Edmund Hobdy Carter, Jr., 81
On January 11, 2005, Edmund Hobdy Carter, Jr. passed from this world to be with his Creator.
Pastor Gene Nix, of Shreve City Baptist Church, will preside over the ceremony to be held on Friday, January 14, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home and Cemetery, 8801 Mansfield Road.
Edmund was born in Rayville, LA, on December 8, 1923.
His parents were Edmund Hobdy Carter, Sr. and Sallie Carter.
He was raised in Sterlington, LA, graduated from Ouachita Parish High School and attended Northeast Louisiana Junior College.
As part of the "Greatest Generation", Edmund served for three years in the U.S. Army, building bridges in France and Germany during World War II.
After the war, he returned to Louisiana Tech and graduated with a degree in mechanical engineering in 1948.
He retired in 1984 after working for thirty-six years for United Gas Pipe Line Company.
Edmund served as a deacon at Lakeshore Baptist Church in Monroe, Louisiana, and at Shreve City Baptist Church, where he retired as Deacon Emeritus.
He was a lifetime member of the Barons of the Magna Carta and the sons of the American Revolution.
Edmund is survived by his wife of nearly fifty-six years, JoAnn Carter; two sons, Charles Edmund Carter of Dallas, TX, and David Warren Carter of Bellingham, WA; a daughter, Nancy Carter Molinaro and her husband, John of Shreveport, LA; two granddaughters, Ashley Carter of Dallas, TX, and Kimberly Molinaro of Shreveport, LA, and special family friends, Peggy Krenz and her son, Linus, of Bellingham, WA.

Mrs. Frances is survived by her son; Richard A. Fisher and wife Martha of Monroe, LA, her grandchildren; Gregory A. Fisher of TX, and Christy Fisher Riser and husband Daniel of Monroe, LA, and her sister; Irene Taylor Lowrey.
She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for infant, Zoe Arie Matthews, two months, of Choudrant, LA, will be 2:00 PM Saturday, January 15, 2005 at Alabama Presbyterian Church.
Interment will be at Sibley Cemetery in Choudrant, under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Ruston.
Zoe passed away Monday, January 10, 2005 in Springhill, LA.
She is survived by her parents Heather Lyn Brown and Jacob Edward Matthews both of Choudrant, LA; grandparents, Brenda and Don Matthews of Choudrant, LA, Dixie Womble of Monroe, LA, and Dain Robertson of Hammond, LA; great-grandparents, Myrtis Morgan of Choudrant, LA, Dwight and Delores Brown of Monroe, LA, Sandra Jacka of Winnsboro, LA, and Eddie Robertson of Hammond, LA; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Services for Ronald Lynn Floyd, age 45, of Columbia, will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, January 15, 2005, at Columbia Heights Baptist Church, with Rev. Bruce McGee officiating.
Interment will follow in the Welcome Home Cemetery in Grayson.
Mr. Floyd was born in Shreveport, on March 16, 1959 and died Tuesday, January 11, 2005 at Hardtner Medical Center in Urania.
He was employed as fiber optic cable installer.
He was also a member of the Columbia Heights Baptist Church.
He loved to restore old cars.
He was preceded in death by his father: Wayne "Skinny" Floyd.
Survivors include his sons: Kevin Lynn Floyd and Randy Floyd both of Atlanta, GA, his mother: Effie R. Floyd of Columbia, his brothers and sisters-in-law: Bobby Joe and Sheila Floyd of Columbia, and Billy Wayne and Cathy Floyd of Spokane, WA, his half-brother: James Dale Floyd and his wife, Wanda of Clovis, New Mexico, and special friends: Christy and Ronald Glenn and Tammy and Dan Carr.
Visitation will be Thursday from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM and Friday from 8:00 AM until service time at Columbia Heights Baptist Church.

Funeral services for Margie Chapman Kees of Ruston, LA, will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, January 14, 2005 at Grace Methodist Church in Ruston, LA.

Margie was born on January 6, 1923 in Olla, LA.
She married C.E. "Buster" Kees on December 26, 1941 and they have resided in Ruston, for the last fifty-six years.
On the morning of January 11, 2005, she was called home to glory.
She is now doing the boogie-woogie through the streets of heaven, with Al Hurt playing in the background.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ida and Randolph Chapman.
She is survived by her husband of sixty-three years, C.E. "Buster" Kees and daughter, Glenda Leigh, both of Ruston; daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Chris Stone of Choudrant; daughter and son-in-law, Kristy and Craig Bowler of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren: Kate Leigh of Tempe, AZ; Nathan Leigh of Portland, OR; Adele and Audrey Bowler of Atlanta, GA; and great-grandchild, Connor Donovan of Tempe, AZ; sister, Vanessa White of West Monroe, LA; brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Mary Chapman of Lakeland, FL; Ken and Ruby Chapman of Eunice, LA; Sid and Carolyn Chapman of Garland, TX.
She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and friends to cherish her memory.
Margie retired from Lewis & Company in Ruston, after twenty-five years of employment.
After retirement, she volunteered at her church and as a Pink Lady at Lincoln General Hospital.
With the aging process, dementia became prominent, especially during the latter years of her life.
Although her memory was failing, her Southern charm common to our Steel Magnolia's prevailed.
She remained happy and full of love for her family.
Pallbearers will be Nathan Leigh, Dale White, Jerry Grigsby and Ron Chapman.
Memorials may be made to the Stone Theater at Louisiana Tech University, Grace Methodist Church, or the Methodist Children's Home.
Visitation will be at the Family Life Center of Grace Methodist Church on Thursday, January 13, 2005 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
