TOM RAY AYRES
Edmonds Funeral Home - Jonesboro, LA

Tom Ray Ayres, 68, longtime journalist and author, Tom Ray Ayres, 68, died March 6, 2005.
As a columnist and regular contributor to The Jackson Independent sports pages, Ayres was well-known throughout Jackson Parish, for his many works.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until noon on March 12, 2005 at Edmonds Funeral Home. A chapel service will begin at noon on March 12, 2005 with a procession to Midway Baptist Church immediately following.
Mr. Ayres served for more than 25 years as a newspaper and broadcast journalist. He was a reporter and state features writer for The Dallas Times Herald. He was also an investigative reporter for ABC's WFAA-TV in Dallas.
Mr. Ayres served as editor for several national magazines and was the publisher of a weekly newspaper, Seagoville Star. He was also a news anchor for KTOC in Jonesboro.
Mr. Ayres received over 20 awards for excellence in journalism from The Associated Press, United Press International and other new organizations. He was the winner of the "News Story of the Year" award from the Dallas Press Club, the "Southwest Journalism Award" from Southern Methodist University and "Best Column Award" for a weekly newspaper from the Louisiana Press Association, as well as the author of four books.
Mr. Ayres was born July 29, 1936 to the late Tommie Ayres and Mary Alice Jones Ayres. He was preceded in death by his wife, Beatrice Pearl Ponder Ayres. Mr. Ayres is survived by sons, Thomas Ray Ayres, III of Houston, Texas, and John Prescott Ayres and wife, Kumiko Akama of New Orleans; daughters, Lisa Anne Ayres and husband, Hector Lasala of Lafayette, and Terri Lynn Ayres of West Palm Beach, Florida; brothers, Robert Gerald Ayres and wife, Rosemary of Franklin, Louisiana, and Travis Lamar Ayres and wife, Elizabeth of Bentonville, Arkansas; grandson, Jesse Alexander Lasala Ayres of Lafayette; granddaughter, Carmen Isabel Lasala Ayres of Lafayette, and a host of nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking those concerned to donate either to the Jackson Heritage Museum, Jackson Parish Library or Jonesboro Downtown Development Corporation. Services will be under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Mrs. Margaret R. Crowe, age 88, will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, March 10, 2005 at First United Methodist Church in Oak Grove, LA, with Rev. Byron Putnam and Rev. Chad Ballard officiating. Interment will follow at New Forest Cemetery in Forest, LA, under the direction of Cox Funeral Homes of Oak Grove, LA.
Mrs. Crowe was a resident of Forest, LA. She was born on December 8, 1916 in D'Lo, MS, and passed away on March 8, 2005 at Richland Parish Hospital-Delhi in Delhi, LA.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Melvin Crowe; her parents, Joe Thomas Ross and Lillie Ross; three brothers: Willie Ray Ross, Charles Ellis Ross and Rufus Ross, Sr., and two sisters, Mary Duncanson and Jolene Russell.
She is survived by six daughters: Betty Butler and husband, Chris of Forest, LA, Virginia Johnson and husband, Alvin of Transylvania, LA, Carolyn Mercer and husband, John of Oak Grove, LA; Melba Craft and husband, Robert of Monroe, LA; Linda Thornhill of Forest, LA, and Brenda Eaton of Forest, LA; two brothers: Ralph Ross of Roseville, CA, and C.W. Ross of Puckett, MS; four sisters: Annie Lee Kennedy of Puckett, MS, Myrtle Harper of Alexandria, LA, Kitty Lambert of Baton Rouge, LA, and Lillian Dowling of Hammond, IN; ten grandchildren; and twenty-one great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Gregg Johnson, Brad Johnson, Chris Johnson, Jason Thornhill, Paul Eaton and Kent Chapman.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Tommy Roberson, Jimmy Bruce, Matthew Craft, Jill Roberson, Romy Bruce, Kelly McIntyre and Lee McIntyre.

MRS. CORA "BILLIE" BOGGS DAVID
Mulhearn Funeral Home - Monroe, LA

Service for Mrs. Cora "Billie" Boggs David, 96, of Monroe, will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, March 11, 2005, at St. Matthew's Catholic Church, with Rev. Joseph Robert Inzina and Rev. Joseph Puthuppally officiating. Interment will follow in St. Matthew's Catholic Church Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Rd., Monroe.
Mrs. David died on March 8, 2005, at St. Francis Medical Center.
She was a longtime member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church and later attended St. Matthew's Catholic Church. Mrs. David was employed by Gus and Marie Antis and worked for many years at the gift shops of Ramada Inn and the Holidome. She always considered Gus and Marie, Ed Rutledge, Don O'Toole and the Holidome staff as family. "Billie" (as she was known to many of her closest friends) had a contagious laugh and always lived life to the fullest.
Throughout her 96 years, she was blessed with a vivid memory and told amazing stories about her childhood. She continued to be conscientious about her appearance, liked pretty clothes and having her hair and nails done at Cloyd's. Until the time Mrs. David entered the hospital, she enjoyed cooking for her family.
Mrs. David took delight in a little Chihuahua named Paco, whom she regarded as her faithful "guardian." She loved all of her family deeply, but her greatest joy in the last seventeen months was Anna Beth, her great-granddaughter, who was the light of her Ma Maw's life. Mrs. David was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America. She was preceded in death by her husband, Philip David; two brothers, James Boggs and J. B. Boggs; and sister, Lillian Mulitz.
Survivors include her daughter, Phyllis King and husband, Ted; two grandchildren, Wendy Houston and husband, Jason; Jeff King and wife, Lindsay; great-grandchild, Anna Beth Houston; special nieces, Lillian Fletcher, Beth Halbrook, and Mary Catherine Jackson; and a host of other nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie Sharp, Fred Kanter, Billy Abbott, Samuel Kneipp, Don O'Toole, and Don Spatafora.
Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Thursday, March 10, 2005, at Mulhearn Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to St. Vincent De Paul Pharmacy.

