Services for Mr. Thomas A. Farmer will be at 10:00 AM, Thursday, March 31, 2005, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, with Rev. John Langham officiating.
Interment will be in Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Thomas A. Farmer left this world to join his Lord on March 27, 2005 at St. Francis Medical Center, after a lengthy illness.
He was 81 years of age.
Tom was born on July 14, 1923 at Uniontown, Pennsylvania, the son of Loring and Harriet Farmer.
He has two sisters: Alice Ann Ridder who resides in Oakland, Maryland, and Lida Rose Robinson of Port Orange, Florida.
Tom served with the Army Corps of Engineers during WWII in the European and Japanese theaters.
He was awarded a Purple Heart as well as many other decorations.
After returning home from the war, he joined the G.C. Murphy Company in McKeesport, Pennsylvania, in their training program.
For 43 years, he worked his way up in the ranks and finished his career as an Auditor Department head for the Southern Region.
In 1945 he married Catherine Whetzel and to this union was born two children.
He lost Catherine to cancer after 43 years of marriage.
In 2001, he married Phyllis B. O'Banion, who survives.
Survivors also include son, Charles Thomas Farmer and wife, Pam, who reside in Jacksonville, Florida; daughter, Lydia Ann Holland and husband, Steve, who reside in Monroe, LA; four grandchildren: Lorrie Robinson and Rebecca Henry of Jacksonville, Florida; Derel Holland of Monroe, LA; and Jennifer Ingram of Cape Charles, VA.
He was also blessed with five great-grandchildren: Chase Robinson, Makayla and Kendall Henry, Aden and Mason Ingram.
Tom lived a full and complete life.
His 81 years were spent in service to his country, loyalty to his employer, and enjoyment of his many friends and neighbors.
Before his illness, Mr. Farmer served his church, Graceminster Presbyterian, as a session member.
Volunteer work at the Ouachita Council of Aging was his passion.
In 1999, he received the Volunteer of the Year award.
He was a 32-Degree Mason and in 2001, received a 50-year service pin for his membership.
He was a member of the Barak Shrine Temple.
Tom belonged to the American Legion, VFW and Elks Lodge.
He also worked with the High 12 Club and enjoyed donning his red jacket to help out at the ULM Football and Basketball games.
Pallbearers will be Tom McCann, Don Hereford, Glen Ham, James Free, Gene Hodges, Derel Holland, and Bill Schulte.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Staff of Monroe Kidney Center, Robert F. Sarama M.D., Renal Associates, and Emile A Barrow, Jr., M.D. and Associates.
Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Wednesday, March 30, 2005, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.

Mrs. Fischer died Saturday, March 26, 2005, at Matthews Memorial Nursing Home, Alexandria, LA.
She graduated from Monroe City High School in 1930.
In her senior year, she received an award for the paper judged best in Louisiana, on the subject, "How May the Pact for the Renunciation of War Be Made Effective."
In 1934, she received her A.B. Degree from Randolph Macon Women's College in Lynchburg, Virginia, where she majored in French.
She studied at the University of Paris, receiving the Diplone D'Etudes of Civilization Francois, Degr Superieur.
She was a member of Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Frederick Fischer; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gleeves Davis; and sister, Mrs. William R. Hammond.
Pallbearers will be O.K. Davis, Thomas McCann, Charles Vaughan, and George T. Walker.
Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM, Tuesday at Mulhearn Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel.

A celebration of the life of Ellis J. Gilmore, 77, of Delhi, will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, March 30, 2005 at the First Baptist Church in Delhi.

Graveside services will be held at 3:00 PM, Wednesday at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Greenville, MS, under the direction of Cox Funeral Home of Delhi.
Mr. Gilmore died Sunday at St. Francis Specialty Hospital in Monroe, following a brief illness.
He was a 1945 graduate of Anacoco High School and a Navy veteran of World War II.
He was a resident of Delhi, for 29 years, and retired as a compressor station superintendent for Michigan-Wisconsin Pipeline, after 36 years of service.
His favorite pastime was drinking coffee at various spots around town with his numerous buddies.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Edger Julian Gilmore and Mary Jane Stringer, Gilmore McKee.
Mr. Gilmore is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mary Bernice Swarner Gilmore of Delhi, and three children: Dianna Lynn Gilmore Perkins and her husband, Terry of Natchez, MS; William Harvey Gilmore and his wife, Amanda Roberts Gilmore of Castle Rock, CO; and Donald Ellis Gilmore and his wife, Sharon Thomas Gilmore of Delhi.
Also surviving are three grandchildren, Joshua Colin Gilmore, Ryan Cory Perkins and Madeline Claire Gilmore; a brother, William Charles McKee and wife, Faye of Gastonia, NC; and a sister, Barbara McKee Gardner and husband, James of Coquille, OR.

Mr. McBride, a charter member of Memorial United Methodist Church, died Monday, March 28, 2005, at St. Francis Medical Center.
He was educated in the Morehouse Parish School System and studied engineering at SMU.
During WWII, he served in the Army with an Engineering Battalion in Okinawa.
He worked as a Civil Engineer with Ouachita Parish, and then worked at Riverwood for 24 years before retiring.
His wife of 67 years, Pauline Franklin McBride and oldest child, Charles Thomas McBride, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his children, James E. McBride and wife, Carol of Monroe; and Susie McBride Moncla and husband, Stephen of Seabrook, TX; daughter-in-law, Betty McBride of Sterlington; grandchildren, Carol Sawyer of Ruston, LA; Charles D. McBride of Baton Rouge, LA; Paula Sue McBride of Shreveport, LA; and Stephanie Moncla Lamb of Waco, TX; and six great-grandchildren.

