Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home - Tallulah, LA
Funeral services for Miss Retta Gandy, age 55 of Tallulah, LA, will be held at 3:00 PM Thursday, March 31, 2005 at the Tallulah Presbyterian Church, with Dr. William S. Smith officiating.
Burial will follow in the Silver Cross Cemetery in Tallulah, under the direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home.
Visitation will be at the church from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM Thursday, March 31, 2005.
Miss Gandy died March 29, 2005 in the River Region Medical Center after a sudden illness.
She was born in Tallulah, LA, and was a life-long resident.
She was member of Tallulah Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include: her mother, Roberta "Beta" Sevier Gandy of Tallulah, LA; her uncle: Henry C. Sevier, Jr. of Covington, LA; and a number of cousins.
Pallbearers will be Jim Tucker, Tommy Bishop, Dr. Conrad Sevier, Rufus Yerger, Jr., Tom Gandy, Paul Mayronne, Trey Tucker, and Boyd Kitchen.
NORMA WORLEY GILCHRIST

Norma Worley Gilchrist of Monroe, died in St. Francis Hospital, March 26, 2005, joining husband, Gil, to be with the Lord.
She was born on April 21, 1923, in Homer, LA, and graduated from LA State Normal College, where on August 21, 1943, she married, LCDR Arch "Gil" Gilchrist, whom she met while he was attending Naval Aviator Training.
She supported her husband throughout his career as a Navy pilot and raised three children in such places as Whidbey Island, WA, Charleston, RI, Port Lyautey, Morocco, Norfolk, VA, Patuxent River, MD, and Moffett Field, CA.
In 1962, Norma and her family moved to Monroe, where they became members of Parkview Baptist Church.
At Parkview, Norma established many lifelong friendships that were a blessing to her, especially since the passing of her husband in April 1991.
In spite of painful rheumatoid arthritis, Norma enjoyed sewing, cooking, and traveling to Europe, Asia, and throughout the U.S., to visit her children and other family members.
She was an avid and accomplished bridge player and, through years of success in tournament play.
In 2002, she was designated a Life Master.
She was an equally ardent football fan and passionately followed her favorite teams: the Neville High School Tigers, University of Louisiana Monroe Indians, and the Dallas Cowboys.
She will be remembered by her family, her longtime college friends, and her friends at Parkview Baptist and the Bridge House for her thrift, her quick wit and her bright smile.
Her family will also miss her nudging elbow and the "Kissy Dragon".
Norma is survived by her son, David Gilchrist and wife, Linda of Jackson, GA; son, Stephen Gilchrist and wife, Myra of Arlington, VA; her sister, Patsy Foster and husband Darrel of Lake Jackson, TX; and her devoted son-in-law, Charles Turk of Niceville, FL.
Her daughter, Joan Gilchrist Turk, passed away November 12, 2004, following a heroic struggle against cancer.
Norma was grandmother to Clay Gilchrist of Atlanta, GA, David Turk of St. Petersburg, FL, Kathryn Turk of Crestview, FL, Philip Gilchrist of Elkridge, MD, and Katherine Gilchrist of Arlington, VA.
Although not related by blood, Jerry G. "Skipper" Riley, of Monroe, was a dependable and steadfast friend to Norma and her children.
Norma requested that there be no memorial service and that her remains be donated to the LSU Medical School, Shreveport.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to a favorite charity in Norma's memory.

Services for James Roy "Buddy" Holloway, Sr., age 75, of Columbia, will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, April 1, 2005 from the chapel of Riser Funeral Home in Columbia, with Rev. Wayne James officiating.

Interment will follow in the Welcome Home Cemetery in Grayson.
Mr. Holloway was born in Wisner, on September 3, 1929, the the union of James and Ella Mae Byrnes Holloway and died Tuesday, March 29, 2005 in Hebert.
He was a retired lock operator with the U.S. Corps of Engineers and was presently the overseer of Salt Lake Farms in Hebert.
He was also a veteran of World War II, having served in the Air Force.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his grandson: James Daniel Holloway.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Ruth Johnson Holloway of Columbia; his son, James R. "Bubba" Holloway, Jr. and his wife, Cindy of Columbia; his daughters: Teresa H. Atwell and her husband, Earlis Ray Atwell of Olla; Beverly Virginia Holloway of Columbia; Terry H. Paulson and her husband, Norman of Monroe; Claudia H. Earnest and her husband, Marty of Hebert; Ellie M. Holloway of Columbia; and Carolyn H. Cato and her husband, Bobby of West Monroe; his grandchildren, Andon Calhoun, Bubba Holloway, III, Heath Calhoun, Beth Yelvington, Adam Holloway, Matt Holloway, Erica Hogg, Casey Roberts, Cody Earnest, Hillary Sikes, Erin Roberts, Nathan Perot, Letha Perot, Jake Cato and Jason Cato; his great-grandchildren, Jackson Lee Calhoun, Allison Elizabeth Calhoun, Austin Barfoot, Zachary Barfoot, and Austin Daniel Calhoun, and his sisters, Annie Marie Mosely of Monroe; and Margrette Vercher of Alexandria.
Pallbearers will be Andon Lee Calhoun, William Heath Calhoun, James R. Holloway, III, Christopher Adam Holloway, Kevin Matthew Holloway, and Cody Joshua Earnest.

Mr. Kelly died Wednesday, March 30, 2005, at his residence after a lengthy battle with cancer.
He was born in New Orleans, LA, in 1946, grew up in Monroe, and was a resident of Bastrop, for 22 years.
He was a member of Christ Episcopal Church, a veteran of the U.S. Navy, which he served from 1969-1974.
He was a graduate of Northeast Louisiana University, with a BBA in General Business and BBA in Accounting.
He was a member of the Society of Louisiana CPA and AICPA.
He was employed by Kennedy Rice Dryers and Delta Land Management in Mer Rouge, LA, where he acted as comptroller.
He was a member of Morehouse Country Club, where he formerly served on the Board of Directors.
His brother, James D. Kelly, Jr., preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Molly Kelly; daughters, Katherine and Sarah Kelly of Monroe; parents, Dr. and Mrs. James D. Kelly; brothers, John D. Kelly and Curney Kelly of Monroe; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Linda and Richard Reynolds of Guntersville, AL; several nieces and nephews; and special cousin, Michael D. Savage.
