Services for Mr. George M. Adkins, 86, of Monroe, will be held at 2:00 PM March 9, 2005, in the Chapel of Mulhearn Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Rd., Monroe. Interment will follow in Mulhearn Memorial Park Mausoleum.
Mr. Adkins died on March 8, 2005 at West Carroll Care Center. He was a veteran of WWII serving as a Master Sgt.
Survivors include his wife, Pinkie Anne Adkins; three daughters, Julia R. Guice and husband, Olen; Susan Adkins; and Gail Adkins; and three grandchildren.

Mrs. Antley was born on September 11, 1920 to the union of Sam and Mary Lee Taylor and died Tuesday, March 8, 2005 at the Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria, after a brief illness.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Columbia, were she served her Lord for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents and by Charles Page, Sr., her husband and father of her children.
Survivors include her husband: Mitchell E. Antley, a son: Buddy Page and his wife: Carolyn, her daughters: Barbara Stamper and her husband: Leeman, Mary Alice Caraway and her husband: Walter and Pat Wyant and her husband: Ron all of Columbia, her grandchildren: Carla Jacobson, Scott Page, Michael Stamper, Charles Caraway, Sandy Caraway, Spencer Roberts, Nicole Carr, Meghan Marak, Crystal Duff and Jana Steele, thirteen great-grandchildren, two brothers: Charles Taylor of West Monroe, and Wesley Taylor and his wife: Mary Lou of Monroe; her extended family: Mitchell A. Antley of Rocky Branch, Rebekeh Postlethwait of Fulton, AR, Eddie Antley of Shreveport, and Jerry Antley of Dallas, TX.
Pallbearers will be Scott Page, Michael Stamper, Charles Caraway, Sandy Caraway, Spencer Roberts, Denious Jacobsen, Tommy Duff and Dusty Steele. Honorary pallbearers are V.H. Osteen, Max Shores, Jackie Barrett, Glen Meredith, Bill Buris, Albert Lee Winters and Dr. Linus Carroll. Troy Dennard officiating. Interment will be in Stevenson Cemetery, under the direction of Brown-Holley Funeral Home, Rayville, LA.
Mrs. Ruby Clack was born on August 2, 1906 in Clinton, LA, and passed away on Monday, March 7, 2005 in Rayville, LA. Mrs. Clack and her husband, O.T. Clack were owners of Clack's Grocery; north of Holly Ridge, and operated the store beginning in the early 1950's until the 1990's.
She was a member of West Home. She served for many years as a Sunday School Teacher of the Adult Women's Class, during one period of seven years, she never missed a class.
She was preceded in death by her husband, O.T. Clack; parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. A. McKnight; brothers, Dewey, Norman and Walter McKnight; sister, Lottie Stokes; grandchildren, Mike and Susan Clack; son-in-law, Jyles Hardy.
Survivors include her daughter, Martiel Hardy of Rayville, LA; sons: Clayden Clack and wife, Myrtis of Rayville, Lamar Clack and wife, Hilda of Tallulah, LA; sisters: Doris Becker of Maron City, Iowa, Katherine McKnight of Rayville, LA, Sarah Lou Turner of Seagraves, TX; ten grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren.

Service for Mr. Truman Ewing, 80, of Monroe, will be held at 3:30 PM Wednesday, March 9, 2005, in the Mulhearn Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel, with Rev. William Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Ewing died on March 7, 2005, at North Monroe Medical Center. He was an Air Force Veteran of World War II and a member of Lakeshore Baptist Church. Mr. Ewing was retired from the Rack Service in Monroe.
Survivors include his daughter, Sue Smith and husband, Terry of Diamondhead, MS; brother, Luther Ewing of Benton, LA; and sister, Lottie Beasley of Dallas, TX.

MRS. JO HELEN FULLER GREENE

Funeral services for Mrs. Jo Helen Fuller Greene will be 10:00 AM, Thursday, March 10, 2005 at First Baptist Church Feazel Chapel in West Monroe, LA. Officiating will be Rev. Scotty Sanders and Rev. Mark Fenn. Interment will follow at Hamilton Cemetery in Dubach, LA. Mrs. Greene was born on May 31, 1930 and passed away on March 7, 2005.
Mrs. Greene was a member of First Baptist Church for fifty years, where she was actively involved in the WMU, the Preschool and children's ministries, and a member of the Agape Sunday School Class. She was a graduate of Dubach High School and Louisiana Tech University. Mrs. Greene was a school teacher for thirty years, having taught in Logtown, and Kiroli Schools. Following retirement, she was a substitute teacher for the Ouachita Parish Schools for twenty years.
Mrs. Greene was a judge for the Social Science Fair at Highland, Kiroli, and ULM. She was a member of the Cultura Book Club and Delta Kappa Gamma Society. She is survived by her husband, Mr. Louis A. Greene; children: Greg Greene and wife, Julie, Alan Greene and wife, Kathy; grandchildren: Daniel and Emily Greene, Ashley Lambert, Tryston Miller, Jackson Greene; brothers: Charles C. Fuller and wife, Glenda Sue of Dubach, LA, and Robert Roy Fuller and wife, Jerene of Ruston, LA. Pallbearers will be Jon Williams, Charles Marchbanks, Kevin Steven, Doug Fuller, Jeff Albright and Rev. John Albright.

