Private services for Mr. James Earl Burkett, 74, of Monroe, will be Friday, March 4, 2005, at Mulhearn Memorial Park Mau soleum Chapel, with Dr. Harry Boyd, Jr. officiating.
Burial will be in Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.
Mr. Burkett, a retired Personnel Manager for Troy and Nichols Mortgage Company, died Sunday, February 27, 2005, at his residence.
He was a Korean Conflict Air Force veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Kathryn Oglesbee Burkett of Monroe; sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Donna Burkett and Mark and Kim Burkett; grandsons, Terry Burkett, Garett Burkett and Cameron Burkett, all of Alpine, CA; stepsons, Renny Gilliland of Monroe, and Chris Gilliland of Longview, TX; stepdaughter, Angie Parker of Monroe; sisters and brothers-in-law, Jerry and O.J. Wiles of Rayville, LA, and Joan and Dennis Huffman of Houma, LA; step-grandsons, Seth Parker of Monroe, and Cade Gilliland of Longview, TX; step-granddaughters, Mindy Gilliland, Christan Gilliland, Chandler Gilliland and Taylor Gilliland all of Longview, TX; and two close friends who were like a sister and brother, Betty and Ken Rogers.
Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Thursday, March 3, 2005, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.
Memorials may be made to Louisiana Baptist Children's Home or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

ANNIE NAOMIE MANGUM COLE
Edmonds Funeral Home - Jonesboro, LA

Graveside services for Mrs. Annie Naomie Mangum Cole, age 97, of Jonesboro, LA, will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, March 2, 2005 at the Union Cemetery with Rev. Genny Hoyt officiating.
Interment will be in Union Cemetery Bienville, LA, under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home, Jonesboro, LA.
Mrs. Cole was born March 18, 1907 and passed away on Sunday, February 27, 2005 at the Jackson Parish Hospital.
Survivors include her two daughters: Marie Barnard of Dubach, LA, Joy Long and husband Allen "Flip" of Quitman, LA; one son: Wesley Dwight Cole, Sr. and wife Mildred of Tupelo, MS; one sister: Mae Diffey of Jonesboro, LA; five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be at Edmonds Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 1, 2005 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM.

NELLINE C. ELDRIDGE
Golden's Funeral Home - Bastrop, LA

Services for Mrs. Nelline C. Eldridge, age 78, Monroe, formerly of Bastrop will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, March 2, 2005 at Golden's Chapel with Rev. Mickey Bounds, Donald Reeves, William Fowler officiating.
Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Golden Funeral Home.
Mrs. Eldridge passed away Sunday, February 27, 2005 at the St. Francis Medical Center.
She was preceded in death by her husband Rev. Torris (Sonny) F. Eldridge.
Survivors include her three daughters: Janice Coleman of Bastrop, Mary Sue Chapman and husband Paul of Rocky, Branch Sheryl Tucker and husband Kenny of Marion; sister: Charlotte Haynes of Wilmot, AR; brother: Charles Chambers of Monroe, LA; ten grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Tuesday at Golden's from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM.

STANLEY E. HODGES, JR., M.D.
Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow - Mckinney, TX

