Frank James Norton, a retired truck driver for the St. Bernard Parish Road District, died Sunday at Chalmette Medical Center. He was 94. Mr. Norton was a lifelong resident of St. Bernard Parish. Survivors include nieces and nephews. A Mass will be said today at noon at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 6305 E. St. Bernard Highway in Violet. Visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in St. Vincent De Paul Cemetery.
LAVENTHAL, SAMUEL

Samuel Laventhal, retired owner of Marine Supply and Salvage Co., died Sunday at WillowWood At Woldenberg Village. He was 87. Mr. Laventhal was born in Manhattan, N.Y., and lived in New Orleans for the past 49 years. He was a graduate of Brooklyn College. He was a master sergeant in the Army during World War II. He was a member of Congregation of Chevra Thilim. He was a member of Jewish War Veterans, B'nai Brith, the American Civil Liberties Union, the New Orleans Friends of Music and the Zionist Organization of America. Survivors include his wife, Rosalyn Greenberg Laventhal; two sons, Leo and Nahum D. Laventhal; a daughter, Deborah L. Burkholder of Wheaton, Md.; and five grandchildren. A graveside service will be held today at 11 a.m. at Chevra Thilim Park Cemetery, 5000 Iberville St. Tharp-Sontheimer-Tharp Funeral Home handled arrangements.

Sylvester Smiley Beasley, a laborer, died June 8 of complications from a seizure at Touro Hospital. He was 52. Mr. Beasley was born in Georgetown, Miss., and lived in New Orleans for the past 50 years. He attended James Lewis Elementary School and Carter G. Woodson Middle School, and graduated from Walter L. Cohen High School. He was a member of Second True Light Baptist Church and New Home Missionary Baptist Church. He was a Marine Corps veteran; he served in Vietnam. Survivors include his mother, Bertha Beasley; two brothers, Willie Ellis of Hazelhurst, Miss., and Frankie James; and a sister, Lula Beasley Stewart. A funeral will be held today at 7 p.m. at Majestic Mortuary, 1833 Oretha Castle Haley Blvd. Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. Dismissal will be Saturday at 8:30 a.m. at the funeral home followed by a service at noon at New Hope Baptist Church in Georgetown. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Doris R. Ordoyne, a retired secretary, died Wednesday of kidney failure at Lifecare Hospital. She was 70. Mrs. Ordoyne was born in Westwego and lived in Harahan for 53 years. She was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3267 for 47 years. Survivors include three sons, Lawrence P. Ordoyne of Tylertown, Miss., Reginald Ordoyne of Waggaman and Sidney Ordoyne Jr. of River Ridge; a daughter, Mamie O. Lamonte of Destrehan; two brothers, Donald Melancon of Lockport and Gerald Melancon of Schriever; two sisters, Genevive Matherne of Vacherie and Yvonne Guillot of Thibodaux; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A prayer service was held Friday at L.A. Muhleisen and Son Funeral Home, 2929 Metairie Road. Burial was in Garden of Memories.

Ella Khadijah Hasan, a retired school teacher, died Friday of cancer at Tulane University Medical Center. She was 61. Mrs. Hasan was a lifelong resident of New Orleans. She graduated from Clark High School and Southern University of New Orleans. Survivors include her husband, Khatib Hasan; a son, Hassan Hasan; four daughters, Sultana, Antarah, Zinnyah and LaNitrah Hasan; her father, Taylor Harper; her mother, Hilda Adams; two brothers, Lawrence and Larry Adams; a sister, Elaine Glenn; and six grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. Visitation will be at 10:30 a.m.

Emile A. Wolf Sr., a retired electrician, died Wednesday of complications from cancer at Doctors Hospital. He was 66. He was born in New Orleans and lived in Metairie for 40 years. Mr. Wolf was employed with the Electrical Local Union No. 130. He was an Air Force veteran. Survivors include his wife, Rosemary L. Wolf; two sons, Emile A. Wolf Jr. and Steven J. Wolf Sr.; a daughter, Melissa Soniat; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A Mass will be said today at noon at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd., Metairie. Mattie L. Harrison, a homemaker, died Thursday of respiratory failure at Tulane Medical Center. She was 66. Mrs. Harrison was born in Clarksdale, Miss., and lived in New Orleans for the past 61 years. She was a lifelong member of Greater Evergreen Baptist Church and a member of the Gospel Soul Children for more than 15 years. Survivors include her husband, Aleck Harrison; four sons, Eric G., Alex A., Andre B. and Bryan W. Harrison; three sisters, Willie B. Dykes, Juanita Smith and Jeanette Shields; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A funeral will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Greater Evergreen Baptist Church, 2243 Clouet St. Visitation will begin at 8 a.m. Burial will be in Providence Memorial Park. D.W. William R. Moore, a retired broadcast and advertising executive, died Friday at Thunderbird Samaritan in Glendale, Ariz. He was 77. Mr. Moore was born in New Orleans and lived in Glendale for the past three years. He attended Tulane University. He was former president of William R. Moore Advertising and a former broadcast journalist for KTAL-TV in Shreveport. He was a member of the National Free Flight Association. He was a sergeant in the Air Force for three years and was in the Merchant Marines for two years. Survivors include two sons, William Deslond Moore of Memphis, Tenn., and Christopher Hardiner Moore of Phoenix; two daughters, Mary Elizabeth Moore of Grand Junction, Colo., and Judith Clare Moore of Pebble Beach, Calif.; a brother, Jonathan Moore of New York City; and a grandchild. Services will be private.

Harold McKee Sr. died Monday of complications from diabetes at Slidell Memorial Hospital. He was 59. Mr. McKee was a lifelong resident of Picayune, Miss. He was an Army veteran. Survivors include a son, Harold McKee Jr.; four daughters, Tammy McKee of Gulfport, Miss., and Bonita Wynn, Cynthia McKee and Trenda Faciane; a brother, the Rev. Wilfred McKee Jr.; three sisters, Ida Dean Smith of New Orleans, Carolyn McKnight of Slidell and Shirley Pollard; and 15 grandchildren.