Services for Mr. Glenn Ray Johnston, age 61, of Columbia, LA, died Monday, March 7, 2005 at Haven Nursing Center in Columbia, LA. He was retired Carpenter and served in the National Guard. He was born on December 18, 1943 at Sikes, LA, to the union of his parents, the late Daniel Ivy Johnston, and Claudia Ora Hattaway Johnston. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Shelby Johnston and two sisters, Anne J. Witherington and Myrtle J. Ramsey.
Survivors include his wife, Bernice Johnston of Houston, TX; step-daughter: Madeline Green of Texas; sons and daughters-in-law: James and Lori Johnston of Columbia, LA, Shawn and Karen Johnston of Nebo, LA, Daniel and Bonnie Johnston of Holum, LA, Robert and Terri Hay of Houston, TX; sisters: Floyce Johnston of West Monroe, LA, Mildred J. Buford of Hobbs, NM, Marilyn and her husband, Frank Miller of West Monroe, Lois and her husband, Clyde Morgan of West Monroe; brothers: Billy Ray Johnston of West Monroe, LA, Gary Johnston of Minden, LA, Rodney Lee "R.L." and wife, Alice Johnston of Houston, TX; grandchildren: Alecia, Tara, Case, Paige, Dusty, Johnathan, Emily, and Ellen.

MRS. LOUISE HORNSBY MCCARTER

Services for Mrs. Louise Hornsby McCarter of Monroe, will be held at 10:00AM Thursday, March 10, 2005, at the First Presbyterian Church in Monroe, with Dr. Allison Moody officiating. Interment will follow in Vienna Cemetery in Ruston, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Rd., Monroe.
Mrs. McCarter died on March 7, 2005 at North Monroe Medical Center.
Mrs. McCarter was born on Friday, August 13, 1922, in Vienna, Louisiana, near Cypress Creek North of Ruston, Louisiana. Her family moved to Ruston, so that she could start school.
She went from the first grade all the way through college on the Louisiana Tech campus, graduating in Home Economics, and was later on the Louisiana Tech Home Economics Advisory Board. She also attended Louisiana State University of Arkansas, where she selected other studies of lifetime interest including art and anthropology.
Louise taught school at a number of places in North Louisiana. During World War II, she worked in the laboratory for Standard Oil Co. in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where they further developed synthetic rubber needed to win the war.
On June 2, 1946, she married John H. McCarter, Jr. They lived a while in Ruston, where her husband taught at Louisiana Tech. They moved to Monroe, Louisiana, in 1951.
She was the first president of the Faculty Wives Club at Northeast Louisiana State College. She was an early member and head of the Monroe Beautification Board and won five "Pacesetter" awards and a Distinguished Service Award for Outstanding Contribution to the City of Monroe, during the Mayor Jack Howard administration. She represented Monroe, in New York City, to accept the Keep America Beautiful Award given by Lady Bird Johnson.
She was a member of Chapter AE of P.E.O. and was a sustaining alumnus of Zeta Tau Alpha.
Mrs. McCarter has won many ribbons for flower arranging and was a Master Flower Show Judge Emeritus. She was a member of the Fifth District Flower Show Judges Council of the National Garden Clubs, Inc., honorary member and past president of the Bayou Desiard Garden Club, and honorary member and past president of the Monroe Garden Club. She was chosen for the Circle of Roses by the Louisiana Garden Club Federation, Inc.
Louise was a ordained elder at the First Presbyterian Church of Monroe, and past president of the Ladies of the Church. She was a past president of the Sherrouse School P.T.A., a member of the English Speaking Union, the Northeast Archeological Society, Northeast Bird Club, Twentieth Century Book Club, life member of the National Knife Collections Association, and original member of the North Monroe Hospital Auxiliary.
Having been born near Cypress Creek, she expressed a desire to always be where she could see the water. This was attained by having a home in Monroe, on the banks of Bayou Desiard, a manor house on the shore of Loch Awe., in Scotland, and a villa overlooking the Mediterranean in Spain. She has been around the world and had adventures in many countries in all of which she bought something to bring home.
Survivors include her husband of 58 years, John H. McCarter, Jr. of Monroe, LA; three sons, John H. McCarter, III and wife, Melissa of West Monroe, LA; Allen Glen McCarter and wife, Tamra Lynette; and Forrest Lee McCarter all of Monroe, LA; brother, William Burke Hornsby and wife, JoAnn of Highlands, NC; five grandchildren, Claire Ellen McCarter, John Allen McCarter, Paul William McCarter, Anna Louise McCarter, and Laura Lynn McCarter; and by her first and only pet Nannette Sasafras "Sassy" McCarter, a black female toy poodle.
Pallbearers will be John Allen McCarter, Paul William McCarter, Willie Lyles, Vernon Whitlock, Clyde White, and James McCullin. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Wednesday, at Mulhearn Funeral Home.

