Funeral services for Mr. Jimmy Gerald Chain will be held 10:00 AM Saturday, February 26, 2005 at Bethel Baptist Church on the Crossett Road with the Rev. Jimmy Herring officiating.
R E. Tarver will read the obituary and deliver the eulogy.
Burial will follow in Beekman Cemetery under the direction of Golden Funeral Home.
Visitation will be Friday, February 25, 2005 from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM in the Bethel Baptist Chruch sanctuary.
Mr. Chain, 65, died February 23, 2005 at 2:45 PM at his home.
He was born June 28, 1939 in Oak Grove, LA, but lived the majority of his life in Bastrop, LA.
He was baptized into the membership of Bethel Baptist Church, on December 10, 1949, at the age of 10, where he continued as a member for 56 years.
Jimmy served a tour of duty in the United States Navy from 1957 to 1960.
Upon his return home, he was employed by International Paper, Bastrop Mill, from 1960 to 1963.
He then worked for Worley Butane Service from 1963 to 1977.
He was a loving husband to his wife, Juanita Crumley, who he married June 1, 1961, and wonderful father to their three sons, Kevin Gerald, Jim Hardy, and Heath Allen.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 36 years, Juanita Crumley, on October 29, 1997, and his parents, George P. and Velma Hogue Chain, on December 25, 2002 and April 10, 1990, respectively.
Survivors include his sons and their families: Kevin Gerald and Lisa Stanley Chain and their daughter, Jennifer, Jim Hardy and Kristine Brown Chain and their son, Kristopher, and Heath Allen and Pamela Cross Chain and their four sons: Heath Tyler, Luke Payton, Ryan Alan and Joey Leighton.
He is also survived by a brother, George A. Chain and wife Ruth of West Monroe, LA, and three sisters: Shelvia Chain Crook and husband Tom, Shirley Chain Richards and husband, Buddy, and Dottie Chain Musgrove and husband, Butch, all of Bastrop, LA; two uncles also survive Jimmy: Hardy Brown Chain of Weatherford, TX, and Carl Kenny Chain and wife Lou Etta of Bastrop, LA.
He is also survived by one aunt, Dorothy Chain Choate of Rolling Fork, MS, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Tom Crook, Butch Musgrove, Charles Moore, Johnny Hughes, Dexter Bryan, and Frankie Williams.
Honorary pallbearers are R.E. Tarver, Carl Chain, Buddy Richards, Bruce Goyne, and Tommy Wilkerson.
During the course of Jimmy's illness, many friends have visited and brought food to him, and his sons would like to give special thanks to Charles and Libba Moore, Johnny and Ann Hughes, R.E. and Nadine Tarver, and Craig and Jan Oliphant for the friendship and loving care they have bestowed upon their father.
Special thanks also go to Dr. David Raines and his assistant Leighnae Poole of the Gastroenterology Clinic for the wonderful care they have given Jimmy over the past three and one-half years.
Also, many thanks to the Hospice Care of Louisiana personnel, especially Anita, Angela, and Rev. James Paker.

Mr. Hale passed away Wednesday, February 23, 2005.

Mrs. Haley, a employee of the Bastrop Wal-Mart for 21 years and member of Green Acres Baptist Church, passed away Wednesday, February 23, 2005 at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe, LA.
She was born in White, Arkansas, on August 8, 1927.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Henry Jackson Morgan, Sr., Georgia Mandia Tate Morgan Marter and Raymond Gaston Marter; husband: Harry Haley; brothers: Cecil Curtis Morgan, Lucian Tate Morgan, Henry Jackson Morgan, Jr; and a daughter, Georgia Leondas Haley.

