truly caring person he has dedicated his body to Science.

Wenda was born on August 27, 1959 in Columbia, Louisiana, and passed away on April 11, 2023 in Monroe, Louisiana.
She had retired from teaching and loved reading and watching movies.
Wenda loved story telling the bigger the audience the bigger the story!
She dabbled in gardening and her favorite pastime throughout her entire life was arguing with her sister, Nancy.
Wenda gave most of her attention and care to her dogs, Ollie and Dexter.
She will be remembered for her laugh.
Wenda was preceded in death by her parents, Glenn and Patricia Meredith Tarver.
Wenda is survived by her husband, Robert Carr; daughter, Matisha Jenkins McCarthy and husband Patrick; step-children, Jaby Carr and Stephanie Mullins; sister, Nancy Wild and husband Wayne; many other cherished family and friends.
