Suzanne D. Lamarque, a retired teacher, died Monday of cancer at her home. She was 55. She was born in New Orleans and lived in Slidell for 45 years. She was a junior high school teacher in the St. Tammany Parish public school system for 20 years. She was a parishioner of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church. Survivors include her husband, John C. Lamarque Jr.; two sons, John C. "Charlie" Lamarque III and Joey Carr Lamarque; two daughters, Johnelle Claire Lamarque and Jaclyn Charlotte Lamarque; three sisters, Lynn Drumm, Noel Gates of Olympia, Wash., and Muriel Soileau of Conyers, Ga.; and two grandchildren. A Mass will be said Monday at 7:30 p.m. at Honaker Funeral Home, 1751 Gause Blvd, Slidell. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m.

Don H. Nelson, owner of DOBE International, died Thursday of cancer at his home. He was 54. Mr. Nelson was born in Forkville, Miss., and lived in New Orleans for the past 30 years. He graduated from Morton High School and attended East Central Junior College, both in Mississippi. He was a corporal in the Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of New Orleans. He also was a member of Promise Keepers. Survivors include his wife, Beverly H. Nelson; a son, Michael Nelson of Forkville; a stepdaughter, Windy Palmore of Atlanta; his mother, Arthureen Nelson of Morton, Miss.; a sister Bobbie Catherine Nelson of Brandon, Miss.; and two grandchildren. A funeral will be held today at 3 p.m. at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Burial will be in Jonesboro Memorial Park cemetery in Jonesboro, Ark.

Rosalie Del Buono Cazzetta, a homemaker, died Wednesday at Lifecare Hospital. She was 93. Mrs. Cazzetta was born in New Orleans and lived in St. Bernard Parish. She was a member of the Our Lady of Prompt Succor Parish Church Altar Society. Survivors include three daughters, Rose Rita Monica Delaney, Josephine C. LeBlanc and Bernice C. Melancon; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. A funeral will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W. Virtue St. in Chalmette. Visitation will begin Monday at 10 a.m. Burial will be in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.

Tiny "Myrtle" Trauth Rivere, a retired seamstress with Sears Roebuck & Co., died Tuesday at her home. She was 81. Mrs. Rivere was born in Des Allemands and lived in Metairie for the past 30 years. She graduated from Hahnville High School. She was a former employee of Signorelli's Draperies. She was a former member of the American Business Women's Association and a member of the SearsRetirees Group. She was a volunteer at Longue Vue Gardens, where she was named volunteer of the year in 2000. Survivors include a son, Edwin "Sonny" Rivere; four daughters, Sylvia Gayle Lightell, Linda R. Howard, Joan E. Rivere and Dianne R. Shapiro; three sisters, Leotha Meyer, Beryl Wolney and June Lirette; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. A Mass will be said Monday at 11 a.m. at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. Visitation will be today from 7 to 10 p.m. and Monday from 8:30 to 11 a.m. Burial will be in Lake Lawn Park cemetery.

William J. Smith Sr., a retired manager of the wire rope department of Woodward Wight Inc., died Wednesday at Chateau Living Center in Kenner. He was 89. Mr. Smith was a lifelong resident of the New Orleans area. Survivors include two sons, William J. Smith Jr. and Thomas Michael Smith; five daughters, Dr. Patricia S. Cook, Maureen S. Lockhart, Judith S. McDonald, Theresa S. Barrios and Denise S. Domingue; 26 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren. Helen Glunk Doescher, a retired secretary at Harahan Elementary School, died Thursday at Sunrise Assisted Living Center in Baton Rouge. She was 82. Mrs. Doescher was born in Atlanta and lived in Harahan for the past 65 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church and was a participant of Harahan Senior Center. Survivors include two sons, Allen L. Doescher and Charles L. Doescher Jr.; a sister, Marie Zahn; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A funeral will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at L.A. Muhleisen & Son Funeral Home, 2607 Williams Blvd., Kenner. Visitation will be today from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday at 9 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Garden of Memories.

