MRS. TEMPIE BLACK
Kilpatrick Funeral Home - West Monroe, Louisiana

Funeral services for Mrs. Tempie Black, 93, of West Monroe, LA, will be 2:00 PM, Wednesday, March 23, 2005 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home, West Monroe, LA, with Rev. Danny McIlveene officiating.
Interment will be at Monroe Memorial Park, Monroe, LA, under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home, West Monroe, LA.
Mrs. Black was born on October 9, 1911 in Ouachita Parish, LA, and passed away March 21, 2005 in West Monroe, LA.
Mrs. Black was preceded in death by her husband, J.L. Black and a granddaughter, Karen Black Brown.
Survivors are three children: Eugene Black and wife, Delores, Ronald Black, Donald Black and wife, Marilyn; two sisters, Sadie Nobis and Jo Tyler; seven grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Carl Jackson, Jay Coon, Randy Tyler, Ryan Evans, Mike Perkins, and Kevin Perkins.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 12:00 noon until service time at Kilpatrick Funeral Home, West Monroe, LA.

MELVIN JAMES DUVALL
Mulhearn Funeral Home - West Monroe, Louisiana

Graveside services for Melvin James Duvall, 71, of West Monroe, will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, March 24, 2005 at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Calhoun, LA, with Rev. Mike Haney officiating.
Mr. Duvall died March 21, 2005 at the Glenwood Regional Medical Center in West Monroe.
Mr. Duvall was a retired insurance broker, and was an active member of the Dixie Youth Baseball, serving on the Board of Directors for many years.
He was a former member of the Knights of Pythias, Monroe Jaycees, and the Monroe Police Department Reserve Unit.
Mr. Duvall was an avid hunter, where he passed the respect and appreciation for the outdoors to his children.
He was an avid computer user with many e-mail friends all over the world.
Mr. Duvall was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving in the Korean Conflict.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Duvall; children: Debra Clouatre and husband, Lionel of Gladewater, TX, Rick Duvall and wife, Heike of Heidelburg, Germany, Sherry Meeks and husband, Mike of West Monroe, and Mike Duvall and wife, Trish of Converse, LA; grandchildren: Jessica Clouatre, Natalie Clouatre, Stacey Duvall, Clint Duvall, Mitzi Duvall, Renee Duvall, Michael Meeks, Joshua Meeks and wife, Pam, and Ali Duvall; and great-grandson, Cayden Meeks.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Freddy Autrey, Guy Woodard, Nick DeCorte, Mike Meuwly and Bill Somerville.
Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until service time at Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

ATSY S. EMERSON
Mulhearn Funeral Home - Monroe, Louisiana

Services for Mrs. Atsy S. Emerson will be 11:00 AM, Thursday, March 24, 2004, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe with the Rev. David Mayo officiating.
Interment will follow in Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Emerson died on March 22, 2005 at Glenwood Hospital, West Monroe, after a lengthy illness.
She was preceded in death by her husband John Mack Emerson, of sixty years.
Mrs. Emerson is survived by her children: Mary E. Wilson of West Monroe, John Howard Emerson of Monroe, Joyce Folds and husband, Dr. Calvin B. Folds of West Monroe; one brother, Philo Smith; one sister, Mable Storm; eight grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until time for the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Louisiana Scottish Rite Foundation for Speech and Hearing, 2005 University Ave., Monroe, LA.
Special thanks to all of the nurses and CNA's for their excellent care of my mother on the 4th floor of skilled nursing.

BOYCE GIBSON GREER
Carrollton, TX

Boyce Gibson Greer, 82, passed away on Friday, March 18, 2005.
She died of natural causes at the Autumn Leaves Alzheimer's Care Center in Carrollton, Texas.
Boyce was a lifetime resident of Monroe, and attended Lakeshore Baptist Church.
She retired from Riverwood International in West Monroe, Louisiana, after many years of service in the Personnel Department.
Her husbands, Stephen Martin Gibson, Sr., and Waple W. Greer, preceded her in death.
Her sons, Steve Gibson, Jr., Slidell, LA; Michael Gibson, Allentown, PA; and Harry Gibson, Grand Prairie, TX survive her.
Her extended family include two sisters, Doris Popwell, Spencer, LA, and May Jordan, Dallas, TX, and ten great-grandchildren and seven grandchildren.
A memorial service will be officiated by Pastor Billy Carter at the Spencer Baptist Church, Hwy 143, Spencer, Louisiana, on Good Friday, March 25, 2005 at 11:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, send donations to the Spencer Baptist Church.