Stanley E. Hodges, Jr., M.D., age 74, of Plano, Texas, passed away peacefully February 20, 2005, at his home.
He was born October 30, 1930, in Monroe, Louisiana, to Stanley Emanuel and Mayme Guerriero Hodges, Sr.
On August 18, 1956, he married Jo Ann McDonald of Monroe.
He attended St. Matthew's School and Northeast Junior College in Monroe, and went on to receive his Bachelor of Science Degree from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and his Doctor of Medicine Degree from LSU Medical School in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Dr. Hodges completed his residency in Nuclear Medicine/Radiology at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas.
He served as a medical officer in the U.S. Navy during 1957-1960.
He served as Chairman of the Department of Nuclear Medicine and Assistant Chairman of the Department of Radiology at Confederate Memorial Hospital in Shreveport, Louisiana, prior to having his private practice in the same fields in Dallas and the Metroplex.
He served on the staffs at Gaston Episcopal Hospital and North Texas Hospital and served as Chief of Staff at Bristol General Hospital and General Hospital of Lakewood.
His honors include Fellow of American College of Nuclear Physicians in 1983; Chairman TMA Committee on Nuclear Medicine 19801985; Texas Radiology Society Representative to TMA Council on Socio-Economics 1984; Dallas County Medical Society Alternate Dele gate to Texas Medical Society 19821986; Dallas County Medical Society Delegate to Texas Medical Society 1986; and President of Association in Nu clear Medicine 19771978.
Dr. Hodges was an active contributor to advances in his medical fields and actively involved in the AMA, TMA, Dallas County Medical Society, Radiological Society of North America, Society of Nuclear Medicine, Southern Medical Association, American Institute of Ultrasound in America, Texas Radiology Society, Texas Association of Physicians in Nuclear Medicine, American College of Radiology, American College of Nuclear Medicine, American College of Nuclear Physicians, and numerous other associations and societies.
Dr. Hodges loved photography and has provided his family and friends with visual memories to last a lifetime.
He is survived by his wife, Jo Ann M. Hodges of Plano, Texas; daughters, Janet Davis and husband, Chris, and Melody Catloth and husband, Mark, all of Plano, Texas, and Wendy Jordan of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; son, John Christopher Hodges and wife, Amy of Wilmington, North Carolina; grand children, Brian and Sarah Davis, Andrew and Hannah Jordan, and Joshua and Emma Hodges; aunt, Dorothy Dunnett of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Juanita Guerriero of Monroe, Louisiana, Mary Guerriero of Madison, Mississippi; and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents and son-in-law, Frank Jordan.
Graveside services will be held at a future date.

MR. LUTHER A. JONES
Kilpatrick Funeral Home - Monroe, LA

A memorial service for Mr. Luther A Jones, 87, will be at 2:00pm Tuesday, March 1, 2005 at First United Methodist Church on Loop Rd. in Monroe.
Officiating will be Rev. Larry Stafford and Rev. Terry Love.
Mr. Jones was born in Epps, LA, on Dec. 7, 1917 to parents Luther A. Jones, Sr. and Della Virginia Moore Jones, and passed away on Feb. 26 at North Monroe Medical Center.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Anne Goodwin Jones, and his brother Murrell Jones.
Mr. Jones is survived by three sons, Charles Jones of Martinez, Georgia; Ronald Jones of Two Rivers, Wisconsin; Barry Jones of Arlington, Texas; and three grandchildren, Alexis Jones, Michael Jones and Matthew Jones.
He is also survived by his loving "Monroe family", which includes his devoted niece and caregiver, Pam Hill and her husband, Fred; great niece, Kim Hill DeWitt, whom he loved to hear sing, and husband Ron; great nephew, Jeff Hill and wife Sha; and great nephew, Stevie Hill and wife Kelly.
He is also survived by several other nieces and nephews, many other great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews, as well as his long time friend and faithful fishing companion, George Hayes.
Mr. Jones served his country during World War II as a B29 pilot stationed on Guam flying for the 39th Bomber Group, 314th Bomb Wing with the 20th Air Force. He was commander of the Flying Fortress "City of Monroe".
In all, he flew more than 20 missions and the "City of Monroe" was one of several B29's that flew cover over Tokyo when the Japanese signed surrender papers on the Battleship Missouri in September of 1945.
During his distinguished flying career he was awarded the American Defense Ribbon with the Bronze Service Star, the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, the Air Medal with two oak clusters, the Distinguished Flying Cross with one oak cluster, two Distinguished Unit Citations and had Battle Participation Credit for the Eastern Mandate Campaign.
By the end of his military service he had attained the rank of Lt. Colonel.
Mr. Jones graduated from Ouachita Parish High School, attended Northeast Junior College in Monroe, and graduated from Louisiana Tech in Ruston.
He obtained his Master's Degree from LSU in Baton Rouge.
After obtaining his education he taught high school in Lake Charles until his retirement, at which time he moved back to Monroe.
Mr. Jones' family wishes to express sincere appreciation to many people for their love, care and concern for him which helped make the last few years of his life active and happy.
First, thanks go to the pastors and members of First Methodist who so readily took him in when he joined a few years ago.
He loved his church and he especially loved the music of "Sound Faith".
Thanks also to his longtime physician, Dr. David Burkett and his wonderful caring staff.
Their care of him was always "above and beyond".
Then there's the Aviation and Military Museum of which he was a member.
He was their "resident World War II expert" and he spent many happy hours there answering questions of the visitors. Curator, Jerry Smith and his staff always appreciated his input and made him feel so welcome.
Thanks also to the staff and residents of the North Louisiana War Veterans Home.
He so appreciated the care the staff gave to him and he thoroughly enjoyed the camaraderie with the other veterans.
Luther loved his family and loved life but he also loved the Lord and he was ready to go home.
He will be missed by so many people who loved and respected him.
Visitation will be 1:00 PM until service time at the church.
The family request that instead of flowers, memorials be made to First United Methodist Church, 3900 Loop Road in Monroe, or the Aviation and Military Museum, PO Box 13113, Monroe, Louisiana 71213.

