Cecilia "Granny" Perkins Thomas, a retired cook at Loyola University, died Sunday at her daughter's home. She was 84. Mrs. Thomas was a lifelong resident of New Orleans. She was a member of Second Mount Olive Baptist Church and a former president of Usher Board No. 2. Survivors include two daughters, Leonardine Thomas Landry and Viola T. Johnson; a brother, Oliver W. Perkins; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. A funeral will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Second Mount Olive Baptist Church, 2108 St. Anthony St. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Mausoleum. James Allison Ward Jr., an electrician, died Wednesday of injuries suffered in a car accident on Interstate 10 at Bullard Avenue. He was 45. Mr. Ward was born in Harahan and lived in Metairie for the past 25 years. He was a graduate of East Jefferson High School. He was a Navy veteran. Survivors include a son, Corey Ward; three daughters, Victoria Schacki, Rachel Block and Rachel Ward; his mother, Teva Belle Ward; a brother, John T. Ward; three sisters, Teva Ostarly, Jan Mayberry and Burnell Lauricella; and two grandchildren. A funeral will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at First Christian Church, 8121 Airline Highway, Metairie. James Wayne Dogan, a musician, died Friday of undetermined causes at his home. He was 55. Mr. Dogan was a lifelong resident of New Orleans. He was a graduate of Polytech University in Ruston. He was a member of Mensa. He was a founding member, keyboard player and songwriter of the band The Revealers. Survivors include his mother, June Kavlich Dogan; a brother, David Allen Dogan of Metairie; and three sisters, Lauren D. Wilt of Jefferson, Carolyn D. Ryan of Jackson, Wyo., and Mary D. Burris of Baton Rouge. A graveside service will be held today at 9:30 a.m. at Metairie Cemetery, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Larry Philip Berthold, died Wednesday of undetermined causes at Meadowcrest Hospital in Gretna. He was 52. Mr. Berthold was born in Dayton, Ohio, and lived in Daytona Beach, Fla., for many years and in Gretna for the past five years. Survivors include his wife, Karen Woods Berthold; a son, Lenny Berthold; two daughters, Jamie Hunter and Christina Coleman; his mother, Lorraine Levin; and four grandchildren. Robert Farrell Evans Jr., a retired engineer with the Jefferson Parish Department of Water, died Sunday of complications from diabetes at his home. He was 48. Mr. Evans was born in New Orleans and lived in Jefferson Parish. He graduated from Rummel High School and the University of New Orleans. Survivors include his mother, Helen Kuehne Evans; a brother, Patrick A. Evans of Biloxi, Miss.; and two sisters, Sheila T. Evans and Helen Evans Stimpert, both of Atlanta. Luella Causey, a homemaker, died Monday in Palmdale, Calif. She was 89. Mrs. Causey was born in Tylertown, Miss., and lived in Palmdale for the past two years. She was a member of Lears Hill Church of God in Christ and had served as president of the Pastor's Aid Committee. Survivors include three sons, Elder Harlon Causey of New Orleans and Myles Causey and Arcel Causey Sr. of Palmdale; three daughters, Bernice Tate of Slidell, Josephine Murphy of Gardena, Calif., and Eunice Knight of Palmdale; a sister, Iona Holmes of Tylertown; 67 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Edward "Big 6" Green, a laborer, died March 23 of cancer at his home. He was 54. Mr. Green was born in New Orleans and lived in Marrero for the past seven years. Survivors include his wife, Lordis Green; a son, Malcolm Green; his father, Eddie Green Sr.; his mother, Mildred Green; seven brothers, Michael, James, Charles, Darryl, Aaron, Andre and Eddie Green Jr.; five sisters, Gloria Douglas, Barbara Green, Elaine Hart, Deborah Wyatt and Diane Morning; a stepsister, Valerie Green; three grandchildren; and his companion, Madeline Woodley. Marvin Joseph Gates Jr. died Sunday of a heart attack at Kenner Regional Medical Center. He was 34. Mr. Gates was born in New Orleans and lived in Kenner for the past seven years. He was a graduate of St. Michael's Special School. He had been a volunteer at the Orleans Parish Criminal Sheriff's Office, a first vice president of the Jefferson Lions Club, a member of We Care for Special People and the Pinnacles Club, and a charter member of the Special Bowlers Carnival Club. Survivors include his father, Marvin Joseph Gates Sr.; his mother, Jane Wiebelt Gates; a brother, Robert J. Gates; and a grandmother, Florence M. Wiebelt. Louis John Huhner, a supervisor and dispatcher for ABF, died Monday at Memorial Medical Center. He was 76. Mr. Huhner was a lifelong resident of New Orleans. He graduated from Soule College. He was a former dispatcher for Delta Motor Lines. He was a 35-year member and past king, officer, duke and treasurer of the Okeanus Carnival Krewe. He was also a member of Masonic Lodge -- Dante Lodge No. 174, American Legion Post 397, Korean War Veterans' Association of Louisiana Chapter, and VFW Post No. 4030. He was an Army sergeant and received the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Ribbon with three bronze stars, Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one bronze star, and three overseas service bars. Survivors include his wife, Gladys Karrigan Huhner; a daughter, Kathleen Huhner Spivack; three brothers, George L. Jr., William J. and Peter F. Huhner; a sister, Grace H. Zimmerman; and a grandchild. A funeral will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Salem United Church of Christ, 4212 Camp St. Visitation will begin today at 7 p.m. Burial will be in Lakelawn Park Mausoleum. Michelle Marie Marcel, a clerical employee in a doctor's office, died Thursday of injuries from an auto accident in Kenner. She was 19. Miss Marcel was born in New Orleans and lived in Metairie for several years. She attended Delgado Community College. Survivors include her companion, James Terrio; her father, Joseph Marcel; her mother, Elizabeth Ann Roy Marcel Niemi; her stepmother, Donna Glaub; a stepbrother, Michael Glaub Jr.; two stepsisters, Amber Glaub and Casey Strider; her grandparents, Rosemary Marcel Goss and Ray A.
