Elizabeth V. Ford, a retired substitute teacher, died Tuesday at Ochsner Foundation Hospital. She was 77. Mrs. Ford was born in Colleton County, S.C., and lived in New Orleans for the past 56 years. She attended Morris College and Southern University. Survivors include two sons, Oliver Ford Jr. and Joseph R. Ford; a daughter, Patsy F. Amos; three sisters, Alma Toumer of Philadelphia, Carrie Blanding of Sumter, S.C., and Ruth Lymas of St. George, S.C.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A funeral will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at New Israel Baptist Church, 1439 Lizardi St. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Burial will be private. Louis "Butch" Thornton, owner and captain of the charter boat "Miss Mississippi" out of Empire, died Monday of a heart attack in Ocean Springs, Miss. He was 59. Mr. Thornton was a lifelong resident of Biloxi, Miss. Survivors include his wife, Rose Marie Thornton; a son, Louis "Butch" Thornton Jr. of Empire; a daughter, Maria Thornton-Hignight of Empire; his mother, Ivy Thornton of St. Martin, Miss.; a brother, Carey Thornton of Empire; two sisters, Jean Thornton of St. Martin and Donna Gaspard of Baton Rouge; and two grandchildren. A funeral will be held Thursday at noon at The Episcopal Church of the Redeemer in Biloxi. Visitation will be today from 6 to 9 p.m. at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Homes, 675 Howard Ave., Biloxi. Burial will be in D'Iberville Memorial Park.

Linnie Scott, a retired seamstress, died Saturday at Ferncrest Nursing Home. She was 80. Ms. Scott was born in Osyka, Miss., and lived in New Orleans for many years. She was a member of St. John Institutional Baptist Church. Survivors include two brothers, Willie C. and Kenneth Morris; and two sisters, Helen Bozonier of Rialto, Calif., and Ethel Brown of Batania, Ill. A wake will be held Friday at 8 p.m. at D.W. Rhodes Funeral Home, 3933 Washington Ave. Burial will be in Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery in Osyka.

Katherine Stewart Livingston, a homemaker, died Feb. 25 at Brookmont Health Care Center in Effort, Pa. She was 88. Mrs. Livingston was born in San Francisco, was raised in New Orleans, lived in Memphis for many years and lived in Effort for the past five years. She attended Normal Teachers College in Memphis. She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church. Survivors include a son, Lee Haltorn Livingston of Merritt Island, Fla.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Marilyn Bruns Lacy, a homemaker, died Friday of cancer at Memorial Medical Center. She was 54. Mrs. Lacy was born in Baton Rouge and lived in Covington for the past 10 years. She received a bachelor's degree in home economics from Louisiana State University. She was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. Survivors include her husband, David L. Lacy; a daughter, Jennifer Ostendorf; her mother, Marie Aaron Bruns; a brother, Hank Bruns; and two sisters, Pam Kirby and Susan Quinn. Albertine England, a homemaker, died March 7 at her home. She was 84. Ms. England was born in Donaldsonville and lived in Algiers for the past 37 years. She was a former employee of Roosevelt Hotel and a former attendant for the Greyhound bus station. She was a former member of Second Baptist Church. Survivors include eight grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and 23 great-great-grandchildren. A funeral will be held today at 10 a.m. at Davis Mortuary Service, 230 Monroe St., Gretna.

Cheryl Ann Parker, an employee of the state of Louisiana, died March 1 of a stroke at Tulane Medical Center. She was 51. Ms. Parker was born in Donaldsonville and lived in New Orleans for many years. She attended Donaldsonville High School. She was a member of Choir No. 1, Pastor Aid and Support, and the Kitchen Committee as well as a secretary of the Sunday school and a youth counselor at Pilgrim Progress Missionary Baptist Church. Survivors include her companion, Brady Muhomad; two sons, Levar and Trevor Parker; her father, Lawrence Parker Sr.; her mother, Henrietta Parker; her stepmother, Yvonne Parker; six brothers, Lawrence Jr., Kenneth, Everett, Kevin and Demaris Parker and Avis Gaines; three sisters, Donna Parker, Carzette P. Porche and Yvette Parker; and two grandchildren. A funeral will be held today at 8 p.m. at Pilgrim Progress Missionary Baptist Church, 3600 Loyola Ave. Dismissal will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Greater Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church, 926 St. Patrick St., Donaldsonville. Sister Claire Germaine Henritzy, a school principal and teacher, died Monday of cancer at Memorial Medical Center. She was 85. Sister Claire Germaine was born Myrtle Bernice Henritzy in Daisy and lived in New Orleans for the past 25 years. She attended St. Joseph Academy, graduated from Loyola University in New Orleans and received a master's degree in English from the Catholic University of America. She entered the order of the Sisters of St. Joseph in 1938 in New Orleans and pronounced her vows in 1939 in New Orleans. She began her ministry in education and taught at the St. Joseph academies in New Orleans, Baton Rouge, New Roads and Bay St. Louis. She spent eight years as a teacher and 22 years as principal at the St. Joseph Academy in Baton Rouge. She was the diocesan supervisor for Baton Rouge for a year and also taught at the newly constructed Louisiana Arts and Science Center for two years. After serving as the province secretary for the Sisters of St. Joseph, she returned as principal at the Sisters of St. Joseph School in New Orleans. Upon retiring from education in 1985, Sister Claire Germaine worked in the senior citizen ministry at St. Angela Merici for 11 years. She received the Religious of the Year Award in 1994 from the Associated Catholic Charities. She retired to live at St. Joseph Convent after 11 years of service at St. Angela Merici. A Mass will be held today at 10 a.m. at Sisters of St. Joseph Chapel, 1200 Mirabeau Ave. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Burial will be in St. Louis Cemetery No. 3. Kori Mary Wigginton died Wednesday after being born prematurely at Memorial Medical Center. Survivors include her parents, Steven and Lori Wigginton of Chalmette; a brother, Ethan Lopinto of Chalmette; her grandparents, William and Trudy Wigginton of Picayune, Miss., and Michael and Pat Lopinto of Chalmette; and her great-grandmothers, Evelyn Lestelle and Dorothy Wigginton, both of Chalmette. Fawn Marie Cooper, a student at Delgado Community College, died Monday of cardiac arrest at Meadowcrest Hospital. She was 23. Ms. Cooper was a lifelong resident of Belle Chasse. Survivors include her father, Brian D. Cooper; her mother, Eva Mackenroth Philip; and her grandparents, Carol Brower Cooper and Catherine Hebert Mackenroth. Lee G. Cannon Sr., a retired automotive salesman, died Saturday in Baton Rouge. He was 81. Mr. Cannon was born in New Orleans and lived in Baton Rouge. He was an Army veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife, Mavis Duclos Cannon; a son, Paul Cannon; three daughters, Cheryl Brown, Mary Evans of Walker and Betty Goff of Savannah, Ga.; two half brothers, Joseph and Frank Cannon; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
