BURREGI, PHILIP JOSEPH

Philip Joseph Burregi, a retired Jefferson Parish school bus driver and barbershop owner, died Saturday of lung cancer at his home. He was 75. Mr. Burregi was born in Independence and lived in Marrero for the past 56 years. He was an Army veteran. He was a parishioner of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, a member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 4222, the Italian-American Society and the Marrero-Ragusa Fire Department. Survivors include his wife, Linda Baudean Burregi; a son, Salvadore J. Burregi; two daughters, Vita Burregi Landry and Maydell Burregi Smith; three stepsons, Aristille, Norbert and Robert Carriere; two brothers, Joseph and Sam Burregi Jr.; a sister, Margaret Burregi Andrus; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A Mass will be said today at 11 a.m. at Mothe Funeral Home, 7040 Lapalco Blvd., Marrero. Visitation will begin at 8 a.m. Burial will be in Colonial Cemetery, Independence.

LeBLANC, EUNICE A. ‘NU-NU'

Eunice A. "Nu-Nu" LeBlanc, a retired organist for Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, died Thursday at Wynhoven Health Care Center. She was 92. Mrs. LeBlanc was a lifelong resident of Marrero. Survivors include many nieces and nephews. A Mass will be said Monday at 11 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 4401 Seventh St., Marrero. Visitation will be today from 6 to 10 p.m. at Westside/Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 West Bank Expressway, Marrero, and Monday at 9 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in Westlawn Cemetery in Gretna.

VAUGHN, JAMES HILTON

James Hilton Vaughn, a bail bondsman, died Monday of cancer at Memorial Medical Center. He was 67. Mr. Vaughn was born in Boothville and lived in New Orleans. He worked for Steve's Bail Bonds. He was a charter member and past president of the Big Easy Kiwanis Club. He was a member of James Chapel Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Mary Becnel Vaughn of Vacherie; five daughters, Donna Murray of Luling, Allison Winston of Thibodaux, Susan Bailey, Marilyn Vaughn and Patranella Vaughn, all of Vacherie; a brother, Ross Vaughn Jr.; nine sisters, Glenda Rayford of Downey, Calif., Angela, Irene, Lula and Jacquelyn Vaughn, Ruby Shuff, Joycelyn Santa Marina, Janice Wright and Leeander Ray; and nine grandchildren. A funeral will be held Saturday at 9 a.m. at James Chapel Baptist Church, 4201 Thalia St. Visitation will be today from 4 to 8 p.m. at Tilly's Funeral Home, 2831 St. Claude Ave., and Saturday at 8 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in Providence Memorial Park.

RUSSELL, MARY ALICE

Mary Alice Russell, a homemaker, died Tuesday of pneumonia at St. Claude Hospital. She was 78. Mrs. Russell was a lifelong resident of New Orleans. Survivors include five sons, James, Lawrence, Michael, Malcolm and Walter Russell; seven daughters, Mary, Francis, Artimese and Augustine Russell, Viola Gray, Mildred Mays and Linda Dupssis; 27 grandchildren; and 46 great-grandchildren. A funeral will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Christ Temple Church, 1339 Gallier St. Burial will be in Restlawn Park. Visitation will be today from 8 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Directors, 4101 St. Claude Ave.

RAMER, CECILY REIMMUTH

Cecily Reimmuth Ramer, a retired insurance underwriter, died Saturday of breast cancer at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio. She was 58. Mrs. Ramer was born in New Orleans and lived in Westlake, Toledo and Olmsted, Ohio, for the past nine years. She was a retired insurance underwriter for Ohio Casualty. Survivors include a son, Justin Ramer of North Ridgeville, Ohio; a daughter, Dorothy Cromer of Genoa, Ohio; a sister, Thais R. Tooke; and four grandchildren. A funeral will be held Tuesday at noon at Sunset Memorial Park, 6245 Columbia Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Dostal Funeral Service, North Olmsted, is in charge of arrangements.

McKEEL, GABE

Gabe McKeel, a service station attendant, died Aug. 28 of cancer at Chalmette Medical Center. He was 60. Mr. McKeel was born in Catahoula and lived in New Orleans for the past 30 years. Survivors include a son, Gabe McKeel Jr.; a daughter, Janice McKeel; two brothers, William and Bernie McKeel; three sisters, Bobbie Jean, Bertha and Rosie McKeel; and two grandchildren. No service will be held. United Funeral Service handled arrangements.

