JEROME ALLAN BLATE
Riverside Gordon Chapels - Aventura, FL

Jerome Allan Blate, 93, of Bay Harbor Island, Florida, died February 20, 2005.
Jerome was born January 30, 1912 in Flushings, New York. He was the son of Maurice and Clara Blate. A former resident of Canton, Ohio, Jerome was active in the local community.
He was the president of Stark's Department Stores. Jerome was a past president of the Canton Jewish Center, the McKinley Avenue Temple, and former member of Temple Israel Synagogue.
In addition, he was a former president of both the Canton Retail Merchant's Board and the Canton Rotary Club. He was a former member of the Aultman Hospital Board of Trustees and one of the founders of Arrowhead Country Club.
Jerome was also instrumental in bringing Junior Achievement to the Canton area; as well as the first escalator to Stark County.
Jerome is preceded in death by his wife, Rose Blate and his youngest son, Lawrence Erlanger Blate.
He is survived by his sons and their spouses: Ronald and Sandra of Monroe, Louisiana, and Steven and Jeannette Blate of North Canton, Ohio; his six grandchildren: Michele Blate of North Canton, Michael and Jearune Blate of Jackson Township, Don and Beth Blate of Atlanta, Gregory and Catherine Blate of Canton, Richard Blate of Atlanta, and Kevin Blate of Atlanta; and his six great-grandchildren: Danny, Brian, Jenna, Taylor, David and Sam.
Services were held at Riverside Gordon Memorial Chapel in Adventura, Florida, on February 23, 2005.

Services for Arlin Robert Carr, age 80, of Monroe, LA, will be 2:30 PM Saturday, March 5, 2005 at the Chapel of Riser Funeral Home, with Rev. Brian Rankin officiating. Interment will be in Fellowship Cemetery under the direction of Riser Funeral Home Columbia, LA.
Mr. Arlin Robert Carr died Wednesday, March 2, 2005 at his residence in Monroe, LA.
Mr. Carr was a retired employee of the City of Monroe, and was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church.
He was the son of the late Jaby Carr and the late Lemora (Dortch) Carr. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Earline Carr, a granddaughter, Carrie Saepulvado and a brother, Verley Carr.
He is survived by his daughter, Juanita Carr of Houma, LA; daughter: Juanita Carr of Houma, LA; five daughters and son-in-laws: Onita and Kenneth McMillon of Monroe, LA, Bonnie and Raul Torres of Houston, TX, Lenora and Charles Holder of Monroe, LA, Lemora and Kevin Elliott of Houma, LA, Patricia and Bruce Underwood of Monroe, LA; three son and daughter-in-laws: Willie and Joanne Carr of Monroe, LA, Wayne and Brenda Carr, Robert and Linda Carr of Monroe, LA; one sister: Juanita Flores of Houston, TX; two brothers: Ervin Carr of Kelly, LA, and Vaden Carr of Georgetown, LA; twenty-three grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.

Services for Charles Pelza Cook, Sr., age 88, of Bonita, will be at 2:00 PM Saturday, March 5, 2005 at Golden's Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gary Massey officiating. Burial will be in Bonita Cemetery under the direction of Golden Funeral Home Bastrop, LA. Mr. Cook passed away Thursday, March 3, 2005 at the Morehouse General Hospital. He was a retired Texas Gas Company Employee.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Cook; daughter: Annette Gilley; granddaughter: Dennitia Rushing.
He is survived by three daughters: Edna Slack and husband, Ray of Monroe, Becky Jones and husband, Tommy of Oak Grove, Christy Johnson and husband, Kenny of Rayville; son: Charles P. Cook, Jr. and wife, Mickie of Bonita; three brothers, three sisters, eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday at Golden's from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM.

DR. MARGARET STUNTZ COON
Mulhearn Funeral Home - Sterlington Rd. Monroe, LA

Services for Dr. Margaret Stuntz Coon, 87, of Monroe, LA, will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, March 5, 2005 in the Chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Rd., Monroe, with Rev. Paul McComack officiating. Interment will follow in Riverview Cemetery.
Dr. Coon died on March 3, 2005, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Dr. Coon grew up as a daughter of a missionary in India. She was a graduate of Florida State College for Women and Tulane College of Medicine.
Dr. Coon was a medical pathologist with St. Francis Medical Center and E.A. Conway Memorial Hospital from 1956 until her retirement in 1987.
Dr. Coon was elected to Who's Who of American Women in 1961. She was a member of the DAR for many years, the Junior League of Monroe, the Northeast Louisiana Orchid Society, and the Ouachita Power Squadron.
Survivors include her husband, Fred A. Coon, Jr.; two sons, Fred A. Coon, III and wife, Harryette of Monroe, LA, and Clyde C. Coon of Houston, TX; brother, Homer C. Stuntz and wife, Billie of Orange, TX; sister, Betty Allen and husband, Dan of Tolland, CT; three grandchildren, Charles C. Coon of Houston, TX; Angela Coon Wendell and husband, David of Sequin, TX; and Fred A. Coon, IV and wife, Kristie of Jonesboro, AR; and great-granddaughter, Victoria Wendell.
Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Saturday at Mulhearn Funeral Home.

