Funeral services for Mrs. Hazel M. Balsamo, age 67, will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, March 3, 2005, at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in West Monroe, LA, with Rev. Leo Balsamo, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Hasley Cemetery in West Monroe, under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe.
Mrs. Balsamo was born on November 17, 1937 in Farmerville, LA, and died February 28, 2005 in Minden following a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Balsamo was preceded in death by her husband, Vincent C. Balsamo and two infant sons, Matthew Balsamo and Timothy Ray Balsamo.
Mrs. Balsamo is survived by her five daughters: Genevia Avina, Char Hernandez, Sarah Davidson, Tiny Balsamo O'Bier and Anna Balsamo; and one son, Gerald Balsamo; and ten grandchildren.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Kilpatrick Funeral Home, West Monroe, LA.

Catherine Whitehead McGrew left her family on February 28, 2005, after a brief illness. She was 81 years young and loved to be needed by all of her family. She was a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, a retired rural mail carrier of twenty years, and was loved by those who knew her and will be dearly missed by all.
Services will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, March 2, 2005 at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church in West Monroe, with the Rev. Woody Rimes and Rev. Larry Eubanks officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Vernon Cemetery.
She was preceded in death by her parents Oscar and Susie Whitehead; brothers and sister, Cleo Whitehead, Clyde Whitehead, Linda Grant, and Glen Whitehead.
She is survived by her husband of fifty-eight years, William Letrell McGrew; four sons and their wives: Ronnie McGrew, Donald and Linda McGrew, Bobby and Sharol McGrew, and Robby and Sheila McGrew; grandchildren: Robin, Keith, Adam, and Abby McGrew and Daniel and Daren George, all from West Monroe. She left behind numerous nieces and nephews.
She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Clayton and Cleo Whitehead; sister, Faye Hale; sister and brother-in-law, Ruby and Jim Lyon; sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Gerald Brown; and sister-in-law, Syble Whitehead.
Pallbearers will be Keith McGrew, Adam McGrew, Daniel George, Joseph Foster, Mike McGrew, and Jimmy Lyon.
Special thanks to North Monroe Hospital staff and Dr. Barnes.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 9:00 AM until service time at the church.

Funeral services for Inez McCarty Kidd, age 89, of Rayville, will be held at 1:00 PM, Thursday, March 3, 2005 at the First Baptist Church of Rayville, with Dr. Ernest Winburn officiating under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Rayville, LA. Burial will follow at the Rayville Masonic Cemetery.
Mrs. Kidd died February 28, 2005 at St. Francis Medical Center.
Mrs. Kidd was born in Sikes, LA, but had lived in Richland Parish, for approximately sixty-five years. Among her joys, were fishing, gardening, singing in the choir of First Baptist Church, and the many friends she acquired after graduating from Dodd's Beauty School in Monroe, LA. She opened Inez's Beauty Shop in 1937 and owned and operated it until her retirement two years ago. Mrs. Kidd was preceded in death by Walter Kidd, her husband of sixty-two years. Also preceding her in death were her parents, George and Nola McCarty of Sikes, LA; and brothers, D.J. McCarty and wife, Betty, Douglas McCarty, and Charles McCarty and wife, Dorothy.
She is survived by her sister, Sybil McCarty Christman and husband, Emmett; nephews: Charles Wayne McCarty and wife, Carolyn, George McCarty, Jimmy McCarty, Randy McCarty, Micky McCarty and wife, Carol, Terry McCarty, Darryl McCarty and wife, Pam; nieces: Debbie Risinger and husband, Fred, Jan Vowell and husband, Brad, Brenda Nicholson and husband, Larry; and several great-nieces and nephews. Other survivors include Bob and Roma Kidd, and Violet Shows.
Pallbearers include Alvin Lane, Todd Morris, Dave Day, Ronnie Cobb, Jerry Awtry, Johnny Hoychick, Floyd Bruce Boughton and Oragene Morris.
LT. COL. FRANK ALBERT SCHMIDT
Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home - New Orleans, Louisiana
Lt. Col. Frank Albert Schmidt, retired United States Airforce, passed away on February 27, 2005 at the age of 75. He was a native of New Orleans, LA, and resident of Hot Springs, AR, for fourteen years. In addition to being the beloved husband of Barbara Jean Schmidt for twenty-three years and the late Elizabeth M. Schmidt for twenty-eight years, he was also the devoted father of Deborah L. Heim, Frank A. Schmidt, Jr., Barbara C. Prisco, John H. Schmidt and Steven A. Schmidt. He was the stepfather of Lisa Marie Smith and Thomas E. Whatley. He is also survived by a sister, Margaret Jackson; nineteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Lt. Col. Schmidt was an ROTC Instructor for twenty years at West Monroe High School. He served in the U.S. Airforce during the Vietnam War. He was involved in the Site Recovery Force for Apollo Mission and Jolly Green Air Rescue. He received the Distinguished Flying Cross, Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal and Air Force Commendation Medal. He was a member of American Security Council, Air Force Association, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Reserve Officer's Association. He graduated from Alcee Fortier High School, as well as Pearl River Junior College, Loyola University and University of Southern California, where he received his Master's Degree.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. (in Metairie Cemetery) on Thursday, March 3, 2005 at 12:00 PM. Interment will follow in Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum. Visitation will be at 10:00 AM.