BONADONA, JOHNNY A.
09/07/02

Johnny A. Bonadona, retired owner of J&G; Barber Shop, died Thursday at LifeCare Hospital. He was 81. Mr. Bonadona was born in Donaldsonville and lived in New Orleans for the past 60 years. He was an Army veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife, Clara Petrossi Bonadona; two daughters, Jeanne Stephens and Charlotte Simoncioni; and three grandchildren. A funeral will be held today at 1 p.m. at Lamana-Panno-Fallo Funeral Home, 1717 Veterans Memorial Blvd. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m.

HARE, ROBERT CONVERSE

Robert Converse Hare, a plant physiologist, died Sunday at his home. He was 85. Mr. Hare was born in North Grafton, Mass., lived in Long Beach, Miss., and lived in New Orleans for the past four years. He attended the University of Akron and Washington State University and earned a doctorate in botany from the University of Florida. He was a researcher for the Southern Forest Experiment Station in Gulfport, Miss., for 30 years and wrote more than 58 scientific papers. He was a second lieutenant in the Army Signal Corps during World War II. He was a Scoutmaster for the Boy Scouts for 40 years and received the Pine Burr Award for outstanding service to the Boy Scouts of America. Survivors include three sons, Robert Hare of Sacramento, Calif., James Hare of Portland, Ore., and Dale Hare; three daughters, Janice Robertson of Columbus, Miss., Jennifer Reinhardt and Nancy Averett; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held today at 2 p.m. at Riemann Funeral Home, 505 Jefferson Davis Ave., Long Beach. Visitation will begin at 1:30 p.m.

NEUPERT, JOSEPH B. JR.

Joseph B. Neupert Jr., a retired property clerk with Orleans Parish, died Tuesday of respiratory failure at Kenner Regional Medical Center. He was 73. Mr. Neupert was born in New Orleans and lived in Kenner for the past 30 years. He was a Marine Corps veteran. Survivors include his wife, Patricia Floyd Neupert; two sons, Gary Neupert and Joseph Neupert III; a daughter, Margaret delaTorre; a brother, William J. Neupert; a sister, Norma N. Rizk; and six grandchildren. A Mass will be said today at 12:45 p.m. at Jacob Schoen & Son Funeral Home, 3827 Canal St. Visitation will be at 9 a.m. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.

BORNE, OLDEN JOSEPH

Olden Joseph Borne, a retired printer for O'Dounell Brothers Printing, died Sunday at East Jefferson General Hospital. He was 79. Mr. Borne was born in Thibodaux and lived in Metairie for the past seven years. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a former member of the American Legion, Ed Brauner Post No. 307, was a member of American Legion Post No. 175 and a lifetime member of Disabled American Veterans, Post John P. April No. 33. Survivors include his wife, Mary Rose Boudreaux; three daughters, Sandra Borne Gaubert of Thibodaux, Linda Borne Dieck and Cynthia Borne Lopinto; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. A Mass will be said Wednesday at noon at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd. Visitation will begin at 8 a.m. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Thibodaux.

Paul Chin-Lai, a retired office manager, died Tuesday of complications of heart surgery at West Jefferson Medical Center. He was 76. Mr. Chin-Lai was a lifelong resident of New Orleans. He was a member of Westside Amateur Radio Club and Chinese Presbyterian Church. Survivors include his wife, Anna Sit Chin-Lai; a son, Paul Daniel Chin-Lai of Birmingham, Ala.; two daughters, Pam Jarboe of Dallas and Paula Hom; his father, Lai Chin; his mother, Lillian Chin-Lai; three sisters, Helen Tassitano of New Jersey, Doris Halbrook of Pollack and Jane Moulin; and six grandchildren. A funeral will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. Visitation will begin at 8:30 a.m. Burial will be in Lake Lawn Park.

Adam A. Lightell, a shipyard steel expediter, died Friday at Slidell Memorial Hospital. He was 86. Mr. Lightell was born in New Orleans and lived in Slidell for the past 43 years. He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church. Survivors include his wife, Mildred Lightell; two sons, Dexter and Lester Lightell; a daughter, Geraldine Carr; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. A funeral will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Jacob Schoen & Son Funeral Home, 3808 Pontchartrain Drive, Slidell. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Slidell.