Charles English Harkleroad of Mer Rouge passed away on February 23, 2005.
A memorial service followed by a visitation time with the family will be held on Friday, February 25, 2005 at 4:00 PM at Golden Funeral Home Chapel.
Officiating at the service will be Rev. Stowe Harbin, assisted by Rev. Nick Farone, with Jonathan Wiggins providing worship music.
Mr. Harkleroad was preceded in death by his parents, A.G. Harkleroad and Geneva Hundley Harkleroad, his infant son, Clark Andrew Harkleroad, and his sister, Nancy Harkleroad Drane.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Clark Harkleroad of Mer Rouge, son, Hundley Mayo Harkleroad and wife Jennifer of Stockbridge, GA; daughter Elizabeth Harkleroad McBee and husband, Joel and grandson: Asher Alexander McBee, all of Ft. Myers, FL; sister: Janet Harkleroad Thompson and husband, Bobby of Huntsville, AL, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Harkleroad was a past member and chairman of the Education Committee at Prairie View Academy, where he worked tirelessly for over twenty years to recruit quality teachers for the school.
He was the driving force behind the formation of the PVA Parents and Friends Club in the early 1980's.
He was an active supporter of King's Camp, always helping in any way needed.
Mr. Harkleroad was also a long-time member and past chairman of the Mer Rouge Community Chest and served his country in the United States Air Force.
Typical of his generous and caring nature, Mr. Harkleroad had listed himself as an organ donor.
He gave the gift of life to a waiting liver transplant recipient, the gift of sight to two corneal transplant recipients, and aid to countless others through tissue donation.
The Harkleroad family wishes to thank Dr. Robert Lyon, Dr. Allen Spires, and the ICU staff at Morehouse General Hospital for the competent and loving care provided to him.
Their appreciation also goes out to the many friends who prayed and exhibited such love and concern for him and the family during this difficult time.

Funeral services for Wilmer Hudson Howell, age 91, a long-time resident of Jackson, Mississippi, and most recently, a resident of Monroe, Louisiana, will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, February 25, 2005 at Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home of Tallulah, Louisiana.
Reverend John Rushing will officiate.
Mr. Howell was born in Carthage, Mississippi, on July 11, 1913, and died on February 23, 2005, at Saint Francis Medical Center.
He is preceded in death by his only child, Margaret Ellen.
Survivors include: his wife of 63 years, Lela Lawrence Howell; sisters-in-law: Margaret Beene of Tallulah, and Lucille Yenni of Kenner; nephews and nieces: Charles Beene of Monroe, Jerry Beene of Monroe, Peggy Maunoir of Kenner; and numerous great-nieces and nephews.
Mr. Howell graduated in 1938 from Mississippi State College in chemical engineering.
That same year, he was commissioned 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Reserve.
In 1939, Mr. Howell became a cadet in the U.S. Navy Reserve.
He became an officer in the Civilian Conservation Corp in 1940.
He was on active duty during World War II from 1942-1946 and served in the Philippines and Okinawa.
He graduated from Command and General Staff College, Fort Leavenworth in 1963.
Mr. Howell retired as a full colonel in 1973.
In 1955, Mr. Howell became a certified public accountant and owned his accounting firm until retirement in 1976.
Visitation will be Friday from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home in Tallulah.

Mr. McDonald died Thursday at Richland Manor Nursing Center in Delhi, following an extended illness.
Marcus was an outgoing individual, with a heart of gold, who never met a stranger.
He was preceded in death by his father, Leroy McDonald, Jr.

A veteran of World War II, he served as a U.S. Army Ranger and landed on Normandy Beach in France.
He was also a recipient of the Purple Heart.
Mr. Powell was preceded in death by his daughter, Joy Goss.