He was a life-long resident of West Monroe, and served in the United States Air Force from 1954 until 1958.
Mr. Price was a truck driver for many years.
Mr. Price is preceded in death by his parents Elmer and Elizabeth Price, sister, Mary Jane Price Colson, and son.
Survivors include his sister, Annabel Price Kiley of St. Augustine, FL, brother-in-law, Cecil Colson of Rosenburg, TX; several nieces and nephews, as well as several aunts and cousins living in the area.

Services celebrating the life of George Marshall Riser, 97, will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, March 30, 2005, at First United Methodist Church of Monroe, with Dr. Larry Stafford officiating.
Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Ruston, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.
A retired educator and former coach, he was born in Ruston, LA, on May 1, 1907, the son of James Tomlinson Riser and Martha Elizabeth Terrill Riser.
He died at his home on Easter Sunday, March 27, 2005, after a short period of declining health.
His beloved wife of 65 years, Roy Cole Riser preceded him in death in October, 2000.
With his early life filled with outdoor activities in rural Lincoln and Jackson parishes, he lettered in baseball and football, 1922-1925, at Ruston High School, then played both sports at Louisiana Tech, serving as Captain of the football team in 1931.
On graduating that year, he came to Ouachita Parish High School as assistant football coach, and remained there for 18 years as coach, teacher and finally as assistant principal.
In 1949, he moved to the Monroe City School System, where he served for 21 years, including administrative roles at Neville High School, Central Grammar School, South Monroe Junior High, and 11 years as principal of Lee Junior High.
During many of the earlier years, he also coached American Legion baseball and spent many Friday nights as a referee for football games across North Louisiana.
He served on the Administrative Board of First United Methodist Church, the 1970 White House Conference on Children and Youth, Louisiana Teachers' Association and Principals' Association, and a board member of the Ouachita Council on Aging.
He was a Past President of Monroe City Teachers' Association, Past Chairman of Monroe Recreation Board, and was a supporter of the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts.
For the past 20 years, he served as a member of the Ouachita Parish Jury Commission.
In 1985, he received the David C. Silverstein Memorial Civic Award.
He loved making connection with people wherever he went, and greeted, teased, or somehow, found common ground with those who crossed his path.
He shared his love of the outdoor natural world with his family and others whose lives were enriched by his influence.
His abiding faith undergirded all his interaction and relationships with others.
Survivors include his son, George M. Riser, Jr. of Covington, LA; daughter, Martha Riser Cooper of Raleigh, NC; grandson, David George Cooper of Raleigh, NC; brother, James Thomas Riser and wife, Arminda of Shreveport, LA; many dear cousins, friends and former students over the years, who claim his influence on their lives.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of OPHS Football Teams, 1942-1946.

Dr. Terry held various positions in the State Department of Agriculture before retiring as a professor at Louisiana Tech University.

Margaret was preceded in death by her father, Mr. J.D. Smith and Mrs. Margarette Barber.

Her given name was Lullavy.
To those who seemed to experience difficulty pronouncing her given name, she was Lullabye, Lullabee, Loovie, Lovie, Lovable, and many more.
In the neighborhood, she was Mrs. Vye or Vye.
At church, she was Mother Washington.
To the family, she is Mama, Mur-Dear, Grandma, Granny, Aunt, Niece and Cousin.
To our Lord and Savior, she's always been "A Child of God".
Lullavy graciously answered to every name she was called.
Lullavy was born October 24, 1925 to the parents of a carpenter and a school teacher, Albert and Alice Orange Johnson, in Fort Necessity, LA.
She and her only sibling, Sidney Gilbert Johnson, were reared by their step-father, Rev. Amos Turner Thomas in Winnsboro, LA, until 1942, when the family relocated to Monroe, LA.
Her parents and only brother all preceded her in death.
Lullavy met and married Dave Washington, Jr. in 1949.
Together they reared seven children.
Dave and Lullavy bonded their lives together until Dave's call to eternal rest from St. Francis Hospital on Friday, March 25, 1977, at 6:00 PM.
Two of their seven children, Dave, III (2004) and Grace (1986), have also been laid to rest.
Throughout her life, Lullavy was very actively engaged in numerous endeavors at home, church, and work.
She was a retired Nursing Assistant and remained full of life until her health failed.
Mrs. Lullavy Johnson Washington was called to eternal peace from the St. Francis Hospital on Friday, March 25, 2005 at 6:00 AM.
Left with precious memories of their mother and grandmother are daughter, Daisy Wright (Mearthy) of Monroe, LA, and their seven children; daughter, Billie Jean Washington of Decatur, IL, and her one daughter, Alice Lark of Houston, TX, and her two sons; daughter, Evory Johnson (James) of Monroe, LA, and three daughters; son, Tez Washington (Tabatha) of Minneapolis, MN, and eight sons; Grace's four children; and Dave, III's one child.
In addition to her children and twenty-six grandchildren, sharing dear memories of Lullavy are her thirty-four great-grandchildren, two sisters-in-law, Evoras Simms of Monroe, LA, and Clora Johnson of Shreveport, LA, several aunts, uncles, cousins, neighbors, friends, and church folks.
