Emile W. Rieffel, a security guard, died Tuesday of cancer at home. He was 74. Mr. Rieffel was born in New Orleans and lived in Jefferson for the past 29 years. He was a former truck driver for Alexander's Furniture, Lefty's Moving Co. and Maison Blanche and was a former baker for Dixieana Bakery. He was a volunteer for the Jefferson Parish Council on Aging and had served in the Army. Survivors include a brother, Maurice E. Rieffel Sr., and a sister, Maejoyce R. Billingsley. A Mass will be said Friday at 11 a.m. at Jacob Schoen & Son Funeral Home, 3827 Canal St. Visitation will be today from 6 to 9 p.m. and Friday beginning at 9 a.m. Burial will be private.
O'FLYNN, JOHN ‘JACK' STEPHEN

John "Jack" Stephen O'Flynn, a retired hydraulic mechanic, died Tuesday at home. He was 75. Mr. O'Flynn was born in Baton Rouge and lived in Terrytown for the past 31 years. He was a member of the Terrytown 5th District Volunteer Fire Company and was a Navy veteran. Survivors include seven sons, John, Michael, Blaise, Dennis, Kevin, Christopher and Kenneth O'Flynn; three daughters, Kathleen O'Rourke, Patricia Giovengo and Julie O'Flynn; a brother, David O'Flynn; 22 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. A Mass will be said today at 1:15 p.m. at Jacob Schoen & Son Funeral Home, 3827 Canal St. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Burial will be in St. Louis Cemetery No. 3.

Loretta Poche Ruiz, a homemaker, died Wednesday at Ormond Nursing Home. She was 89. Ms. Ruiz was born in St. Amant and lived in LaPlace for 10 years and in Kenner for the past 52 years. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Survivors include a son, Cecil R. Ruiz; two daughters, Lois R. Negrotto and Gloria R. Zeringue; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; seven step great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. A funeral will be held Friday at noon at L.A. Muhleisen and Son Funeral Home, 2607 Williams Blvd., Kenner, followed by a Mass at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 1908 Short St. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Garden of Memories.

Francis P. Sigur Jr., a retired foreman at Avondale shipyard, died Tuesday of cancer at his home. He was 75. Mr. Sigur was born in Larose and lived in Westwego for the past 70 years. He was a corporal in the Air Force during World War II and received the Victory Medal and an Army of Occupation medal in Japan. He was a past commander of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6793 Westwego and Knights of Columbus Monsignor P.M.H. Wynhoven Council 3091. Survivors include two sons, Ted and Tim Sigur; two daughters, Pamela S. Hebert and Penny S. Matulich; a sister, Rosemary S. Vacari; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. A Mass will be said Saturday at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church, 146 Fourth St., Westwego. Visitation will be Friday from 6 to 10 p.m. and Saturday at 8 a.m. Burial will be in Gates of Heaven Mausoleum in Westwego. Mothe Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Bernadine Baham Adams, a homemaker, died Monday at Lakeview Regional Medical Center. She was 88. Mrs. Adams was a lifelong resident of Madisonville. Sybil Marie Johnson, owner and operator of Johnson Home Health, died Saturday of cancer at her home. She was 56. Ms. Johnson was born in Port Arthur, Texas, and lived in Starks before moving to Metairie 35 years ago. She was a graduate of Starks High School and Nicholls State University. She was a former employee of Ochsner Foundation Hospital. Survivors include two daughters, Dana Marie Ferguson of Mandeville and Cynthia "Cindy" Johnson of Venice; her father, Lawrence Ray Hyatt of Starks; a sister, Bettye Tucker of Vidor, Texas; and five grandchildren. A private service will be held today at Johnson Funeral Home in Lake Charles. Burial will be in Fountain Cemetery.

Ronald Remme Juncker, a retired foreman for Bell- South, died Monday of complications of pneumonia at Chalmette Medical Center. He was 73. Mr. Juncker was born in New Orleans and lived in St. Bernard Parish for the past 44 years. He served six years in the Naval Reserves. Survivors include his wife, Hortense Binder Juncker; three daughters, Darlene J. Esposito, Cynthia J. Mullet and Karen J. Roy E. Tannahill, former owner of Key Dodge , died Thursday of a heart attack at Sea Coast Medical Center in Myrtle Beach, S.C. He was 72. Mr. Tannahill was born in Jacksonville, Ill., lived in the New Orleans area for many years and lived in Diamondhead, Miss., for the past four years. He was an Army veteran. He was a member of Chateau Country Club and Diamondhead Country Club. He was a member of Masonic organizations in Texas and the Grand Lodge of Mississippi, and was a Master Mason of Capital Lodge No. 0600. Survivors include his wife, Velma Bordelon Tannahill; a son, Roy "Chip" Tannahill; a daughter, Loyce Schillesci; a brother, Robert Tannahill; a sister, Betty Jean Martens of Venecia , Calif.; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