Lonnie Smith lived a life of giving and doing for others.
He was selfless in his passion to help others achieve success in their personal and career endeavors.
He was a motivator, a spokesman, a professional, a teacher, a confidant, a dedicated employee and alumnus who loved GSU!
He believed, 'It's not what we gain...but what we give that measures the worth of the life that you live.'
One of his favorite quotes was, 'Don't preach me a sermon; live it.'
He was born on Feb. 11, 1939 in Morris Quarters of W. Monroe, LA.
He was the 9th of thirteen children born to Lonnie Smith, Sr. and Essie Mae Wyatt of W. Monroe, LA.
At the age of six, he was baptized in the Ouachita River, and became a member of the St. Joseph Missionary Baptist Church, West Monroe, LA, and joined the usher ministry.
He was a faithful church member and usher ever since.
His Christian walk was evident by the sharing of his time, treasure and talent, at church, within the community and throughout his professional career.
Lonnie Smith graduated from Grambling State University in 1962 with a B.S. in Industrial Arts.
In 1966, he earned an M. ED. in Secondary Education from Southern University, Baton Rouge, LA.
He has additional specialties in Industrial Ed., Guidance and Counseling, Administration and Supervision.
He began his career as a teacher at Carroll Junior High School, Monroe, LA.
He joined the GSU staff in 1968.
He was the Career Planning and Placement Center Director from 1970, until he retired in 2001, but continued to support the GSU staff on a parttime basis.
He was recently honored during Bayou Classic festivities November 2004 as "Grambling State University's Hardest Working Retiree" in a ceremony hosted by Tom Joyner, a popular, syndicated, radio personality.
He touched the lives of countless students matriculating at various universities but especially those at GSU.
He was tireless in his support of opportunities to help students prepare for the future and to secure job opportunities for them.
Lonnie Smith is survived by two brothers, Calvin C. Smith of W. Monroe, LA, and John Alfred Smith of Jonesboro, GA, a wife of 42 years, Estella Stamper Smith and their three children, Lonnie Smith, III of Houston, TX, Valencia Michelle Smith of Herndon, VA, and Kori L'Andre Smith of Dallas, TX, two daughters-in-law, Wendy McGhee Smith and Tonya Aaron Smith, and three grandchildren, Lonnie Alexander Smith, Samantha Nicole Smith and Jayden L'Andre Smith.
He considered his children to be 'jewels in his crown' and his legacy will live on through them because of instilled values such as 'you can do' and 'whatever you do, do it well'.
He used to say to them, 'It takes a lifetime to build a reputation and seconds to destroy it.'
He challenged them to be better than he was.
Lonnie Smith was a dedicated member of the Mu Tau Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.
He was also a longterm member of the Twin City Modified Trucker Club in Monroe, LA.
He was the President of the City Wide Ushers Association of West Monroe, LA.
He was a Sunday school teacher, a member of the usher board, and the chairman of the board of trustees at St. Joseph M.B.C. for many years.
He was also an avid GSU football fan.
His hobbies included antique vehicle restoration, remodeling and traveling.

He enjoyed playing Domino's with his grandchildren.
Mr. Strahan was employed with Manville/Riverwood for 28 years.
Mr. Strahan is preceded in death by parents, Bowen and Etta Strahan, his wife, Doris Strahan, two brothers, Troy and Bill Strahan, and sister Mary Louise Graham.

WILLIAM W. TRIMBLE
San Antonio, TX
Lt. Colonel (Ret.) William W. Trimble died on February 23, 2005.
Col. Trimble was born in Monroe, LA, to William W. Trimble, Sr. and Eula Medaries Trimble.
Col. Trimble always dreamed of becoming a pilot and flying all over the world.
He left college in his senior year, during World War II, to follow his dream.
He joined the Army Air Corps and received his pilot wings and a 2nd lieutenant commission in early 1943.
He was immediately sent to complete his training in the B17 Flying Fortress.
Later he was assigned a crew and deployed to the Eighth Army Air Corp in England, to enter the air war over Europe.
Col. Trimble flew in some of the most famous Eighth Air Corp missions: the first American air raid on Berlin, Schweinfurt, Nuremberg, Leipzig, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Munich and two low altitude missions over Normandy on "D-Day".
Col. Trimble was shot down over France on his last mission.
He captured by the Gestapo and after 21 days of interrogation, turned over to the German Army and placed in prison.
After several months, he was transferred to the German Air Force.
He later escaped and with the aid of the French Underground returned back to England.
For this and other efforts over a 30-year military career, he was awarded the Purple Heart with cluster, the Flying Cross with cluster and the Air Medal with four clusters, the POW medal and numerous other medals.
After the war, Col. Trimble flew a variety of aircraft in various assignments.
The most enjoyable assignment for him and his wife, Kay, was with 86th Fighter Wing at Neubiberg, just outside of Munich, Germany in the early 1950's.
As a member of the Greatest Generation, he lived his dreams, help to protect our freedoms and was a real hero to all who knew and loved him.
Col. Trimble is survived by his wife, Mary Cathryn Mullis Trimble, of 62 years; son and daughter-in-law: W. Hunter Trimble and Joan Trimble of San Antonio, Texas; son and daughter-in-law: Jeffery D. Trimble and Tina Harris Trimble of The Woodlands, Texas, and grandchildren: Austen William Trimble, Elizabeth Trimble, Aron David Trimble, Daryl Trimble, Jordan Trimble, Collin Trimble and Taylor Trimble.
Col. Trimble was preceded in death by his son, Kevin David Trimble of San Antonio, Texas.
Additionally, he is survived by one brother: CDR Dan M. Trimble and his wife, Betty of Monroe, LA, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at Mission Park Chapel North on Saturday, February 26, 2005.