MR. WAYNE DALTON PATTON
Owens Memorial Chapel, Inc. - Ruston, LA

Funeral services for Mr. Wayne Patton, age 69, of Jonesboro, LA, will be held on Tuesday, March 1, 2005, at 2:00 PM, at Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Larry Emory officiating.
Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Ruston, under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston.
Mr. Patton was born on June 17, 1935 in Quitman, to the union of Lowell and Lettie Patton.
He died February 26, 2005 in Jonesboro, after a brief illness.
He was a retired business owner and longtime resident of Ruston, and enjoyed dirt track car racing and NASCAR.
Mr. Patton was a member of Ruston Lodge #106 F & AM.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Patton and his father.
Mr. Patton is survived by his mother: Lettie Patton of Jonesboro; four children: Butch Patton and wife, Linda of Quitman, Brenda Wilbanks and husband, Robert of Columbia, Jeff Patton and wife, Jecquitta of Dubach, and Michael Patton of Jonesboro; and nine grandchildren.
He is also survived by one brother: Bobby Patton and wife Kay of Jonesboro, and one sister: Patsy Alexander and husband, Randy of Choudrant, and numerous and nephews.
The visitation will be held on Monday, February 28, 2005 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.

MR. WILLIAM "RUSTY" WILSON
Young's Community Memorial Funeral Home - Winnsboro, LA

Funeral services for Mr. William "Rusty" Wilson, 59,of Winnsboro, LA, will be held at Young's Community Memorial Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 2, 2005 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Greg Guillot officiating.
Interment will follow at Myrtle Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Young's Community Memorial Funeral Home, Winnsboro.
Mr. Wilson died Sunday, February 27, 2005 at Richland Parish Hospital in Delhi.
He was a resident of Winnsboro, a self-employed businessman.
Rusty loved the outdoors, and served in the United States Army during Vietnam.
He was preceded in death by: parents, William and Margaret Wilson, granddaughter, Jodi B. Tatum.
Survivors include: wife: Jo Thomas Wilson of Winnsboro, LA; son: William Michael Wilson of Salt Lake City, Utah; daughter: Wendy Wilson Poon of Atlanta, GA; three grandchildren: William Gavin Wilson, Victoria Poon, and Reagan Leigh Anne Ryals; stepdaughter: Jefferi Anne Ryals and husband, Robert Lee of Delhi, LA; sister: Susan Wilson of Ferriday, LA.
The Pallbearers will be Danny Jennings, Chad Cockerham, Doyle Brown, Mike Ferguson, John Laird, and Jay Thurston.
The family will receive friends at Young's Community Memorial Funeral Home from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM Tuesday, March 1, 2005.

Hazel M. Balsamo, 67

Hazel M. Balsamo, a retired nurse of West Monroe, died Monday.
Funeral service is 10 a.m. Thursday at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in West Monroe.
Burial will be in Hasley Cemetery, West Monroe.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Calvin Earl Bostick, 54

PIONEER Calvin Earl Bostick died Sunday.

Dominic Tony Cascio, a carpenter of West Monroe, died Saturday.
Funeral service is 11 a.m. today at St. Joseph Catholic Church, followed by burial in Riverview Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Monroe.

Sallie Green, 78

HOMER Sallie Green, a homemaker, died Wednesday.
Funeral service is 11 a.m. today at Mount Calvary Baptist Church, Homer.
Burial will be in White Oak Grove Cemetery.

Don G. Hammon, 62

RUSTON Don G. Hammon, retired from law enforcement, died Saturday.
Services were set for 10 a.m. Wednesday at Episcopal Church of the Redeemer in Ruston.
Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. today at Kilpatrick Funeral Home.

Catherine W. McGrew, 81

Catherine Whitehead McGrew of West Monroe, a retired postal service employee, died Monday.
Arrangements were incomplete under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home.

Mary Alice Whitington, 57

RIDGECREST Mary Alice Whitington, a homemaker, died Sunday.
Funeral service is 10 a.m. today at Ridgecrest Baptist Church.