Marie "Mito" Cuellar Etienne, a homemaker, died Monday at her home. She was 92. Mrs. Etienne was born in Santa Cruz, Bolivia, and lived in Kenner and New Orleans for the past 52 years. She earned a teaching degree in Santa Cruz. She was a parishioner of Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church. Survivors include a son, Alex J. Etienne of Kenner; a daughter, Jeannine E. Frederick of Slidell; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Burial was in Lake Lawn Park cemetery. Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home handled arrangements.

Mary Lura Stratton, a homemaker, died Thursday of heart failure at Slidell Memorial Hospital. She was 87. Mrs. Stratton was a lifelong resident of Slidell. Survivors include three sons, Harold Stratton of Pearl River, Richard "Dickey" Dubuisson and Kevin Stratton; three daughters, Pamela S. Levy, Joan D. Giardina of Mandeville and Janet D. Bourgeois of New Orleans; a brother, Fred Pichon of New Orleans; 15 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. A memorial will be held at a later date. Pasquale "Pat" Farulla, a retired engineer for South Central Bell, died March 21 of Alzheimer's disease at Veteran's Administration Hospital in Billerica, Mass. He was 65. Mr. Farulla was born in South Boston, lived in Covington from 1977 to 1995, and lived in Billerica for the past six years. He was a Marine Corps veteran, serving as a corporal. Survivors include his wife, Terry Adam Farulla; a son, Joshua K. Farulla; four daughters, Jeanne and Patricia Farulla and Catherine Frederick, all of Braintree, Mass., and Margaret M. Farulla; a brother, Julio Farulla of Needham, Mass.; and a sister, Rose Ciccone. A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 6 p.m. at St. Peter Catholic Church in Covington. Burial will be in Massachusetts National cemetery in Bourne, Mass.

Darilyn Marie Fisher, a security guard for New Orleans Private Patrol Service, died May 26 of cancer at University Hospital. She was 29. Ms. Fisher was born in New Orleans and lived in Gretna. She graduated from Francis T. Nicholls High School. She was a member of Life Center Full Gospel Baptist Cathedral. Survivors include three daughters, Monique and Jessica Fisher and Zelda Penwright; her father, Joseph Fisher; her mother, Daphne Johns; and her grandparents, Alva Johns Sr. and Sarah Jones. A funeral will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at Life Center Full Gospel Baptist Cathedral, 1 Life Center Blvd., Algiers. Visitation will begin at 8 a.m. at the church. Bernard Giordano, a retired cobbler, died Thursday at Slidell Guest House. He was 93. Mr. Giordano was born in Hattiesburg, Miss., and lived in Slidell most of his life. He was past president, commissioner and longtime coach of the Slidell Bantam Baseball Association. Survivors include a son, Ronald A. Giordano of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; a daughter, Elaine G. Naulty; two brothers, Charles Giordano of Metairie and Nunzio Giordano; two sisters, Marie G. Arruebarrena and Rosalie G. Kenneth D. Valentine, a student at the University of North Florida and a musician with the Kenneth Valentine Quintet, died Tuesday of a heart attack at his home. He was 40. Mr. Valentine was born in Lake Charles and lived in Jacksonville, Fla. He graduated from St. Augustine High School. He was a petty officer first class in the Navy and received the Meritorious Medal and two Good Conduct medals. Survivors include his companion, Donna Alonso; his father, James Valentine; his adopted mother, Erleen Valentine; two brothers, Ronald and Darrel Valentine, both of New Orleans; four sisters, Jennifer Valentine of Detroit and Erin A., Tressa and Dr. Christy Valentine, all of New Orleans; and his grandmother, Ethel Borne of Luling. A Mass will be said Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Simon Peter Catholic Church, 7600 Gannon Road. Visitation and recitation of the Rosary will begin at 9 a.m. Burial will be in Providence Park cemetery.