MAXINE GRICE HARTZOG

Funeral services for Maxine Grice Hartzog, age 74, will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, March 5, 2005 at Forest Church of God in Oak Grove, LA, with Rev. Jimmie Herring officiating. Burial will follow at Red Wing Cemetery.
Maxine was born on July 26, 1930 in West Carroll Parish, to C.B. and Nannie Grice and died March 2, 2005 at Glenwood Medical Center following a long illness.
Maxine is survived by her two sons and daughter-in-laws: Douglas and Peggy Martin of Downsville, Jerry and Jean Hartzog of Monroe, daughter and son-in-law: Sandra and Ronnie Nugent of Calhoun; daughter: Rhonda Martin of West Monroe; grandchildren: Sgt. Travis Martin, Mike Nugent, Michele Martin Muscarella, Niki Nugent, Jason Hartzog, Josh Hartzog, Jamie Hartzog; four great-grandchildren: brothers and sister-in-laws: Billie and Tommie Grice, James and Lola Grice; sister: Estelle Robertson, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Harold Martin, Harley Grice, Richard Ullibarri, Mike Nugent, and Jason Hartzog.
Special thanks to Dr. Mason at Glenwood Medical Center for the time and compassion he extended to her in the last week, and the Glenwood staff that cared for Her.
Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Church and Saturday from 1:00 PM until service time.

ADDIE NYEASE DUKE HORN
Riser Funeral Home - Columbia, LA

Funeral services for Addie Nyease Duke Horn, 93, of Tyler, Texas, are scheduled for 11:00 AM, Saturday, March 5, 2005 at First Baptist Church in Columbia, Louisiana, with the Reverend Shane Duke and the Reverend Don Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Welcome Home Cemetery in Grayson, under the direction of Riser Funeral Home of Columbia.
Mrs. Horn deceased March 2, 2005 at Park Place Nursing Center in Tyler. Nyease was born June 1, 1911 in Caldwell Parish, Louisiana, to the union of Samuel and Lena Lively Duke.
She lived all her life near her birthplace until moving to Tyler, in 1998. She attended Louisiana Polytechnic Institute in 1929, taught in a one-room school in Caldwell Parish, and married Clyde Horn in 1933.
Later Nyease graduated from Northeast Louisiana College while teaching in elementary classrooms. She retired after many years of service in the Caldwell Parish Schools.
Before moving to Tyler, she was an active member of the Columbia First Baptist Church, Order of Eastern Star, Caldwell Retired Teachers Associated, Top of the Hill Senior Choir, and the Schepis Museum.
In Tyler, she was a member of the Green Acres Baptist Church and a homebound member of the Lydia Class.
Mrs. Horn was preceded in death in by her parents, Samuel and Lena Duke: brothers: Carl and Curtis Duke; sisters: Avis Duke and Roberta Gregory; and her husband: Clyde Horn.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law: Joyce Lynn and Tom Arrington; two granddaughters: April Moore and husband, Mike, Carmen Scott and husband, Tony; six great-grandchildren: Addie, Walker, and Jack Moore, Toni Lynn, Hayden and Cody Scott all of Tyler, and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Pallbearers will be Binus Duke, Richard Brown, Tom Hutson, Jerry Duke, Clint Warner and Carl Duke.
Honorary pallbearers are Herbert Gathright, Wilbur Duke, Merrill McGuffee, Sam Duke, Doyce McGuffee, S.B. Harrelson, Jr., and Kenny Duke. Cecil Palmer Jarrell, Jr., retired dentist passes away on March 3, 2005.
Services will be held at Grace Episcopal Church on Saturday, March 5, 2005 at 2:00 PM with Father Gregg Riley and Father Andrew Powell officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home; Sterlington Rd.
Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on March 4, 2005, at Kilbourne Hall, Grace Episcopal Church.
Dr. Jarrell was born on January 8, 1936 in Monroe, LA. He was the son of Cecil Palmer Jarrell, Sr. and Mary Pearl McClanahan Jarrell. He married Beverly Bonebreak in Martinsburg, PA; on December 30, 1966.
He is survived by his wife and three children, Elizabeth Ann Breard and husband, Chap; Kathryn Suzanne Williams and husband, Kevin; and Cecil Palmer Jarrell, III and wife, Allison; five grandchildren, Brandon Breard, Blair Breard, Clay Williams, Andrew Williams and Cecil Palmer, IV (Drew) all of Monroe, LA. He is survived by one sister, Ann Jarrell of Shreveport, LA; and many nieces and nephews.
Dr. Jarrell attended Georgia Tucker Grammar School, Baylor School for Boys in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and graduated from Neville High School. He attended Westminster Choir College in Princeton, N.J., University School of Dentistry in New Orleans, LA. He served in the Military Service as a Captain in the U.S. Army Dental Corps. He was a member of the Monroe Rotary Club, American Dental Association, Northeast Louisiana Dental Association and the Academy of General Dentistry.
He served as past Chairman of the Department of Surgery and Chief of Surgical Specialties at St. Francis Medical Center, Past President of the Louisiana Academy of General Dentistry and was a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry.
He was the Past President and Paul Harris Fellow of the Monroe Rotary Club, Past President of the Monroe Little Theater Board of Directors, and Past President of the Northeast Louisiana Arts Council.
Dr. Jarrell was the recipient of the Distinguished Service Award from the Louisiana Dental Association in 1999, and the Mark Locantro Award from the Louisiana Academy of General Dentistry in 2000.
A lover of the theatre, who performed in numerous theatrical productions, he received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Strauss Theatre in 2001. Dr. Jarrell was a member of Grace Episcopal Church, where he served as a member of the vestry.
The family is especially grateful to Caregiver, Patrick Barber, for his many years of dedication and care.
Pallbearers will be Barrie Barringer, Armand Breard, John Birdsong, Dr. White Graves, Carrick Inabnett, Dr. Howard John, Dr. Ralph King, and Dr. James Padgett.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Northeast Louisiana Dental Association.
Memorial may be given to Grace Episcopal Church or the Strauss Theater of Monroe.

She retired in 1982 from the Union Parish School System as a schoolbus owner-operator for 40 years.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Marion, and was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, W.T. "Dick" Miller in 1990.