Mr. Graham, a retired tax assessor for Union Parish, died Wednesday, March 9th. He was a member of Franklin Street Baptist Church, retired from Union Parish Volunteer Fire Dept, was past president of the Farmerville Jaycees, past president of Farmerville Lion's Club, and served on the Board of Directors and as past president of the LA Tax Association.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Lonie Graham and sister, Shirley Graham.
He is survived by his father, Bro. M. L. Graham, Sr. and step-mother, Peggy Graham of Farmerville; wife, Nita Graham of Farmerville; one son, Aubrey L. Graham and wife, Martie Graham of Farmerville; two daughters: Kathy Davidson and husband, Donald Lee Davidson of Farmerville; and Sherry Bowen and husband, Keith Bowen of Farmerville; two brothers: Sherward Graham and Elvin Graham, both of Farmerville; one sister, Nelda Williams of Spearsville; five grandchildren: Christopher Davidson, Brandi Thomas, Heather Chellette, Cara Marie Bowen, Cade Bowen; and two great-grandchildren: Madison Thomas and Noah Thomas.
Pallbearers are Joe Cusimano, Donnie Tucker, Lane Brothers, Glen Smith, Jr. Johnson and Danny Eddy.

GRADY T. HINTON, JR.
Olla, LA.
Grady T. Hinton, 91, of Olla, Louisiana, died Tuesday, March 8, 2005. You know and remember him as "Bud" or "Neighbor." He was preceded in death by Audie, his wife of seventy-one years; his daughter, Frances Hinton Wyant; and a sister, Alice Thomas.
He is survived by a son, Grady Hinton, III and his wife, Patty; a brother, Quincy Hinton; six grandchildren, Tom Wyant, Micah Hebert, Amy Hebert, Stephanie Wright, Brad Hinton and Tim Wyant; and seven great-grandchildren.
Bud attended Louisiana College on a football scholarship, and he and Audie married soon after he started College.
Neighbor, as he was known when he worked offshore, completed 28 years with Shell Oil Company, most of that time as a supervisor on offshore drilling platforms.
After retiring from Shell Oil at age 60, Neighbor Hinton returned to the work he loved as a consultant with Tennico Oil Company and worked another 19 years.
The four important areas of his life were God, family, work and fishing. Bud was a Mason and a member of First Baptist Church. He established a benevolence fund at his church and gave his time and money to help others.
He also volunteered at a mission in Jena. He loved his wife and family and was devoted to them. All were influenced and helped by him. He had an amazing work ethic and found great satisfaction in his work. He loved fishing and all who spent time fishing with him were blessed by the experience.
In an interview two years ago he said, "I'm just thankful to God for all He has done for me in my life. I was able to marry a good lady and raise some good kids now that is something that a lot of people can't say. I have really enjoyed this life that God has given me."
Visitation will be 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Thursday evening at First Baptist Church in Olla.
The service will be Friday at 11:00 AM at FBC Olla. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be sent to Olla Relief Fund, P.O. Box 368, Olla, LA 71465

ROBERT ALFRED "BUD" OWENS, SR.

Mr. Owens, a logger and avid outdoorsman, died March 9, 2005.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
Mr. Owens is survived by: two sons: Bubba Owens & wife, Carolyn of Downsville, and Shelton Owens & wife, Rhonda of Downsville; two daughters: Tammy Moore of Lake Charles, LA, and Lisa Judkins & husband, Paul of Downsville; two brothers: Wayne Owens of West Monroe, and Tom Owens of Eros; five grandchildren: John Eyster, Courtney Eyster, Whitney Owens, Sumer Patrick, and Sonny Judkins; four step-grandchildren: Jennifer Caskey, Jessica Shaw, Jesse Judkins, and Allen Powell; two great-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild.

Mrs. Thompson was born on October 7, 1912 in Newton, MS, and passed away on March 7, 2005 in Pembroke, KY. She was a member of College Place Baptist Church of Monroe, LA, and a retired food service employee at N.L.U.
She was preceded in death by her husband, C.D. Thompson, Sr. and a great-grandchild, Elizabeth Thompson.
Mrs. Thompson is survived by four children: Charles D. Thompson and wife, Bonnie, Juanita Hendrix and husband, John, Thomas E. Thompson and wife, Barbara, Ron Thompson and wife, Susan; two brothers: Otto Parker and Roger Parker; two sisters: Audy Anderson and Ruth Guraedy; eight grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Williams, a resident of Columbia, LA, was born on September 9, 1925 and passed away on Wednesday, March 9, 2005 at LaSalle General Hospital in Jena, LA.
Mr. Williams was the son of the late W. Williams and the late Mollie (Lowe) Williams. He was a 36-year resident of Caldwell Parish. He was a retired employee of the Caldwell Parish Police Jury, as well as a member of the Reorganized Latter Day Saints.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Bonnie Williams of Columbia, LA; three sons: David A. Williams and wife, Betty of Grayson, LA, Jeffrey I. Williams and wife, Rhonda of Columbia, LA, and Jody L. Williams and wife, Kelly of Grayson, LA; two daughters, Kim Bradley and husband, John of Grayson, LA, and Sylvia Simmons and husband, Clint of Grayson, LA; thirteen grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Glen Dunn, Brian Dunn, Jason Dunn, Ralph Simmons, Jonathan Williams, and David Dewayne Williams.