MRS. MARY LEE MOELTER

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Lee Moelter, 80, of West Monroe, will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, March 10, 2005 at St. Paschal's Catholic Church in West Monroe, with Rev. Mike Haney officiating. Burial will be in Clark Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Moelter died March 7, 2005 at Glenwood Regional Medical Center in West Monroe. She was a member of the St. Paschal's Catholic Church in West Monroe, and was an avid art painter.
Mrs. Moelter is preceded in death by her husband, Edward Joseph Moelter, Sr., parents, James and Bessie Sturdivant, great-grandson, Wesley Phillips, and sister, LaVerne Shell.
Survivors include her children, Judy Phillips and husband, William, Major Stanley Mark Lyons, Sr., and wife Toni, James E. Rigal, Jr. and wife, Kay, Linda Rigal Branch and husband, Gary, eleven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Jay Rigal, Chad Rigal, Devin Branch, James Phillips, William Dale Phillips and Dickie Shell.

MR. WILLIAM KIRTLEY RUSSELL, Doctor of Education
Mulhearn Funeral Home - Sterlington Rd., Monroe, LA

William Kirtley Russell, Ed. D, retired professor of Administration and Supervision at NLU died on March 7, 2005, following an extended illness.
He was born October 7, 1912 in Cleburne, Texas, son of the late Charles Isaac and India Pearl Kirtley Russell, and the grandson of early Johnson County settlers.
He graduated from Cleburne High School, then went to Ouachita Baptist College, where he received a Bachelor of Music degree. Later, he went to Texas Christian University and earned Bachelor and Master of Science degrees.
He completed the course work for a Ph. D. degree at the University of Texas, and then transferred to the University of Houston where he earned a Doctor of Education degree. Experience as a teacher and administrator in several school districts in Texas, preceded his coming to Northeast in 1957.
He enjoyed having many teachers and administrators from this part of Louisiana, in his classes as they worked on Masters, Plus 30, and Doctor's degrees. He retired in 1978.
When Bill lived on the Texas coast, he was an avid fisherman and hunter. Later, he began to play golf and played many courses across the south from Arizona, to Florida, as well as Mexico, and Costa Rica. He was very interested in Meso-Americas ancient cities and had visited all the major archeological sites in Mexico, and Central America.
He had also been an amateur radio operator for many years and held an Extra Class license. KE5YO is now a silent key.
He is survived by his wife, Jane M. Russell of Monroe, and his daughter, Luann Russell Hardek of Jemez Springs, NM.
The nurses and entire staff of Christus St. Joseph's Nursing Home are deeply appreciated for the care and kindness shown to Bill during the past two years, and JoJo for being his faithful companion.
Arrangements are under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home in Monroe, and Mayfield Funeral Home in Cleburne, TX. Graveside services will be held at the Cleburne Memorial Cemetery, with burial in the Russell family plot.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years: Mary Ellen Trull Sanderson of Monroe, LA; sisters: Melbaline S. Sills and husband, Robert of West Monroe, LA, Shirley S. Edwards of West Monroe, LA; brother: Malcolm H. Sanderson and wife, Geraldine of Winnsboro, LA; sister-in-law: Patricia Ann T. Hendricks and husband, Don of Dallas, TX. He enjoyed woodworking, writing poetry and enjoyed his profession of truck driving.

Mrs. Steele was born on April 13, 1914 Simsboro, LA, and passed away on March 7, 2005 in Monroe, LA.
Mrs. Steele was a former owner and operator of Steele Lumber Co., with her husband, James C. Steele, Jr. She was a member of the Highland Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Steele was a active member of the Daughters of American Revolution (D.A.R) and Member of Monroe Junior League. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. James C. Steele, Jr., a brother, Charles Preaus and grandson, Jamie Bassett. She is survived by her two children: Jim Steele, III and wife, Gloria and Linda Steele Bassett and husband, Glen; sister: Delores Moffiet; four grandchildren: Tuck Bassett, John Bassett, Cam Steele and John Steele; four great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