MRS. JOYCE DUMAS STRICKLAND
Mulhearn Funeral Home - Monroe, Louisiana

Service for Mrs. Joyce Dumas Strickland, 77, of Monroe, LA, will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, March 24, 2005, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Rd., Monroe, with Rev. Danny McIlveene officiating.
Interment will follow in Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Strickland died March 22, 2005, at St. Francis Medical Center.
She was a member of Highland Park Baptist Church of Monroe.
Mrs. Strickland was preceded in death by her husband, Clifton Strickland; father and mother, Jessie and Margaret Dumas; brother, George Dumas; sister, Margie Beezley; and son-in-law, Marvin Smith.
Survivors include her children: daughter, Dianne Smith of Monroe, LA; three sons: Gary Strickland and wife, Donna of Monroe, LA; George Strickland and wife, Barbie of West Monroe, LA; and Dennis Strickland and wife, Martha of Monroe, LA; daughter-in-law, Carmel Brown Strickland; five grandchildren: Kim Tharp, Ricky Smith, Michelle Rogers, Riley Strickland, and John Wesley Strickland; and five great-grandchildren: Alan Tharp, Anna Tharp, Tiffany Smith, Richard Riley Smith, Jr., and Dylan Rogers.
Pallbearers will be Ricky Smith, Riley Strickland, John Wesley Strickland, Stan Beezley, LaRoy Dumas, and Russell Dumas.
Honorary pallbearer will be Jimmy Morris.
Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Wednesday at Mulhearn Funeral Home.
The family would like to express a special thanks to St. Francis Specialty Hospital and The Oaks Nursing Home for their loving care.

Services are 2 p.m. today at Kilpatrick Funeral Home, West Monroe.
Visitation is noon until services begin at the funeral home.
Burial will be at Monroe Memorial Park, Monroe.

Betty Lou Brown, 81

Betty Lou Brown of Monroe, a homemaker, died Monday.
Services are 1 p.m. today at St. Mark's United Methodist Church.
Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery, under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home, Monroe.

Emery Leo Cathey, 95

JONESBORO Emery Leo Cathey, a retired construction company owner, died Monday.
Services are 2 p.m. today at Edmonds Funeral Home Chapel, Jonesboro.
Burial will follow at Jonesboro Cemetery.

Marcus S. Davis, 32

HOUSTON Marcus S. Davis, a loader at Wal-Mart Super Center, died Sunday.
Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at the Ruston Civic Center.
Wake services are 6-7 p.m. Friday at King Funeral Home Chapel, Ruston.
Burial will be at St. Peter Cemetery.

Clyde Edwards, 90

CLARKS Clyde Edwards, a retired carpenter, died Tuesday.
Arrangements are incomplete under the direction of Riser Funeral Home, Columbia.

Atsy Smith Emerson, 87

Atsy Smith Emerson of West Monroe, a retired nurse's aid, died Tuesday.
Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at Mulhearn Funeral Home Chapel, Monroe.
Visitation is 9 a.m. Thursday until services begin at the funeral home.
Burial will be at Mulhearn Memorial Park.

Maurine Hankins, 62

EL DORADO, Ark. Maurine Hankins, formerly of Taylortown, self-employed, died Sunday.

Dorothy Harmon, 81

TALLULAH Dorothy Harmon, a retired postmaster, died Monday.
Services are 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Edward's Catholic Church.
Visitation is 5-7 p.m. today at Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home, Tallulah.
Burial is at Memorial Park Cemetery.

John R. Shoffner, 71

LAKE ST. JOHN John R. Shoffner, a maintenance foreman for International Paper Company in Natchez, Miss., died Saturday.
Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at Comer Funeral Home Chapel, Ferriday.
Visitation is 5-7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Natchez, Miss.
